Also noteworthy is that this is the overall slowest Generation, as many fully evolved Pokémon are {{Mighty Glacier}}s. Nearly every Pokémon introduced in Generation VII (either brand new or a new form) also have [[SecretArt Abilities or Moves that are unique to it]].

13	As ''Sun and Moon'' uses Hawaii as its greatest inspiration, most of the Pokémon introduced in this generation are based on species found in the tropics (either native to Hawaii itself or based on something found on other tropical islands or reefs).

15	As Gen VI did with Mega Evolutions, variations of Generation I Pokémon are found in Alola with different appearances, moves, abilities, and types are introduced in Gen VII. Information on variants are included under the Pokémon species, rather than here. Gen VII is also the first generation to add brand new species of Pokémon mid-generation: The initial number was 81, then five more species were added for ''VideoGame/PokemonUltraSunAndUltraMoon'' and two others were introduced in ''Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee'', bringing the total to 88.
