After a day-long battle, he was ultimately defeated, and after an emotional exchange with Hashirama, he finally relented and agreed to form an alliance. In the end, the two clans were united under a single village, and after making an agreement with the land's Daimyo, gave rise to the "One Nation, One Village" system. |

Sometime after Hashirama was named the First Hokage, Madara used his Eternal Mangekyo to decipher the Uchiha's sacred stone tablet and fell into despair upon realizing the meaning of its contents. Fearing that the Senju would one day subjugate and perhaps even annihilate the Uchiha, he tried to persuade his clansmen to leave the village. Though he did perish from his wounds, he had prepared Izanagi to rewrite his death beforehand, and was later revived. Madara then went into hiding for several decades, making preparations for his Eye of the Moon Plan. As an elderly man, he implanted his newly-awakened Rinnegan into Nagato and saved the life of Obito Uchiha, whom he eventually recruited to carry on his plans until he could be resurrected in his physical prime. |
