The deities and mythological characters of ancient China which are playable in ''SMITE''. The Myth/ChineseMythology page deals with and can provide beneficent information about their real world counterparts, also see UsefulNotes/{{Taoism}}.
----
* AllAsiansKnowMartialArts: Downplayed, most of them either use magic or weapons.
* CelestialBureaucracy: Most of the gods here are part of one, given that Myth/ChineseMythology is the TropeCodifier.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: Something of a specialty for this pantheon, as human apotheosis occurs quite frequently in Chinese myths. Yu Huang attained his current state by cultivating his Dao for billions of years. Guan Yu and He Bo were mortals who ascended to godhood through their great deeds, while Zhong Kui was elevated by the King of Hell. Mulan is a special case in that she [[SadlyMythtaken never reached godhood in her original lore]], as her status as a deity was caused by events in ''SMITE’s'' own storyline.
* DragonsUpTheYinYang: An Eastern dragon is part of the Chinese banner artwork and the pantheon icon. The pantheon itself also includes a literal dragon in the form of Ao Kuang, and its TopGod, Yu Huang, is a Daoist-themed dragon summoner.
* FarEast: One of the two East Asian pantheons in the game, the other being Japanese.
* MysticalJade: Several Chinese gods, such as Mulan, Nu Wa and Ao Kuang, wear jade pendants and jewelry as a part of their outfits. Furthermore, [[TopGod Yu Huang]] is the literal [[GodEmperor Jade Emperor]] and has a huge halo made of the stone.
* {{Wuxia}}: Many pantheon members wouldn't look out of place in a Chinese period or fantasy epic.

[[caption-width-right:250:[[https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/6/6f/Erlang_Shen_Intro_2.ogg "With the fire of courage in our hearts, victory is assured!"]]]]

->'''Queen's Guard Skin Voiced by:''' Brad Smeaton
->'''Regal Warrior Skin Voiced by:''' Creator/HowardWang

Erlang Shen is a legendary warrior born from a goddess mother and mortal father. Both sage and soldier, humble and regal, he possesses the blood of the Jade Emperor. With such privileges in his veins, there are many legendary accomplishments that he has attained, from gathering people to slay an evil dragon to save the people from flood when his engineered dams and canals weren't enough, to challenging Sun Wukong to protect the honor of the Jade Emperor and defeating him by utilizing similar transformation skills, to slaughtering demons to protect the innocents, assisted with his hunting dog.\

And with the gods battling each other now, Erlang Shen has sworn to save the people and the world from the destruction that it may cause, and another legend will be inscribed into his achievements.\

Erlang Shen is a Warrior god that, much like an Assassin, focuses extensively on basic attacks.

* His passive, ''Howling Celestial Dog'', orders his dog to attack the last target that Erlang Shen has hit, dealing 5% of his basic attack power plus a small percentage of the target's maximum HP.
* His first ability, ''Spot Weakness'', is a buff that grants his basic ttacks increased physical damage and lifesteal, as well as applying a stacking damage reduction debuff with each basic attack. After the buff expires, Erlang's basic attacks will reduce the cooldown of the ability.
* His second ability, ''Pin'', throws a spear that deals AOE damage, crippling and rooting enemies in the center.
* His third ability, ''72 Transformations'', allows him to transform into one of two animals: a turtle which grants him a large health shield that damages any enemy it passed through, and a mink which damages enemies, stopping at the first enemy god in his path, and briefly increasing his attack and movement speed.
* His ultimate, ''9 Turns Blessing'', taunts nearby enemy gods and briefly grants damage mitigation. If he is still alive at the end of the duration, he is healed for a flat amount plus 12% of his maximum health.\

Erlang Shen's alternate skins include [[PaletteSwap Illustrious]] Erlang Shen, [[MagmaMan Molten Shogun]] Erlang Shen, [[{{Phonymon}} Monster Trainer]] Erlang Shen, [[BritishRoyalGuards Queen's Guard]] Erlang Shen and Regal Warrior Erlang Shen.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: Erlang Shen has always been a badass, that's for sure, but the game would have you believe that he defeated Wukong single-handedly. In the actual story, Shen was capable of fighting Wukong evenly but had to use a lot of help and some seriously dirty tactics in order to defeat him, to the point where Wukong calls him a coward ([[JerkassHasAPoint which Shen doesn't dispute]]). It should be noted that Erlang was capable of beating Wukong in a straight-up fight, but Wukong used trickery and his quick wits to stay ahead, which is why he had to get help to finally capture him.
* TheAce: In a nutshell, he's this, excelling at everything and having good morals to boot.
* AllYourPowersCombined: A lot of Shen's arsenal consists of modified versions of other gods' skills:
** ''Howling Celestial Dog'' = Skadi's ''Kaldr, The Winter Wolf''. Shen's dog is invincible (unlike Kaldr, who has hit points) but deals very little damage. In addition, Shen cannot order his dog to attack a target far from him, it only follows him around and attacks whoever Shen is attacking.
** ''Pin'' = Chaac's ''Thunder Strike''. Shen cannot teleport to his spear's location, but it flies quicker and roots anyone that gets caught in the center.
** ''72 Transformations'' = Sun Wukong's ability of the same name. Shen is limited to 2 transformations, lacking Wukong's movement-focused Eagle form, but makes up for it by gaining buffs.
** ''9 Turns Blessing'' = Athena's ''Confound''. While Shen gets a huge health bonus if he survives, he can't use it as often.
** The only original thing he really has is ''Spot Weakness'', which is like giving him an attack speed boost and a free Hastened Fatalis passive effect temporarily, at least until Patch 3.23, where the Hastened Fatalis effect is transferred to his Mink transformation in his 72 Transformation before eventually being removed entirely in Patch 6.10.
* TheBeastmaster: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]; Erlang Shen is constantly accompanied by his celestial dog, who attacks targets Erlang himself attacks for a percentage of their health in damage.
* CooldownManipulation: ''Spot Weakness'' will come off cooldown faster if Erlang Shen lands basic attacks on enemies.
* DramaticWind: The golden sash decorating his armor always has its ends trailing as though stirred by wind, even when Erlang is standing still, probably due to his divinity.
* HumbleHero: Despite his many great accomplishments, as well as having the blood of the Jade Emperor, Erlang is an amiable man concerned with doing good and protecting others.
* IdealHero: Erlang is skilled, powerful, humble and extremely morally upright. He even enters the battle between the gods mostly concerned with saving the world and protecting mortals from destruction rather than being driven by ego, vengeance or sadism as many other gods are.
* IShallTauntYou: His ultimate, ''9 Turns Blessing'', is similar to Athena's, except that as a Warrior Shen is expected to kill off those that he's taunted. The move increases his defense after taunting, and gives him a boost of health if he survives.
* NotSoStoic: Erlang is normally a serious, straightlaced and regal god, but his victory animation has him mock-pouting at his celestial dog, then transforming into a mink to roughhouse with him.
* PowerGlows:
** When ''Spot Weakness'' is active, Erlang and his spear glow blue to signify that he's dealing extra damage on his attacks.
** After transforming into a mink with ''72 Transformations,'' when Erlang reverts to his normal form, he and his spear glow golden for a brief period of time while he retains the bonus attack speed.
* ShoutOut: His "Monster Trainer" skin gives him the appearance and mannerisms of [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Ash Ketchum.]] His turtle form also resembles Squirtle.
* SemiDivine: His mother was a goddess (the sister of the Jade Emperor, in fact) while his father was a human. His in-game lore hints a little at the hardship he had to endure because of this status.
* ThirdEye: The gemlike crest on his forehead is apparently his third eye; his ''Spot Weakness'' ability is described as him opening his third eye, thus allowing him to analyse his foe's strengths and weaknesses, and it glows blue for the ability's duration. Mechanically, he gains additional damage on his basic attacks for a brief time.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Similar to Wukong, he has a ''72 Transformations'' ability that allows him to take the shape of animals (in game, a mink for chasing or escaping and giving him a brief attack speed buff, or a tortoise for shielding himself). In his lore, he notably engaged in a ShapeshifterShowdown with Wukong.

Formerly a mere mortal, Guan Yu was one of the heroes of [[Literature/RomanceOfTheThreeKingdoms the War between the Three Kingdoms.]] In the Peach Garden, he swore an oath of brotherhood to the warlord Liu Bei and the warrior Zhang Fei and vowed to create a new, righteous world. Uniting under the banner of Shu led by Liu Bei, Guan Yu fought on battles against warlords such as Cao Cao and Sun Quan, gaining fame for his combat prowess and sense of honor.\

At one point, Cao Cao managed to force Guan Yu to surrender as he was unable to learn of Liu Bei's position, but he made it clear that the surrender was just temporary, if Liu Bei's whereabouts was known, he would race back to his brother's side, and he did. During the Battle of the Red Cliffs, it's Guan Yu's turn to eventually corner Cao Cao. But as a payback to how well he was treated before, Guan Yu let him go. As unfortunate it may be, later on Guan Yu's mortal flaw of pride eventually caused his downfall and he was killed by the forces of Sun Quan.\

His spirit then remained at a holy shrine and whenever there were innocent villagers being oppressed by the cruel and selfish, Guan Yu's spirit came to aid the downtrodden. With such feats, Guan Yu managed to gain worshipers and people burned incenses to honor him. Gathering enough faith, he was deified as a god. Now, he is the guardian of justice, the hero of the downtrodden, the [[TitleDrop saint of war]], embodying the virtues he lived by, warding off evil and leading armies to victories for a just cause.\

Guan Yu is a Warrior god with great sustain that allows him to play a support role, but also augmented with good mobility and devastating abilities that will tear down the enemy ranks.

* His passive, ''Painless'', stores up a force of will every time he takes or deals damage. When at full stacks, Guan Yu's abilities will become empowered, increasing their effects until Guan Yu leaves combat.
* His first ability, ''Conviction'', infects surrounding allies with his courageous leadership, healing them for a fair amount. If an ally god is healed, the ability also reduces the cooldowns of everyone hit. The healing is increased when ''Painless'' is stacked.
* With his second ability, ''Warrior's Will'', Guan Yu dashes forward in a short line with his Green Dragon Crescent Blade out, damaging and slowing any enemies in his path. If an enemy god was hit, Guan Yu will have his cooldowns reduced. He is also immune to cripples, roots, and knockbacks while dashing, and the slow is increased when ''Painless'' is stacked.
* With his third ability, ''Taolu Assault'', Guan Yu spins his Green Dragon Crescent Blade, dealing damage in an area in front of him. He also shreds his victims' protection while increasing his own and he is unaffected by knockback. While ''Painless'' is stacked, he steals more protections per hit.
* His ultimate ability, ''Cavalry Charge'', has him ride his war horse, Red Hare, which forces him to charge forward for four seconds, becoming immune to crowd control. Guan Yu can steer Red Hare in any direction or even slow down, and can attack up to five times, damaging and slowing all struck enemies, with repeated hits on the same target dealing increasing damage. After four seconds (or at any time earlier if he chooses), Guan Yu dismounts from Red Hare by leaping and delivering a spinning slash that will stun enemies in a circular area where he dismounted. When ''Painless'' is stacked, the slow and stun are both increased.\

Guan Yu's alternate skins include Unstoppable Blade Guan Yu, Master Guan Fu, Grim Horseman Guan Yu, Guan Unicorn, and Convention 2014 Guan Yu.
----
* AscendedToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: After his death, the people's belief in him turned to faith, which granted him godhood.
* BadassNormal: By the standards of the deities in ''SMITE.'' Most of the cast have had some sort of innate divinity since birth, or have magical or supernatural powers. Guan Yu started out as a humble mortal (Nu Wa taunts him as such if she beats him) and most of his skills rely purely on physical prowess and "infectious leadership," yet he's usually regarded as one of the finest Gods in combat.
* BroomstickQuarterstaff: His Master Guan Fu skin makes him switch out his Green Dragon Crescent Blade for a broomstick. He's not joking when he says his blade is sharp; even broomsticks become just as deadly!
* CloseRangeCombatant: One of the few gods that can't do anything to an enemy that isn't right next to them.
* CombatMedic: With his first ability. While its heal isn't great,[[note]]50 HP at rank 1, +25 per rank, and ''no'' scaling with attack power at all[[/note]] Guan Yu is still encouraged to constantly heal his allies because it grants him (and them) cooldown reduction, which helps him whip out more skills in a quicker time and heal even more, ''especially'' with cooldown reduction items.
* CooldownManipulation: Guan Yu has several innate tools to reduce skill cooldowns altogether, making his skills often be on uptime and allowing his allies to use abilities a little more often. Heal friends with ''Conviction'', all cooldowns reduced by 2 seconds and allies reduced by 1 second. Hit an enemy God with ''Warrior's Will'', all cooldowns reduced by 2 seconds. And this is before any cooldown reduction items he bought.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: In life, Guan Yu was a mortal military general. After his death, he was worshipped for his accomplishments, to such a degree that he became a god.
* {{Determinator}}: His passive, ''Painless'', causes his ability ''Conviction'' to heal for up to double the effect from being damaged up to 20 times, prior to his most recent rework. Now, while it must be fully charged to have any effect, it can be charged both by taking and dealing damage, and affects all of his abilities; slows from ''Warrior's Will'' and ''Calvary Charge'' are twice as long, protection stealing from Taolu Assault is 50% more effective, and the stun at the end of ''Calvary Charge'' lasts twice as long, though ''Conviction's'' healing is reduced to a 50% boost at this point in time.
* FingerWag: His taunt animation.
* ForGreatJustice: Guan Yu is one of the more benevolent {{war god}}s in the game, righteous and more on the side of "trusting and protecting humanity" rather than "subjugating humanity" according to his lore. He is aware that there will be a new age, however.
-->''"[[BadassBoast A new age begins now, and there is no room for evil within it!]]"''
* GodInHumanForm: During the lore for the Grim Omens event, Guan Yu approaches Mulan in the form of an old man to test her.
* GoodIsNotNice: Downplayed. Guan Yu is one of the more virtuous Gods in the game, but he's too focused on his duties, training and the path of a warrior to afford acting pleasant, supportive or nice.
* HealingHands: It's not even his hands; the tooltip describes it as from his "tranquil leadership" being "infectious."
* JackOfAllStats: With a dash, an AOE heal, protection buffs from his ''Taolu Assault'' (his ''Conviction'' ability used to grant them as well), and powerful CC on his ultimate, Guan Yu has a little bit of everything. He can play in the solo lane, the jungle, or as a support, with different item builds for each role.
* TheJuggernaut: When using ''Cavalry Charge'', Guan Yu cannot stand still and is forced to move around until the duration ends. No crowd control can stop him, but he can slow himself down a bit.
* LighterAndSofter: His lore makes no mention of some of Guan Yu's more questionable acts before his death, as chronicled in [[Literature/RomanceOfTheThreeKingdoms the original novel]] and even in history alike, namely the combination of getting more cocky against a newcomer strategist (Lu Xun) and mistreating his subordinates (Mi Fang and Fu Shiren) enough to make them desert, all contributing to his defeat at Fan Castle and eventual execution. Him killing Lu Meng via ghostly possession and getting called out for the heads he cut down doesn't get mentioned, either. Though not explicitly stated, [[FridgeBrilliance it might be implied that]] his efforts to battle the cruel and selfish and to protect innocent villagers in spirit form after his death are [[TheAtoner ways for him to atone for his questionable acts in life.]]
* LightningBruiser: Sure, Guan Yu is a close-range Warrior with respectable damage output, but he can easily manipulate the gap between him and his enemies using either ''Warrior's Will'' or ''Cavalry Charge''. If the former hits an enemy god, it has reduced cooldown, allowing him to dash further and quicker than usual. And if he keeps healing his allies, those skills get off cooldown quicker than usual as well, allowing him to zap through the battlefield further.
* ManlyFacialHair: His famous beard is long enough to cover most of his chest.
* MountedCombat: His ultimate, ''Cavalry Charge'', has him go on a horse for its duration to attack enemies around him.
* NoSenseOfHumor:
** Attempts to make him tell a joke will have him declare war to not be a joke and demand that you find someone else to bother, or insist that you should be training instead of having time for jokes.
** Guan Yu is also one of the few gods that have his victory/defeat animation as straight as possible. No silliness, no [[ButtMonkey Denton]] participating. It's just Guan Yu making a pose and bowing for victory or leering like he's heavily wounded for defeat.
* OddJobGods: He's the god of war, martial arts, literature, brotherhood, and police officers.
* OutOfCharacter: Weirdly enough, his default voice pack's emote lines. Guan Yu is normally a serious warrior who believes WarIsHell and refuses to joke about it, yet his voice pack includes him yelling "WOOHOO!", "I'M THE GREATEST!" and "AWESOME!" with almost child-like glee and enthusiasm.
* RobeAndWizardHat: Guan Unicorn has him wear these.
* SillinessSwitch: Guan Unicorn, which takes one of the game’s most serious characters and turns him into a goofy, hammy wizard.
* ShoutOut: Guan Unicorn's got tons.
** His ultimate lines has one which is a reference to [[WebAnimation/WeeblAndBob Amazing Horse]] and one that sounds like it could be from the TropeNamer for RobeAndWizardHat.
** One of his introduction lines is saying that [[Film/TheLordOfTheRingsTheFellowshipOfTheRing a wizard and his unicorn are never late, they arrive precisely when they mean to]]. Additionally, dying may cause him to say "Fly, you mules!"
** Dying may have him declare "Reconvene at [[WebAnimation/CharlieTheUnicorn Candy Mountain]]!"
** One of his taunts may tell you that he thinks you need to back to [[Literature/HarryPotter Hogwash School of Wizardry]].
* SpinAttack: His ''Taolu Assault'' ability has him spin his blade in a circle toward enemies, swapping sides a few times. His old ultimate, ''Tactician's Advantage'', had him do backward spins prior to each strike, culminating in doing a somersault for the third strike.
* TheStrategist: In his old design--unlike other {{war god}}s, Guan Yu wins by healing his allies through sheer encouraging steadfast leadership and being hardiest while he's around the game's objective structures.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His Gladiator skin's outfit doesn't ''quite'' hide his toned body.
* WarGod: He serves this role in the Chinese pantheon. He's also the god of martial arts (which might explain his obsession with training in some of his quotes), loyalty, literature, and brotherhood. He's also the patron god of police officers.
* WarIsHell: His view on war, which is probably why his jokes exude NoSenseOfHumor.
* WizardBeard: Guan Unicorn's got a big white one, though his beard is also adorned with two gold bands. A few voice lines from him make it clear that said large beard is a vital Wizard accoutrement.
* WorthyOpponent: He shows his respect for Tyr when beating him. [[FridgeBrilliance Maybe because they both]] [[NoSenseOfHumor treat this seriously]] (Tyr even more so, since at least Guan Yu can laugh).

A legendary soldier of folk tales. (Hua) Mulan is a lady-warrior who took up arms and joined the army against Chinese invaders while [[SweetPollyOliver disguising herself as a man]] so her old and frail father didn't have to. Regardless, Mulan succeeded her task and returned home, with none realizing her gender.\

Mulan is a Warrior goddess whose kit evolves over the course of the match, reflecting her ascendence to godhood. Her abilities have her use three weapons - a sword, a spear, and a bow.

* Mulan's passive, fittingly called ''Training Arc'', grants her Skill in each weapon whenever she successfully hits an enemy with an ability. In addition to standard ability leveling, her non-ultimate abilities also have three unique levels - Skilled, Adept, and Mastered - depending on how much Skill she's acquired with each weapon. She also gets a buff every ten seconds that reduces the cooldown of her non-ultimate abilities by two seconds.
* Mulan's first ability, ''Cross Strike'', slashes twice with her sword in a half-circle around her. When Skilled, Mulan gains a brief attack speed buff after using the ability. When Adept, she strikes a third time, damaging in a cone in front of her. When Mastered, Mulan obtains a permanent attack speed buff for the rest of the match.
* Her second ability, ''Spear Thrust'', has her strike with her spear, damaging and slowing enemies hit. When Skilled, she slightly heals for up to three enemies hit. When Adept, she strikes an additional time further ahead of her, dealing bonus damage if she hits the same enemy twice. When Mastered, she obtains a permanent physical power buff.
* Her third ability, ''Grapple'', fires from her bow an arrow with rope attached. If she hits an enemy god she damages and stuns them, pulls both herself and them towards each other, and strikes a second time. When Skilled, Mulan gets a brief protection buff after hitting an enemy god. When Adept, she becomes able to successfully hit and dash to walls. When Mastered, she obtains a permanent movement speed buff.
* Mulan's ultimate, ''Divine Mastery'', has her dash and slash forward, damaging and rooting enemies past. If she hits an enemy god, she follows up with a spear stab that knocks up enemies and a shot from her bow. She is rooted in place for the latter attacks, but she can freely aim them in any direction. Because ''Divine Mastery'' uses all three weapons, it is possible to gain Skill in all three at once.
----
* ActionGirl: One of the most famous Chinese examples, she has become a renowned martial hero by the time she ascends to godhood.
* AllAsiansWearConicalStrawHats: Her The Wandering Emperor skin wears a large conical straw hat.
* BigDamnHeroes: She has come to the rescue of mortals twice in the in-game lore. During the Jade Corruption event she saved a village from jade monsters with a ragtag army of commoners, ascending to godhood in the process. At the beginning of the Heavenly Light event, she slew a hungry ghost that was just about to eat a traveling peddler.
* BilingualBonus: Mulan is actually the first Chinese character to speak fluent Chinese occasionally and is voiced by a Chinese actress as well, as opposed to the Japanese pantheon having English actors.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: She ascended to godhood during the Jade Corruption event while she was rescuing a village from jade creatures, empowered by the collective faith of the Chinese people. This gives her a unique perspective among ''SMITE'' gods, and she has used it to make her fellow deities see how their selfish conflicts have come at the cost of humanity's well-being.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: Mulan's lore and her role in the Jade Corruption and Grim Omens events highlight how she has only recently ascended to godhood through her feats. She effictively goes through this journey every match through her passive (literally called ''Training'' '''''Arc'''''), which has her get measurably stronger as she gains Skill with her weapons.
* GrapplingHookPistol: The ''Grapple'' ability is essentially a Grappling-Arrow Bow ability. It pulls herself and an enemy god hit toward each other, and can be used to pull herself to terrain after reaching the Adept skill level (the terrain, of course, is unmoved). Mulan uses her bow with a more conventional, strictly lethal intent for the final portion of ''Divine Mastery''.
* {{Hammerspace}}: The spear that she pulls out for ''Spear Thrust'' and the second portion of ''Divine Mastery'' seemingly comes out of nowhere, unlike her sword and bow which are visible on her person.
* HeroesPreferSwords: It'd probably be more practical for Mulan to use her spear more (after all, many spear-users in ''{{VideoGame/Smite}}'' benefit from a bit more attack range than other close-range gods' basic attacks), but nonetheless her most commonly used weapon is her jian sword.
* HypocriticalHumor: Her directed taunt towards Bellona notes that the goddess of war should focus on just one weapon.
* MultiMeleeMaster: Makes use of a jian sword for her basic attacks, ''Cross Strike'' and the first bit of ''Divine Mastery'', but also gets a spear [[{{Hammerspace}} out of nowhere]] for ''Spear Thrust'' and the second strike of ''Divine Mastery''.
* TheMusketeer: A pretty [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] example just barely qualifying - while the background intent is obviously for Mulan to be quite handy with a bow in addition to her sword and spear, she uses said bow quite sparringly compared to the likes of, say, Ullr. Her basic ability utilizing it, ''Grapple'', is more using it to [[YouWillNotEvadeMe close in on a target]] to use her other weapons on them rather than just shooting from afar as a bow is supposed to be used.
* RedIsHeroic: Not unlike Hachiman, Mulan is a genuinely heroic warrior who is decked out in red.
* ReluctantWarrior: As shown by one of her introduction voicelines, she despises war and only fights because she has no choice.
* SadlyMythtaken: In her original lore Mulan never explicitly ascended to godhood; this element is purely a means to justify her entrance into ''SMITE''.
* {{Sentai}}: Has a skin of the same name that makes her into a red-suited ranger.
* ShockwaveStomp: Caused in a cone for the third strike of an Adept skill level ''Cross Strike'', and in a large rectangle for the spear portion of ''Divine Mastery''.
* ShoutOut: Her passive is ''Training Arc'', which grants her benefits from successfully damaging with her weapons through her abilities. The original folk tale of Hua Mulan doesn't especially involve her training once she joins the army as she is already an accomplished martial artist when she signs up, so her passive is essentially an oblique reference to the iconic [[TrainingMontage "I'll Make a Man Out of You" scene]] from ''{{WesternAnimation/Mulan}}''.
* SweetPollyOliver: She is most well-known for disguising herself as a man to take the place of her elderly father in the military, though by the time she appears in SMITE she doesn’t need to assume a male identity anymore. Her Mysterious Warrior skin, however, has her playing the trope straight—complete with a flat breastplate, a face-hiding scarf and a voicepack in which she is trying to perform a masculine persona.
* TrainingMontage: Referenced by her ''Training Arc'' passive (doubling as a ShoutOut to the [[{{WesternAnimation/Mulan}} "I'll Make a Man Out of You" scene]]), which improves Mulan from causing damage with her weapons by her abilities. Think of a match with Mulan as a very-poorly-edited and overly-long training montage.
* TrickArrow: Unlike Hachiman, Mulan most commonly uses her bow to [[GrapplingHookPistol attach a rope to her target via the arrow,]] then pull herself and her target together.
* WalkingArmory: She holds a sword for usual use and has a bow on her back, but also uses a spear. Exemplified by ''Divine Mastery'' which has her use the sword, then the spear, and finally the bow in quick succession.
* WhatTheHellHero: Delivers one specifically to Zeus and Bellona, but by extension most of the gods in SMITE, during the events of Odyssey: Perilous Seas. She points out to them how their continued unwillingness to put aside their selfish feuds causes the world and humanity to suffer.
** From a non-canon standpoint, Mulan's default and ''Mysterious Warrior'' voice packs have a directed taunt towards an enemy Guan Yu where she sorrowfully bemoans his "betrayal", and her Norse themed Aesir skin has a similar attitude towards an enemy Heimdallr or Odin.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: ''Grapple'' has her pull herself and an enemy god hit by it toward each other, stunning the enemy god.

The Monkey King and the hero of ''Literature/JourneyToTheWest''. Born out of a magical rock, Sun Wukong assumed leadership over the monkey tribes, learned many useful arts and skills from a Taoist monk and snatched the size-changing staff Ruyi Jingu Bang from Ao Kuang. He wiped out his name from the Book of Life and Death (thus gaining functional immortality) and united many monster tribes under his banner. This garnered the interest of the Jade Emperor.\

Inviting him to heaven, the Jade Emperor gave him a position within the CelestialBureaucracy, but it turned out to be little more than "stable boy". Furious at this, Sun Wukong declared himself "Great Sage, Equal of Heaven" and he waged war on the heavens, nearly winning until the Buddha intervened and punished him by imprisoning him beneath a mountain for five centuries.\

His chance at redemption came when the monk Tang Sanzang was seeking disciples to protect him on his journey to the west to collect Indian sutras. To better control him, Buddha granted Tang Sanzang a golden circlet to be put on Sun Wukong's head. Because of the journey's 81 trials and help from two other disciples, Sun Wukong matured and truly became a heroic figure. For his service and strength, he was awarded with buddhahood, ascending to heaven and gaining true immortality.\

Throughout his journey, Sun Wukong was well-known for his love of a good fight, so when the gods from many pantheons fight, you can be assured that he'll be there.\

For several months in 2013, he was replaced in-game by Hun Batz, the Mayan howler monkey god, who shared most of his previous abilities. He later returned as a more fierce Warrior.\

Sun Wukong is a Warrior god with several tricks that give him flexibility in battle while still dealing good amounts of damage.

* His passive, ''Undefeated Body'', gives him bonus increased protections and power whenever he is below 60% health, starting out significant and increasing as he levels up.
* His first ability, ''The Magic Cudgel'', makes his weapon grow in length as he slams it into the ground in front of himself, dealing damage to all enemies in a long line. Minions and jungle camps take additional damage.
* Sun Wukong's second ability, ''Master's Will'', makes him swing his weapon around, striking all nearby enemies, dealing damage and reducing their Movement and Attack Speed.
* His third ability, ''72 Transformations'', makes him assume one of [[NonIndicativeName three]] shapes - an Ox, which is immune to slows, roots and knockup effects, deals damage, and knocks away any enemy it runs through, a Tiger, which is quicker, mauls the first enemy it encounters, deals more damage, and stunning briefly, or an Eagle, which is immune to slows and roots and is the fastest of the three forms, but has no offensive potential of its own. All three transformations share a cooldown.
* Using his ultimate ability, ''Somersault Cloud'', Sun Wukong charges briefly before leaping onto a cloud, hidden from sight and protected from harm while his health regenerates. When the duration expires or at any time of his choosing, he can leap from the cloud onto a targeted area, smashing the ground and dealing damage to nearby enemies. In addition, Sun Wukong leaves a decoy of himself when he leaps, which will charge enemies and attempt to fight. The decoy has the exact same health and protections as the real Wukong and half of his Basic Attack damage, but it can be killed instantly by any hard CC, save for banishes and knockbacks. If the decoy is killed, Sun Wukong will be revealed but will suffer no other ill effects.\

Sun Wukong's alternate skins include Silver Sage Sun Wukong, Heavenly Warlord Sun Wukong, Dark Lord Sun Wukong, Team [=SoloMid=] Sun Wukong, and Sun Wu Xing.
----
* AnimeHair: Big, blond and spiky hair. Rather fitting, considering [[Franchise/DragonBall who]] he ended up becoming the inspiration for.
* ArtEvolution: Received a complete remodel, which updated his formerly silly look to better represent the badass monkey king from mythology.
* CarryABigStick: His Ruyi Jingu Bang, a magical SizeShifter staff stolen from Ao Kuang, is one of the most well known staves in fiction.
* CriticalStatusBuff: His passive gives him a bonus to power and protections when he's at 50% health or lower.
* DarkerAndEdgier: Compare him [[http://rurikhan.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/SmiteSunWukong.jpg before]] and [[http://i.imgur.com/DaB77t2.jpg after]] the remake. This helps differentiate him from other Wukongs and Wukong-likes in [=MOBAs=], which normally focus on his lighthearted trickster side. This Wukong shows off his jaded side that rarely gets referenced.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Wears a single pauldron on his left shoulder, without one to match on his right.
* FoeTossingCharge: In bull form after casting ''72 Transformations,'' Wukong charges forward, knocking up enemy gods he charges through.
* FunnyAnimal: He’s a very anthropomorphic monkey; unlike fellow monkey Hun Batz, who has a monkey’s proportions and runs on all fours, Wukong has a humanoid body shape and walks upright. His only monkey-like traits are his tail and fur.
* GuestFighter: He has two Exclusive skins that turn him into Donatello, TheSmartGuy of the Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles. To replicate the effects of Wukong's transformations, Donnie uses various drones and gadgets he constructed.
* HitAndRunTactics: A combo for Sun Wukong is to swoop right into the enemy ranks with his ultimate, unleash everything he's got, and then run away with the eagle (or his ox form, if there are some enemies getting in the way). In general, he's uncharacteristically good at poking enemies from a distance compared to other Warriors while also having excellent tools for escaping.
* InASingleBound: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] - despite the usual for Sun Wukong, while his Jin Dou Cloud can help him leap a distance that's normally impossible for him and most gods with ''Somersault Cloud'', it's a ''lot'' smaller than the "cross oceans" or "leap right into Heaven" distances as expected from him.
* InTheHood: As Dark Lord Sun Wukong, he wears a black, hooded cloak and is a generally evil persona.
* ItRunsOnNonsensoleum: His old ultimate was... celebrating the Chinese Year of the Monkey, more often than once every twelve years. Really, that's exactly what it was. It feared enemies for a short time upon entering the celebration and damaged them while inside it.
* JackOfAllStats: Sun Wukong has been seen in both the solo lane and the jungle with his combination of damage, CC, and mobility. When his damage output was substantially nerfed, he leaned more towards MasterOfNone and was seen more often as a support, until the Nox patch, which gave him the ability to pull off the solo and jungle roles again, thanks to a buff on ''The Magic Cudgel''.
* MonkeyKingLite: Averted. Unlike in other [=MOBAs=], this is the actual Sun Wukong, not someone based on him.
* NoSell: As an ox in ''72 Transformations,'' he can't be rooted, slowed, or knocked up. His eagle form is similarly immune to roots and slows.
* PutOnABus: For a large part of 2013, he was replaced by Hun Batz. Lampshaded in one of his jokes:
--> '''Sun Wukong:''' Hah! Hun Batz is an odd fellow! How could anybody mistake him for me?
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: After the Heavenly Court humiliated him by making him a mere stable keeper in the CelestialBureaucracy, Sun Wukong rampaged through Heaven and nearly defeated the armies of the Jade Emperor before the Buddha stopped him. Nowadays he's on better terms with the Heavenly Court, though he retains his independent and irreverent attitude.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: His animal forms are particularly good at allowing him to escape sticky situations, especially the eagle form (which has been nicknamed the "bird of nope").
* SealedBadassInACan: Became this when the Buddha trapped him under a mountain for five centuries. He was only let out so that he could earn his redemption by escorting Tang Sanzang on the journey to India.
* SelfDuplication: ''Somersault Cloud'' summons a clone of him. It attacks nearby enemies freely until killed and is just as tough as the original, though it cannot use abilities, only does half as much damage, and is instantly killed if struck by hard crowd control.
* ShoutOut:
** The sound effects on his "Dark Lord" skin [[Franchise/StarWars sound suspiciously similar to something....]]
** Surprisingly, one of his lines shouts out to a [[Film/ManOfSteel very different film.]]
---> '''Dark Lord Wukong:''' You think your wards are safe? [[ChewingtheScenery I WILL FIND THEM!]]
* SmokeOut: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] with his Somersault Cloud - instead of placing down a cloud of vapors where he's at and leaving the location to escape, the cloud itself actually takes him out of the location.
* SpinAttack: ''Master's Will'' in a nutshell - he spins Ruyi Jingu Bang around him. It damages and slows you.
* TelescopingStaff: Well, yeah, this is Sun Wukong we're talking about, so naturally his staff's length is extended for the use of ''The Magic Cudgel'' and ''Master's Will''.
* TookALevelInBadass: He has been given a more serious-looking model and his attacks are less festive than before.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: One of his abilities lets him turn into an ox (for charging through enemies), a tiger (for chasing down enemies and stunning them), or an eagle (for moving as fast as possible). In lore, he fought Erlang Shen in a ShapeshifterShowdown.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Wukong is ''ripped,'' and his chest is completely bare save for a sash holding the scroll he carries in place, and the belt that fastens his single pauldron.
* WeWillMeetAgain: One of his death quotes:
--> '''Sun Wukong:''' This is not over.

There is a legend of a headless warrior from the East, not a murderous monster, but simply a man that not even death could defeat.\

In the past, the warrior-poet Xing Tian served the Flame Emperor, who waged war against the Yellow Emperor. While the Flame Emperor eventually surrendered, Xing Tian's spirit was not deterred by the numerous defeats. He rallied the Flame Army one last time in order to face the Yellow Emperor in the Sky Palace. While his army fought below, Xing Tian engaged in a duel against the Yellow Emperor, who eventually gained upper ground and beheaded Xing Tian.\

Years later, Xing Tian awoke. Even without a head, his fighting spirit lived on. A face formed on his chest and he sought new battles. For him, there is no defeat nor death. As long as there is a battle to be fought he will never surrender. And he will never die.\

Xing Tian is a Guardian god, emphasizing on staying in the fight longer than almost anybody else.

* Xing Tian's passive, ''Smouldering Rage'', grants him bonus HP regeneration and increased Max HP for 18 seconds every time he hits an enemy with an ability, stacking up to twelve times. Additionally, his HP regeneration has no maximum limit.
* His first ability, ''Furious Roar'', has him [[MakeMeWannaShout bellow from his chest with great force]], damaging enemies as well as debuffing their basic attack damage, in addition to making them lose up to [[PercentDamageAttack 3% of their maximum health every second]] of the debuff's duration.
* His second ability, ''Hook Slam'', has him launch his opponents into the air with his axe before slamming them down, rooting them.
* His third ability, ''Sky-Cutting Axe'', causes him to leap forward, damaging enemies where he lands. Xing Tian has increased protections during the leap, which are refreshed if he connects with a target. He may make a second leap within three seconds or cancel into another ability after the first leap.
* His ultimate, ''Whirlwind Of Rage And Steel'', has him swing his axe around him three times, each swing doing successive heavy damage and catching enemies hit before throwing them away.\

Xing Tian's alternate skins include Indomitable Xing Tian, The Undying Xing Tian, [=TierMonster=] Xing Tian, and Siege Engine Xing Tian.
----
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: His skin is incredibly green, even without all of the flames. WordOfGod specifically notes similarities to ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk.
* AttackAttackAttack: Keep hitting the enemy with your abilities - Smouldering Rage may allow you to outlast them if you do.
* BaritoneOfStrength: Has an incredibly low growling voice.
* BellyMouth: He doesn't even have a head!
* BloodKnight: Said best in his lore:
--> "As long as there is a battle to be fought he will never surrender. And he will never die."
* {{Cephalothorax}}: He lost his head and grew a face on his torso.
* CoolHelmet: Despite being headless.
* CulturedBadass: Referred to as a warrior-poet in his lore, but several of his lines in-game have him eloquently explaining battle tactics. He even directly quotes [[Literature/TheArtOfWarSunTzu Sun Tzu]].
--> ''A sharp mind is best, but a sharp blade makes a close second.''
* CutlassBetweenTheTeeth: Holds his axe in his [[BuffySpeak chest-face-mouth thing]] for his clap emote.
* {{Cyclops}}: His Tiermonster skin only has one eye.
* {{Determinator}}: Evident in his backstory, as well as [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration in gameplay]], considering that his passive lets him keep fighting well beyond most others — provided he gets some amount of breathing room. Many of his quotes reflect this aspect of him, particularly his low health and death quotes.
--> (When low on health) ''"So long as I live and breathe I will fight!"''
--> (When killed) ''"I can still fight! Why are we giving up so easily?"''
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: Because of his BellyMouth state, his eyes are located on his nipples. This is also true to the original myth.
* GuestFighter: Has an Exclusive skin that turns him into Krang, the alien brain nemesis of the Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles.
* HeroicBuild: Very much so. It makes the similarity to ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk even more obvious.
* LightningBruiser: Hits quite hard with numerous abilities to keep you from running, is very difficult to bring down being a Guardian, his two uses of ''Sky-Cutting Axe'' lets him move across a longer distance than usual basic dashes afforded to Guardians (and can be used to dodge, twice), and even ''Hook Slam'' and ''Whirlwind of Rage and Steel'' both allow him to move completely freely during their wind-ups and castings to better position himself whenever the enemy would not like him to.
* MakeMeWannaShout: ''Furious Roar'' entails him letting out a loud bellow from his BellyMouth, which inflicts damage to enemies and reduces the damage their basic attacks inflict, all the more daamging them every second by a small percentage of their maximum health.
* MyEyesAreUpHere: Inverted in his joke. His eyes are ''down'' there, where the normal recipient of the trope (like Aphrodite) would be [[MaleGaze usually stared at.]]
* OffWithHisHead: What happened to him in his backstory. [[{{Determinator}} It didn't keep him down long.]]
* PlantPerson: Has a plant-themed skin, Grove Keeper, whose body is made out of wood, vines, and stone.
* PrinciplesZealot: While Xing Tian's sense of honor and {{Determinator}} qualities are usually portrayed in a positive manner, they lead him down a rather dark path during the Heavenly Light event. [[spoiler: Believing that the Jade Emperor is an unworthy ruler compared to his own original master, the Flame Emperor, he damages the prison of an ancient demon king in order to draw out the Jade Emperor for a duel. He doesn’t seem to care that the demon in question almost destroyed the world in the past, or how even just loosening its bonds causes monsters and ghosts to rampage across China. He doesn’t stop even when Jing Wei, the daughter of the Flame Emperor, comes to plead with him. He believes that he is simply vindicating his master’s honor.]]
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: In the Heavenly Light event, Xing Tian defies the Heavenly Court as well as death. [[spoiler: He thinks that the Jade Emperor is undeserving of his position and wants nothing more than to challenge the TopGod himself to a duel — even if he must nearly free an ancient evil to do so.]]
* ShoutOut: Unsurprisingly given he is a Chinese CulturedBadass, he quotes ''[[Literature/TheArtOfWarSunTzu The Art of War]]'' liberally in a large amount of his lines.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name is supposed to be one word: Xingtian.
* SpinAttack: His ultimate. Instead of just doing tick damages like Thor's ''Berserker Barrage'' or similar skills on other MultiplayerOnlineBattleArena games, Xing Tian also drags any enemies caught in his spin for a ride before tossing them away.
* WarriorPoet: Apparently, he loves doing this to proclaim his victory.
-->''I await the chance to carve my poetry upon your fountain.''

As the dragon king of the East Sea, the regal and powerful Ao Kuang controls the storms and tides with a flick of his claws. These days, however, the past humiliations he suffered make him seethe with rage.\

Ao Kuang demanded tribute from those living on the Eastern shores. As reward for the worship, he calmed the tides, contained the rivers, and gave plentiful rainfall for crops. DrunkWithPower, Ao Kuang became greedy and demanded greater sacrifices, sending floods, tidal waves, and storms if his demands were not met. The people were so struck by fear that they dared not report to the Jade Emperor. For a time, Ao Kuang enjoyed his power.\

Then came the humiliations. First, the Monkey King Sun Wukong stole the pillar that aided him in controlling the tides, the Ruyi Jingu Bang, then, after besting him in combat, he demanded even more gifts in the form of equipment. Next came the demigod Nezha who shook his palace by playing in the streams and killed both his favorite scout and third son when Ao Kuang ordered them to kill him... and then Nezha tackled him to the ground, forcing him to submit, when Ao Kuang threatened his father with a report to the Jade Emperor.\

For the moment, Ao Kuang was humbled, but as the battle between gods loomed, he saw it as a chance to rise again and re-exert his dominance as the great dragon king of the sea.\

On September 2014, Ao Kuang was retired from the game, with his kit and general appearance transferred to Kukulkan. He returned two months later with a new look and abilities that fit him better.\

Ao Kuang is a Mage god that dishes out damage at close range, operating much like an Assassin.

* His passive, ''Dragon King's Sword'', slowly generates up to three stacks over time. When damaging an enemy god with an ability, a stack is consumed to heal Ao Kuang for a portion of his maximum HP and reduce the ability's cooldown. Excecuting an enemy with his ultimate instantly charges all three stacks.
* Using his first ability, ''Water Illusion'', Ao Kuang teleports a short distance forward, going into stealth and creating a watery copy of himself. The stealth lasts four seconds or until he attacks or is attacked. He may detonate the illusion at any time, damaging nearby enemies.
* Ao Kuang's second ability, ''Dragon's Call'', has him summon six dragons to his side, lasting ten seconds or until used up. One dragon will leap onto any enemy Ao Kuang strikes with his basic attacks or ''Wild Storm'', dealing additional damage. Alternatively, he may use this ability again to launch all remaining dragons forward, striking the first enemy they encounter. This deals less damage than its regular use, but applies a slow that scales with the amount of dragons expended.
* Ao Kuang's third ability, ''Wild Storm'', has him unleash a storm of lightning from his sword in a cone.
* His ultimate, ''King of the Eastern Seas'', has him pick a single target in close range and knock the target into the sky. If the target is under a health threshold, Ao Kuang will then transform into a huge, majestic dragon and instantly devour the target, healing himself in the process. He will remain in the sky for a short time, and can choose a place to land within a wide radius, dealing damage to nearby enemies on landing.\

Ao Kuang's alternate skins include Tempest Ao Kuang, Dragon King Ao Kuang, Clockwork Knight Ao Kuang, Dragon Knight Ao Kuang, NRG Ao Kuang, Sand Viper Ao Kuang, and Admiral Ao Kuang.
----
* BishonenLine: His rework had him go from a literal dragon to a more humanoid king with dragon themes.
* BlackKnight: His Dragon Knight skin, only unlockable during the Odyssey 2016 event, gives him a [[TinTyrant suit of black European-style armor]] and turns his dragon form into a black European dragon with a red underbelly.
* BlowYouAway: Pre-rework, his kit was entirely focused around summoning malestroms and tornadoes to deal damage. Averted post-rework, where he uses water and lightning to attack foes.
* ButtMonkey: As his lore details, Ao Kuang's had to endure a HumiliationConga at the hands of Sun Wukong and Ne Zha. His lore mentions that he's determined to regain his dignity and re-exert his authority by joining the battle of the gods.
* CharacterCatchphrase: Before his remodel, you would often hear Ao Kuang screaming '''"A MIGHTY STORM!"''' when casting his AOE spell. This stuck so much that the phrase '''"A MIGHTY (Insert word here)"''' has been associated with Ao Kuang, so much that his re-release is rife with it. As a variation, when casting ''Wild Storm'', he will occasionally scream '''"A MIGHTY SWORD!"'''
* CoolCrown: Wears a golden one with a distinctive curved shape. It is actually an even more stylized version of the mianguan crown that Yu Huang wears.
* DeathOfAThousandCuts: He's designed to hurt through rapid basic attacks with his sword, especially if you build items that reduce the little attack lag he has. With his core items, it can make for some nasty burst per hit.
* DrunkWithPower: Especially so in Ne Zha’s backstory, where he leverages his authority as a Dragon King to demand tribute and sacrifices from the humans living along China’s coast. He’s been knocked down a peg by both Ne Zha and Sun Wukong, though.
* {{Expy}}: References the practice of getting Chinese deities PutOnABus and then replacing them with Mayan ones.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' ''[to Hun Batz]'' Why do Mayan immortals always look so familiar?
* FinishingMove: His ultimate when used as an execute is considered this, though when outside of the threshold Ao Kuang just launches his opponent upward.
* HornedHumanoid: Well, he is a dragon, so it's par for the course.
* HumiliationConga: A big victim of this in his lore. First, he's humiliated when Sun Wukong steals the magic pillar in his palace, gets beaten by him in combat, and is forced to give the Monkey King equipment. Second, his son and scout are killed by Ne Zha, ''then'' he's beaten by Ne Zha in combat, and forced to relent when he tries to kick the issue upstairs to the Jade Emperor.
* {{Invisibility}}: Ao Kuang post-rework can go invisible, similar to Loki, with ''Water Illusion''. He can use it to sneak around and execute surprise attacks, or execute a lone god with low hit points.
* ImAHumanitarian: His ult is powerful enough to let him eat ''gods'' and he seems to take some pleasure in this.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' Oh, I suppose this is another fine day for a battle! ...I am a bit hungry!
* KneelBeforeZod: He can't actually enforce it, but he demands it in one of his kill streak quotes.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' Kneel before me!
* LargeHam: Both before and after his rework, he's dramatic, loud and full of pomp.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' ''[spawning before rework]'' Let's take them... '''BY STORM!'''
* LordOfTheOcean: Specifically he's the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea, who controls storms and waves and demands tribute from those who live near his domain.
* MagicKnight: Post-rework, he becomes the second magical melee deity after Freya, although he plays more like a magical Assassin (or "Magical Loki" because of his stealth).
* MakingASplash: His old kit averted this, emphasizing the storm aspect of his role. The rework fixed this to an extent; he creates a watery illusion of himself with ''Water Illusion'', which he can detonate to damage enemies in its radius.
* PointyEars: Has these in his humanoid form, probably as a tell that he's a shapeshifting deity.
* PowerFloats: Instead of walking, he hovers over a disk of churning water. He's a god, and the Dragon King of the Eastern Seas, who can put out a tremendous amount of damage quickly when built.
* PutOnABus: For a few months, he was replaced by Kukulkan. [[TheBusCameBack Then he came back with a brand-new model. Even his old voice set comes back if you use Kukulkan's Sacred Dragon skin.]]
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: He is so far the only playable Eastern dragon in the game. Naturally, he has traits from Chinese mythology. May be a little subverted, since while Ao Kuang represents the Eastern dragon's regality and connection with water, he's been kind of DrunkWithPower and has had to suffer humiliations for that from both Ne Zha and Sun Wukong. It probably comes from his status as a Dragon King (and the most powerful one at that, since the other three do not have domains as large as his).
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' ''[pre-rework]'' Breath fire?! ''[sneers]'' Go back to playing D&D in your mother's basement.
* SadlyMythtaken: The reason for his temporary retirement. Ao Kuang is the ruler of the Eastern ''Sea'', yet his skillset was based on winds and squalls and had nothing to do with water (the only reasonable comparison being stormy seas). His personality and the lore he shares with Ne Zha and Sun Wukong also seemed to disagree if he was still a proud and cruel Dragon King or if this was after his humiliation. After his rework, he's a bit better about this; while his attacks don't scream "sea", they are decidedly water-based in appearance, and he's more clearly a proud Dragon King trying to assert his authority after various humiliations. Also another factor: Ao Kuang was known as a humanoid deity with the ability to shapeshift into a dragon, but his old model ''locked'' him in dragon form 24/7. The rework rectified this.
* ScaledUp: If he ults someone within his execute range, Ao Kuang will turn into his dragon form, chase them into the sky, and swallow them whole. Afterwards, he stays in his dragon form for a time and can dive down wherever he wishes within a certain range.
* ShockAndAwe: Half of his domain, along with water. ''Wild Storm'' has Ao Kuang unleash a cone of lightning from his sword.
* ShoutOut:
** His quote "Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with rice!", which is a reference to the popular quote for bumper stickers and shirts "Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!". Which in itself is a modified Creator/JRRTolkien quote: "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger."
** One of his jokes has him use a famous quotation from Creator/BruceLee: "Water can flow or it can crash! Be water, my friend."
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The correct spelling of his name using the Pinyin system is Ao Guang, but SMITE replaces the G with a K for some reason.
* ThisCannotBe: One of his death lines in the rework.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' I cannot be defeated! Ugh . . .
* {{Weredragon}}: Post-rework Ao Kuang spends most of his time in a humanoid form, but can assume his true dragon form to execute foes in his ultimate.
* WhatTheHellHero: After his rework, he can ''finally'' give a piece of his mind for Wukong's theft of that pillar.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' I'm sorry: Did you think you could just walk out of my palace without paying the consequences?!
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Has white hair that gradients to green at the tips, and is decidedly villainous in Ne Zha’s backstory.
* WizardBeard: Possesses a chin strip. This was one of the few facial features he kept after his relaunch.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: Dragon Knight Ao Kuang dips into this in a few of his quotes.
-->'''Ao Kuang:''' Doth thou expect to win?

Chang'e, the [[TitleDrop faerie of the moon]], was an immortal that ascended via tragic circumstance, not a crucible of creation, unlike other immortals. She was heaven's most elegant dancer and her skills attracted the legendary archer, Hou Yi. They were wed and everything seemed perfect.\

But after Hou Yi ended up shooting the nine suns, their father, the TopGod Di Jun, was furious. For that, both Hou Yi and Chang'e were stripped of their immortality and sent to Earth. Saddened with this, Chang'e no longer danced, but thankfully Hou Yi managed to find the Elixir of Immortality. But when he was on a trip, thieves assaulted their home attempting to steal the elixir. Unable to find a way to hide the elixir, in desperation, Chang'e drank the elixir, which not only granted her immortality, but also swept her to the sky, separating her from Hou Yi.\

Ever since then, Chang'e took up residence in the moon, unable to see her husband, and only has the Jade Rabbit for a companion. When the Earth is in peril because the gods waged war, Chang'e descended to help it, hoping to save the world without inciting the Di Jun’s anger and thus allowing her to reunite with Hou Yi.\

Chang'e is a Mage goddess, lacking in burst damage but providing sustained damage, healing, debuffs, survivability, and a powerful ultimate.

* Her passive, ''Jade Rabbit'', allows Chang'e to access the shop anywhere on the map by sending her Jade Rabbit companion to fetch the items she buys for her, not needing to go back to base to buy them. In addition, damaging abilities apply a debuff that increases the damage Chang'e deals to them by 5%, stacking up to 15%. Her abilities also grant her increased movement speed with no backpedal penalty during the casting time.
* Her first ability, ''Crescent Moon Dance'', damages all opponents in an arc in front of Chang'e with a side-sweeping crescent moon.
* With her second ability, ''Moonlit Waltz'', Chang'e performs an evasive aerial pirouette, becoming immune to damage for a brief moment. She also restores mana to herself and all nearby allies depending on how much damage she avoided.
* Her third ability, ''Moonflower Dance'', makes Chang'e twirl, releasing a ring of moon-flowers that heal her and all nearby allies while damaging nearby enemies.
* With her ultimate ability, ''Waxing Moon'', Chang'e dances and fires a beautiful waxing moon, damaging and stunning all enemy gods in a line in front of her, the stun duration increasing for each successive god hit.\

Chang'e's alternate skins include Bright Moon, Hunter's Moon, Sun's Bride, Enchanted, Moonlight Love, and Lunar Tango Chang'e.
----
* BattleCouple: If put on the same team, even more so if in the same lane, with Hou Yi.
* CleavageWindow: Her Lunar Explorer skin wears a spacesuit with a cleavage opening.
* CombatMedic: While not as potent as some characters' AOE heals, ''Moonflower Dance'' is still enough to get her classified as a "healer" character in Assault.
* DanceBattler: All of her abilities.
* DifficultButAwesome: Her abilities aren't hard to hit in general, but using her ultimate to its true potential can be. Chang'e can inflict the longest stuns in the entire game and completely turn a teamfight by hitting three or more enemy gods with ''Waxing Moon'', but good luck lining up that shot.
* DoomedByCanon: The Sun's Bride skin, meant to depict Chang'e back when she and Hou Yi were getting married, comes with several quotes that become far more tragic when the player thinks about how their story ends up.
* {{Expy}}: She is a rather major one to [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Sona]]: both are Asian women with blue dresses, both are TheVoiceless, both attack using blasts of music, and up until 2021 both even had very similar kits. Chang'e's muteness is especially egregious as it is clearly self-imposed and only serves to enforce the association, and has increasingly become TheArtifact as many of her skins have her fully voiced.
** Meanwhile, the Jade Rabbit mechanically functions as a Courier from ''{{VideoGame/Dota 2}}'', albeit one that can't level-up or hold more than one item.
* GenderFlip: In the Chinese novel ''[[Literature/JourneyToTheWest Journey to the West]]'', the Jade Rabbit (Yutu) is portrayed as a female and is a formidable combatant, even against the likes of Sun Wukong himself!
* [[GodOfTheMoon Goddess of the Moon]]: Though it’s more accurate to say that she is a goddess who resides on the moon, Chang’e is indeed the most famous lunar deity in Myth/ChineseMythology.
* HotterAndSexier: Players were quick to point out how much larger her breasts appeared to be when her splash art was updated.
* {{Lunacy}}: Her abilities utilize the light and imagery of the moon in conjunction with dance moves.
* MaleSunFemaleMoon: She is the moon to Hou Yi’s sun. The symbolism is enforced with her Sun’s Bride skin (which complements his Moon’s Groom skin).
* MoralityPet: As with the original source, it is implied that she's this to Hou Yi, her departure to the moon serving as [[StartOfDarkness the start of his downward spiral into tyranny.]]
* NoSell: ''Moonlit Waltz'' offers a brief period of total immunity to damage, even from the strongest sources.
* PaintedOnPants: Her Koven skin wears tight pants that don't leave much room for imagination.
* PirateGirl: Has two pirate-themed skins called Pirate Admiral and Pirate Queen.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The Jade Rabbit that does the talking for her and works as her delivery boy.
* SadlyMythtaken:
** Her association with dancing is exclusive to this game.
** Her muteness is also exclusive to this game (specifically the American version).
** She is called a faerie in the game. While it is a common translation for ''xian'', a Taoist immortal, it gives an idea that she is part of TheFairFolk, which she isn't.
** There was only one robber in the source and it was Hou Yi's apprentice.
* ServileSnarker: Occasionally, the rabbit snarks or silently complains/grumbles when Chang'e [[YouGetMeCoffee tells him to buy an item.]]
-->''Oh, sure thing! Why don't I just tend to the garden, polish the silver, and prepare a sandwich while I'm at it!''
-->''I keep saying you've got to move on girl, that Hou Yi ain't waiting around . . .''
* ShapedLikeItself: Her name literally means Chang the beautiful.
* ShoutOut: Upon starting a match, Chang'e sometimes says [[Music/MenWithoutHats "You can dance if you want to..."]]
** During her Victory Animation, the Jade Rabbit does a few dances such as the [[Music/MichaelJackson Moonwalk]] or the Travolta dance from ''Film/PulpFiction''.
** The Jade Rabbit itself likes to take cues from [[KillerRabbit Rabbit]] [[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail of Caerbannog]] when taunting.
-->''I'm not behind the rabbit. I am the rabbit!''
-->''I am the most foul, cruel and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! ...Oh, her? Yes, well, she's with me.''
** And from WesternAnimation/BugsBunny and WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland when running with items.
-->''[[WrongTurnAtAlbuquerque I knew I should have taken that left at Albuquerque...]]''
-->''I'm late, I'm late! For a very important appointment!''
** Her Enchanted skin is a walking one to fairy tales and Disney movies. Specific ones include Cinderella, Snow White, the Princess and the Frog, and Pinocchio.
* SoulBrotha: When equipping the Moonlight Love skin, since the Jade Rabbit gets re-colored black, he instead speaks like a black dude.
* SpicyLatina: Her Lunar Tango skin evokes this.
* TheVoiceless: She barely speaks at all, but the Jade Rabbit that accompanies her sure likes to brag.
** Actually averted when using the Lunar Tango skin where Chang'e speaks... with a Mexican accent. The rabbit just speaks when delivering items.
** The Sun's Bride skin averts this, as it depicts Chang'e during the time she married Hou Yi. She thus hasn't drunk the Elixir of Immortality and can speak.
** There's another aversion: in the Chinese server, apparently Chang'e can speak normally.
** [[OverlyLongGag Yet another aversion]] with her Enchanted skin.
** Here we go again: Her two pirate skins are also aversions.

There were no rivers in China as famed as the Yellow River; it's an important river that helped shape China's history. However, it was also a rather turbulent and treacherous river, capable of destroying villages in floods.\

One humble and wise man, Feng Yi, was saddened as his village was consumed by the Yellow River. To appease the river, he tied rocks to his belt and cast himself into the river, sacrificing himself. The river was apparently appeased and thus Feng Yi was promoted to godhood with a new name, He Bo.\

For a time, He Bo grew proud and boasted that the Yellow River was the biggest body of water anywhere. But eventually, he grew curious at the mention of the North Sea. He journeyed there, greeted by the Dragon King of the Northern Sea. Marveled by the warmness of the king and the vastness of the sea, He Bo was humbled and returned to the Yellow River with new wisdom.\

And as the gods battle, He Bo plans to remind them what it means to be humble, backed with the power of the Yellow River.\

He Bo is a Mage god who, with his passive and low cooldowns, can easily overwhelm the enemy with ability damage.

* His passive, ''Steady Flow'', increases his magical power for five seconds any time he uses an ability. Using another ability in that window will refresh the timer, as well as increase the effect, stacking up to three times.
* His first ability, ''Water Cannon'', deals damage to all enemies in a short cone in front of him, with an extremely short cooldown.
* His second ability, ''Atlas of the Yellow River'', unfurls the great scroll he carries on his back directly ahead of him. He Bo and his allies become immune to slows and move quicker over the scroll, while his enemies are slowed.
* His third ability, ''Waterspout'', creates a burst of water at a targeted area, covering both a good range and a modest AOE. Enemies hit by the spout take damage and are thrown into the air briefly.
* His ultimate ability, ''Crushing Wave'', makes He Bo turn into a great wave and surge forward, crushing any enemy caught in his path for immense damage.\

He Bo's alternate skins include Cascade, He Bro, Infinity Wave, the Sydney Shredder, and Lord of the Amazon He Bo.
----
* ArtEvolution: A very prominent example. He went from an elderly appearance to a younger one and gained gigantic, spiked hands.
* BigNo: His dying quote, which quickly gets peppered with drowning sounds.
* DashAttack: His ultimate, ''Crushing Wave''.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: According to his lore, he was originally a mortal man named Feng Yi who became a river god through HeroicSacrifice.
* {{Fratbro}}, SurferDude: His alternate He Bro skin turns him into this, complete with alternate voicelines.
* GiantWallOfWateryDoom: His ultimate certainly has the image. While it's not ''that'' much bigger than he is normally, the "doom" part definitely applies, given how much damage it does.
* GlassCannon: Or rather, water cannon, which is also the name of one of his abilities. He Bo is well-known for his enormous burst damage, with a joke even going around at one point that he uses "three ultimates" because of how hard he can hit with just his normal abilities. However, he is ''extremely'' frail and if he gets locked down under CC he's done for.
* HeroicSacrifice: This is the way he became a god.
* HotterAndSexier: Compare his [[http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2013/325/3/2/smite___he_bo_by_binary_map-d6v3pp9.jpg old model]] with his [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/thumb/7/7e/T_HeBo_Default_Card.png/250px-T_HeBo_Default_Card.png new one.]]
* ImMelting: Collapses into a puddle in his death animation. His BigNo devolving into gurgling really sells it.
* MakingASplash: Well, he ''is'' a river god.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Like Xingtian, his name is supposed to be one word: Hebo.
* WizardBeard: He Bo had a large beard and mustache going into it before his remake.

One of the creator gods of China, Nu Wa was the one who hand-crafted people from clay. After the World Pillar was shattered by two warring gods, the shift of heaven and earth caused Armageddon and turned the world into a very dangerous place. Nu Wa felt that it was her responsibility to protect her creations.\

First she created the five mystic stones from the elemental forces of nature: earth, water, fire, wood, and metal. Then she slew a gargantuan tortoise and used its severed legs to replace the World Pillar and lift the heaven, using the Elemental Stones to seal everything in place. While the world was never the same, Armageddon was averted. Along with her brother Fu Xi, Nu Wa then ruled China, ushering an age of recovery and prosperity as a beloved deity.\

However, when gods from various pantheons waged war against each other, Nu Wa sensed that it could trigger a similar Armageddon from the broken World Pillar. For that, she summoned the elemental stones and joined the war, as mankind was her creation and responsibility and she must protect them.\

Nu Wa is a Mage goddess that can provide her team with unique utilities.

* Her passive, ''Strength of Wood'', gives her a stack every time she hits an enemy with an auto-attack. When she has 5 stacks, her next attack will consume them to root a target if it hits.
* Her first ability, ''Mysterious Fog'', creates a cloud of fog at her position that drifts forward independent of her, granting allies stealth unless they attack and doing continuous damage to enemies.
* Her second ability, ''Clay Soldiers'', summons up to three soldiers made of clay from the ground that immediately charge an enemy, reducing their spell resistance. The soldiers stay alive for a while after summoning and behave like minions, targeting the nearest enemy god or structure.
* Her third ability, ''Shining Metal'', launches metal in a line in front of Nu Wa, dealing damage. If a Clay Soldier is hit by Shining Metal, it explodes, dealing extra damage and stunning enemies in a large area.
* Her ultimate, ''Fire Shards'', makes Nu Wa assume her true, half-serpentine form and fly into the sky, giving her allies visibility of all enemy gods. After a few seconds, Nu Wa launches off massive fireballs that hit everyone on the enemy team regardless of their location.\

Nu Wa was originally a different god entirely, but in August 2014 she was redone due to what Hi-Rez considered to be a confusing playstyle, as well as updated her appearance and giving her a new voice. For her old skillset, open this note.[[note]]Her passive, ''Elemental Crystals'', charges a crystal for every spell she casts, and when all five are active Nu Wa turns into a [[SnakePeople Naga]], refreshing the effects of all of her crystals. The Wood Crystal is attached to her passive and always active, giving her persistent HP regeneration. Her first skill, ''Fog'', creates a cloud of fog that Nu Wa and any allies disappear into, making them stealthed unless they attack, and does constant damage over time to nearby enemies. ''Fog'' also activates the Water Crystal, increasing her movement speed. Her second skill, ''Clay Soldiers'', summons up to five clay soldiers that behave like minion waves, going to attack the nearest enemy god or structure. ''Clay Soldiers'' activates the Earth Crystal, giving Nu Wa physical protection. Her third ability, ''Flame Pillar'', summons a crystal that detonates after a brief delay, doing more damage the closer Nu Wa is to the detonation point. It also activates her Fire Crystal, making her basic attacks do splash damage. Her ultimate, ''Pillar of Heaven'', summons four massive pillars from the ground that form a box of electrical energy that damages and heavily snares enemies that cross the threshold, and activates the Metal Crystal, which doubles Nu Wa's basic attack's damage.[[/note]] Her look was also changed due to repeated complaints by Chinese players that she didn't actually look like the mythological goddess.\

Nu Wa's alternate skins include Amethyst, Water Dancer, Nice and Naughty, Nu Horizons, Aurum, Challenger, Ace, Oktoberfest, and Old Wa.
----
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Her ultimate, even more so than Neith's; it can't even be blocked by a teammate, since it just hits everyone from above. Damage immunity/reduction is your only defense.
* ArtEvolution: As a result of Chinese players complaining that her in-game appearance didn't match her depiction in Chinese legend.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Specializes in these with her ''Clay Soldiers'', which can take away up to 75 magical protections at max rank, which is ''a lot''. To put it in context, the item-based armor penetration stat caps out at only 50.
* AscendedMeme: When she was re-modeled, fans called her new form 'New Wa'. When she gets a retro skin, it's officially named 'Old Wa'.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's one of the most benevolent characters in the game and among the most concerned for the fate of humanity in light of the wars between the gods, but her patience has its limits and she doesn't tolerate disrespect. When Emperor Zhou's lust for her reaches the point of him defiling one of her temples, she summons one of the most evil fox spirits she could for the express purpose of ruining his life. This backfires terribly when the fox instead drives his entire kingdom to ruin and then decides to spread the terror to the rest of mankind instead of coming back to her.
* BigNo: When she dies, and she really draws it out too, lasting nearly six seconds. After the second VocalEvolution, she shortens it a bit.
* CannonFodder: Her clay minions are very frail and are generally only summoned so that she can blow them up with ''Shining Metal''. However, they can also be used to take shots from a tower while she hits it.
** Pre-rework Nu Wa was notorious for this, summoning a large group of minions for the tower to chew through while she herself heavily damaged it with ''Fire Strike'' (the only ability in the game to deal damage to structures) and the double damage from her ultimate. She was one of the few gods capable of easily taking down an unguarded tower without the aid of a minion wave, and the only one to do so quickly. Removing that ability was one of the major reasons for her rework.
* {{Combos}}: Blowing up her ''Clay Soldiers'' with ''Shining Metal'' explodes the soldiers, causing additional damage and stunning enemies nearby the explosion.
* CrosshairAware: ''Fire Shards'' puts a rune on all enemy gods that serves as a timer to impact.
* DeathFromAbove: ''Fire Shards'' does this as a global damage skill.
* DifficultButAwesome: Despite its auto-aiming nature, ''Fire Shards'' can be this. Its damage is very low for an ultimate ability, so it serves as much a utilitarian purpose as it does a damaging purpose, as with the rest of Nu Wa's abilities. It can most obviously be used simply to secure kills or gain vision of the enemy team, but because it makes Nu Wa ascend to the sky, it can also be used effectively to dodge incoming enemy ultimates or simply as a panic button to get yourself out of danger for a crucial few seconds until one of your other skills comes off cooldown or help arrives.
* ElementalPowers: She possesses the power of the five Chinese elements: earth, water, fire, wood, and metal.
* [[GodEmperor God Empress]]: She was one of these together with her brother at one point.
* GoldAndWhiteAreDivine: As an ancient MotherGoddess, she is clad in gold cloth and her snake tail is covered in iridescent white scales.
* HotWitch: The Dark Summoner skin takes a sorceress aesthetic and runs with it with a skimpy outfit that exposes her legs, midriff, and cleavage.
* KaleidoscopeHair: Nu Wa's been portrayed with red, silver, brown, blonde, and black hair across her various skins and visual redesigns.
* MagikarpPower: In the beginning of the game, Nu Wa is an easily killable target with an escape that is quite simplistic to predict her location from and an ultimate that will do damage to a single player similar to many basic abilities. Later in the game, her ultimate alone can leave all of the squishy gods on the enemy team half dead, which ''can't'' be missed.
* MotherGoddess: The most well-known example in Myth/ChineseMythology. She is usually credited with the creation of humanity, but other sources make her out to be a goddess of creation in general.
* MookMaker: ''Clay Soldiers'' lets her create an extra wave of mooks for your side. Her update made them less numerous but more capable.
* MsFanservice: One of the most blatant examples, Nu Wa has an incredibly full figure that she barely covers. See {{Stripperific}} below.
* {{Mukokuseki}}: She's notably the only Chinese goddess to not look Chinese. She has green eyes and Hi-Rez can't decide what color hair she should have. Chang'e, Da Ji, and Jing Wei, on the other hand, all look Chinese. In fact, Nu Wa's the only humanoid [=PC=] period to not look like the culture she comes from.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: As in, nice job unleashing a malevolent terrorizing fox spirit (Da Ji) when your intention was just to punish one lustful emperor, god-empress of China!
* PowerFloats: She slithers across the air with her legs together like they're still her serpent form's tail.
* PowerTattoo: She has them all over her body, with the exception of her serpentine parts when transformed. True to the trope they glow, but not all at once. They light up in a wave pattern that spreads from her chest down to her feet.
* SadlyMythtaken: The mythological Nuwa was half-snake (at least) all the time whereas even after her rework, Nu Wa's still only half-snake for a short period of time (don't let her splash art fool you). Her elemental stones are also the wrong colors. Chinese theory is very clear that metal is white, wood is blue/green, earth is yellow, fire is red, and water is black. [[RealityIsUnrealistic Admittedly the jewel color changes make sense given not many people are going to understand the colorations outside of fire, especially water.]]
* SeashellBra: Her Cove Queen skin is a mermaid and wears a seashell bra.
* ShoutOut: Her Battleship Heaven skin rather obviously takes cues from "shipgirl" games like ''VideoGame/KanColle'' and ''VideoGame/AzurLane''.
* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: When she went through her visual redesign she was given the appropriate traits for this trope on her classic, Nice and Naughty, and Nu Horizons skins.
* SnakePeople: Before the update, she became this if she used all of her abilities within a short amount of time, refreshing the stats that they gave her. Now, it activates when she uses her ultimate or dies and has no impact other than visuals.
* SnakeTalk: Her old VA had this at various points, but it's still present in her current VA.
--> "Do I have a joke for you? Why yes and it's hisssterical!"
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Her name is supposed to be mashed like lots of other Chinese gods and the "u" needs an umlaut above it: Nüwa.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Old Nu Wa wore a one piece suit made out of what appeared to be snake scales with nothing but a thong and a loincloth covering her. New Nu Wa is even ''worse''; all she has covering her torso is a thin strap of cloth over cleavage.
* {{Underboobs}}: Feature prominently in her new character model, along with exposed midsection.
* VaporWear: She's obviously not wearing anything underneath that cloth across her breasts. You can even see her nipples underneath said cloth on her Water Dancer skin's card.
* VocalEvolution: Nu Wa has undergone ''two'' instances. First when she was first remodeled, getting a new VA. And then, some time later, her old VA was called back to re-record her new form's voicelines.
* VolleyingInsults: She appears to be doing this with her fellow serpent Kukulkan, both mocking parts of the other's serpentine anatomy in directed taunts.
--> "You call that a tail?!"
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: Her Challenger and Ace skins are dressed like a professional beach volleyball player.

The TopGod of the Chinese Pantheon and head of its CelestialBureaucracy. He is the also the maternal uncle of Erlang Shen and the erstwhile foe of Sun Wukong. While he has long been content to govern Heaven and Earth from his celestial palace, he has now decided to personally enter the Battleground and save a world in need.\

Yu Huang is a Mage who utilizes the powers of the phoenix and Pearl Dragon, cultivating his Dao to maximize his impact on the battlefield.

* His passive, ''Master of the Dao'', has him attune himself to the Dao over time, generating Dao stacks over time (up to twelve) and can gain additional stacks by damaging enemies after a few seconds of not taking or dealing damage. After obtaining at least 6 stacks of Dao, Yu Huang becomes Attuned, allowing his basic attacks to bounce to hit an additional enemy. While Attuned, Yu Huang will consume 6 Dao stacks when casting ''Flames of The Phoenix'', ''Celestial Flight'' or ''Dueling Dragons'' to enhance their effects.

* His first ability has him summon the ''Flames of The Phoenix'', creating four cinders that travel to the center of an X shape, dealing damage to enemies they touch, before exploding to damage and burn enemies. If Attuned, the explosion also reduces Magical Protections.

* His second ability, ''Dao Cultivation'' has him charge up, cultivating his Dao for up to three seconds. At any point during or after the channel, he can fire a projectile that damages and slows enemies hit by it while leaving a trail that detonates when the blast reaches the end of its flight to damage and root enemies standing on it. When fired, Yu Huang gains up to 6 Dao stacks depending on how long he channeled the ability.

* His third ability allows him to enter a ''Celestial Flight'', summoning the Pearl Dragon to fly through the air, untargetable by enemies and slightly increasing his movement speed. He then slowly glides down to the ground, dealing damage at his landing point, and can recast the ability to increase his downward momentum. If Attuned, the Pearl Dragon circles around his destination to knock back any enemies around him.

* His ultimate, ''Dueling Dragons'' has him conjure a dragon-shaped surge of energy while summoning the Pearl Dragon to oppose him. Yu Huang has a few seconds to aim his projectile before firing it, with the Pearl Dragon charging towards it in turn. The two dragons will damage and push enemies they pass through, and will explode when they meet, creating a damaging blast. If Attuned, the widths of the dragons are increased.

----
* AscendedExtra: After years of being a background figure for the Chinese pantheon, Yu Huang has officially been added to ''SMITE'' as a playable character.
* AuthoritySoundsDeep: As a divine emperor and pantheon leader, he has a deep, refined voice.
* BenevolentMageRuler: Yu Huang is basically a Daoist cultivation master who happens to be a GodEmperor. He speaks much of meditation, cultivation and attuning to the Dao, and can wield its power to devastating effect. He also rules over the Chinese pantheon with wisdom and fairness, and sees to the well-being of China in general.
* BigGood: for his pantheon and all of China. In his teaser trailer, he states how he is coming to save his mortal and divine subjects after hearing their prayers.
* BlingOfWar: He wears a layer of gold and jade armor on top of his flowing silk robes.
* TheCameo: Before his addition was confirmed, he was referenced through an in-game magical item called the Jade Emperor's Crown.
* CelestialBureaucracy: He governs the universe through one of those. He once tried to control Sun Wukong by giving him a post in the system, but it amounted to little more than "stable keeper". This hurt Wukong’s ego so much that he went on his infamous rampage through Heaven.
* ChargedAttack: He performs one in his ''Dao Cultivation'' ability. If he fires it early it will deal 60% of its damage, but if he chooses to continue charging it up for 3 seconds he will accumulate six stacks of Dao on his passive meter.
* CoolCrown: He wears a stylized [[http://i.epochtimes.com/assets/uploads/2017/01/1701090554202357.jpg mianguan]], a type of crown worn by actual Chinese emperors on special occasions. It is also the crown he wears in most traditional depictions of him.
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: Unlike all the other pantheon leaders in ''SMITE'', Yu Huang began his life as a mortal prince. After settling his kingdom into a peaceful state, he departed to cultivate his inner Dao and achieved godhood after ''several billions of years''. Since he truly earned his divine status, he is wise in ways that many other gods are not.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Like Artio, Cernunnos, and the Morrigan, his name literally translates to the title that he is given in the game, the Jade Emperor. The Chinese language version of the game avoids the repetition by changing his title into "The Heavenly Lord".
* DependingOnTheWriter: His directed taunt to Nu Wa, where he claims to have created humanity from clay instead of her, references the fact that differing versions of the human origins myth ascribes their creation to one or the other.
* DisappointedInYou: He expresses this towards his nephew, Erlang Shen, in a directed taunt.
--> ''"You are weak, nephew. I am disappointed."''
* DragonsUpTheYinYang: As the leader of the Chinese pantheon, his attire features a lot of dragon imagery and he summons a white Chinese dragon for two of his abilities. The phoenix and dragon motif on his jade halo also represents the unity of Yin and Yang.
* DynamicEntry: If Yu Huang lands on the ground with ''Celestial Flight'' while it is Attuned, the Pearl Dragon flies around him and knocks back enemies.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Yu Huang 玉皇 just translates to "Jade Emperor", so he's basically known only by his title.
* FireAndWaterJuxtaposition: His two summons embody this theme, with the phoenix personifying fire and the Pearl Dragon representing water.
* GoldAndWhiteAreDivine: Very much so, given that he’s a celestial GodEmperor.
* GodEmperor: the ultimate example of one in Myth/ChineseMythology.
* TheGoodKing: Yu Huang is the epitome of a wise and benevolent ruler. Even from his place high in the heavens, he senses the pain of man and god alike and is willing to come save them personally. He wants to ensure that they may one day be able to ascend and claim their rightful rewards.
* HeavenAbove: He has ruled from his palace in the sky for eons, and his court is called the Heavenly Court.
* HeroismEqualsJobQualification: According to his lore profile, he was made the Jade Emperor after he saved the world from an extremely powerful demon king.
* MysticalHighCollar: He wears one as a master of Daoist cultivation.
* MysticalJade: He's the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin "Jade"]] Emperor, after all. As if the inlays in his armor and clothing weren't enough, he also has a massive halo of solid jade floating behind him. The energy blast he fires in his ''Dao Cultivation'' ability is flecked with jade shards as well.
* MythologyGag: The Pearl Dragon comes from a legend about four dragons who petitioned Yu Huang to end droughts on earth; he ended up transforming them into the four main rivers of China, with the Pearl Dragon becoming the Pearl River. In addition, the [[https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/10028503/9d36641a5840ba5903b9b3a0410d6533be5c657e.jpg artwork]] for Yu Huang's recolor skin references the story of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, where he creates the Milky Way (or Heavenly River) to separate the former from the latter (his daughter).
** In one of his directed taunt lines, he chides Ao Kuang for not taking adequate care of the Jingu Bang (i.e. letting it get stolen by Sun Wukong).
* NotQuiteFlight: His third ability ''Celestial Flight'', despite having “flight” in the name. He simply has the Pearl Dragon carry him into the air before slowly floating back to the ground, but he can control the direction of his landing, gains increased movement speed and becomes untargetable for the duration.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: The Pearl Dragon is a Chinese dragon like Ao Kuang, but it has white scales and doesn’t take on a humanoid form. It is actually one of the four dragons that Yu Huang transformed into rivers according to Chinese legend (specifically, it represents the Zhu Jiang or Pearl River in southern China).
* ThePhoenix: He summons one when rising from his throne in the teaser trailer. It also makes a brief appearance in his ''Flames of The Phoenix'' ability.
* PlayingWithFire: His ''Flames of The Phoenix'' ability has him conjure four cinders that smash together to create a fiery burst. He also channels his Dao into flame-like projectiles for his basic attacks.
* PowerFloats: He levitates in the air while channeling his ''Dao Cultivation'' and ''Dueling Dragons'' abilities.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Unlike most other portrayals of him, ''SMITE’s'' Yu Huang takes an active role on the battlefield. In the Heavenly Light event he personally descends to confront Xing Tian when the headless warrior intentionally damages [[SealedEvilInACan the prison of an ancient, world-threatening demon that he (Yu Huang) had sealed long ago.]]
* SadlyMythtaken: His lore profile says that he once defeated a powerful demon king who threatened to conquer the world, but this comes from a passage on his Wikipedia page that has no verified source. While Daoist sutras do describe him as a vanquisher of demons, there are no traditional stories about him fighting a particular individual demon. Additionally, Chang'e's lore profile lists him as the father of the nine suns Hou Yi killed, but this is a case of him being confused with an older TopGod in Chinese mythology, Di Jun.
** He has a direct taunt line to Guan Yu where he states that the Saint of War is not yet ready to become the Jade Emperor. This is based on the popular misconception that Guan Yu is set to be Yu Huang's successor.
* ShoutOut: In one of his taunt lines, he says that he [[Franchise/StarWars senses a disturbance]] in the flow of Dao.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Wears two large pauldrons that look like golden dragon heads.
* SpiritCultivationGenre: As a Daoist deity who attained his divine status through cultivation, Yu Huang is able to utilize his inner Dao as a unique resource. He can accumulate Dao either by being out of combat (the slow way) or by using his ''Dao Cultivation'' ability (the fast way). If he builds up enough Dao, his abilities and basic attacks will become Attuned and gain enhanced effects.
* SummonMagic: He summons a phoenix for his ''Flames of The Phoenix'' ability and a Pearl Dragon for his ''Dueling Dragons'' and ''Celestial Flight'' abilities.
* TimeAbyss: He is at least ''billions'' of years old, due to how long it took for him to achieve immortality and divinity.
* UnusualHalo: An absolutely huge one made of jade, sculpted into the form of an interlocking dragon and phoenix.
* TopGod: Of the Chinese pantheon.
* WizardBeard: As a powerful wielder of Dao cultivation, he has a long, chest-length beard.

Formerly a man with ambitions no greater than scholastic excellence, on his death, Zhong Kui pitted his brilliance against the Imperial Examinations to become the emperor's councilor. But he's not exactly a pretty man and disgusted with his ugliness, the emperors cast him out. Zhong Kui was furious and hurled himself repeatedly at the palace gates until he died from it.\

The king of Hell judged him, but saw potential behind his ugly face. Zhong Kui was then appointed to become the lord of demons, to forever hunt and ensnare evils of the world. As he slew many demons, his name rose and people adorned his face to their houses to repel evil everywhere.\

And evil abounds when the gods wage war against each other. With the demons he has collected, Zhong Kui will smite the evil brewing beneath the war between the gods.\

Zhong Kui is a Mage god that is far beefier than the standard Mage but requires efficient laning and being in the middle of the enemy team to be at his most effective.

* His passive, ''Demon Bag'', captures demons every time something near him dies. For every demon captured, Zhong Kui's protections slightly improve, up to a limit. However, he loses half of the demons captured every time he uses his ultimate and every time he dies.
* His first ability, ''Expose Evil'', sends out a talisman that marks every enemy that it hits, damaging and slowing over time. The mark is consumed if the victim is hit by one of Zhong's other basic abilities, dealing a portion of the remaining mark damage immediately and enhancing the ability's effects.
* His second ability, ''Exorcism'', deals damage in a cone. If the enemy has been marked by ''Expose Evil'', Zhong Kui is healed for up to three marked spirits.
* His third ability, ''Book of Demons'', passively creates a mystic scroll that hovers beside Zhong Kui whenever the ability is off cooldown, firing magic bolts whenever he attacks that trigger Basic Attack item effects. When used, the ''Book of Demons'' swirls around him, dealing damage and stunning all nearby foes. If the enemy has been marked by ''Expose Evil'', the stun effect is doubled.
* Zhong Kui's ultimate, ''Recall Demons'', causes Zhong Kui to become immune to slows and knockbacks and has him release the demons from his ''Demon Bag'' to run down any enemy in the area, gaining speed the farther they travel. While ''Recall Demons'' is active, the protections gained from ''Demon Bag'' is doubled.\

Zhong Kui's alternate skins include King of Ghosts, G.I. Zhong, and Demon Catcher Zhong Kui.
----
* {{Acrofatic}}: A strange example in his taunt animation, which has him perform what can only be described as a butt-bounce. Averted by his gameplay, as he's one of the least mobile gods in the game.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has ash-grey skin, bordering on UndeathlyPallor. His god reveal shows him as being this color in life as well.
* AndCallHimGeorge: His victory animation has him playfully give a demon spirit a noogie, breaking its neck in the process.
* AnimeHair: His very weird beard, shaped like a half-moon from the front. [[OlderThanTheyThink His beard is largely portrayed like that in historical artwork,]] though it varies between just being wildly grown all around his head to the lengths of the ends noticeably stopping much like here. The beard usually sticks up strongly regardless.
* {{Combos}}: His ''Expose Evil'' ability is necessary for his other ones. Marking enemies with it is required for his ''Exorcism'' ability to capture demons to store into his bag and utilize his passive, also healing himself for consuming the mark. His ''Book of Demons'' may also consume the mark, stunning for double the duration when it does. His ultimate will temporarily grant double the protections the demons in his demon bag grant him at the cost of causing all of the demons in his bag to be emptied from his bag by the ultimate duration's end.
** As of update 5.9 this is no longer the case. Zhong Kui now gains passive stacks just by being around minion deaths, and while he still benefits from the ''Expose Evil'' + ''Exorcism'' combo it is no longer a vital part of his kit.
* DarkIsNotEvil: But he's damn scary compared to most good guys. [[RunningGag Noticing a pattern here?]]
* DeityOfHumanOrigin: Was originally a mortal man before he died and was made the Demon Queller by the King of Hell.
* DemonSlaying: His job is to capture all manner of rogue demons and spirits, trapping them in his bag.
* DifficultButAwesome: Zhong Kui is not an easy mage to play; he constantly has to get close to his enemies, has to capture demons to help himself survive, and is one of the slowest characters in the game. However, all three of Zhong Kui's spells can deal tremendous damage, his ultimate ability is a perfect tide turner in team fights, he has incredible health steal, and being one of the the tankiest mages in the game helps make up him having to get up close to the enemy.
* TheDreaded: To demons and ghosts, so much so that people post pictures of him on their doors to scare the spirits away. At the beginning of the Heavenly Light event lore, his mere approach is enough to make an entire horde of demons drop their attack on a village and flee.
* DrivenToSuicide: He passed the Imperial examinations with ease, which should have made him selected as an official. Instead, the Emperor had him cast out after seeing his ugly face, causing Zhong Kui to angrily hurl himself against the palace gates repeatedly until his body was broken from it.
* {{Gonk}}[=/=]FaceOfAThug: So unattractive, the Emperor had him thrown out, despite passing the exams with flying colors. Even when compared to the other overweight gods of Smite, Zhong Kui's ugliness is further emphasized with his UndeathlyPallor skin color and his wrinkled face. All this ends up serving him very well in his new job as Demon Queller, and the people of China have even used his appearance to frighten away evil spirits.
* FanDisservice: His "Neith's Biggest Fan" skin puts him in an exact replica of Neith's [[{{Stripperiffic}} skimpy outfit]]... and leaves him just as obese and unattractive as he is. You may now proceed to gag.
* GoodIsNotNice: Despite his role in hunting demons, his gameplay implies it'll kinda hurt. He has a joke where he preemptively apologizes if you don't survive his exorcising of the demons inside of you.
--> "I will free you from your demons. Sorry if you die in the process."
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His oversized calligraphy brush is also used as a MagicWand.
* LifeDrain: Removing Expose Evil cards from enemies with Exorcism heals Zhong Kui.
* MagicWand: SubvertedTrope - it's a calligraphy brush which he uses to write what appears to be [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulu "Fu" talismans.]] He shoots magical projectiles out of it for his basic attack and spins it around him for his ''Book of Demons'' ability.
* MakeMeWannaShout: His ''Exorcism'' ability is basically him shouting at the opponents, driving out their inner evil in a rather painful way.
* MightyGlacier: Is this among the Mages, as his passive allows him to build up a rather hefty amount of protections. However, he lacks both mobility and range, meaning he has to either use the slow on ''Expose Evil'' or bait somebody into attacking him to use his burst. If he ''does'' get you in range, though, you're in for a world of hurt, especially if he managed to tag you first.
* ShoutOut:
** When there's something strange in the Battlefield of the Gods...WhoYouGonnaCall [[Franchise/{{Ghostbusters}} Demon Catcher]] [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/smite.gamepedia.com/thumb/a/aa/T_ZhongKui_DemonCatcher_Card.png/250px-T_ZhongKui_DemonCatcher_Card.png?version=af7cac7c950bbc818ef717682f81f77c Zhong Kui.]]
** His G.I. Zhong skin is named after ''Franchise/GIJoe'', and the appearance and voice lines are references to various war movies.
* TheSmartGuy: Not that it did him any credit in life. [[VindicatedByHistory In death, however...]]
* SpinAttack: His ''Book of Demons'' ability has him hold his calligraphy brush outward and spin around.
* UndeathlyPallor: Has ash-grey skin, though his god reveal portrays him as that color ''before'' he died.
* VindicatedByHistory: In-universe, himself. The Emperor did not grant him the position he deserved from passing the Imperial examinations because he was ugly, and his suicide sent him to hell. However, the king of Hell made him the Demon Queller in death, and, even more ironically, his ghastly appearance became the method by which people paid tribute to him, as they put his visage upon their doors as a guardian spirit to ward away evil.

Emperor Zhou of the Shang Dynasty had a mad lust for the goddess Nu Wa. She constantly rejected him, but Zhou simply would not stop, going so far as to slip into her temple and defile it with lewd poems. Drained of her patience, Nu Wa decided to punish the emperor. She summoned the most conniving and wicked fox spirit she could find and gave it a mission to spiral his life into misery. That would turn out to be her greatest mistake.\

The nine-tailed fox spirit had been biding its time to eventually satiate its own lust. It then took form of the woman named Da Ji, becoming close to Zhou and manipulating him to increase his madness and sadism, delighting in the torture of men and their screams of pain.\

The atrocities she committed eventually drove the people to rebellion and overthrew Zhou. Cornered in his bed chamber, Zhou committed suicide. But Da Ji managed to sneak away. Now, free from the commands of the gods, Da Ji only has one plan for the war between gods: inflict pain and anguish upon any deities she comes across, satiating her endless lust for pain.\

Da Ji is an Assassin goddess designed around dealing consistent damage to her enemies over time.

* Da Ji's passive, ''Torture Blades'', applies Bleed to a target when she hits a basic attack. Bleed will deal damage for every second over two seconds, and can stack indefinitely.
* Her first ability, ''Horrible Burns'', heats up her claws, making her next basic attack Burn in addition to Bleed. Burn, when applied, instantly deals bonus damage, as well as damage over three seconds.
* Her second ability, ''One Thousand Cuts'', has her lash out four strikes over two seconds, each one applying Bleed. While this ability channels, she gains increased movement speed, becomes immune to slows, and takes less damage from behind.
* Her third ability, ''Trickster Spirit'', lets her teleport to a selected target nearby. When she arrives at the target, she strikes around her, dealing damage and applying Bleed to enemies hit.
* Her ultimate, ''Paolao'', has her summon and stand atop of the Paolao, her signature torture device. For a brief period, she can fire up to three blasts that chain all enemies hit to the Paolao, damaging and slowing them in the process. When the period is over, or when she's fired three shots, she has another brief period to leap to a target location nearby. She can also cancel the ability at any time to jump off early. When she does so, all chained enemies are dragged to the Paolao, stunning them and dealing additional damage over time. However, if a chained enemy becomes CC immune at any point then the chain breaks, freeing them and preventing any further chains from affecting them.
----
* AsianFoxSpirit: The Chinese version of a nine tailed fox, a Huli Jing. Her Death Lotus skin makes her into the Japanese variant (though interestingly she only has one true tail, the others are replaced by ribbons).
* BirdsOfAFeather: A platonic version. She tells the Morrigan in her directed taunt to her that she "likes her style, but I can't be having any competition", implying she thinks the two of them have a lot in common. She's not entirely wrong.
* CardCarryingVillain: She's by far one of the more malevolent gods in the game and completely revels in that fact.
* CunningLikeAFox: Discussed. One of her quotes references this trope and how you can't "out-fox a fox", potentially crossing over with TooCleverByHalf.
* CutenessProximity: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]], [[https://d1u5p3l4wpay3k.cloudfront.net/smite_gamepedia/b/b9/DaJi_Taunt_Directed_Ratatoskr.ogg she has a special line for killing Ratatoskr]] where she remarks his tail is very fluffy and cute. Then she goes back to normal by saying it'll make a great scarf.
* DamageOverTime: In keeping with her nature as a TortureTechnician, every single form of damage innate to her kit applies a damage over time effect, all the better for her to slowly bleed or burn her victims to death.
* {{Dominatrix}}: Her Deadly Desire skin gives her this personality.
* DragonLady: The first evil female Chinese deity who played the LadyMacbeth role to Emperor Zhou, even if she doesn't have dragon motifs. She also happens to be sexy.
* EvilLaugh: Lets out a maniacal one everytime she's about to execute Trickster Spirit. Just in case you want to be sure that [[CardCarryingVillain she's evil.]]
* {{Expy}}: Averted. Despite having the same title and being one of [[AsianFoxSpirit the creatures of origin]] that [[VideoGame/LeagueOfLegends Ahri]] took inspiration from and having [[MsFanservice similar getup and sex appeal]], Da Ji plays very differently than her, being a DamageOverTime-based physical assassin instead of a burst mage. Not to mention Da Ji doesn't have Ahri's inner moral conflict, [[CardCarryingVillain she revels in her evilness and sadism.]]
* FemmeFatale: Basically her backstory in a nutshell.
* FemmeFatalons: In addition to being a FemmeFatale, she wields claws attached to each of her fingers like a ring.
* FoulFox: The most famous example from Myth/ChineseMythology.
* FurAndLoathing: [[ImpliedTrope Implied]] with her kill taunt toward Ratatoskr, where she says his tail will make fantastic scarf, and few other gods of Smite are as obviously horrible.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Nu Wa sent her to punish Emperor Zhou and send his empire into ruin due to lusting over her. It worked too well; Da Ji became a free malevolent spirit terrorizing people beyond Zhou.
* HotAsHell: Her Deadly Desire skin gives her this appearance, but personality-wise she's a {{dominatrix}}.
* {{Hypocrite}}: One of her low health retreat lines has her complaining that she doesn't like "this feeling", doubtlessly meaning being in pain herself. This is coming from a character who delights in making others suffer.
* InTheBack: Averted--this isn't the best way to try fighting her. While channeling her second ability, her tails protect her back, reducing damage she takes from behind.
* KarmaHoudini: As a result of being SparedByAdaptation. Since she was never exorcised, Da Ji has yet to receive any punishment for all the innocent people she horribly tortured and murdered. And she's still free to roam about the world continuing her torture spree.
* LadyMacbeth: This was her role to Emperor Zhou, spurring him to further madness and tyranny, suggesting on how to make his reign even worse and hedonistic with "fun" torture while getting away with it in the end.
* RichBitch: Downplayed. After spending her time as Emperor Zhou's consort and enjoying luxuries, a lot of Da Ji's quotes refer to how much she really values luxurious treasures and rich materials (for example, she can ask if there's one with more jewels on it when she gets a defensive item). However, that's usually second-rate compared to her lust for pain and torture.
* {{Sadist}}: Like in the original works, Da Ji is a malicious TortureTechnician, thus her skills include sadistically making her enemies bleed and burn.
* SparedByAdaptation: Her eventual exorcism by Jiang Ziya/Taigong Wang isn't mentioned and neither is the other version of her eventual death: fleeing to Japan and resurfacing as one of the most evil {{youkai}}, Tamamo-no-Mae, before being exorcised there after repeating her terror spree.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Her name is meant to be one word: Daji.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Much like Neith, Freya, the Morrigan, and Aphrodite before her, Da Ji is wearing barely enough to cover her privates.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Of the Chinese pantheon since she's the only member who's truly evil and relishes it. At worst, some other members are [[GodIsFlawed flawed]].
* TortureTechnician: She's known to make tons of torture devices, though for the game, she only brought one of her most known devices, the Paolao.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Her Paolao ultimate's thing. Well, if you're not immune to crowd control while chained to it, that is. If you aren't, she will pull you and maybe two other people to it after it ends.

A God-Child with the destiny of a Hero, Ne Zha is a defender of those who cannot defend themselves, especially when the Gods get rather tyrannical.\

When Ne Zha was in his mother's womb, Ao Kuang terrorized the people and demanding many sacrifices, including children. And when Ne Zha was born as a full-grown headstrong boy, he entered training under the immortal sage Taiyi Zhenren. He was youthful and carefree, but also frequently argued about what was right and wrong with his father.\

When he played at the sea's stream, an insulted Ao Kuang sent his captain to silence him. Ne Zha killed that captain, and then Ao Kuang sent his third son Ao Bing. Ne Zha killed him too. After Ao Kuang threatened Ne Zha’s father and the people with ravaging storms unless repairs were made for the offenses, Ne Zha decided to sacrifice himself to appease the dragon king. Taiyi Zhenren then worked his wisdom and Ne Zha was reborn from the root and petals of a lotus plant. With new weapons, Ne Zha finally defeated Ao Kuang and saved the people.\

And now, as more Gods fight against each other, Ne Zha once again takes up arms to defend the people.

Ne Zha is an Assassin god that excels in focusing on a single opponent and sticking around in combat for extended periods.

* His passive, ''Righteous Spirit'', grants him a stack every time he lands a basic attack or ability, and an additional stack for critical strikes. He can store up to 20 stacks, with each one granting him a tiny amount of movement speed, and he loses the stacks when he spends more than five seconds out of combat.
* His first ability, ''Universe Ring Toss'', fires a projectile that rebounds between up to eight targets, dealing damage and applying minor protection and speed debuffs. Every hit will briefly increase Ne Zha's speed, and the ability can hit the same target multiple times but at greatly reduced damage.
* His second ability, ''Flaming Spear'', is a simple stimulant that increases Ne Zha's attack speed and critical chance for up to six seconds, as well as healing him based on the number of stacks of ''Righteous Spirit'' he has.
* His third ability, ''Armillary Sash'', throws his sash forward. If a god is hit, they are stunned while Ne Zha pulls himself to them, dealing damage in an area.
* His ultimate, ''Wind Fire Wheels'', makes Ne Zha dash forward. If he hits a god, he lifts them up into the air, effectively banishing both. At that point, he will attack three times (with a [=QTE=] sequence that can turn those attacks into crits) before slamming the unfortunate target into the ground, dealing damage to them and enemies in the area of effect, and ultimately leaping back to his starting location.

Ne Zha's skins include Blue Lotus Ne Zha, Cyberpunk Ne Zha and Fire Lord Ne Zha.
----
* ArtEvolution: He eventually gained a more polished visual update.
* {{Combo}}: Invoked with his ultimate, which is specifically described as "unleashing a combo" in the tooltip. In the sense of chaining different abilities together, he will usually use his ''Armillary Sash'' on his intended target first in order to guarantee that ''Wind Fire Wheels'' will hit.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Many new players mistake him for a pretty princess at first sight, in part due to his high-pitched voice and hairstyle. One of the Matches of the Days where all goddesses battle also touches on this trope.
--> ''... And no. Ne Zha is not a girl.''
** In Hel's updated voice pack, it turns out that Light Hel will mistake him as a girl.
-->'''Light Hel''': Take that, little girl!
-->'''Dark Hel''': That is a boy, you idiot!!
** Defied so hard in his ''Fire Lord'' skin, where Ne Zha gets a masculine voice, and [[{{Hunk}} a ripped body for a young boy]], to show that he's a guy.
** Somewhat justified. Some versions of Chinese mythology have him become a woman after dying and reincarnated. An example would be the 1986 version of Literature/JourneyToTheWest
* DynamicEntry: ''Wind Fire Wheels'' lets Ne Zha dash in from a good distance and then toss an enemy up into the air with him to smack them three times before they land and he returns to his original location.
* FlamingSword: Well, ''Flaming Spear'', as his second basic ability is so aptly named.
* HerdHittingAttack: One of the few gods with an area attack in his basic attack progression.
* HeroicSacrifice: His passive used to be this, where he would heal all allies around him when he died. It reflected when he did this in his backstory in order to quell Ao Kuang's rage. [[spoiler: It didn't help, as Ao Kuang started a big series of storms anyway.]]
--> ''I'll take one for the team.''
--> ''May my death be for good.''
--> ''I will not die in vain.''
* NotTheIntendedUse: With his large amounts of inherent damage and mobility, he became popular to use as a Guardian, relying on him and his partner [[UnstableEquilibrium slaughtering their opponents repeatedly]] rather than defending his own team as most Guardians try to.
* PinballProjectile: His Universe Ring bounces between targets.
* PlayingWithFire: Two of his artifacts/abilities have a prominent fire theme: his ''Flaming Spear'' and ''Wind Fire Wheels''.
* RedIsHeroic: He’s one of the most well-known heroic figures in Chinese folklore and is dressed mainly in red. Even more emphasized in his ''Fire Lord'' skin.
* RollerbladeGood: Of a sort: He skates around on his Wind Fire Wheels.
* ShoutOut: Ne Zha's dance and his Cyberpunk and Neon Trails skins are references to ''VideoGame/JetSetRadio''.
* WiseBeyondTheirYears: While it helps that he's immortal, Ne Zha is a responsible little boy who's concerned with the welfare of his team and fighting for the greater good and protection of mankind.

Once upon a time in China, ten suns suddenly appeared in the sky. The combined light and heat brought ruin to the Earth. The people begged the TopGod Di Jun to help them, and for that, he assigned the task to one of Heaven's greatest archers, Hou Yi.\

When he arrived on Earth, Hou Yi stood on the barren land with the ten suns flaring at him. He gave a warning shot to the suns, but they did not move. And thus, Hou Yi loosed a killing shot at one sun. As it exploded, it revealed a giant three-legged crow, falling to Earth. Hou Yi then shot down eight more suns, all of them yielding the same results. The last sun wisely behaved and dipped below the horizon before Hou Yi shot it.\

While the Earth had been saved, the crows were actually Di Jun’s sons. Angered at this, he exiled Hou Yi and his wife Chang'e to the mortal realm. Hou Yi was close to solving the situation with the Elixir of Immortality but Chang'e drank it alone to prevent thieves from consuming it, separating them. While crushed at the separation, Hou Yi tries to keep his steel as the Gods battle around the world. He's got an earth to defend.\

Hou Yi is a difficult Hunter god whose damage is very situational, but can be very powerful when played well.

* Hou Yi's passive, ''Suntouched'', grants immunity to critical hits for three seconds after getting hit by one.
* Hou Yi's first ability, ''Ricochet'', fires a powerful shot, which damages and passes through enemies. It can bounce twice off a wall with increased range and damage. If the arrow strikes a target with ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', it stuns.
* Hou Yi's second ability, ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', marks an enemy for 10 seconds. During this time, they are revealed to Hou Yi (even through stealth) and take increased damage based on the percentage of HP missing.
* Using his third ability, ''Divebomb'', Hou Yi launches into the air, then, after a short time, dives onto the ground, damaging any enemies at the area. If the target has ''Mark of the Golden Crow'', it is knocked back.
* Hou Yi's ultimate ability, ''Sunbreaker'', has him rapidly shoot nine arrows in the sky, ignoring the backpedal and sidestep penalties while firing, sending nine suns crashing one by one onto the target area. Enemies in the large impact area are damaged and slowed, with the slow increased for enemies afflicted by ''Mark of the Golden Crow''.

Hou Yi's alternate skins include Sunbreaker Hou Yi, Searing Sun Hou Yi, Moon's Groom Hou Yi, Grim Eclipse Hou Yi and Iron Crow Hou Yi.
----
* AchillesHeel: Not on him, but ''Mark of the Golden Crow'' provides one for all stealth-based gods (such as Loki), as being marked is the only thing that reveals invisibility.
* AnimalMotif: The Golden Crow.
* BattleCouple: If put in the same team, or even lane, with Chang'e.
* {{Combos}}: If an enemy has ''Mark of the Golden Crow'' on them, hitting them with his other abilities gets bonus effects. ''Sunbreaker'' slows the enemy hit, ''Divebomb'' knocks back the enemy from the center of his impact zone (...maybe right back into the area of ''Sunbreaker''?), and ''Ricochet'' stuns the enemy (also maybe while they're in the area of ''Sunbreaker'').
* DifficultButAwesome: ''Sunbreaker'' might be a huge area, but considering its delay, it's honestly still going to do a lot less damage than many other ultimates in the game against anyone with the common sense to move out of it, but if you and your team manage to keep an enemy in it, it'll do damage comparable to Zeus' ''Lightning Storm'' and that's ''before'' considering ''Mark of the Golden Crow'''s bonus damage. Oh yeah, and ''Ricochet'' can do around the same amount of damage as his ultimate if you manage to hit an enemy with all three potential hits.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Before his reveal via datamining, Hou Yi was foreshadowed in a directed taunt by Curse Voice Apollo.
* FashionableAsymmetry: His half-mask and armored bracer.
* FinishingMove: ''Mark of the Golden Crow'' basically makes any damage he causes much better at finishing off enemy Gods, but it causing ''Sunbreaker'' to slow enemies it hits (and it providing a nifty nine potential hits to get its damage boosted by ''Mark of the Golden Crow'') makes it the obvious real FinishingMove in his kit.
* GlowingEyes: Probably a way to indicate his [[ThePowerOfTheSun sun-themed powers.]]
* GoodIsNotNice: Hou Yi takes his job as the Defender of the Earth seriously and is a loving husband to Chang'e, but he has a vengeful streak, like swearing to make those who lower his HP to critical levels pay. This might allude to how, in some versions of his tale, he [[FallenHero slowly lose his sense of heroism]] after Chang’e’s departure and then [[{{Jerkass}} become not nice at all.]]
* GuestFighter: The April 2023 ''Franchise/GIJoe'' crossover gives him skins of Duke and Cobra Commander.
* LighterAndSofter: Judging from his quotes, this Hou Yi is taken from his phase as a noble earth-saving hero. It skips the darker versions of his story where, after Chang'e's departure, he loses his mind and [[FallenHero turns from a honorable hero]] [[FaceHeelTurn into a despicable tyrant.]]
** Chang'e isn't even ''mentioned'' in his lore, which focuses solely on his slaying of the nine suns. Even stranger, some parts ''do'' reference events after Chang'e's disappearance, such as a couple of jokes referring to where he died.
* MaleSunFemaleMoon: He’s the sun to Chang’e’s moon. His Moon’s Groom skin enforces this symbolism, with Chang’e’s matching skin being called Sun’s Bride.
* MasterArcher: The best known example from Myth/ChineseMythology. Those who play him can also feel like one if they master his ''Ricochet'' ability.
* MrFanservice: He has quite the chiseled jawline and displays much of his muscular body. Even though he is more covered up in his Moon’s Groom skin, he is still clearly meant to be dashing.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: If he kills Chang'e, his wife.
* NotQuiteFlight: ''Divebomb'' used to look like Hou Yi running on air, {{Wuxia}}-style. Somewhat rectified since removing the ability to move in midair.
* PinballProjectile: ''Ricochet'', as the name suggests, bounces off of walls.
* RedIsHeroic: As a hero who saved the world from being scorched by ten suns, his outfit prominently features the color red.
* ThePowerOfTheSun: He has a lot of sun motifs and shrouds his bow and arrow with solar fire. His passive is called 'Suntouched', which protects him from critical hits at times. And if that is not enough, his ultimate drops nine suns and all of their power onto a big area.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: His outfit doesn't ''quite'' hide his toned body.
* YankTheDogsChain: His intro animation after logging in when he was the newest god in the game. He finally gets a chance to get some BattleCouple action with Chang'e...and then Chang'e gets whisked away to the moon right in front of his eyes. Ouch.

At first, Jing Wei was a young and curious princess born to Yan Di, one of the individuals to claim the title 'Flame Emperor'. She was intrigued with the morning light and wanted to reach the place where it emerged through the seas, but her father always forbade it.\

Eventually, she sailed out alone with a tiny boat, but the sea was turbulent at that time. Jing Wei was swallowed by the sea and died. Her father saw the remnants of her boat and grieved.\

A miracle then happened. Jing Wei suddenly rose from the sea and was reborn as a bird. However, she was quite pissed that the seas had swallowed her and made her father grieve. Out of revenge, she made an oath to constantly fill in the ocean with pebbles until it became shallow and no one would suffer her fate. And for years, Jing Wei kept that oath.

She only took a small break when there was a greater matter at hand: when Gods wage war against each other and made humans suffer. However, Jing Wei assured that she'll be back to resume her oath once this is over.\

Jing Wei is a Hunter goddess notable for her unique midair mobility.

* Her passive, ''Rapid Reincarnation'', lets her soar into the air for a short time when she leaves the fountain, flying faster and over walls.
* Her first ability, ''Persistent Gust'', creates a gust of wind that knocks up and damages enemies. The gust lasts for several seconds; enemies that walk into it are knocked up and dealt damage over time, while if Jing Wei walks into it she recieves a lesser knock up and increased attack speed.
* Her second ability, ''Explosive Bolts'', gives her next 3 basic attacks increased width, area of effect, damage, and critical chance.
* Her third ability, ''Agility'', is a dash that increases her power and movement speed for a short time. She can also use ''Agility'' while knocked up by ''Persistent Gust'' or an enemy, and if she does, the dash's range and the potency of the power and speed buffs are increased.
* When she uses her ultimate, ''Air Strike'', she channels before flying forward, firing powerful shots below her. After the attack she briefly hovers in the air, allowing her to choose where she lands.\

Jing Wei's alternate skins include Reborn Jing Wei and Pool Party Jing Wei.
----
* AchillesHeel: Are you a god heavily-reliant on knocking an enemy into the air? Well, Jing Wei's just going to fly off whenever you try that on her. Also {{Subverted|}} - with all that flying around, you'd think that she'd be perfect prey for Awilix's ''Gravity Surge'', which catches enemies midair. However, Jing Wei's ''Agility'' negates ''Gravity Surge'' or grants her immunity to it, thus making her one of the only airborne deities that Awilix cannot pull down.
** CombinationAttack: On the other hand, with ''Persistent Gust'', Jing Wei can create a lot of knockups that a friendly Awilix can take advantage of.
* AmericanKirbyIsHardcore: Inverted. Just compare the promotional art between the [[http://www.smitegame.com/gods/jing-wei/ American]] and [[http://i.imgur.com/mIDCFqS.jpg Chinese]] versions of Smite.
* AutomaticCrossbows: She's the first god in the game to use one. Not only does she never reload, but she doesn't even carry a quiver.
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: Not as much as Cupid for the whole game, but Jing Wei occupies this spot for the Chinese Pantheon. She has the mindset of an up-and-coming and naive teenage girl, innocently skips around while walking, and has a rather childish mindset. Yes, she's set on {{Revenge}} against the Eastern Seas, an inanimate object, and in the same time refers to it as 'stupid'. When compared to the other 'child', [[WiseBeyondTheirYears Ne Zha]], Jing Wei comes up as naive and immature.
* DeathFromAbove: Her ultimate in a nutshell.
* {{Determinator}}: This is a girl whose goal is to ''render the seas shallow by filling it up with enough pebbles''. Of course she is. In fact, “Jing Wei filling in the sea” is a Chinese idiom for the spirit of never giving up.
* EnmityWithAnObject: After being reborn from drowning in the ocean, she swore vengeance on it and kept trying to fill it in with pebbles to make it shallow.
* GenkiGirl: As an example, she ''skips'' for her running animation.
* GirlishPigtails: This puts quite an emphasis on her youthful image.
* GuestFighter: The ''Franchise/{{Transformers}}'' collab features a skin for her of the traitorous Deception lieutenant, Starscream.
* JiveTurkey: Jing Wei notably has some late [=2010s=] slang with her voice pack, like "fam" or "lowkey".
* MagikarpPower: Jing Wei's ability to cause damage early-game is pretty poor - in fact, the first rank of Jing Wei's Explosive Bolts used to literally provide no bonus damage ''at all'' since it provides no critical strike chance at that rank, though now it adds 10% more physical power to the attacks at all ranks. Once she's got her items though, she'll have a respectable amount of buffs for her attacks and will be very difficult to lock down with a combination sizeable-dash-and-movement-speed-boost and an even-longer jump making her immune to crowd-control that can allow her to go over walls.
* PluckyGirl: She's not the type to let things bog her down.
* {{Revenge}}: Towards the whole Eastern Seas. According to [[http://www.smitegame.com/who-is-jing-wei/ this article detailing her story,]] she's pretty pissed that she got drowned for no reason and made an oath to fill up the whole sea with rocks just so no one had to suffer her tragic fate, even calling the sea ''a murderer''. Strangely, she has nothing to say to Ao Kuang, the ''King'' of the Eastern Seas.
* TransformingMecha: Her Starscream skin transforms from a mecha to jet plane when she uses ''Air Strike''.
* WingedHumanoid: In the original myth, Jing Wei turned into [[AdaptationalSpeciesChange a literal bird]] after her drowning. Here, she just gets wings.
