An Esper Mercenary hired by Claw during their push for world domination, actually a government-employed Esper hired to assassinate Touichirou. His specialty is White Noise, allowing him to control smoke.
----
* BigGood: He works for the government who's hired to track down and stop dangerous espers from wreaking havoc, such as Touichirou or [[spoiler: ???%]].
* DoubleAgent: He's introduced working for Claw as they prepare to take over the world, only to reveal that he works for the government and is plotting to stop the False King.
* OhCrap: When Serizawa breaks through the solidified smoke barrier, Joseph (who had been progressively losing his cool as the Super 5 wiped out the mercenaries attacking Claw) goes wide-eyed in shock and freezes up.
* SuperSmoke: His White Noise ability allows him to control smoke, to the point that he can make it as hard as steel to suffocate his enemies.

[[folder:Fukuda]]
One of Shou's crew. An esper with the ability to heal wounds, and an overprotective attitude.
----
* UnwantedAssistance: Shou gets injured so rarely that Fukuda is afraid he might be seen as useless. To compensate, he follows Shou around and tries to heal extremely minor injuries like paper cuts and mosquito bites. The only thing he succeeds in doing, however, is pissing Shou off.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ootsuki]]
One of Shou's crew. An esper who can control wind through inanimate objects. Currently uses a paper fan.
----
* ImprobableWeaponUser: While a paper fan seems to resonate with his powers the most, he also tried using a slipper, a newspaper, and a toy hammer before Shou saved him from making a fool of himself.

A man who got scared by a roach and died from hitting his head on a ceiling. He became a ghost who haunts people's nightmares.
----
* EekAMouse: Got so scared by a cockroach that he hit the ceiling and died.
* NoSell: Absolutely immune to Reigen's vicious Splash Salt secret technique. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]], as Reigen used regular old table salt instead of special purified salt designed for exorcisms.
* StarterVillain: The first villain/evil spirit to be introduced in the series.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Is extremely incredulous that a middle-schooler like Mob would try to exorcise him. He regretted it pretty quickly.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: He doesn't get to do much before Mob exorcises him with a wave of his hand.

A biker who slipped on a banana and caught his entire gang into a deadly motorcycle accident. He and his biker stooges now haunt the Bone Well Tunnel.
----
* BaldOfEvil: He has no hair and terrorizes everyone without a care.
* BananaPeel: The cause of his [[TotalPartyKill entire gang's deaths.]]
* DiscOneFinalBoss: In the anime. He's the boss of the biker ghosts in Bone Well, but he's taking orders from a larger, much more dangerous spirit who's lived in the tunnel for ages.
* PlayingWithFire: Has pyrokinetic attacks, symbolized with the motorcycle engine on his back.
* SympathyForTheDevil: In the anime. He was responsible for plenty of problems in Bone Well Tunnel, but Mob helps him and his gang move on peacefully after he ensures the memory of their days as human bikers will never die.

An entity born from collective belief in the urban legend of the same name, she manifests as a woman with a mouth sliced open along her whole jaw, who asks her victims if she's pretty before slicing them up with her scissors.

In the anime, she is changed to a woman who walks around, dragging several broken dolls on a string. Upon encountering someone, she asks them if they're thirsty before drowning them in the swamp. Her origin, however, remains the same.
----
* AbsurdlySharpClaws: In the anime, since she is changed to a different urban legend, she has no scissors but has extremely long, deadly sharp claws instead.
* AdaptationDeviation: She is changed to a completely different character in the anime, though her function (an entity born of collective belief, which can only be exorcised by someone who has no fear in her) remains the same.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: In the anime, the Dragger is able to shatter the dolls she drags around to enhance one of her arms and form a razor-sharp blade.
* ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve: The collective belief in her urban legend gave form to her.
* CreepyDoll: In the anime, she drags several large, partially shattered dolls on a string behind her.
* EmotionEater: Because she is born from the belief of others, she adopts the characteristics attributed to her. Thus, being afraid of her makes her become more and more deserving of that fear, and thus more powerful. Anyone who sees her as an unstoppable threat cannot destroy her by any means, but Mob -- who feels no fear in her presence -- is able to obliterate her with little effort.
* OneWingedAngel: In the anime, she fuses with the entire swampland she haunts as her final stand, turning into a massive, monstrous water and mud elemental.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Subverted. She is not a ghost or any sort of traditional evil spirit, but instead more of a collective {{tulpa}}.
* ShearMenace: In the manga, in keeping with the overall myth of the Kuchisake-Onna.
* SlasherSmile: Like the original myth.
* StringyHairedGhostGirl: Appears as traditional onryō with either a mutilated (manga) or rotting (anime) face.
* {{Tulpa}}: She is effectively an unwillingly and collectively created thoughtform.
* {{Youkai}}: In the manga, she's inspired by the real-life myth of the Kuchisake-Onna. In the anime, her origins are different and she doesn't seem to be based on any particular youkai.
* YourMindMakesItReal: She was born by the belief in her, and fearing her makes her even stronger. Mob being unaware of her legend allows him to exorcise her without incident.

[[quoteright:1000:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20231217_181917_2.png]]
An evil spirit born of a ghost who was socially awkward around girls in life. Haunts an All-Girls School.
----
* ThePeepingTom: His modus operandi.
* PowerPerversionPotential: Uses his techniques as an evil spirit to peep on girls in the bathroom and steal their personal items. He only reveals himself truly when Mob traps him in the school's gymnasium.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's basically a [[MonsterOfTheWeek spirit of the week]], but his regrets of not living his youth to the fullest is what motivate Mob to join the Body Improvement Club over the Telepathy Club.

[[folder:Wiggly Figure]]
[[quoteright:1000:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_20231217_180945.png]]
A spirit that feeds by absorbing nutrients from living things. Encountered withering the crops on the farm that it haunts.
----
* DemBones: Its main body is a skull buried in the soil of the farm.
* GreenThumb: Can control plants and roots.
* {{Henohenomoheji}}: The face on its scarecrow decoy.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: A mere, one-time antagonist who helps Mob develop his own GreenThumb power.
----

[[folder:Keiji Mogami (Spoilers)]]
!!!'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AkiraIshida (Japanese), Creator/SeanChiplock (English) [[labelnote:Foreign [=VAs=]]]Roberto Gutiérrez (Latin American Spanish), Marcelo Campos (Brazilian Portuguese), Renaud Heine (French), Creator/FedericoViola (Italian), Daniel Pietzuch (German)[[/labelnote]]
[[quoteright:320:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mogami.png]]

A historically famous and extremely powerful Esper who became the strongest evil spirit upon committing suicide. He is encountered possessing a rich girl named Minori Asagiri.
----
* AffablyEvil: Very soft-spoken and calm. He's genuinely like this and at most expresses mild surprise when something unexpected happens. Even in the face of utter defeat he simply delivers an analytical comment about it and escapes.
* AmbiguousSituation: It's not entirely clear what happens to him after he gets free in the World Domination Arc. However, he is most likely lurking out there somewhere considering that an Evil Spirit has to be at peace to pass on, something he certainly wasn't.
* ArcVillain: Of the aptly named Mogami Arc. Notable for having the longest personal screentime of any individual villain, even more than Suzuki, since The World Domination arc attention is diluted between the massive amount of characters present on it.
* AssassinOutclassin: After he stopped working as a hitman, he mentions many were sent to kill him. Keiji doesn't really expand on this... but he is shown walking away from a mountain of corpses.
* TheCorrupter: Comes one step away from mentally breaking Mob by throwing him into an utterly hopeless world in an attempt to make him adopt his world view. He ultimately fails but only because of Dimple's intervention.
* CreepyShadowedUndereyes: Constantly has these. He likes the look enough to actually manifest his spirit form with them.
* {{Curse}}: While he was alive laying these was his SignatureMove as an esper.
* DefiantCaptive: [[spoiler: Despite being captured by Matsuo, he proves to be his most difficult and untamed spirit among his collection]].
* DemonicPossession: Possesses a young rich girl in his first appearance. Attempts to pull this on Mob's vacant body when he uses the out of body technique, but Dimple fortunately takes the body first and protects it.
* DissonantSerenity: He views people who pick on others as a plague on society and casually claims their lives have no worth when corrupting Mob.
* DreamLand: Capable of creating one inside the person he is possessing. He can shape it to his will and alter its fundamental rules, but his control over it wavers if the victims inside are strong enough to resist the MindRape
* EarlyBirdCameo: Only in the anime -- he can be seen on the left side of the screen alongside multiple other psychics in the opening narration of the first episode.
* EldritchAbomination: Powerful enough to qualify as this, and Dimple openly refers to him as the strongest evil spirit.
* EmbarrassingNickname: [[spoiler:Like all spirits Matsuo captures, Mogami gets a sugary pet name -- Pudding-chan.]]
* EnergyAbsorption: In life, he absorbed the power of Evil Spirits so that he'd become an exceptionally powerful one in death. When he's re-released during Claw's attempted coup, he decides to drain the energy from Claw's esper army as well. Mob later copies this style of ability during the final showdown with Claw's Boss.
* FamedInStory: One of the world's most known psychics by virtue of being the first one to actually show the world the supernatural occurrences, psychic powers and paranormal events on television back when he was a teenager, and remaining as a TV celebrity until much later. He's equally famed in the spirit community for being the strongest and most dangerous evil spirit.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: He likes to use the appearance he had as a 24-year-old, which he describes as his peak in human life. Somewhat unique in this since almost all evil spirits use outright monstrous forms or at least humanesque abominations, but Mogami likes his actual human visage and only starts to drop it when he is forced to use larger amounts of power.
* FreudianExcuse: When it became clear that people cared more about using his powers than they did helping him as a person, especially when his mother was dying of illness, he started becoming bitter towards all of humanity. His time spent as a hitman and the reveal that his mother's illness was a result of his powers drawing evil spirits towards her lead him to snap completely, and declare that powers like his and Mob's should only be used for their own gain.
* GreenThumb: Can possess plants to create large vine-like monsters.
* HumanoidAbomination: As an esper, he ate Evil Spirits for breakfast -- in a much more literal sense than Mob.
* KarmaHoudini: Briefly averted when he is [[spoiler:captured by Matsuo]], but then [[spoiler:some Claw espers end up unwittingly unleashing him upon the world again]]. As of the World Domination Arc, this horrific monstrosity known as the most powerful and hateful evil spirit is somewhere out there, completely free to do whatever it wants - although it seems like his meeting with Mob '''may''' be the beginning of a HeelFaceTurn.
* KnightOfCerebus: The biggest of the ''entire'' series, massively outclassing Koyama or any other villain in this regard. His arc is by far the darkest in the series.
* InstantDeathRadius: His life drains ability allows him to kill people around him. Even low-class espers get instantly killed by this. He comments that they are a nice meal.
* MindRape: He basically inflicts this upon Mob for a whopping six months. He comes ''dangerously'' close to breaking him and only fails due to Dimple's intervention.
* NightmareFace: Produces a pretty horrifying one when it’s first discovered that Minori is in fact possessed. Notable for simply projecting the horror as a shadow behind her rather than wearing it himself. In the mind world, as he becomes damaged and forced to use more of his power his appearance deteriorates over time, giving a more monstrous look.
* NightmareOfNormality: He puts Mob into a mental image of his neighborhood - only without his powers - where he's constantly beat up by images of people who knows. Keiji's plan being to drive Mob over the DespairEventHorizon to get him to want to kill once he gives his powers back. It's only thanks to Dimple managing to break into the mental world and stop Mob that saves him from the brink and puts him back on focus to save the girl. What's more during all of this, while 30 minutes pass in the real world, to Mob in the mental one ''six months had gone by''.
* ThePowerOfHate: He believes that the most troubled a person is and the more negative emotions they harbor the stronger the evil spirit they will produce upon death (if any). ''He's right'' and outright uses it as a part of his ThanatosGambit.
* ProfessionalKiller: Became one in an attempt to pay his mother's medical bills.
* PsychicPowers: He was an esper in life. Notable because he ''lacked'' the [[MindOverMatter telekinesis]] that is signature to espers in the series. He still had the classic energy barrier and the ability to see and exorcise spirits though. His own "unique" power was to lay curses on others. These could even be lethal, which later allowed him to become a hitman. As a spirit, he manages to grasp telekinesis, but of a slightly different type than that of an actual esper.
* PsychologicalTormentZone: Creates one inside of Minori's mind when Mob invades it, with the idea of turning him into a sympathizer of his twisted ideals.
* SatanicArchetype: Once among the most famous and powerful Espers, he eventually fell from grace and ended up becoming the most powerful evil spirit in existence. He is also in command of his own legion of the damned, composed of the thousands of evil spirits he absorbed. While inside Minori's body, Mogami tries to corrupt Mob into a self-centered Esper like himself or the Claw members.
* SealedEvilInACan: Eventually captured and named [[FluffyTheTerrible "Pudding-Chan"]] by Matsuo. He gets out much later during The World Domination Arc.
* SecondPersonNarration: He serves as this to Mob’s first-person while he traps him in the Mind World. It’s almost pure nightmare fuel.
* SignatureMove: The ability to lay curses was this for him while alive. As an evil spirit, he prefers a combination of MindRape and EnergyAbsorption.
* SoLastSeason: {{Averted}}. His brief appearance on the World Domination Arc shows that ''he is still as absolutely terrifying as last time''. He effortlessly kills a large esper squadron and barely bats an eye as he overpowers a member of the Super 5... each of whom were more or less as strong as ''Teru.''
* ThanatosGambit: Step 1: Consume the essence of evil spirits. Step 2: Commit suicide. Step 3: Become an evil spirit too powerful to be exorcised.
* VillainHasAPoint:
** Downplayed. He is not entirely wrong in saying that the world is fundamentally unfair, nor is he wrong in his assessment that, under different circumstances, Mob's life certainly '''could''' have gone down a much darker path. But ultimately, he's just horrifically petty and selfish -- far from actually helping Mob like he claims to, all he's doing is artificially making Mob's life terrible just so he can gain a powerful follower.
** Played straight in his second appearance, he tells Mob that sometimes it's important to be hard on people when kindness won't change them. Mob would use this lesson when fighting against [[GreaterScopeVillain Touichirou]].
* VillainRespect: In his second appearance, he spares Minegishi's life thanks to Mob vouching how it's important to have faith in people and their ability to change.
* VillainTakesAnInterest: While dismissive of the rest of humanity, he sees enough of his past self in Mob that he decides he'd like to "save" Mob from his naivety and turn him into a sympathizer instead of disposing of him.
* WakeUpCallBoss: The first opponent against whom Mob uses a completely positive 100%... as well as being the only one to actually ''overpower'' said 100%. Starting with him, major villains are now dramatically harder to defeat, always requiring more than simply going 100% and blasting said opponent to hell, basically because ''it's no longer enough.''
* WeirdnessMagnet: [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]], it was this exact quality of his that caused his mother to become sick, with her becoming an evil spirit and yelling at him about this after she died.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: After he's released again during the World Domination Arc, he disappears with his fate being left unknown.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He's consistently referred as the strongest evil spirit and has the feats to live up to it.
* {{Yakuza}}: In order to raise money, he acted as a mob hitman.
* YearInsideHourOutside: When he trapped Mob inside the illusion world created by him, Mob experiences 6 months worth of school mockery while Reigen and Dimple have been watching him for 30 minutes.

[[folder:Lord Psycho Helmet (Spoilers)]]
[[quoteright:268:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/imposter_0.png]]
[[caption-width-right:268:''[[{{Film/LittleShopOfHorrors}} He may offer you fortune and fame, Love and money and instant acclaim. But whatever he offers you, don't feed the plant.]]'']]

Originally a disguise taken by Dimple based off of a sketch made of Mob, Lord Psycho Helmet is, in reality, a sentience that had been developing inside the Divine Tree since the beginning of its existence, and was unleashed after Dimple relinquished control over its power.
----
* AGodAmI: Initially serves as Dimple's puppet by boasting his potential godhood to others. Eventually, he'd develop a mind of his own and believe himself to be a true god.
* ArcVillain: Of the Divine Tree Arc.
* BotanicalAbomination: How else do you describe a broccoli the size of a small mountain, born from an overwhelming release of psychic power and given sentience by [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve the prayers of countless followers]]?
* CostumeCopycat: He looks exactly like Mob only he's made of roots and has an uncanny valley appearance.
* GreenThumb: It can create roots and copies of itself made from the broccoli it was born from.
* HealingFactor: With the Divine Tree as his base, the Insidious Imposter can take on any attacks and regenerate itself with relative ease.
* HorrorHunger: Refers to Mob as nutrients in his first true appearance, and subsequently eats Dimple.
* HumanoidAbomination: It's an unnerving facsimile of Mob made out of broccoli roots.
* HungryMenace: It may be a plant with divine powers, but at the end of the day, it's still a plant, a simple organism with simple desires. After Dimple releases his hold on it, its only motivation seems to be to eat. The bad news is that its nourishment now includes '''people'''.
* MassHypnosis: He manages to take all of Seasoning City under his control by tricking them into eating nutrients from the Divine Tree. And as he demonstrates to Teruki, he can use his natural energy to control them directly.
* TheStarscream: Initially it was used by Dimple as a means of brainwashing the cityfolk. But after Dimple decides to give up his cult scheme, Lord Psycho Helmet decides to continue his work by taking over.
* YourMindMakesItReal: Born from the belief of the Psycho Helmet cult, and only grew stronger the more people that Dimple brainwashed into joining the cult.

->''Even though I can't exorcise a flasher, I can still bring you to justice!''

A psychic from a nearby city who is competing for the title of "rising star of the paranormal world" with Reigen. While initially antagonistic, the two become friends after being forced to work together on an assignment.
----
* AccidentalPervert: When questioning some girls about a flasher in a playground, his manner of questioning mixed with him grabbing hold of the girls made him come off as a creep.
* {{Acrofatic}}: [[DeconstructedTrope Deconstructed]]. While he is more athletic than his size indicates, his stamina isn't very high. Even when he's possessed by Dimple, he still wasn't in good shape.
* TheCameo: He appears in the ''Reigen'' manga spin-off where he gives Tome's high school teacher an amulet to protect him from a spirit.
* DudeInDistress: He's tasered and rendered unconscious by the red-coated flasher and would have been at the mercy of the Dragger if Dimple hadn't shown up to possess him.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: While still no Esper, he actually is more of a psychic than Reigen thanks to his blessed necklaces, which can entangle evil spirits. Taken even further when Dimple uses him as a host, giving him true Esper powers for the duration of the possession.
* FantasticallyIndifferent: While Touichirou is monologuing on TV, announcing Claw's goal to level Japan, in contrast to [[ThousandYardStare Shoudou]], Banshomaru continues watching and eating dinner unfazed.
* HeelFaceTurn: Happens almost ''instantly''. He goes from minor "antagonist" (word used lightly here) out to steal Reigen's assignment to a friendly rival of Reigen after Mob saves both of them from a Yokai.
* HiddenDepths: When he was in high school, he was part of the sumo wrestling team but later joined the table top tennis club.
* IconicItem: His over-sized beaded necklace.
* NotSoPhonyPsychic: While Reigen initially assumes he's as much of a fraud as himself, it turns out he does have some ability in exorcism.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: Quite skilled at his job, reasonably knowledgeable about magical phenomena, some nice magical items, is generally competent in a crisis... and his psychic abilities aren't even as strong as most of the more mundane psychics, let alone people like Mob.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Compared to the vengeful [[EvilOldFolks Kirin]] and the arrogant [[KnowNothingKnowItAll Dozen]], Banshomaru stands out as the only amicable member of the Sun Psychic Union.

->''I'd like to see Reigen's ability. Even if I try hard, it's not spectacular at all. We should let the whole nation witness how the next generation of psychics does it.''

A decrepit old man and the most senior psychic in the business, both literally and figuratively. He has formed the Sun Psychic Union as a way of both maximizing profits and maximizing his control over the business. Something of a TV star, he is one of the better-known psychics in the business. His actual abilities are unknown, though he appeared to display an unusual aura while performing an exorcism, hinting he may be an Esper.
----
* ArcVillain: Takes Reigen's mantle as the main antagonist during second half of the Separate Ways Arc.
* DisproportionateRetribution: He had Reigen exposed as a fraud just for getting knee'd in the stomach by him, even though it was to undo Mogami's possession (and defend himself).
* DudeInDistress: He's instantly possessed by Mogami and is used to attack the other psychics.
* EvilOldFolks: He shames and humiliates anyone who dares to go freelance, and even tried to do so to Reigen even though his only interaction with the fox man was the latter saving his life. And of course he's so old he would die if he was told to act his age.
* FakeUltimateHero: He's ''supposedly'' the strongest esper in the Sun Psychic Union, but he's unable to fight or defend himself against a dangerous spirit like Mogami nor do anything but cower when Touichirou rolls around trying to take over Japan with his organization.
* {{Gonk}}: His pudgy face is permanently stuck in a bizarre, wide-eyed grimace. He actually manages to unsettle Mob.
* JerkAss: He will try to ruin the lives of any psychics who try to go freelance, despite the fact they usually pose no threat to him.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: He got a good look at Reigen's face during the Minori Asagiri exorcism when Reigen saved his life. His repayment was to try to ruin Reigen's life for going freelance (and for hitting him to drive Mogami out of him).
* OhCrap: He gets two of these moments.
** The first time is when he's watching Reigen's public conference and is flabbergasted when the room suddenly shakes and many of the objects in it starts to float out of control; he was terrified at the possibility of Reigen having actual powers.
** The second time is when [[BigBad Touichirou]] broadcasts his declaration of world domination. The tomb-hopping relic can only cower in fear due to the foreboding presence of the tyrant king.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: He brings to mind [[GravityMaster Ishiguro]] given how they're both short, old psychic men who dress in black and have self-absorbed personalities.
----
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Dozen Roshuto]]
[[quoteright:349:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roshuuto.png]]

The self-proclaimed "strongest psychic of the solar system". He appears in the ''Reigen'' spinoff and becomes the titular psychic's rival.
----
* DirtyCoward: After being cursed during an exorcism mission, he initially planned to pass the curse onto Reigen. But to his relief, he ends up passing it to [[spoiler: Tome]] and doesn't feel much regret over it.
* EvilCounterpart: To Reigen. He's a suit wearing psychic with a fancy title, has his own apprentice and tends to use exaggerated expressions. (He even looks like Reigen with black hair). The differences are that he doesn't have Reigen's good heart and is willing to brush off his apprentice for the sake of business matters.
* KarmaHoudini: He faces no consequences for trying to pass a dangerous curse to [[spoiler:Tome and later Reigen]]. The heroes don't even mind that he still shows up in their office the day after.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Despite claiming to be a powerful psychic, he instantly falls for Reigen's lies about spiritual power levels.
* PowerfulAndHelpless: He proclaims to be a high ranking psychic with connections to influential figures and celebrities. [[spoiler: Neither his powers or connections are able to help him when he finds himself cursed]].
* TheRival: To Reigen, much to his annoyance.

A rich girl possessed by the ghost of a powerful Esper. Her father calls Spirits and Such to exorcise her.
----
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: A downplayed example, as she remains the Alpha Bitch bully who relentlessly tormented Mob for six months to elevate her social position. However, the anime still excised some of her more cruel actions toward Mob, painting her as a more typical school bully rather than the borderline sociopathic one she was in the manga.
* AlphaBitch: The most popular girl at her school, she bullies the weaker, less popular kids to remain on top.
* TheAtoner: After going through a MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment, she resolves to stop her bullying ways and become a better person.
* CreepyChild: As Mogami's host, she speaks in a chillingly calm voice and gives a creepy ThousandYardStare. She's not much more pleasant without being possessed either.
* DemonicPossession: By Mogami.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When she sees how she's perceived through Mob's time in Mogami's private world, her first act upon awakening is to tearfully beg Mob for forgiveness as she resolves to be a better person.
* NotBrainwashed: Despite being one of Mogami's victims, she willingly bullies and terrorizes Mob while he's held prisoner in Mogami's Nightmare World. Even after they wake up, Minori confirms that she's always been like that.
* PowersViaPossession: Mogami's possession seemingly enhances her strength, as besides channelling his telekinesis, she's strong enough to hurl a grown man into the ceiling and beat up a group of professional exorcists with some wicked martial arts moves.
* RichBitch: Her normal personality. It continues into her fantasy world, where she belittles and mocks Mob.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: She appears to develop a crush on Mob and desires to see him again after he saves her from Mogami, forgives her for her actions and her father reveals to her that Mob didn't demand any reward.

A compassionate woman who was once married to Touichirou before he began his conquest for world domination and is also Shou's mother.
----
* GoodParents: She genuinely loves her son and hoped that he would grow up to be a gentle boy. Even in the present, Shou confirms that he regularly sees her even while dealing with his dad's nefarious schemes.
* KindheartedCatLover: Her very first scene has her tending to a stray cat, showcasing her love for others.
* MoralityPet: Double subverted. Despite being married to her, Touichirou still planned out his dream of world domination regardless of what she thought or who he would exploit along the way. But it isn't until he realizes [[MyGreatestFailure his mistake of driving her away]] along with Mob giving him a second chance to reconcile with her does he start to take baby steps in letting go of his old ways.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Realizing that her husband only sees people as inferior beings to manipulate and abuse, she decides to cut ties with him.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: She only has one scene in the entire series but it's through her leaving Touichirou do we see a glimpse of his humanity and how he too longed for connections with other people.
* TurnOutLikeHisFather: In an Omake, Shou dreamed of a time when he used his psychic powers only for his mother to break down in tears.
* UselessBystanderParent: PlayedWith. On one hand, she had zero involvement in keeping her son safe from intermingling with his father's sinister plots nor did she try to protect him when he directly confronted him. That said, [[{{Muggle}} there's no mention of her having esper abilities]] to offer any support so she could have become a casualty with her involvement. It can also be inferred that Shou wouldn't want his mother to be hurt while battling his father.
* WhatDoesSheSeeInHim: It's anyone's guess as to how she fell in love with an arrogant madman with a god complex. But whatever it was, it didn't last when she realized his true colors.

A group of aliens that reveal themselves to Mob, Reigen, and the Telepathy Club after the latter attempt to contact extraterrestrials.
----
* TheGreys: Resemble your stereotypical grey aliens save for having pink-ish skin and their large buggy eyes being replaced by shoujo style eyes.
* InnocentAliens:
** They eagerly welcome the humans into their ship and offer hospitality throughout their visit. They even take joy in the gifts the Telepathy Club and Reigen offer them afterwards.
** [[spoiler:When Mameta ends up being taken by them to their home planet, it turns out that despite their advanced technology they don't exactly have weapons. To the point that the only thing they can do is just run against one of their "natural predators", which is actually just a small ball of fur with spindly legs that Mameta "defeats" by just ''standing in its way'']].
* {{Irony}}: Turns out the Telepathy club's habit of slacking off, gaming and snacking in the club room isn't too far off from the alien's own lifestyle. Which ends up with them feeling right at home when the aliens let them into their spacecraft.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Their faces look like a professionally done Shoujo manga, though the rest of their design matches up with ONE's art.
* {{Shoujo}}: Their faces resemble characters of this genre, and they both wear school uniforms and have a cozy school clubroom table in their UFO.
* WhatBeautifulEyes: Their large shoujo-style eyes are described as "a lovely gaze."

A self-professed [[{{Youkai}} yōkai]] hunter who drops in at Spirits and Such one day. He seeks help in taking down an association of yōkai before they revive their King and drain humans of their life energy.
----
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: All his ramblings of the demon world and his mission to slay them have some merit as he does find the legendary Yōkai King and his Four Generals.
* JustAKid: Amakusa's first impression of Mob. Reigen assures him that the unassuming teenager is quite capable of handling himself against whatever may come their way.
* MeaninglessMeaningfulWords: He speaks in a ''flood'' of obscure references, antiquated syntax and off-kilter pauses. Reigen, normally patient with potential clients, finds Amakusa mostly unintelligible ''and'' frustrating enough to set off his RageBreakingPoint. Serizawa is only able to pick up on the references due to his [[{{Hikikomori}} hikikomori]] past: they happen to be locations and events from ''recently'' popular [[MassivelyMultiplayerOnlineRolePlayingGame MMORPGs]].
* RummageSaleReject: The man's weird getup--a mix of martial-arts attire, ancient Japanese hairstyle (mizura), arm bracers and a katana--screams either '[[{{LARP}} LARPing]]' or 'gibbering mad'. Or perhaps both.
* ShrinkingViolet: Despite his robust personality, he has tremendous difficulty presenting himself in front of Reigen and Serizawa during their first meeting.
* TalkativeLoon: The yōkai hunter talks incessantly about his mission, and waits around for Reigen to finish up with clients before showering him with... even more talk.
** Downplayed, as Amakusa happens to be ''right''.
* UpperClassTwit: He comes from a wealthy family and his parents give him a million yen allowance to "support" his yōkai hunting mission.

[[folder:???% (Spoilers)]]
!!Mob's ???% Form
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mob_7.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''I knew that I would be needed after all.'']]

Each of Mob's explosions have him still in control, at least somewhat. ???% is an exception to this rule. This form activates when Mob goes unconscious in moments of extreme danger, causing his powers to automatically activate themselves in an attempt to protect Mob's body.

Immensely powerful but completely out of control, ???% is a DangerousForbiddenTechnique that allows Mob to turn any fight into a CurbStompBattle at a major cost. ???% will attack everyone and ''anyone'' he deems as a threat to Mob's well-being with extreme prejudice, often going against Mob's wishes for a peaceful resolution to fights.

The "???%" arc reveals that he is possibly a SplitPersonality that acts out Mob's best wishes the only way he knows how... through extreme violence. Many characters also theorize he may, in fact, be an entity entirely separate from Mob himself, which is seemingly confirmed when he takes control of Mob during Chapter 100 and identifies himself as a separate identity--that of the "original" Shigeo Kageyama.
----
* AdorableAbomination: No amount of unfathomable power, ominous shadows, or GlowingEyesOfDoom can change the fact that ???% is a tiny, baby-faced middle-schooler.
* ArcVillain: He takes this role during the titular ???% Arc.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: In the ???% arc, Ritsu is the only character able to confront ???% and come out unscathed. Why? Because Ritsu acknowledged ???% as Shigeo.
* CainAndAbel: ???% doesn't even trust ''Ritsu'', and accidentally injuring him was what caused Mob to pretty much give up their powers. ???% seems to think little of it, instead focusing on how their relationship with Tsubomi changed how Mob viewed their power.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: A unique example insofar as that Mob must be unconscious in order for it to activate. He also hates using it, and seems to be traumatized by the fact that he accidentally used it on Ritsu, hurting him.
* DidntSeeThatComing: He's very convinced of his belief that everyone in Mob's life is bad for him. He sees all of Mob's friends as leeches, and views Mob's suppression of his powers to keep them safe as limiting to his own freedom. When Reigen admits he's a fraud to Mob, ???% is visibly stunned, as Reigen is visibly humiliating himself for Mob's wellbeing.
* EnemyWithin: Mob used to be much livelier as a child until his accident convinced him to suppress his emotions and powers. All of that became ???%, and he's tired of being locked up.
* FightingYourFriend: ???% has no qualms about fighting, and even hurting, Mob's friends if they stand in his way.
* FinalBoss: He's the last, and most dangerous, antagonist of the overall storyline.
* FullyEmbracedFiend: Not only does he know he's a violent monster, he demands to be accepted as one and seeks to tear down "Mob" for denying his existence while still making use of his power.
* HeroicSafeMode: Only activates when Mob is out of commission, and acts to protect his body without regard for any harm or destruction caused.
* IJustWantToBeFree: ???% wants to let his power run wild even if it wrecks the world and hopes Tsubomi can still treat him as a normal person despite that.
* InsistentTerminology: He refuses to call Mob and Reigen by name; in the original Japanese, he refers to Reigen as あの人 (''ano hito'', "that person" or "that man"). ???% insists ''he's'' the real Shigeo, and "Mob" is nothing more than an alter ego.
* PentUpPowerPeril: He's the direct result of the EmotionSuppression Mob used to keep his powers in check and the ultimate example of why RepressionNeverEndsWell.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Flat-out ''the'' strongest esper in the world by an incredible margin. Unrestrained, he demolishes the city as a side effect of simply walking through it.
* SilentAntagonist: It's a bit surprising to see ???% [[SuddenlyVoiced talking]] when he finally takes over Mob's body completely, but there was a previous instance--when Dimple tries to assure Mob that the corpses of his family he found are constructs, a barely-in-control Mob (his Explosion Counter is depicted as a smudge) growls that he's lying. The anime makes it explicit that this is ???% speaking with a hateful, much rougher tone of voice.
* SplitPersonality: ???% is essentially Mob's body on autopilot, having none of the mercy or NiceGuy nature of the normal Mob. Chapter 100 reveals that ???% is a manifestation of Mob's deepest desires that acts as the source of his power. He greatly resents Mob for shunning his own powers despite them saving him time and time again and Reigen for exploiting them.
* SuperPoweredEvilSide: Easily the strongest of the Explosions, largely in part due to his complete lack of mercy or restraint.
* VillainHasAPoint:
** ???% is tired of Mob treating his powers like a taboo even though, more often than not, they were the only way to save themselves and others from harm.
** He also argues that Mob attempting to reject his own powers when Tsubomi wouldn't pay attention to him was a mistake because all her attitude meant was that she could treat him as a normal person when no one else would.
** Lastly, he recognizes that Reigen--the man who taught him that he was more than the sum of his powers--only took interest in him ''because of them'' and is ''still'' lying to and exploiting him.
* WalkingSpoiler: Very little about ???% is revealed up until Chapter 100, where he becomes the ArcVillain and terrorizes Seasoning City, requiring the help of everyone, psychic or not, to take him down.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: His only desire is to protect himself, but he will go to any lengths to make this happen. In Chapter 100, he nearly destroys Seasoning City in an attempt to ''make sure that Mob's, or rather, his own LoveConfession goes smoothly''.
----
