Being raised as a vampire, he joined Dracula's army and became a vampire knight under the tutelage of Lord Cryptos and rechristened as "Requiem". As it turns out there is more to Requiem than he knows and he becomes entangled in a plot to overthrow Dracula from power in Résurrection.

But to call him a VillainProtagonist would be exaggerating, as he really isn't just as bad as other Résurrection residents (quite the opposite, he is considered a ''degenerate'' for having traits like [[BadIsGoodAndGoodIsBad honor and chivalry]]) and he regrets the horrible things he did in life. And he genuinely cares for Rebecca and regrets the way he previously treated her.
11	* TheAtoner: Well, to an extent: he is already in Hell for his crimes and he certainly believes he deserves to suffer for the crimes he commits. However, he also wants to make amends to Rebecca to make up for their abusive past.
