!Seisho Music Academy
[[quoteright:256:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seisho_4.jpg]]

A prestigious performing arts school with a proud history of 100 years that fosters and nurtures talented individuals in all forms of revue. Seisho Music Academy is divided into two departments: the Actor Training Department, in which students are trained to be great stage actresses, and the Stage Production Department, in which students learn how to work behind the scenes to support the students of the former.

The franchise focuses on 9 students from the 99th class of Seisho, all of whom are aiming to be the one and only Top Star.
-------
!!The 99th Class
!!!Class A Actor Training Department Students
[[folder:In General]]
* TheAce: As Seisho is one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Japan, they are all considered the creams of the crop in the world of theater by default as only a handful of 30 talented students are selected from entrance exams each year. Due to this, they're looked up to by the other schools who see them as rivals they need to surpass above all.
* AdaptationalBadass: They're capable of more impressive feats in the anime than in the stage plays. Justified thanks to the anime's medium allowing them to [[RuleOfAnimationConservation fight much more creatively than real people could]].
* AdaptationalJerkass: They're all comically ruder and more mean-spirited in the ''Shoujo Conte All Starlight'' chibi series as they not only bemoan and whine over having to go through the Auditions ''again'', they also go out of their way to either ignore Elle or disregard her completely while she's in their presence and make it clear to her that they're only going through with what she's doing because she won't stop crying until they compete.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: They're much less aggressively vicious and brutally competitive towards each other in the anime compared to their stage play counterparts and are depicted as being very close friends right from the beginning.
* AllTakeAndNoGive: Both types are present within class 99:
** Futaba and Kaoruko are the first variant with Futaba as the Giver and Kaoruko as the Taker.
* TheChosenMany: The first stage play and its print adaptation ''The Show Must Go On'' refers to them (sans Hikari, who had yet to transfer at that point) as the "Selected Group". [[note]]"senbatsu", the same term popularized by acts like Music/AKB48 used for members that are "selected" to represent the group[[/note]]
* CoatCape: They all wear red coats (except Hikari, whose coat is blue) with their stage combat outfits, though only on one shoulder.
* CosmicMotifs: They are heavily associated with the stars. Hikari's hairclip given to her by Karen is in the shape of two stars, the play they all memorably cherish is entitled ''Starlight'', and they all aim to shine brighter than the stars above by becoming the Top Star. Most of their songs are even themed towards stars.
* FireForgedFriends: Their duels in the Auditions against each other helped bring them closer together as friends. This is moreso in the first stage play, as unlike their anime counterparts, the girls weren't particularly friendly to each other prior to being pitted against one another in the Revues.
* FriendlyRivalry: In the anime and the stories that follow its continuity at least. The stage play, on the other hand, has them eventually develop into this after much trial and grief they go through in the Auditions. Before that, their rivalry was '' less'' than friendly.
** They also develop this with the other schools in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: In Chapter 7 of ''-Re LIVE's-'' Main Story, [[spoiler: the rest of the 99th were made to unwittingly completely forget Maya and everything associated with her after she seemingly disappears from existence, making Claudine and Nana the 99th's top and second best students respectively as well as Claire and Flora in their first performance of the ''Starlight'' play.]] Not only that, but another indicator that shows that something is clearly very wrong in Chapter 7 is the fact that [[spoiler: Karen and Hikari weren't the chosen leads of ''Starlight'' for the 100th Seisho Festival, even though the end of the anime made it explicitly clear that they got the roles of Claire and Flora after winning the Auditions.]]
* NumerologicalMotif: The number "9". There are 9 of them, they're part of the 99th class in Seisho, and there are 9 main characters in the ''Starlight'' play[[note]] though there were originally only 8 main characters[[/note]]. The main plot in the anime has all of them aiming to reach the top and become the Top Star by defeating each other in stage combat until [[ThereCanOnlyBeOne only one is left to take the crown]], tying in to the number "9" being at the apex of the single digits. Even the true purpose of the Auditions is also associated with the number 9 as the winner of the Auditions gets to have any of their wishes fulfilled by taking the defeated opponents' Shine from them and using that as fuel to ensure the winner's wish comes true even if reality has to be altered in the process.
* ShoutOut: Seisho is based on the real-life [[http://www.tms.ac.jp/english/index.html Takarazuka Music School]], even having very similar uniforms.
* TrueCompanions: They're close enough to be considered family at this point, having been together since their first year. The events of the story have them grow even closer than before, even including the newly transferred Hikari into their circle.
* WorthyOpponent: All the other schools technically see them as this, but this is especially true with the Edels from Siegfeld as the girls from the 99th Class of Seisho are the only students whose talents and skills they actually acknowledge as being on par with theirs. The other two schools, with the very small exception of some individuals like Shizuha and Fumi, on the other hand, are barely within their radar of interest as rivals. In the second stage play, the same holds true for the Seiran students.

[[folder:Karen Aijo]]
!! Karen Aijo
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/karen_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Momoyo Koyama (Japanese), Creator/BrittneyKarbowski (English)\
''"Atop a stage brimming with stardust, I am reborn,\
Clad in the flowers of love that have so magnificently bloomed.\
Student of the 99th Class, Karen Aijo!\
Together, we will all do Starlight!"''\

A girl who was amazed by the play ''Starlight'' she saw as a child, and found herself on the path to a career in theater as a result. She's always energetic and has a loud voice, but is extremely weak in the mornings and hates morning practice.
----
* AllLovingHero: Is friendly to everyone she meets right off the bat. [[spoiler: And despite understanding the danger of the Elle Note, is the first to refuse Elle's request to destroy it, pointing out how that would be tantamount to crushing the real Elle's dreams and creative spirit.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: After Hikari is PinnedToTheWall by Junna, Karen is quick to jump to the former's aid.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Quickly bonds with the likes of Aruru and Ichie for being just as easily excitable and hyperactive as they are. She also forms a fast friendship with the likes of Kasumi Toyama from ''VideoGame/BangDreamGirlsBandParty'' and Chika Takami from ''Anime/LoveLiveSunshine'' in ''-Re LIVE's-'' collaboration events with those two franchises in separate occassions.
* BookDumb: Academics is not Karen's forte. She also needs to be corrected by Mahiru every time she mispronounces or jumbles some words every now and then.
* BrilliantButLazy: Not to Kaoruko's extent, but it's heavily implied that her lack of dedication and general naiveté are keeping her from reaching her full potential as a stage girl. Once Hikari returns in her life, her determination to stand onstage together with Hikari reignites her passion to stand on top and she quickly improves after working even harder than before to do just that.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Downplayed. It's easy to miss because of the setting and because her more talented friends overshadow her, but you have to remember that since Seisho Music Academy is a prestigious performing arts school in Japan, only a select talented few can enter it, and Karen qualified. Though it can be attributed to hard work on her end, the fact that she was one of the top 30 entrance exam passers and was ''not'' the lowest of that 30 should say something about her despite her bad habits in class.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "''Non non''" when she is denying something.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Hikari, although they were separated for a long time when Hikari went to England.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: While she's not exactly the ideal role model herself, she's essentially Hikari's babysitter sometimes, though Mahiru ultimately does a better job at it than she does.
* CoolCrown: Aside of her hairclip, she wears a small one in her stage costume.
* CurbStompBattle: Her first battle with Junna. She ends on the receiving end in her fight with [[spoiler:Maya]].
* {{Determinator}}: Her tenacity despite the odds stacked against her is noted to be her greatest strength as a Stage Girl. She ''will'' stand together onstage with Hikari as the main leads of "Starlight" no matter what.
* EtTuBrute: Her reaction when [[spoiler:Hikari seemingly turns on her during the final day of the auditions]].
* GenkiGirl: Karen is filled with energy and determination.
* GirlishPigtails: Has her hair in the "two side up" variety, fitting for her energetic and idealistic nature.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Like Mahiru and Hikari, Karen has her own favorite cute stuffed animal she personally likes as seen in ''-Re LIVE-'': Kanihaniwa, a stuffed crab mascot.
* TheHeart: Her ultimate role in the 99th is this as she helps bring out the best in her classmates and encourages them to shine brilliantly on stage together in the most idealistic way possible. If she's down, everyone else can ''feel'' it in the atmosphere.
* HeroesPreferSwords: She's the main protagonist of the series with the most straightforwardly heroic personality of the Seisho girls, and she uses a cutlass.
* HeroicBSOD: Suffers this in episode 11 for ''months'' after [[spoiler: Hikari vanishes without a trace following the aftermath of the previous episode.]]
* HiddenDepths: She's surprisingly perceptive to small changes in her friends' movements and behaviors and has good enough deductive skills that gives her the potential to be a mystery-solving sleuth. This appropriately helps her out a lot in the "Detective Karen on the Case" event where she has to solve a mystery involving her missing umeboshi and she has to find the culprit who took it. Fitting, since she's set to play the [[Literature/SherlockHolmes Great Detective himself]] during Seisho's exchange program with Siegfeld.
* IdiotHero: Her heart may be in the right place but she's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed.
* IdiotsCannotCatchColds: Subverted. She actually gets sick from a cold in the 4koma series though she's quick to recover from it at the end of the day.
* ImportantHairAccessory: She wears a crown shaped hairclip that is melted in lava during her transformation. The hairclip is important to her since it was given to her by Hikari on the day they first saw ''Starlight'' being performed.
* InsultOfEndearment: Hikari dubbed her "Bakaren" (a portmanteau of "baka" and "Karen") after she interferes with the former's audition with Junna. After Episode 2, Junna seems to have adopted the term with this trope in mind. The subtitles instead render it as "Dorkaren" (a portmanteau of "dork" and "Karen").
* LateForSchool: How she's introduced in the present day in the stage play version of the story, which got her and her class in deep trouble in the first part. While she isn't introduced in the same way in the anime (where she and Mahiru are the first ones to make it to the dance studio despite having to go back to get her hairclip), it's alluded to several times as one of her bad habits in class.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: She's essentially this to Mahiru, who [[HeroicSelfDeprecation doesn't see herself as anything special]] and is only able to feel good about herself by looking after Karen.
* NiceGirl: Very. She loves and cares for her friends, and being the idealist that she is, would love the idea of being able to stand on stage with everyone together despite the competitive nature surrounding her career. The prequel manga even has her helping an old lady out on her way to her entrance exams at Seisho.
* TheNicknamer: She's the one who came up with the "Banana" nickname for Nana, and she also calls Junna "Jun-Jun".
* NotAMorningPerson: Despite all her energy, she's ''very'' difficult to wake up in the mornings and hates morning practice.
* ObliviousToLove: She doesn't notice Mahiru's crush on her.
* OnlySaneWoman: Ironically, she, of all people, starts serving this role in ''Shoujo Conte All Starlight'' once the other schools show up in the mini series, being bewildered over the other students' antics.
* PleaseDontLeaveMe: When Kaoruko suddenly announces to her friends and classmates that she's dropping out of Seisho to go back to Kyoto (in actuality, she was bluffing to goad Futaba and see if she'd care if she really did leave after Kaoruko throws a petty tantrum in response to Futaba getting a lead role but not her), Karen starts crying and begs her not to, and on the day Kaoruko was set to leave, Karen is seen grabbing Kaoruko's legs and holding them tight to prevent her from leaving while still begging and crying for her to reconsider.
* ProneToTears: She's someone who's easily taken in by her feelings in the anime, so she gets emotional really quickly whenever something big happens. She immediately bawls when Kaoruko first announces that she plans on leaving Seisho to go home to Kyoto even before graduation during episode 6 (though she was merely bluffing) and continues to sob and cling on her to prevent Kaoruko from leaving the following day. She does this to [[spoiler: Maya]] as well in ''-Re LIVE-'', both out of relief and joy that [[spoiler: her friend has returned to them all]] and out of remorse [[spoiler: for completely forgetting about her after her disappearance]] even though there was mostly nothing Karen could've done about the latter due to the circumstances involved.
* RedIsHeroic: Her stage uniform has more red than the other girls', and she's the nicest girl in the 99th class.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Hikari's Blue. She is an energetic GenkiGirl, Hikari is a stoic AloofDarkHairedGirl.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: One of two with the other being Hikari. Her participation in the auditions is one of the primary factors that set in motion the events that would throw off Nana's never-ending time loop and put it to a halt.]]
* StockShoujoHeroine: She's [[GenkiGirl energetic]], somewhat [[IdiotHero dumb and naive]], but also [[NiceGirl very, very friendly and nice to everyone]], and she's TheHeart of Seisho's 99th class. Additionally, she's also [[ObliviousToLove somewhat oblivious to Mahiru's affection towards her]].
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Umeboshi, according to her profile.
* WhyDidntIThinkOfThat: After Karen runs all over the school looking for Hikari, and disturbs the rest of her classmates in the process, Nana casually suggests calling Hikari by phone. Karen's immediate reaction reeks of this trope.
* WideEyedIdealist: She was already in the road to a highly competitive career before she ended having to fight her classmates in the literal sense of the word. She still believes in being friends and working together with everyone, even when all the other girls believe only one person can be the Top Star.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Says this trope almost word per word to Mahiru during and after she defeats her in their revue duel together.

[[folder:Hikari Kagura]]
!! Hikari Kagura
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hikari_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Creator/SuzukoMimori (Japanese), Creator/PatriciaDuran (English)\
''"The vow from that day slipped from a hand \
Held confidently aloft, falling into the abyss.\
Though it may end in tragedy,\
I will once again ascend the stage of fate.\
Student of the 99th Class, Hikari Kagura! \
All this...is for the sake of Starlight!"''\

Karen's childhood friend who had been studying abroad at a school for the performing arts in England. Her returning to Japan and reuniting with Karen is what starts the plot of the anime.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: In the stage plays, she only ever uses her dagger as her weapon in the Revues. In the anime, she also has a rope attached to it which she uses to her advantage as well.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While Hikari's motivations and aloof personality stay mostly the same in the anime, Hikari treats Karen much less coldly compared to her stage play counterpart when they reunite for the first time in years and makes it more obvious that she does care for her childhood friend right from the start. She also doesn't taunt Junna during her audition against her unlike in the stage play version where she was being almost sadistic about doing it.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Besides being much colder, at least initially, Hikari in the stage play isn't as eccentric or even that stoic compared to anime Hikari, who comes across as a monotone oddball in her more comedic moments.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: Comes across as this when she meets Karen for the first time since they were children, though it is hinted that her aloof nature is an act, [[spoiler:which turns out to be half true. She really lost some of her emotions and her passion for the stage when she lost the auditions before, but she still has plenty left. She is playing up her aloofness to keep Karen away from those dangerous auditions.]]
* AngerBornOfWorry: She gets increasingly angrier as Karen keeps participating in the auditions. She ends slapping Karen and running again after Karen [[spoiler:is defeated by Maya]].
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Borrows Claudine's usual declaration of wanting to defeat Maya in ''4koma Starlight'', which causes Claudine to hilariously freak out over it. Though in Hikari's case, she simply wants to beat Maya when it comes to burning weight after eating a lot.
--> '''Hikari:''' I will defeat Maya Tendo.
--> '''Claudine:''' EH!? BUT THAT'S ''MY'' LINE!?
* BrokenBird: The cold and aloof Hikari in the present day is a far cry from the cheerful and passionate little girl from Karen's childhood flashbacks. [[spoiler: Losing the Auditions in England and having her Brilliance taken away as a consequence played a huge hand in her shift in attitude in the present day.]] She eventually recovers, but still retains her stoic personality.
* BroughtDownToBadass: [[spoiler: In her flashback from her former days in the Royal Academy of Theatrical Actors in England, she used to wield a sword for the Auditions and was even in the running to be the Top Star. After losing the Auditions there to her former school's ace, and with her passion for the stage taken away, her weapon got reduced in length to a dagger as did her skills. However, she can still hold her own well against her new classmates in Seisho in the Revues anyway despite this.]]
* BunnyEarsLawyer: She's a brilliant Stage Girl, but can be somewhat flighty and surprisingly airheaded when she's not onstage performing. Junna even exasperatingly admits during the Valentine's event in ''-Re LIVE-'' that she's baffled a talented actress such as Hikari would lack so much common sense offstage.
* CannotSpitItOut: She's too embarrassed to call Junna by first name despite having grown closer as friends. She tries doing so twice in her greetings for Junna's birthday but stutters both times and goes back to calling her just "Hoshimi-san".
* ChildhoodFriends: With Karen, although her moving to England means they were separated for years.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Don't let the aloofness fool you. Underneath that stoic facade she puts up, she's just as kooky and ditzy as Karen is: she's just better at hiding it.
* TheComicallySerious: Hikari may look like she's a no-nonsense stoic, but she's really more of this. Whenever Mr. White gets involved somehow, expect her to go off on weird tangents where she passionately sings of Mr. White's praises with the same deadpan expression she puts on by default. Just ask poor Maya, who was confused the entire time in her Susanowo card's Bond Story after asking Hikari for some advice on acting.
* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: Hikari is not the least bit pleased that Karen jumped in to duel Junna after the latter [[PinnedToTheWall pins her to a stage fixture]] with an arrow, as Karen interfered with an audition for the Starlight revue. [[spoiler:Hell, even the FinalBoss battle is Hikari fighting Karen off from being rescued in a prison of her own design]]
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: [[spoiler:She is the first to defeat Nana, who had gone undefeated in the auditions several times thanks to her GroundhogDayLoop.]]
* DefrostingIceQueen: After reconciling with Karen in episode 4, she slowly but surely begins to open up to her other classmates in Seisho besides her starting with Mahiru, though she really took her time to do so. Come Christmas, she even tries to be everyone's Santa Claus after learning that Seisho traditionally doesn't celebrate the occasion unlike her previous school as a kind sentiment to her classmates. In one event in ''-Re LIVE-'', [[spoiler: she grows close enough to Junna that the latter even insisted that she refer to her by first name, though Hikari declines out of embarrassment (she tries at least for her birthday greeting for Junna).]] She does promise that she will one day though, just not now.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: She's the second most important character in the story right after Karen.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Karen points out that Hikari locking her in the shed to prevent her from losing would've made her lose anyways for not showing up. Hikari is baffled she didn't realize that.
* DramaticIrony: [[spoiler: Hikari pulls off a self-sacrificial scheme by winning the Auditions on the final day at the end of episode 10 to prevent Karen from having her Brilliance stolen from her and to protect her from experiencing the crippling depression that follows afterward, disappearing in the process. Unbeknownst to Hikari, her disappearance does ''exactly'' that to Karen.]]
* EndearinglyDorky: During the times when she's more relaxed, she's this. The [=OVAs=] and ''-Re LIVE-'' mobile game highlight this trait of hers more especially since the auditions in the anime were finally done and she could afford to relax around others besides Karen more.
* EverybodyHatesMathematics: She admits that math isn't her strongest subject and would rather do without it.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: She is shown to sleep with a stuffed bear named Mr. White, her favorite stuffed animal mascot, and bought a stuffed jellyfish during her escapade from school.
* HarmlessFreezing: [[spoiler: Gets frozen solid during the "Tragic Orion" event in ''-Re LIVE-'' when Akira launches her arrow at her unwittingly courtesy of Elle and Andrew's scheme to spice things up a little for the Rigel play featuring Karen, Hikari, and Akira.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Her very presence pretty much sealed the deal that Karen would join the auditions and her attempts to prevent Karen from participating in the auditions only serve to make the latter all the more determined to get to the bottom of them.
* ImportantHairAccessory: Her sparkle shaped hairclips, which were a gift from Karen on the day they first saw ''Starlight'' being performed.
* InformedAbility: Since she's lived in England for most of her life before transferring to Seisho, she's expected to speak fluent English and her friends say so as well, but has yet to speak the language onscreen.
* NewTransferStudent: Her arrival in Seisho kicks off the plot in both the anime and the stage play.
* NonUniformUniform: Wears a long-sleeved purple leotard instead of the regular white and black one worn by the other students outside of Maya and Claudine. Justified due to her being a new transfer student from the Royal Institute of Dramatic Arts from England, a school that's said to be ''more'' prestigious than Seisho, which all but states that she's more experienced in ballet compared to most of the class.
* NotSoAboveItAll: In spite of her AloofDarkHairedGirl act, a FreezeFrameBonus in episode 3 reveals she sleeps with a stuffed animal. Then there is the fascination with jellyfishes she is shown to have in the following episode. At one point she is watching them in an aquarium with a group of children.
** ''-Re LIVE-'' and one of the [=OVAs=] also reveal her love for a mascot character called Mr. White.
* NotSoStoic: Despite acting aloof and unsociable, she frequently breaks her mask and expresses genuine emotion around Karen. Episode 8 expands on this aspect of her character, [[spoiler:explaining that losing the auditions in England took away her drive to achieve her old dream. The Giraffe notes that it's unusual she even has that much emotion left, implying that the losers are expected to become fully melancholic and stoic.]]
* {{Ojou}}: Heavily implied. In the first stage play, Karen mentions that Hikari's father was a big shot at a certain large company and this lines up with how she's financially well-off enough to study in two prestigious performing arts schools, one of which was overseas.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Her biggest flaw. Her refusal to talk to Karen leads the latter to follow her to the underground stage, and Hikari would rather ''tie Karen up and lock her in a shed'' over explaining herself.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Karen's Red. The irony is that once you get past her stoicism, you will see that Hikari has way worse temper than the [[GenkiGirl energetic]] and [[WideEyedIdealist idealist]] Karen.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: Her appearance and transfer to Seisho serve as the main catalysts to the events that would put an eventual stop to Nana's wish of a never-ending time loop to her time with the 99th Class.]]
* SugarAndIcePersonality: While she's rather stoic, [[BunnyEarsLawyer if a little odd]], she makes it clear from the very beginning that she cares for Karen a great deal and even slowly begins to open up to her newfound friends in Seisho.
* TookALevelInCynic: There is a huge contrast between the cheerful Hikari from Karen's flashbacks and the present day AloofDarkHairedGirl. This is because [[spoiler:her "shine" was taken from her when she lost the auditions in England, leaving her mostly apathetic even towards her childhood dream]]. However, meeting Karen again has clearly [[TookALevelInIdealism re-sparked her old dream]] of standing on stage with her friend, instead of standing alone after beating all other competitors like she (and everyone else) thought was the only way.
* TrashOfTheTitans: She almost never cleans up after herself in her room, much to poor Mahiru's distress.
* UnknownRival: Mahiru resents her for being ChildhoodFriends with Karen, and becoming the focus of Karen's attention since her return. Hikari is oblivious to these feelings. How oblivious is she? In the first stage play, she genuinely mistook Mahiru's jealousy of her as ''acting'' on her part even though Mahiru herself was ''already telling her directly that it wasn't.''
* WhipSword: Hikari wields a downplayed example, a dagger tied to a rope, though she can also use the dagger on its own, its similar to a ''kusari-gama''. [[spoiler:The reason she only has a dagger compared to everone else's longer weapon is that almost all off her "shine" was lost in England. That she even has this much shine left is surprising to the Giraffe.]]

''"The star of love which shines on the moon...\
Now, gather that outpouring of light and send it to your heart!\
Head of the 99th Class, Maya Tendo!\
Tonight, I will show you the sparkle!"''\

A thoroughbred girl who is the offspring of a famous stage actor and a prima donna. Despite her beautiful physique, strong voice, and natural-born talent, she never sits on her laurels. She is a lone wolf who always aims to go higher.
----
* TheAce: She is the number one of her class, excelling in all areas of revue. She is the daughter of two stage actors and is described as being naturally talented at acting. [[spoiler:However, it's later revealed that Nana has beaten her in every itiration of the GroundhogDayLoop so far, which would make Nana the true ace of the class.]]
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Maya was more of an arrogant jerk in the stage play unlike her friendlier and gentler, though still aloof, anime counterpart.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Maya was [[LargeHam hammy]], ''[[{{Jerkass}} very]]'' arrogant, and smugly treated her classmates as beneath her, a fact that she constantly rubbed in to them in the stage play unlike her characterization in the anime where her disposition is more stoic, composed (when not performing that is), and treats her classmates with sincere respect and kindness regardless of her position as the top of their class.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: To Claudine. Defeating her and taking her place as #1 forms the crux of Claudine's motivations as a Stage Girl.
* AnimalMotifs: Birds, especially swans. Besides the obvious reference to the ''Theatre/SwanLake'', it symbolizes her status as TheAce who is LonelyAtTheTop, as swan are seen as beautiful and majestic animals, and since they can fly they stay above land animals.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: She once confronted Nana and told her she won't forgive her if she doesn't give it her all during performances. [[spoiler: Once the Auditions began, Nana ends up taking this advice to heart alright...[[IAmNotLeftHanded and proceeds to apply it by thoroughly defeating all her classmates, Maya included, in the Revues]] so she can win and have her wish of repeating their first performance of ''Starlight'' from their first year be fulfilled. Their class winds up being put in a time loop because of this.]]
* BerserkButton: Downplayed, but as someone who has reached the top by giving her best and defeating other girls who were also giving their best, she dislikes people who do not give all they have to achieve their dreams.
* BigEater: She hides it well, but the girl has a big appetite. Best shown in ''4-koma Starlight''.
* BorrowedCatchphrase: Borrows "[name], the Starlet of the Stage, is getting better day by day!" from Karen in Platinum Pride Part 3.
* BullyMagnet: She casually tells Hikari and Junna during the second Starlight Special that there were plenty of times in the past where she experienced being harassed and antagonized by her fellow competitors after she won the lead role from them in auditions.
* TheComicallySerious: She talks about how great potatoes are with the same expression she has while training.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The way she enters the first episode by going straight to Position Zero not only handily establishes her as the top student in the class, but the way her announcing her name and number stops all of the multiple conversations happening in that scene shows how she's respected by her classmates... [[{{LonelyAtTheTop}} as well as isolated from them.]]
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: [[spoiler: Maya actually met Elle in the real world once, but didn't connect her with the little girl she discussed plays with until she sees the event from Elle's perspective in ''Playwriter Stage Girl''.]]
* FriendToAllChildren: Despite being seemingly aloof and even distant towards her peers, she's much openly warmer and gentler towards children as seen in the ''Overture'' manga. [[spoiler: Also seen in ''Playwriter Stage Girl'' when it recounts the day she ran into a young Elle in the real world.]]
* TheGadfly: Her interactions with Claudine sometimes shows shades of this in her, even borderline teasing the girl at times.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler: She accepts her loss against Karen and Hikari together in their dual revue in the 10th episode rather well and even respects them for it.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: Finishes her fights by saying "This is Tendo Maya" in English. Amusingly, she doesn't bother changing the eastern order of her name despite speaking in English.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: While she's aloof and can be somewhat harsh to her classmates especially when they're her opponents on stage in the Revues, she's nonetheless compassionate and even shows clear respect to them when they work hard to better themselves regardless of the skill gap between her and them.
* LadyOfWar: Not the only one, but the biggest one in the show so far.
* LastNameBasis: Refers to everyone by surname with the "-san" honorific at the end, though she'll occasionally call certain people by full name without the honorific anymore. Usually, it's Claudine she addresses this way.
* LonelyAtTheTop: Her status keeps her distant of her other classmates. She sees this trope as an inevitable part of being a Top Star.
* {{Ojou}}: Heavily implied based on her parents' respective careers in the theater industry.
* NonUniformUniform: In their ballet lessons, all the other girls wear the same sleeveless white and black leotards except for Maya (who wears a blue one with elbow-length sleeves) and Claudine. Justified because she and Claudine are the most experienced ballet dancers, and in many real-life ballet schools, the more experienced students are allowed greater freedom in their choice of outfits compared to the younger girls.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Despite usually emanating a dignified aura, she joins the rest of the group in their silly ruse to cover for Karen and Hikari when they miss the school curfew. The prequel manga also reveals that she is terrified of ghosts, which Claudine completely misses no matter how much she sees Maya freaking out in front of her (she assumes she's just that good of an actor).
* NotSoStoic: Hilariously vents out her frustrations of [[spoiler: losing the lead role of Claire to Hikari]] in the hammiest way possible in the 2nd Starlight Special, to both Hikari and Junna's complete surprise.
* OhCrap: Her reaction when it hits her [[spoiler: that Nana plans to reset the time after defeating her]].
* RetGone: [[spoiler: '' -Re LIVE's-'' 7th chapter in the Main Story has Maya seemingly completely disappear from existence and in everyone's memories.]]
* RoyalRapier: Her preferred weapon is a rapier. While she's not exactly "royal", her parents are both famous actors and she's viewed as TheAce of her class.
* ShipTease: Her and Claudine have a lot of tension like this between each other. Every time Maya dances with Claudine she spends the whole time smiling at her, regardless if anyone is around to see them. She also spends a good part of her fight with Karen praising Claudine's passion and drive (we know Maya is talking about Claudine due to the camera cutting to her while Maya is making her speech). She also blushes in the flashback to the previous production of the ''Starlight'' play when Claudine leans in to whisper in her ear.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She puts up an air of aloofness around her friends and classmates during rehearsals and performances, but shows her sweeter side more when she's out relaxing with them on her downtime.
* TalentedButTrained: In spite of her talents and her status as Seisho's most talented student, she never rests on her laurels and continues to train hard each day to improve her skills.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: She loves baumkuchen so much that she can finish off entire ''plates'' of the thing when given to her. A special mini game in ''-Re LIVE-'' was even dedicated to her love for the thing!
* TrueBlueFemininity: She wears a royal blue leotard while the girls are practicing ballet.
* TerribleArtist: According to the 4-koma manga and an in character interview, the one subject she is bad at is art. Claudine claims her drawings look like something one would see in a fever dream. ''-Re LIVE-'' also reveals that she skips art classes because of this under the guise of being sick as an excuse.
* WeightWoe: One of the few things that can set off the usually unflappable Maya is implicitly telling or asking her if she's gained weight. When Claudine correctly guesses that she was on a diet in a Theater Story, she becomes uncharacteristically flustered from embarrassment and surprise at how Claudine somehow knew.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: The prequel reveals that she's afraid of ghosts and all things horror-related.
* WorthyOpponent: To Claudine. Also to Akira Yukishiro in ''-Re LIVE-'', her equally talented counterpart from Siegfeld Institute of Music. On Maya's end however, she considers everyone who practices hard to try to surpass her as this and makes no real exception on anyone as a result.

!! Junna Hoshimi
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/junna_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Creator/HinataSato (Japanese), Creator/ShannonEmerick (English)\
''"Everyone has their own star of destiny.\
Stars that shine, the morning star, stars that fall...\
Though I may not yet see my own star, I gaze upward,\
And on this day...I, Junna Hoshimi, student of the 99th Class,\
Will take hold of a star of my own!"''\

An honor student and the class rep that has the best test scores in her grade. Though she has good judgment and the ability to analyze a situation, she has a tendency to overthink things. She chose to pursue theater despite her parents' objections. Her biggest worry is the gap in skill between herself and natural genius like Maya and Claudine.
----
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: She was much more eccentric in the stage play unlike her more straight-laced anime self.
* AffectionateNickname: Karen starts calling her "Jun-Jun" after they've resolved their differences in their second Revue duel together in the anime. Likewise, Yuyuko also calls her "Jun-Jun-san" in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: Junna starts out as someone who wished to break away from the path her parents wanted from her and would train herself to near exhaustion to become a star, willing to burn herself out in highschool to achieve her dreams but always coming short and resented those who were more talented than her. Karen defeating her led to Junna breaking out of that unhealthy mindset, [[spoiler: but the sequel movie shows Junna going to the other side of the pendulum, becoming too passive in achieving her dreams, to the point where she was plainning to attend a regular college just like her parents wanted her to and would put the stage on the backburner until she acquired some form of stability in contrast to her past aggressive and risk taking self. The Revue of Hunting has Nana challenge Junna on this change, and Junna eventually reaches a middle ground between her original anime self and current movie, and works to get into New York's theater world but keeps the lesson she learned to balance achieving her dreams with taking care of herself]].
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: Forced to be the tsukkomi role between both Hikari and Maya being the boke as a result of both of them hamming it up in the 2nd Starlight Special OVA.
* ClassRepresentative: She's the class rep for the 99th class, and she fits many aspects of the trope, being an intelligent girl who's usually concerned about the rules.
* ColdSniper: Her battle tactic is to shoot her opponent from every possible angle.
* CombatPragmatist: Uses the props in the stage to get good positions to shoot or to hide herself.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: The most everyone could say about the Bobotie dish Junna makes for her classmates in her chapter in ''Overture'' is half-hearted remarks that say that its flavor is "unique", which doesn't exactly make Junna any happy even by a tiny bit. Claudine's attempt at being polite about it sells it best though:
-> '''Claudine:''' Th-This is quite an adult flavor! Children wouldn't understand this at all.
* DeadpanSnarker: Right up there with Futaba.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: After Karen defeats her fair and square in their rematch together in the anime, they end up becoming closer friends with each other.
* DissonantLaughter: In the stage plays, this is one of her character tics. She giggles under her breath when she's overly excited, shocked, or nervous, and it gives her classmates the creeps.
* DontYouDarePityMe: [[BerserkButton A big sore spot for her]]. She takes being pitied as a sign that people look down on her abilities as a Stage Girl.
* FantasyForbiddingFather: Implied. Her parents wanted her to be a doctor but she chose to be a Stage Girl instead.
* {{Hammerspace}}: She never [[BottomlessMagazines runs out of arrows]] and doesn't use a quiver or anything to keep them.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Trains herself to near-exhaustion, but finds that she still can't hold a candle to characters like Maya and Claudine, who possess natural talent for revue.
* HurricaneOfAphorisms: At the end of episode 9 in an attempt to cheer up Nana, who shows a surprising interest in all those quotes Junna knows. Subverted at the end when she decides to use her own words instead.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: The crux of her determination to become the Top Star. She does not want to be just another face in the crowd, but a star that has its own shine.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Taken to absurd levels during her fight with Kaoruko: When both of them enter a BladeLock, she fires an arrow upwards, which ricochets off the structural beams of the arena several times before hitting the latter's cloak.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite being a temperamental stickler for rules, it's clear that Junna cares for the well-being of her classmates as their class representative. She softens up considerably further after Karen defeats her a second time in their second revue duel together in Episode 2.
* OddFriendship: With the stoic yet airheaded Hikari. Lampshaded by both Nana and Futaba, who both remark that they're a pair you don't usually see together during the Valentine's Day event in ''-Re LIVE-''
* OnlySaneWoman:
** Plays this role in the second Starlight Special between Maya and Hikari. She's also this in general among the 99th whenever they all goof off.
** The poor girl also inevitably becomes this ''again'' when she's grouped together with [[RagtagBunchOfMisfits Yuyuko, Mei Fan, and Lalafin]] for their song "Driving the Auriga" from the ''La Revue Éternelle'' album.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: The only student with glasses and she is the class representative with top scores. She is also seen researching the Giraffe in episode 3.
** In ''-Re LIVE-'', she's even revealed to have several glasses for different occasions.
* OrderedToDie: In the opening phase of the Revue of Hunting, Nana stands over Juuna and orders her to commit harakiri as Juuna's brilliance has long faded thus only an honorable death awaits her. This gesture would be repeated toward the end of the Revue after Nana shatters the gem of Juuna's bow, telling Juuna to eliminate herself from the revue as Nana walked away.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's spooked by anything horror-related, as revealed in the prequel manga.

[[folder:Mahiru Tsuyuzaki]]
!! Mahiru Tsuyuzaki
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mahiru_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Haruki Iwata (Japanese), Creator/MaggieFlecknoe (English)\
''"I adore the shining stage,\
but...I love it even more when you shine.\
In a duet that goes round and round,\
I hope we can dance together, forever.\
Student of the 99th Class, Mahiru Tsuyuzaki!\
I was the one...who was always by your side."''\

A girl that is usually calm and shy but dances and sings with vigor on the stage. She has always admired the positivity and energy of her roommate, Karen. This admiration leads to complicated feelings when Karen's childhood friend returns.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: She was initially much more reluctant to engage in stage combat against her classmates in the stage plays, an attitude that served her badly in both ''The Show Must Go On'' and in ''#2 Transition''. She doesn't have this problem in the anime, as even when she faces off against Karen in her focus episode, she doesn't at all hesitate to attack her regardless of her feelings for her.
* BigDamnHeroes: Saves Shiori in the nick of time from a bad fall while she was riding an unruly horse during Shiori's Chariot Arcana Intermission story.
* BigSisterInstinct: For Shiori during the "Detective Karen on the Case" event in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* CanNotSpitItOut: She is unable to talk about her massive crush on Karen or her dislike of Hikari.
* CarryABigStick: Wields a mace.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Before Hikari arrived, she served as this to Karen. Though even after Karen grows to be self-reliant and hardworking once Hikari transferred in, Mahiru is still arguably this towards her ''and Hikari'' whenever she has her irresponsible moments.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Hates when Karen gets closer to the other girls. Amusingly enough, in one scene of episode 2 she is ''literally'' clinging to Karen.
* ColorMotif: Green. She's represented with the color green, and her Revue outfit is green. She is incredibly jealous of Hikari due to how close she is to Karen, and envy is commonly associated with green.
* CoolBigSis:
** Her siblings back in Hokkaido definitely see her this way and it shows whenever her family is shown. At one point in ''-Re LIVE-'', one of her younger sisters writes to her and tells her that she plans on enrolling to Seisho someday and Mahiru's first reaction to this was to fret over being seen as a good role model for her sister to follow.
** She extends this trait to Shiori in the "Detective Karen on the Case" event in ''-Re LIVE-'' after noticing how nervous the younger girl was during Siegfeld and Seisho's exchange program and willingly takes her in as her partner after Shiori becomes attached to her.
** She also invokes this trope for her role as Shrine Priestess Hifumi, the mature, responsible older sister of Ichie's character, Shrine Priestess Hitsuki.
* CountryMouse: She comes from a farming family in Hokkaido, and in her self-introduction in ''-Re LIVE-'' she mentions that she had trouble adjusting to city life at first.
* CovertPervert: Episode 5 all but openly states her feelings for Karen aren't entirely pure. In order, she: Stuffs her face in Karen's pillow, stares at her used towel as if it was a treasure, and attempts to get an IndirectKiss with her water bottle.
* CowardlyLion: While normally shy, she becomes more vibrant and even bold when onstage and in the Auditions.
* DyeingForYourArt: Invoked and PlayedWith. Mahiru wants to slim down so she can better portray the LeanAndMean Professor Moriarty in "Holmes versus Lupin". It turns out that her concerns about not fitting into her Moriarty costume were caused by the bathroom scale malfunctioning, but Mahiru did lose some weight while under the mistaken impression that she had gotten heavier.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: According to Kaoruko, everybody has noticed her feelings for Karen. Except [[ObliviousToLove Karen herself]] of course.
* GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals: Is a huge fan of Suzudaru Cat and collects merchandise of the character whenever she can snag one.
* GirlishPigtails: She has a pair of very small pigtails. In the anime, they'll sometimes [[ExpressiveHair move according to her mood]].
* GreenEyedMonster: She really doesn't like Hikari for being the center of Karen's attention.
* TheHeart: Her classmates have all agreed that her calming presence can put people around her at ease. This is highlighted more whenever she's chosen as the lead role for productions like in the "Synchro Girls 1950" event.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Seisho Music Academy is such a prestigious school Mahiru appeared on TV just for being able to go there. And despite keeping up with her classmates there for a whole year, she still believes she doesn't compare to any of them. In her mind being Karen's sidekick/caretaker of sorts is the only thing she has because it allows her to be part of someone else's radiance. Ultimately it falls to Karen herself to remind Mahiru of how much she can do on her own, allowing her to finally find some "shine" in her reflection.
* MassiveNumberedSiblings: She's the oldest of six siblings.
* MeanCharacterNiceActor: The usually sweet and mild Mahiru has taken on nasty roles such as [[DrugsAreBad Don Salvatori's "business associate"]] in "Mafia Famiglia" and [[Literature/SherlockHolmes Professor Moriarty]] in "Holmes versus Lupin".
* ShrinkingViolet: Unless she's on stage performing, she is incredibly shy.
* StealthInsult: If you have Musketeer Mahiru with you in ''-Re LIVE-'' where she takes on the role of Porthos from ''Literature/TheThreeMusketeers'' for a play, she'll mention that she'll need to take cues from Kaoruko in order to better get into character. She'll ''then'' say in one of her card's exclusive lines that Porthos is the primary [[ButtMonkey comic relief character]] in the original story, not so subtly implying that Kaoruko is this among her friends when combined with the above line and follows this up ''again'' in her card's second bond story by directly describing all of Porthos's negative character traits to Karen and telling her how these traits reminded her of Kaoruko...all while Kaoruko is within hearing distance in the room they were both in. Naturally, Kaoruko is less than amused by the comparison.
--> '''Mahiru:''' (Porthos is) flamboyant, arrogant, and makes vicious remarks. He reminded me of Kaoruko-chan...
* TeamMom: Acts like a fussy mom at times to both Karen and Hikari. Hikari even calls her "Mamahiru" for this.
* UnknownRival: Hikari is completely oblivious to her jealousy of her, though Mahiru at least gets to vent it out against her in the stage play...only for Hikari to chalk up her jealousy towards her as really good acting on Mahiru's part.
* {{Yandere}}: PlayedForLaughs. When she finally gets to vent her frustrations in a revue with Karen, she does it by using her mace as a baseball bat and Karen as the ball, all while smiling sweetly. It's all portrayed as pure slapstick.

[[folder:Nana Daiba]]
!! Nana Daiba
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nana_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Creator/MoekaKoizumi (Japanese), Creator/LuciChristian (English)\
''"The fruit has become ripened and heavy upon the stage...\
But it remains tender, and someone must protect it all!\
Student of the 99th Class, Nana Daiba!\
I will protect them!\
Forever...Again and again!"''\

The mother figure of the 99th graduating class who has an aura of gentleness surrounding her. Her nickname is Banana. She's not just skilled at dance and song, but also production as well.
----
* TheAce: She's talented at dancing and singing, as well as theatre production and being a SupremeChef to boot. She is arguably the [[spoiler:true ace of her class, as she has beaten Maya repeatedly over several iterations of the same sequence of events in the GroundhogDayLoops she has set up]].
* AdaptationalBadass: Downplayed. She remains a very formidable opponent in the revues in both the stage play and the anime, but since she doesn't get to show off much in the stage play version of the events, it's never made clear if she's capable of going toe to toe with the best students of her class since she only got to fight Mahiru and Karen there (and she never even got to finish her duels with either of them due to circumstances). In the anime, not only is she officially the third best in her class just below Maya and Claudine, it also shows just how talented she can be when she isn't holding herself back. [[spoiler: In every iteration of the multiple timeloops Nana's been in, Maya has NEVER once emerged victorious over her in the Auditions. And since being Top Star involved defeating the other girls to be number 1, it's heavily implied that Nana had also never been beaten by the rest of her classmates all the same. Even when she eventually lost her duels against Hikari and later Karen in the newest timeline, the first half of both fights consisted of her [[CurbStompBattle steamrolling them]] before they gained the right momentum and resolve to finally defeat her.]]
* AdaptationalHeroism: The anime gives her more [[WellIntentionedExtremist sympathetic reasons]] for wanting to defeat her classmates and become Top Star in the Auditions. While she's far from evil in the stage play and the manga adaptation based on it, she was also an ''incredibly'' ruthless antagonist, and her motivation for agreeing to engage in stage combat against her friends can be summed up as "she had to", as her wish, which is possibly similar to her anime counterpart's, is only implied through her dialogue.
* AdaptationalVillainy: ''On the other hand'', her stage play counterpart never did [[spoiler:trap her classmates in a time loop]] either.
* AdaptationExpansion: Her desire to keep everyone together and fears of letting everyone go are expanded more in the anime. Because of this, she has a bigger role to play in the greater scheme of things in the anime's plot, [[spoiler: with the reveal about her during [[WhamEpisode episode 7]] changing everything in the story]]. Meanwhile, while not ''quite'' irrelevant, Nana's role in the stage play isn't as big or as important by comparison.
* AffectionateNickname:
** Frequently called "Banana" by her classmates, due to having a prominent banana motif; she often makes banana-flavored sweets for her friends, her pigtails are shaped like bunches of bananas, and her smartphone case is yellow and brown (a color combination often associated with bananas). It also comes from her full name (in eastern order) "Daiba Nana". If you split the family name you get "Dai Ba Nana", or "big banana". Episode 7 reveals it's Karen who came up with this nickname, positing out that Nana is like a banana in that she's sweet, tender, and "nourishes" the people around her.
** Karen has also called her "Bananice" (a portmanteau of "nice" and "banana") after receiving help from her in episode 4, which she seems to have warmed up to very quickly.
* AnimalMotifs: Although attention is never specifically drawn to it the way it with her banana motif, Nana is associated with an animal: frogs. She owns many things with frog patterns, owns frogs plushies, and keeps her treasured photo of their class' first year performance of ''Starlight'' in a frog-shaped frame. [[spoiler: Notably, a well-known pun in Japanese is that "frog" and "return" both sound the same when said outloud—''kaeru.'' This becomes very significant in light of TheReveal of Episode 7.]]
* AnimeHair: Her pigtails are shaped like bunches of bananas. Lampshaded in the 4-koma manga when Karen asks how she keeps it that way.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's genuinely kind and motherly, [[spoiler: but can be utterly ''ruthless'' against her opponents in the Revues in both the anime and the first stage play. And that's not taking into account how she's more than capable of defeating Maya, her school's top student, multiple times in a never-ending loop she herself put the class in yet.]]
* BirdsOfAFeather: It's implied that part of the reason she quickly develops a sisterly relationship with Yuyuko in ''-Re LIVE-'' is that they shared [[FriendlessBackground similar lonely backgrounds]] with each other: having once been friendless girls in the past before they eventually went to high school and found the very people they would cherish the most in their lives.
* BrilliantButLazy: [[spoiler:She's actually far and away the most talented member of the class. She simply doesn't have the drive Maya and Claudine have, and only puts it to use to ensure her timeloop can continue.]]
* CameraFiend: She is frequently seen taking pictures of her classmates with her smartphone. [[spoiler: This turns out to be symbolically crucial to her motives. She wants to keep the 99th class' ''Starlight'' a permanently frozen moment in time, akin to a picture capturing a single moment.]]
* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler:It turns out that she's been controlling a GroundhogDayLoop for quite some time, and considers the eternally recurring ''Starlight'' to be "hers".]]
* CommonalityConnection: Yuyuko was also once a lonely, friendless girl who wrote scripts all on her own out of interest before she entered high school and met her eventual friends in Rinmeikan. Nana picking up on this once Yuyuko confesses her past to her is what convinces her to help Yuyuko on her own accord during the "Shibahama ~Two Girls' Xmas Rakugo" event story in spite of her initial misgivings about it. She quickly forms a sisterly bond with Yuyuko immediately after learning about it too.
* CoolBigSis: Becomes a doting big sister figure to Yuyuko during the "Shibahama ~Two Girls' Xmas Rakugo" event in ''-Re LIVE-'' when she learns of [[FriendlessBackground the similarities between her and Yuyuko]]. Yuyuko's Magician Arcana card Bond Stories reveal that Nana continues to look after her even after the event and stays by her side to support her when she needs it most.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: While very warm and friendly, and generally unassuming, Nana ranks third on the audition ranking board, right under Maya and Claudine. In fact,[[spoiler: she has defeated Maya and become Top Star in the auditions ''multiple times'']]. When Maya[[spoiler: disappears in chapter 7 of ''-Re LIVE-'']], Nana takes the other lead role in ''Starlight'', co-starring alongside the now top-ranked Claudine.
* CurbStompBattle: Though it's not without exception, she has a track record in the series for usually being the one to dish this out during her revues.
** [[spoiler: While she still ultimately lost their duel in the end, Nana spent most of her fight effortlessly trashing Hikari around with barely any effort. If Hikari hadn't regained her resolve at the last minute, their duel would've been horrendously one-sided in Nana's favor.]]
** [[spoiler:Mahiru completely stood no chance against Nana despite going all out against her in the "Revue of Distortion and Equilibrium" during the ''Arcana Arcadia'' Main Story]] in ''-Re LIVE-''.
** She utterly ''destroys'' the combined might of Maya, Claudine, Junna, Mahiru, Futaba, and Kaoruko during the [[MeaningfulName aptly named]] "Revue of Annihilation" in the sequel movie with little difficulty.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She admits that she can't handle spicy foods.
* DualWielding: She uses a katana and a wakizashi during the auditions, and is notably the only Seisho student to dual wield.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Early in the series, Nana opts out of taking part in a starring role in the next production of ''Starlight'', instead choosing to work with Class B in the support role. Similarly, she was bothered when the rest of the support class started to pitch Karen and Hikari as the two leads rather than Maya and Claudine. [[spoiler: When you later learn that Nana had previously created a GroundhogDayLoop to repeat the same performance of ''Starlight'' before losing to Hikari, it becomes apparent that this earlier decision was her last ditch effort to try and "control" things from behind the scenes.]]
* FriendlessBackground: Before coming to Seisho. This caused her to value the time spent with her current class even more [[spoiler:leading to her setting up the GroundhogDayLoop so she could stay with them forever.]] The ''Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Rondo・Rondo・Rondo'' recap movie's pamphlets explain why: her parents' jobs [[ReallyMovesAround required her family to move around a lot]], so since she never stayed in one school for too long, she was unable to form meaningful friendships with anyone until she entered Seisho.
* GirlishPigtails: Hers are shaped like bananas, which only further enforces her banana motif.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She's got blonde hair and is one of the nicest and most motherly characters in the cast.
* HugeSchoolgirl: She's the tallest member of the cast. Maya points out her height as one of the things that make her the perfect candidate for a "Top Star."
* IAmNotLeftHanded: She has a lot of potential and talent for the stage, but holds herself back most of the time because she just wasn't interested in becoming Top Star like Claudine and Maya are. [[spoiler: Given the right motivation like in the Auditions however, and she can be fearsome once she stops holding herself back. Her skills are formidable enough to defeat Maya multiple times after all.]] She pulls this off during her Revue against Hikari in episode 8 by initially just using her katana to fight her in the first few minutes of their duel before eventually pulling out her wakizashi once she stops playing around.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: [[spoiler:Her FriendlessBackground leads her to be overly attached to the rest of the class, making her want for them to [[GroundhogDayLoop stay that way forever.]]]]
* IWillWaitForYou: Word for word in ''#2 Transition'' to Hisame of Seiran General Art Institute, during a scene set in the present and during Hisame's flashback to their junior high days in the manga adaptation.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: One of her swords is a katana, with the other being a wakizashi.
* NiceGirl: Nana's defining characteristics are her warmth and affection towards the other girls. In Episode 7 [[spoiler:it's revealed that this kindness is what motivates her to keep her and the others frozen in a GroundhogDayLoop.]]
* OneWomanArmy: In the "Revue of Annihilation" in the sequel movie, Nana takes on the combined might of Mahiru, Maya, Claudine, Junna, Futaba, and Kaoruko all at once by herself...and soundly defeats all of them (though she doesn't take off Maya's coat unlike the rest) by the time she declares Position Zero.
* PunnyName: When said out loud, her full name in Japanese order sounds like "dai banana (big banana)", hence her nickname of "Banana".
* StatingTheSimpleSolution: When Karen is panicking because Hikari disappeared, Nana asks is she tried to call her phone.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: In the 4-komas, Nana befriends a frog that Karen shows her. A later story has Nana getting help from a whole ''group'' of frogs to {{flashmob}} Futaba for her birthday.
* StepfordSmiler: She hides her loneliness underneath her kind smiles, something that was given more emphasis on the prequel manga back when the 99th class were still first years. The bond and genuine friendship she developed with her friends and classmates helps heal her from this loneliness, [[spoiler: serving as her primary motivation for putting everyone in a time loop for an unknown amount of times because of how much she treasures her time with them.]]
* SupremeChef: She knows a lot of recipes and her friends love her cooking, though a lot of the food she makes tends to be banana-flavored.
* TeamMom: She often cooks snacks for her friends and generally helps them and worries over them like a mother figure would. Episode 7 goes into this aspect of her personality more, specifically how she helps the other girls and how deeply she's impacted when two of her classmates drop out of the academy after not being able to keep up with the pressure. [[spoiler: It's in fact her kind, motherly nature that leads her to keep the others trapped in a GroundhogDayLoop without them knowing. Nana states flat-out that she doesn't care about being the Top Star, she just wants to keep returning to the "bright" memories of the 99th performance over and over again because of how happy and carefree everyone was during that time...[[DeconstructedCharacterArchetype at the expense of never allowing anyone to move forward or grow]].]]
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Subverted. Despite being heavily associated with bananas due to her PunnyName and often making banana-flavored sweets for her friends, her profile states that her favorite food is actually pork miso soup.
* WalkingInRhythm: During the opening of the "Revue of Annihilation," Nana taps her foot to the beat of the revue song.
* WalkingSpoiler: Big time after TheReveal.
* WellIntentionedExtremist:
** [[spoiler:Keeps everyone trapped in a GroundhogDayLoop simply so they can all be happy.]]
** [[spoiler:She plans to defeat everyone during ''Arcana Arcadia'' to protect her friends as she believes that everyone's desires to become the "Unknown Lead" has been driving everyone to madness. Given what's been happening to Frontier because of that goal, she's isn't off her mark.]]

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claudine_revue.png]]
-> '''Portrayed by''': Aina Aiba (Japanese), Creator/ChristinaKelly (English)\
''"Everyone has an equal chance to shine...\
So, through the dance of love,\
I shall burn more passionately,\
Soar on freedom's wings higher than anyone!\
I am the second-ranked student of the 99th Class, Claudine Saijo!\
C'est moi, la star! [[labelnote:Translation]] It is I, the star![[/labelnote]]"''\

A half-Japanese, half-French girl with a Japanese father and French mother. She's an extremely talented girl who has been acting on the stage since she was a child. She has considered the brightly-shining actress Maya her rival ever since meeting her.
----
* TheAce: She's second only to Maya when it comes to talent and is officially Seisho's second best student overall. Like her, she excels in all forms of revue and is considered to be a cut above the rest of her class barring Maya [[spoiler: and to a certain extent, Nana]].
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: She lacks her stage play counterpart's snobby condescension towards the others in the anime. Thanks to that, her playful friendliness and her warm consideration towards the others are played up more.
* ADayInTheLimelight: She's the protagonist of ''-Re LIVE's-'' 7th Main Story chapter, which follows her as she deals with being the first and only one among the 99th [[spoiler: to notice that Maya had gone missing not just physically, but also in everyone's memories, leading her trying to find her and getting all of their friends to remember her.]]
* AlwaysSecondBest: Claudine's primary beef with Maya. No matter how hard Claudine tries, she always ends up short of being first place only for Maya to one up her every time.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: Claudine herself discusses how this trope applies to her. In her own words, she always thought she was "special" thanks to her career as a child actor, but when she entered Seisho Music Academy, she found someone who was even better than her in all areas: Maya.
* AmnesiaMissedASpot: The events of Chapter 7 might have gone very differently [[spoiler: if Claudine's determination to surpass Maya had also been wiped along with her memories. She realizes that something's wrong [[SpottingTheThread when she retains those feelings despite having no one to direct them towards]], given that she's supposed to already be at the top.]]
* ButNotTooForeign: She has a Japanese father and a French mother.
* ChildProdigy: Was very well-known for her exceptional talent on the stage ever since she was a child.
* CoolSword: Uses a longsword.
* DeadpanSnarker: On occasion. Usually it's Maya and Karen who get to bring out this side of her every now and then.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her very first line in the anime is teasing Karen while singing, showing her to be somewhat playful—but when Maya enters the scene moments later she immediately becomes much less relaxed.
* ForeignLanguageTirade: After getting spooked by Karen who was looking for Hikari, she angrily lets loose entire sentences in French, when she usually only throws a few words.
* FormerChildStar: Defied. She was a renowned gifted child actress when she was younger and continues to love being on the stage in the present day. While it's unclear just how active Claudine still is in the entertainment industry in her teenage years aside from studying in a prestigious performing arts school, she isn't in any way a troubled young adult whatsoever likely because her parents (especially her [[DotingParent mother]]) were very supportive of her growing up.
* FullNameBasis: Addresses and refers to Maya only by her full name.
* TheGadfly: She's fond of playfully teasing her classmates from time to time.
* GratuitousFrench: Being half-French, she occasionally throws some French words in her speech.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Her hair is naturally blonde, and while her proud and competitive demeanor make you think otherwise, is actually caring in her own way to her friends. She helps Futaba out with her dance lessons without expecting anything in return and in the prequel manga, goes along with Kaoruko to buy candy for Futaba after realizing how Kaoruko is inexperienced in going out on her own.
* HotBlooded: When it comes to her rivalry with Maya. In fact, her feelings toward her rival are so strong that it ends up helping Claudine [[spoiler: remember the disappeared Maya even after the latter had been effectively erased from everyone's memories]] in ''-Re LIVE's-'' 7th Chapter.
* InSeriesNickname: Some of her classmates call her Kuro which is a pun on her name written in katakana. Futaba also calls her "Kuro-ko" sometimes. Becomes a bit of a running gag when even underclassmen from different schools like Aruru and Yachiyo start getting in on the nickname and call her "Kuro-chan" and "Kuro-san" respectively even though they've literally just started to get to know her on two separate occasions, much to Claudine's consternation.
--> '''Yachiyo:''' Then I'm with Kuro-san.
--> '''Claudine:''' ...Being called that is a bit distracting.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Pulls off an impressive one in her Cardinal Richelieu card in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* NonUniformUniform: When the girls have ballet classes, all the other girls wear the same basic sleeveless black leotard except for Maya and Claudine, who wears a short-sleeved pink one. Justified because they're the two most experienced ballerinas in the class and in many real-life ballet schools, the more skilled dancers are allowed greater freedom in their practice outfits as a sign of their greater experience.
* {{Ojou}}: Though it was only vaguely implied in most ''Revue Starlight''-related media, the ''4-koma Starlight'' gag manga confirms that Claudine comes from an affluent family and sees no problem making expensive purchases every now and then.
* OutOfFocus: Subverted plot-wise, but she's the only one of the 99th to lack a Revue song she could call her own as her duel with Karen, unlike the others, was mostly relegated offscreen.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Wears a pink leotard to the girls' ballet practice.
* PlayingAgainstType: InUniverse, Claudine tends to be cast as a hero or protagonist, like Flora in ''Starlight'', Carabas in ''Puss in Boots'', and the Prince in ''Theatre/TheNutcracker''. The trope is {{lampshaded}} when she has to play Richelieu in ''Literature/TheThreeMusketeers'', and she contemplates while practicing her EvilLaugh that she used to always be cast as D'Artagnan. The 4-koma also shows her playing one of the oni in a production of ''{{Literature/Momotaro}}''.
* QuitYourWhining: She angrily and sternly tells Ichie to stuff it during the "First Brilliance of the Year - Takamagahara Priestesses" event story after the latter kept telling herself that she's "just" Seisho's guest performer, all while constantly belittling her own abilities as an actress and hindering her performance as Hitsuki as a result.
* SecondPlaceIsForLosers: Seems to have this mindset, as she is bitterly resentful towards Maya for being the lead in rankings, and seeks to usurp her position.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Kaoruko and Futaba in the third OVA.
* ShipTease: Her and Maya have a lot of tension like this between each other, her fixation on beating Maya only adds to it. And Claudine has photos of Maya on her tablet, to study her dancing of course, and she immediately keeps Karen from seeing she's looking at them when Karen takes her by surprise.
* SpoiledSweet: She's implied to be well-off financially, had a fruitful career as a talented child actress when she was younger, and a conversation with Kaoruko in ''-Re LIVE-'' heavily implies that her mom is very doting towards her. Claudine also happens to be one of the more empathetic and kind students in the 99th Class so it's safe to say that she was raised right in spite of living in privilege almost her whole life.
* SweetTooth: Her favorite treats are macarons, there's her love for whatever sweet desserts Nana cooks up, and whenever she hangs out with Kaoruko outside practice, there's usually sweets involved in it.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: To Maya. [[spoiler: Which is why when Maya loses against Karen in their dual Revue against her and Hikari, Claudine insists that it was ''she herself'' who lost, not Maya.]]
* {{Tritagonist}}: The closest thing to one in the series right after [[TheProtagonist Karen]] and [[{{Deuteragonist}} Hikari]]. Though she lacks an official Revue song of her own[[note]] Not counting "Star Divine-Finale-"[[/note]], her personal conflict with and determination to surpass Maya as well as her relationship with her form the secondary plot to the show's main story and she gets the most amount of focus out of all the characters next to Karen and Hikari. Her being the main protagonist of ''-Re LIVE's-'' 7th chapter in the main story makes this explicit.
* {{Tsundere}}: To Maya. She's friendly with everyone else but is easily riled up and sometimes antagonistic towards Maya, and ''only'' Maya.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Maya. She's legitimately surprised to hear that both Kaoruko and Maya herself believe that she and Maya are close friends who get along really well in a conversation between the three in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* WistfulAmnesia: [[spoiler: Though Maya may have been effectively removed from everyone's memories in ''"Maya Tendo" Erased'' after she mysteriously disappears, [[AmnesiaMissedASpot Claudine's feelings of fiery determination to defeat her fated rival remain]], despite not knowing exactly ''who'' she wanted to surpass in the first place. This eventually ends up helping her fully remember Maya in spite of everyone's memories of her being wiped clean from their minds.]]

Kaoruko's childhood friend who enrolled as a student at Seisho Music Academy because she did. She has a sharp tongue, but is actually very kind. Despite having a tendency to complain, she always puts Kaoruko's wellbeing first.
----
* BadassBiker: She takes Kaoruko to school with her motorbike.
* BeleagueredAssistant: She's basically Kaoruko's caretaker since childhood and has always been annoyed by how high maintenance Kaoruko can be.
* BerserkButton: Hates being called short as revealed in ''-Re LIVE-''.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Has short hair and a tomboy demeanor. Notably, despite the series being heavily inspired by the Creator/TakarazukaRevue, she's the only character who really fits the bill of an ''otokoyaku'' with her boyish looks and attitude. She's also much shorter than the typical bifauxnen character.
* BoyishShortHair: She has the shortest hair out of all the main characters, emphasizing her tomboyish attitude.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Kaoruko. In the manga, she says they are like family.
** ChildhoodFriendRomance: It's very strongly implied in the prequel manga and the anime that the two are together romantically. They are always seen together, Claudine is surprised in episode 3 that she wasn't with Kaoruko. Futaba even says in the anime Kaoruko is special to her.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: She's been looking after Kaoruko since they were kids, and in the present day, she's often the one dragging her to class while she's drowsy.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has a knack for taking jabs at others most of the time. Her primary targets of snark are usually Kaoruko and Karen.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Her tongue's sharp, but she's very caring towards her friends and loved ones all the same.
* LapPillow: Gives a few of those to Kaoruko.
* MasculineFeminineGayCouple: With Kaoruko. The {{Tomboy}} Futaba is obviously the masculine side.
* OnlySaneWoman: Together with Junna, she's usually the first to [[DeadpanSnarker dryly point out]] the eccentricities her classmates usually engage in and is the one who always puts Kaoruko back in line whenever she overindulges herself in her ego. Unlike Junna however, there are plenty of times where she'll [[NotSoAboveItAll join in with the rest in their silliness]] regardless of what she thinks.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: She's the shortest student in the 99th Class but is stated to be the best performer when it comes to theatrical fight scenes and is one of the most athletic girls in Seisho. Her weapon is even a giant axe in the Auditions, and it's definitely not light by any means. A Memoir in ''-Re LIVE-'' also shows that her height doesn't impede her fighting ability one bit, as she can easily match and take on much taller opponents like Rui with little difficulty even though Futaba should be at a disadvantage due to her shorter stature.
* SelectiveObliviousness: PlayedForLaughs in separate occasions in the game:
** She once pieces out that [[TerribleArtist Maya]] keeps skipping art classes under the same excuse that she's not feeling well, but just chooses not to think about it too much.
** In her Strength card's Bond Stories, she's also completely oblivious to the fact that Tamao's family owns the famous Kappo Tomoye restaurant [[note]]though romanized as "Tomoye" in the localized version, it's actually pronounced as "''Tomoe''"[[/note]] despite the restaurant's name sounding suspiciously similar to Tamao's surname and the fact that Tamao's being incredibly insistent that she gets to treat Futaba to a famous and expensive restaurant like that without worrying about the expenses at all. While those can be easily dismissed away, what isn't is the fact that one of Kappo Tomoye's signature ponzu dishes is literally named after ''Fumi'', which Futaba briefly notices before quickly shrugging it off as a coincidence.
* SuperStrength: The second musical has several moments where Futaba carries or lifts Kaoruko (although, contrasting with their characters, Ikuta is taller than Itou). ''-Re LIVE-'' also touches on how Futaba's classmates perceive her strength: a My Theater conversation implies Nana brought Futaba into the kitchen as her assistant so Futaba would do the heavy lifting, and one of Karen's ideas when told that the prop nutcrackers used in the performance of ''Theatre/TheNutcracker'' cannot open her walnuts is to ask Claudine if ''Futaba'' can.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The {{Tomboy}} to Kaoruko's GirlyGirl, with her short hair, sharp tongue and talent for physical activities contrasting with Kaoruko's status as a lady of a high-class family.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: She loves kinako sweets.
* WhatTheHellHero: Sums up her role in episode 6. Through both actions and words, she calls out Kaoruko for being lazy, taking her support for granted, and childishly calling for attention instead of trying to better herself together with her.

''"Dancing and singing back and forth,\

I'll have you follow me till the very end!"''\

The granddaughter of a master of Japanese dance with extraordinary skills in song and dance. A high-class lady, she relies on Futaba to serve as her hand and foot. She always has a gentle smile on her face, but is actually very calculating.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the first stage play's version of Kaoruko and Futaba's duel, Kaoruko actively baited Futaba into coming closer to her so she can cut off her clasp and take off her coat to win using fake tears and taking complete advantage of Futaba's kindness and love for her, [[KickTheDog a dirty stunt she pulls off successfully with little remorse.]] While she does something similar in the anime (see her ISurrenderSuckers entry below), Kaoruko doesn't go through with slashing Futaba's clasp off in the same way and actually wins her Revue duel against her fair and square this time. Plus, the tears she shed in the anime were at least partially sincere.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: As an addendum to the above, Kaoruko in the anime is significantly less egotistic and mean-spirited than her stage play version, as the anime plays up her noble and positive traits more while toning down some of her selfishness.
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: To Tamao Tomoe, who feels that she can't match Kaoruko's natural talents with her own. [[spoiler:Chapter 18 of the game reveals that Kaoruko mutually feels the same way towards Tamao.]]
* AttentionWhore: Loves being the center of attention every time, which is her motivation for wanting to be the lead in every play and the Top Star in general. Ironically, she's [[ShrinkingViolet shy]] around people she doesn't know all too well when she isn't vying for their attention during performances.
* BerserkButton:
** Tamao unintentionally earns Kaoruko's ire the moment she told Kaoruko not to compete against Rinmeikan in their Revue against each other due to Tamao's fears of facing her and losing during their reunion at the beginning of ''-Re LIVE's-'' Main Story.
** After Chapter 7 of the Main Story, Andrew becomes a big one for her in general.
** She also apparently throws a [[ClingyJealousGirl tantrum]] whenever Futaba lets other girls besides her ride with Futaba on her motorcycle.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She generally seems to be more devious then she lets on. Like how she was teasing and stirring up Mahiru's jealousy over Hikari and Karen's relationship.
* BrilliantButLazy: DeconstructedTrope. She is a talented dancer, with the ranking shown at the end of episode 3 putting her as the fourth best in her class. But because she is too arrogant and lazy to give her all during practice, she is quickly left behind by her classmates.
* TheBully: Acts like a haughty AlphaBitch around Tamao after their first reunion turned sour in the first Main Story chapter. Whether or not she was genuinely being one or if she's just putting up an [[JerkassFacade act]] to ruffle up Tamao's feathers and intentionally provoke her old friend as a response to their first encounter is left ambiguous however. PlayedForLaughs in ''Shoujo Conte All Starlight'' where she mercilessly makes fun of Tamao and enjoys it.
* ButtMonkey: Her ego makes her an easy target for unwanted comedic antics coming her way or for her friends to make fun of.
* CannotSpitItOut: Platonic variety. She's always loath to admit that she actually cares for her friends out of embarrassment. [[spoiler: This also extends to her treatment of Tamao, despite being seemingly antagonistic towards her every time they meet.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: Has this relationship with Futaba. It's also heavily implied she and Tamao were also childhood friends in the past, though their relationship has gone sour in the present.
** ChildhoodFriendRomance: It's very strongly implied in the prequel manga and the anime the two are together romantically. During the talk she has with Mahiru in episode 3 she even compares Mahiru's crush on Karen to herself and Futaba.
* ClingyJealousGirl: It's implied in the game that Kaoruko dislikes sharing Futaba with just anyone, if her reactions to Futaba secretly rehearsing with Claudine and Futaba giving Maya a joyride on her motorcycle are anything. [[spoiler:Futaba knows about this too, as she asks Tamao to keep it a secret from Kaoruko that she let Tamao ride her motorcycle with her.]]
* CruelToBeKind: Kaoruko speaks rather harshly to Tamao, openly berating her in front of both their friends whenever she can, and spends almost the entirety of her interactions with the latter in the game generally being dismissive of her. This comes after Tamao unintentionally annoys her in their initial encounter. As it turns out though, Kaoruko wasn't being cold to her out of simple spite, [[spoiler: but because she realized Tamao's extreme selflessness and naivety were hindering her own growth as a stage girl and that she was too afraid to take risks for her team. Kaoruko then took it upon herself to lecture her about this so she can improve herself after Rinmeikan loses to Seisho in their Revue together.]]
* DoesNotLikeSpam: She hates green onions so she dumps them on Futaba's plate whenever her dish has them in it.
* DisappointedInYou: Her aloof and cold behavior towards Tamao at the beginning of ''-Re LIVE-'' in spite of their implied friendship with each other in the past is mostly rooted in her annoyance over the latter's overly selfless attitude hindering her growth as a Stage Girl (Tamao telling Kaoruko to drop out of the Auditions was just icing on the cake). While Kaoruko ''does'' care for and even considers Tamao as her legitimate rival, it's clear that she's disappointed at Tamao's inability to grow herself forward because she prioritizes the others over herself too much.
* HardWorkHardlyWorks: Subverted. Due to her natural talent at stage combat granting her an initial edge over several of her classmates, she thinks that she can simply use this and her reliance on Futaba to cruise along comfortably near the top of her class. It is her laziness and lack of interest in actually working to sharpen her skills that causes her to eventually be left in the dust of her otherwise less talented classmates, who actually put in the work to better themselves.
* HeirToTheDojo: She's the slated heiress to her family's Senka-ryuu traditional dance school.
* HiddenDepths: Though she's heavily associated with traditional Japanese arts, English is one of the subjects she proudly admits that she excels in.
* IntrovertedCatPerson: She's very shy around people she doesn't know well, as shown in the Overture manga, and she steals food from the class refrigerator to feed to a stray cat and coos at it in Watson Claudine Bond Story 2.
* ISurrenderSuckers: During her duel with Futaba, she makes a big show of cutting off her own clasp, but only as a gambit to trick Futaba into getting into the range of her weapon. It fails only because her attack was purposely too shallow.
* ItsAllAboutMe: She loves being the center of attention and will throw a small tantrum if things don't go her way, as seen in her [[ADayInTheLimelight focus episode]]. She does mostly grow out of it however, after realizing how much she took Futaba for granted and taking Maya's words of wisdom to heart.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She's arrogant, has a selfish streak, and is not above tattling on her friends just so she could get them in trouble, but ultimately does care for them deep down in her own way. [[spoiler:Despite the verbal lashing she gives Andrew, particularly about the danger the Elle Note is putting them all in, she's visibly uncomfortable with the idea of destroying it when she realizes [[CessationOfExistence what that would mean for our Elle and Andrew, who are also products of its power]].]]
* KindheartedCatLover: Claudine once catches her being all sweet and affectionate towards a cat she's been secretly feeding at night in Watson Claudine's second Bond Story, much to Kaoruko's embarrassment.
* LazyBum: She'd rather not exert too much energy outside of rehearsals and dancing so she delegates most of the tasks she doesn't want to do to Futaba. Even walking to school from the dorms is too much for her even though it's literally just walking distance! Her main dislike according to her profile is even housework.
* MaliciousMisnaming: She started the "Abominamole" nickname for Andrew. It seems to have stuck given the other girls from the other schools know of and use the nickname against him.
* MasculineFeminineGayCouple: With Futaba. Kaoruko, being a wealthy {{Ojou}}, is the feminine side.
* NaginataAreFeminine: She wields a naginata, tying into her image as a YamatoNadeshiko.
* NoSocialSkills: The prequel manga reveals that due to her over-reliance of Futaba, she was unable to properly interact with her classmates on her own when she first arrived at school. She got better with time.
* {{Ojou}}: The prequel manga shows her family is quite wealthy with her not knowing what the names of low priced sweets were and waving around a credit card. She falls squarely into the bratty type, being arrogant, lazy and relying on Futaba to do everything for her while still being naive about working-class life.
* PickyEater: Subtly implied to be one, dumping parts of her lunch she dislikes onto Futaba's plate.
* TheResenter: [[spoiler:It's revealed in Chapter 18 of ''-Re LIVE-'' that she's secretly been very bitterly resentful of Tamao since she first met the girl, as Tamao had managed to successfully garner praise from Kaoruko's strict grandmother with her skills while Kaoruko had never once been complimented over hers by her.]]
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: As shown in the prequel manga, her sheltered upbringing left her clueless when it comes to dealing with the real world. She even tried to buy off some kinako sweets from a kid with her ''black card'' instead of actual money. It's a running gag she doesn't know how to actually use a train on her own.
* TheRival: To Tamao Tomoe from Rinmeikan Girls School in ''-Re LIVE-'', as they both trained under Kaoruko's grandmother and Tamao sees Kaoruko as the biggest obstacle she and her friends need to face to become Top Stars.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Claudine and Maya in the third OVA.
* ShrinkingViolet: Before she eventually became comfortable around her friends besides Futaba, she was formerly this in her first year at Seisho, as revealed in the prequel manga.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: She is often seen on the verge of falling asleep.
* SpoiledBrat: Her primary behavior as a result of being raised in a wealthy household that fed her everything on a silver spoon whenever she asked of it. She tends to be [[ItsAllAboutMe rather self-centered]] and relies on Futaba to do everything for her.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The GirlyGirl to Futaba's {{Tomboy}}, with her lady-like behavior contrasting with Futaba's short hair, sharp tongue and talent for physical activities.
* TheUnfavorite: [[spoiler:She certainly feels this way after hearing her own grandmother praise and favor Tamao over her, the same grandmother who never once gave Kaoruko a single word of praise for her skills herself.]]
* {{Troll}}: Big time. She does a lot of mischievous stuff to her friends in her spare time for her own amusement.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Subverted. She appears to be one on the surface with her skills in Japanese dancing, hailing from a traditional family and using a naginata during stage combat, but her personality doesn't fit the trope at all since she's actually arrogant, self-centered and lazy.

* BrutalHonesty: Bluntly tells [[BrilliantButLazy Kaoruko]] in Episode 6 that the reason she wasn't shortlisted as one of the qualifiers for the initial audition they put up for their new reproduction of ''Starlight'' was that there was no place for her there and that her performance was extremely lacking.

-> '''Portrayed by''': Creator/KarinTakahashi (Japanese)\

A new student from Seisho's 101st Class studying under its Stage Production Department introduced in the spin-off play, ''Blue Glitter''. She is the younger sister of Seiran's Koharu Yanagi.
-------
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To the aloof Koharu, who usually brushes her off and at worst, ignores her.
* FamilyThemeNaming: She and Koharu are both thematically named after the season of spring. In Sakura's case, her name means "cherry blossom" in Japanese.
* {{Foil}}: To Shiori Yumeoji from Siegfeld, her exact opposite in almost every way, right down to their relationships with their older sisters. They both have older sisters who are aloof towards them, but while Sakura is seemingly unbothered by Koharu's cold treatment of her, Fumi's sudden departure and inability to tell her younger sister why hurt Shiori, who both worries and resents her for it. Sakura is cheerful and energetic, while Shiori is more softspoken and reserved. Their classes of choice even contrast each other: Sakura belongs to the Stage Production course in Seisho, meaning she's studying with the role of a stage hand in mind, while Shiori is an Edel who takes classes on acting and dancing onstage.
* GenkiGirl: She's cheerful and upbeat and ever the optimist.
* SiblingYinYang: She's a very energetic and openly friendly girl unlike her stoic and socially awkward older sister, Koharu.
