-->''"...still wanna fight?"''

-> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/KanakoKondo (Japanese) [=/=] Creator/CristinaValenzuela, Creator/LauraBailey ([=CS2=], Arcade Mode) (English, ''Calamity Trigger''-''Chronophantasma'')

-> A hapless Lieutenant in the NOL serving under Jin Kisaragi. She trained at the academy along with Jin, Tsubaki Yayoi, Makoto Nanaya, and Carl Clover. When Jin rushes off to hunt down Ragna without permission, Noel is assigned to stop him and bring him back to The Library. The guns she wields are the Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk, and are also a Nox Nyctores. She suffers from amnesia; over the course of the games, she discovers who she truly is, and the truth has changed her life ever since.

%%-> The Material Collection reveals that she was a war orphan adopted by the noble Vermillion family. When the Vermillion family were at risk from losing their status, Noel made the decision to join the NOL in exchange for ensuring the future of her ailing father and mother. The one condition imposed by her parents was that she had to apply for non-combatant work, but after breaking all existing records for ars magus aptitude (the most important condition for Academy admittance) she was placed into a combatant program against her will. Despite her average grades, after graduation she was placed as secretary to the newly promoted "Hero of Ikaruga", although her actual job is to spy on Jin and kill him if necessary.

%%-> Throughout the story of ''Calamity Trigger'', it is revealed that Noel is the "Eye of the Azure". She is actually the Murakumo unit Mu -12-, whose memories had been lost due to the attack on Ibukido by the NOL's Nox Nyctores Take-Mikazuchi. Noel is special because she has managed to inherit the powers of the Boundary, and is the only one who can locate the Master Sankishin Unit: Amaterasu. In the end, it is revealed that the entire story of ''Calamity Trigger'' revolves around her existence. Or, rather, it hinges on her not dying during a specific time loop so that Terumi can use her to acknowledge his existence and awaken her power, which happens in the True Ending.

%%-> In ''Continuum Shift'', she goes to visit Jin in the hospital, but finds that he's gone AWOL and decides to pursue him. She's unaware that her old friend Tsubaki has been given orders by Terumi to assassinate her. Canonically, after defeating Tsubaki, she finds out that Hazama is behind her order of assassination, and remembers his true self as revealed in ''Calamity Trigger''. When Noel confronts Hazama, her efforts in fighting him prove to be pointless, and Hazama shatters her emotional stability by showing her the horrors that the Black Beast inflicted upon humanity. Desperately pleading for him to stop confirming her doubts that she isn't human, Hazama cruelly tells her how the Murakumos are related to the Black Beast. This single act pushes her over the edge, and ends up destroying her Nox Nyctores, which were designed as limiters to prevent her from reverting to her original state. With Bolverk gone, Noel is successfully tempered into becoming Mu -12-. She is eventually restored to her original state by Ragna, and is last seen headed with Tager and Makoto to a safe haven designated by Kokonoe. Unbeknownst to them, Hazama already knows of this and has sent Tsubaki to follow them.

%%-> In ''[[VideoGame/BlazBlueChronoPhantasma Chronophantasma]]'', she has a completely new outfit which discards her recognizable beret. [[spoiler: She eventually allows herself to be transformed back into Mu -12- by Rachel in order to save Tsubaki.]]

-> Her arcade playthroughs are named, in order of the game: ''Sleeping Beauty'', ''The Pain'' and ''accept one's portion''. Her story playthroughs are named, in the first 2 games: ''Lost child'' and ''Desperation''.

-> Her drive ability, '''Chain Revolver''', lets her perform a multitude of chain combos with her guns. Her Overdrive is '''Chain Quasar''', which increases the speed of her Drive attacks.

-> In the fourth game, her Exceed Accel '''Zero-Gun: Sleipnir''' has her stun her opponent with a poke of her gun, then fires a Thor missile at them that launches her foe away. Then she transforms her gun into a [[{{BFG}} giant]] [[MagneticWeapons railgun]] and fires a shot at the faraway opponent. If done in Active Flow, she does the Chamber Shot and Fenrir before the Thor missile, which leads to the railgun as well. Her Astral Finish, '''Valkyrie Veil''', has her creating a magical seal around her opponent and shooting them repeatedly with her guns. She then detonates the seal from within by clashing the butts of the guns together. In CP, however, it is now a CounterAttack, and the animations where she shoots the opponent are done in an anime-style sequence as she creates a different seal from her old one. Otherwise, it is the same as before.

* AccidentalTruth: In ch. 10 of Remix Heart, when she and her group are separated from Mai, Noel says that they may find her again in the place where the Azure is. Later on, in ch. 11, they do find Mai in the place where the Azure is, although all of the parties involved have no idea that the Azure is so close to them until the next chapter.
* AchillesHeel: Unfortunately, the Bolverk is Noel’s only mean of offense, becoming utterly helpless when stripped of it.
* ActionGirl: Noel is a nimble solider who fights with the Nox Nyctores' Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk. Additionally, after Noel was smelted into a cauldron by the hands of Yuuki Terumi, Noel is able to assume her true form, Mu-12. She originally had no control over this form, as her emotions put her in a mundane state with only the desire to destroy. However, with the help of Rachel Alucard, Noel was able to master this form, and enter it with her emotions intact.

* ACupAngst: '''''BIG. TIME.''''' It doesn't help her self-esteem that she's mistaken for a boy... and a ''cutting board.''
** Two of her soundbytes in the Gallery of CT are "Don't talk about my breasts!" in differing tones.
** She's pretty much irritated when Taokaka calls her [[EmbarrassingNickname "Lacking Lady".]]
** And it's getting to be a RunningGag for her in ''Continuum Shift'', where it even comes to a point where she accidentally admits it herself in her victory speech against Taokaka in Arcade Mode:
--> "Ack! Hey! There's nothing there! Ohhh, I admitted it... "
** In Chronophantasma she switches to [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Murakumo personality]] & threatens to kill Amane for mistaking her as a crossdresser.
** She also got struck with this a few times in ''Manga/BlazblueRemixHeart'', such as when she tried to fit one of Miss Emma's bras. Made funnier later when Miss Emma suspected something weird when she sees Noel suddenly having large breasts. It isn't played as often as you'd expect it to be, though, considering she's basically surrounded by big breasts...
* AffectionateNickname: Makoto calls her "Noellers" ("Noerun" in Japanese version) as a sign of closeness.
* AintTooProudToBeg: In her UpCloseWithTheMonster moment in one of the bad endings in ''Calamity Trigger'', Bolverk gets destroyed and Noel starts to tremble in fear. When the Black Beast starts to attack her, she begs for it to stop and begs for someone to help her.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Subverted. She's crushing on Ragna, who's basically a criminal from the world's point of view; but she's attracted to him not because of his negative attributes or his bad reputation, but because of [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan his hidden kindness and determination.]]
* AllLovingHeroine: Noel is extremely sweet and compassionate to others and tries to avoid fighting at all costs. She shows a immense ammount of UndyingLoyalty to her HeterosexualLifePartners, Tsubaki and Makoto, and tries to act friendly even to [[{{Jerkass}} Jin Kisaragi]], even after all the abuse he put her through, Noel still tries her best to care for him and she refuses to hurt him even when attacked by him. In general, Noel shows compassion and caring even to complete strangers, such as when she found a defeated Bang and attempted to tend to his wounds, or to people seen as dangerous, like when she saved Ragna from being taken by Nu.
* AmericanKirbyIsHardcore: Or in this case, European Noel is Hardcore. The European cover of ''Calamity Trigger'' shows Noel doing a pretty badass PistolPose with a dark brown background contrasting other covers' use of blue. The result makes it look more like a shooting game.
* AngerBornOfWorry: In the [[MultipleEndings True Ending]] for ''VideoGame/BlazBlueCalamityTrigger'', Noel [[spoiler:manages to save Ragna from a long fall into the Cauldron and a horrible fate as the Black Beast. As soon as she manages to haul him out of the Cauldron, she]] begins screaming at Ragna about how scared she was that he was going to die, repeatedly calling him stupid and punching his chest. It actually manages to get through the [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold stoic attitude]] he tries to wear fairly quickly.
** Noel does it again in the True Ending of ''Continuum Shift'' after Ragna [[spoiler:frees her from Terumi's brainwashing and loses his arm in the process]].
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling:
** [[spoiler:Jin absolutely ''despised'' her back in the Academy days, due to her resemblance to Saya, and all of Noel's attempts to be friendly to him only served to make him hate her more, not that it stopped Noel from trying more though.]]
** [[spoiler:While not as bad as Jin, Noel's [[ShrinkingViolet personality]] also greatly annoyed Ragna at first. Best shown after the two managed to leave the collapsed interior of the NOL branch, after being constantly slowed down by Noel's slow movements and repeated clumsiness, Ragna finally snaps and abashes her, which caused her to eventually leave, stating that they'll be enemies next time they meet. This is averted after his CharacterDevelopment where Ragna develops a major BigBrotherInstinct towards Noel.]]
** [[spoiler:This is inverted with her younger sister Juusan (i.e Nu), who considers her too noisy and persistant about everything, but this is still downplayed compared with Ragna and Jin since Juusan at worst only grumbles about how clingy Noel and the various versions of her are.]]
* ApologisesALot: Especially when she first meets Tsubaki, the latter has to tell her to stop apologizing so much...only for her to apologize again.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: In the bonus story in ''CS'', ''Heart to Heart'', she delivers one to Makoto when she brought up the topic of beastkin.
-->'''Makoto:''' I'm completely different from you guys.\
'''Noel:''' What's so different about you?\
'''Makoto:''' Different? Uh... The difference... *beat* ...I'm not... *begins crying* I'm not different from anyone else! I'M NOT! I wanna be the same! I just wanted to be the same...
* TheArtifact: Not Noel herself but one of her battle grunts. In ''Continuum Shift'', she'll still call out "Barrier Burst" when she break-burst, despite the burst system being changed to a new mechanic that doesn't have anything to do with the barrier mechanic. That only happens with her English voice (because her battle grunts in English are reused from the first game) while the Japanese version has new voices.
* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:She is the 12th Prime Field Device developed by Relius Clover. She's technically only five years old.]]
* AttackAttackAttack: Specializes in close ranged pressure assaults with her Drive; fortunately she can also spice it up with high/low mixups.
* AwfulTruth: ''Continuum Shift'' centers the development and {{deconstruction}} of Noel around this trope. During her encounter with [[BigBad Terumi]] in ''Desperation'', Noel goes berserk after realizing he used and tormented Tsubaki, voluntarily lifting the seal on Bolverk with the intention of obliterating him. [[spoiler:After feeding off her hatred and pushing her to her limit, Terumi feeds her the history of the Prime Field Devices in graphic detail - up to and including that [[TomatoInTheMirror she is one of them]]. The relentless input is too much for her to bear, and she promptly breaks down, left prone for tempering into Mu-12.]]
* BadassAdorable: She's a pretty amazing gunslinger and member of the praetorian guard, but still gushes at the sight of pandas...and Makoto's tail. [[spoiler: Plus she's a god slayer in Murakumo persona.]]
* BadassCreed: Shared with Jin, Hazama, Tsubaki and Makoto in CS. [[spoiler: As of ''Chronophantasma'', she, along with Jin and Makoto, no longer recite the creed during battle intros with the other NOL personnel, having defected after the events of ''Continuum Shift.'']]
-->''"Dispatched in mankind's darkest hour, we are Knights of the Blue Flame!"''
* BadassFamily: [[spoiler: With Ragna and Jin. While the family is kind of screwed up, Ragna, Jin and Noel are a family. The Grim Reaper, the Hero of Ikaruga and the Eye of the Azure are siblings. Several openings, namely the Chronophantasma Extend opening, show them fighting together.]]
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: Her outfit from ''Chronophantasma'' onward, combined with SexyBacklessOutfit.
* BerserkButton: The term Lacking Lady, by Taokaka, directed at Noel, is one thing she can’t seem to stand, though being called a boy or a man is worse. Each sets off a domino effect. The first makes her feel vulnerable and then ponder her role as a woman as she looks to other woman with bigger breasts. The second triggers a dormant volcano of emotion that is then directed at the person who makes the remark. When she is finally angry, she puts aside all shame and forlorn and builds up the confidence to abuse her title of position to call it, “Obstruction of Justice!”.
** When Bang and Amane both pointed this out, she immediately starts speaking in MachineMonotone[[labelnote:spoiler]]since she's a Prime Field Device[[/labelnote]] and goes about "eliminating" her target.
* BettyAndVeronica: She's the Betty to Rachel's Veronica and Ragna's Archie. Ragna feels more "at home" with her due to how Noel resembled and sounds like his long missing sister, and while she's clumsy and irritates him a lot, she's also a good, innocent girl at heart. [[spoiler: In the end, Ragna and Noel end up as just PlatonicLifePartners with a LikeBrotherAndSister bond, especially after Noel finally becomes Saya and actively refers to Ragna as her brother in ''CF''.]]
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Noel is one of the sweetest characters in the series and a NiceGirl through and through...But if you push her hard enough, then she ''will'' make you regret it. A good example was after she was verbally abused by Bang several times, they fought and Bang fell to her power.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: Noel's ShrinkingViolet personality means that she doesn't talk much and is very shy, but she's by no means weak.
* {{BFG}}: She can morph her guns into this in her stronger moves. She can have a gatling gun or a bazooka.
* BigBrotherAttraction: [[spoiler: Just like other Murakumo Units, she carries Saya's soul, who has some attraction towards her big brother Ragna and thus Noel is affected too. Noel has a large part of Saya's soul, so she has her memories of Ragna as well.]]
* BigNo: She drops these a lot, like in her winquote against Arakune because of her fear of bugs, and when Nirvana destroys her marriage registration in Rachel's CS joke ending. She also does this in ''Remix Heart Gaiden'' ch. 2 where she realizes that she and her group are trapped in the empty building.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: [[spoiler:Sorta. The actual Vermillions barely feature in the games (Noel's too busy dealing with ''constant apocalypses'' to interact with her adoptive folks much), but she's the arguable sister-by-cloning of both Ragna and Jin, which is why the former has complex feelings for her and the latter subconsciously ''hates her guts'', and due to the same circumstances considers herself the much more direct sister of both Lambda and Nu, the former of whom she wants to help find her own way and humanity and the latter of which she has an '''extraordinarily''' complicated relationship with.]]
* BlueIsHeroic: "Child of the Azure", natch. She's innocent, sweet and always tries to be kind. [[spoiler:Mu-12, however, was a completely different story - up until Noel gains control of that form.]]
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: An effect for some of her gun moves for her opponent, notably the Chamber Shot, done with a ShortRangeShotgun.
* BoobsAndButtPose: [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/blazblue/images/7/7b/Noel_Vermillion_%28Continuum_Shift%2C_Character_Select_Artwork%29.png/revision/latest?cb=20170526103027 Her character art in ''Continuum Shift''.]]
* BreakTheCutie: BIG TIME. Keyword: Hazama. In CS, [[spoiler:When she finally meets with Hazama, he tells Noel her true origins and nature, calling her a puppet and inhuman. This causes her emotions to run wild, in turn causing Bolverk to go haywire and allowing Hazama the opportunity smelt her in the Kiln. She descends as Mu-12, full of hate for the world, and is ordered by Hazama to destroy the Master Unit Amaterasu. She manages to fight off both Hakumen and Jin before Ragna arrives and breaks her free of her current mindset by waking her consciousness, though in the process, Ragna’s left arm is destroyed.]]
* BrotherSisterIncest: [[spoiler:For the same reason as BigBrotherAttraction, again something shared with all Murakumo units.]]
* ButNotTooForeign: As shown in ''CF'', [[spoiler:she, Ragna, and Jin are the children of the 5th Prime Field Device, who is implied to be based off of Saya Terumi, who is Japanese. This also applies to Lambda-11, Mu-12, and Nu-13]].
* ButtMonkey: She's the butt of a lot of jokes, most of which coming from Jin's abuse, but in her story she also gets weirded out by people. None of which help her self-esteem.
* CharacterDevelopment: Rounding out the main trio, Noel too has grown as the series progresses. Despite her excellent Ars Magus ratings and being stationed in a high position within the NOL, Noel had very low self-esteem due to lack of knowledge about her past [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and her chest size.]] After she learns the truth about her past and nearly destroying the world itself as a result of her angst, she realizes that it doesn't matter who she is or where she came from and that her feelings are her own, which make her as much "human" as anybody else and ultimately accepts her SuperpoweredEvilSide as a part of her as well. This goes a long way in helping her rescue her friend Tsubaki when she needed it. The whole experience also makes her a lot more confident. [[spoiler:Effects of this include wanting to give her "sister" Lambda the same opportunities for humanity that she had, and being absolutely determined to free Ragna from the Embryo, and later his overall dark destiny.]]
* {{Chickification}}: [[spoiler:Come ''CF's'' true end, she's resorted to a nun living in a missionary with her two "sisters" Lambda and Nu, who were also both [[ActionGirl Action Girls]]. Compare with her friends Tsubaki and Makoto who are still in action. May be justified in that Noel's placement in NOL's military division was the only way to provide for her family, otherwise she is very pacifistic and prefers staying out of combat.]]
* ChildLikeVoice: Her timid and kind disposition is matched by a fairly high voice. It also helps that she's six years old, making this rather literal.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Mostly confined to the realms of the gag reels but it's there. Notably in that she gets really worked up over [[SpotlightStealingSquad Celica]] potentially replacing her as the main heroine, and she gets a tad too worried when Celica showcases her frank feelings for Ragna.
* ClonesArePeopleToo: She's the most human of the Murakumos, and is treated as a normal person by almost the entire cast save the villains [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg and]] [[GoodIsNotNice Hakumen.]] She takes this stance herself, treating Lambda (an inferior clone) like a little sister.
* CloneAngst: She's one of three clones of Saya, Ragna & Jin's little sister and the one that resembles her the most, in both looks and personality. Naturally this causes one hell of a FreakOut from her when she finds out, but she gets over her angst when she learns ClonesArePeopleToo.
* CloseRangeCombatant: She has even less range to work with than Ragna, so up close and personal is pretty much the only way to play her. Ironically, she does so with ''a pair of guns.''
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: In her ''Help Me, Professor Kokonoe'' segment:
-->'''Kokonoe:''' Well, it chafes my ass to say it, but [Jubei]'s really kind of an ultimate being... he's pretty damn amazing. I hate his guts, but... Anyways, so long as you listen to him, you'll be OK. Like I said, I hate him myself, but... if he tells you to go after Jin, you go after Jin and don't screw around, alright? Still, I hate the son of a bitch... \
'''Noel:''' So, basically you mean... \
'''Kokonoe:''' (''irritated'') You haven't heard a word I've said, have you? \
'''Noel:''' T-That's not true! I was listening! So, basically... I mean, to sum it up, you really, really don't like Mr. Jubei much, right?
** To be fair, Kokonoe does mention that she hates him 3 times, and Noel also pointed that out.
* CompressedHair: Her long hair is usually kept up in a beret, somehow. As mentioned elsewhere, this is an easy trick to do with braids, but her victory poses show a single pin keeping it bundled under there somehow.
* CovertPervert: [[ItMakesSenseInContext There's a scene wherein she (for a split second) contemplates second base because she heard from Makoto that her chest would be bigger if a dude massages them, but got flustered at the thought.]]
** Additionally, in the Drama CD, she is more savvy about sexual relationships than Jin. [[YoungerThanTheyLook Note that she is way younger than him.]] Then again, she hung around Makoto a lot...
* CoolBigSis: Acts as one to Lambda in her arcade mode in ''CP'', helping her be herself and accept who she is and wanting to help her remember who she is. She even refers to them as sisters at the end of it.
-->'''Noel:''' Still too soon...Listen to me. If you want to be yourself, then you need to accept who you are.
-->'''Lambda:''' A-Accept...? I...
-->'''Noel:''' Don't worry, you don't have to rush. I'm sure you'll figure it out. Usually I don't feel like fighting is a good way to help people, but for you...
* CostumeEvolution: Starting in the third game, Noel ditches her NOL army uniform (back-baring minidress with detached sleeves and a beret) for a more casual one (a back and midriff-baring tanktop under a capelet, hair freely down with hairpins, gun holsters on her back). Though her old outfit is still available as DLC.
* CreepyBlueEyes: Especially in contrast to the red eyes of Nu-13 (who was an EmotionlessGirl but became a {{Yandere}} if Ragna was about) and the hidden eyes of their predecessor, Lambda-11 (who was treated as an EmptyShell), but most of all, compared to [[spoiler:Noel's green eyes, until she was MindRaped and forcefully converted (or finished being built by some arguments) into Mu-12.]]
* CreepyMonotone: When she meets Nu in ''CT'', she inexplicably goes into a robot-like state and starts saying things in monotone. [[spoiler:''CS'' explains that this is because she's Mu-12 and that she and Nu shares similar origins.]] In her ''CF'' arcade she goes like this again, only to snap out of it after beating Nu and become confused over what she was saying.
* CrucifiedHeroShot: She's shown in this position if caught in [[MadScientist Relius Clover's]] Astral Finish (For worse, [[ShamefulStrip she's nude]]).
* CryIntoChest: In the ending of ''Central Fiction'', [[spoiler:along with Jin, as Ragna hugs both before he erases himself from existence]].
* CuteClumsyGirl: Noel would always trip on the red ribbons on her NOL uniform, but she will never confess how many times she has tripped because of them.
* CuteIndignantGirlStance: In one Gag Reel of ''Chronophantasma'' where Ragna gets the Spectacles of Eros plastered onto him, when Noel sees Ragna act awkwardly when Celica says she likes Ragna (when he would deny other girls' confessions), Noel strikes this pose while being angry at Ragna (although we only see her hips and her right hand, visibly stretched down and angled sideways).
* CutenessProximity: In her Calamity Trigger joke ending, [[spoiler:she responds to a [[LadyDrunk very drunk Litchi]]'s pet miniature panda with rapt attention. In fact, she allows Litchi [[CosplayOtakuGirl to dress her up]] if she let's her pet the panda. She completely zones out while she's petting it. "Ooookaaay..."]]
** In ''CS'' Arcade mode, she expresses glee at the possibility of fondling Makoto's tail; in ''CP'', she goes right to it.
---> *excessive tail fondling* ''"Oh, I'm in heaven...!"''
* TheCutie: Noel's a cute, sweet young woman that get's easily flustered and has an interest in cute animals. Noel is also obsessed with the panda Lao Jiu because of its adorable appearance. Noel also writes her own poems about finding true love.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:D - L]]
* DamselInDistress: Due to her role in the plot this happens twice.
** The first in ''CS'' where she gets trolled and manipulated by Terumi, causing her to turn into Mu-12 for the first time; Ragna saves her.
** The second in ''CF'' where [[spoiler:Susanoo kidnaps her and fuses with her to try to open the Azure Gate with her Godslayer powers. Ragna saves her again after beating Terumi for the final time.]]
* DeadAlternateCounterpart: [[spoiler:In many earlier iterations of the time loop, she (that is, as Mu) usually died by virtue of Take-mikazuchi's attack on Ibukido. Some loops later, however, she survived; it continues until the loop in the present. In ''CS'', Makoto's story is about finding this fact out, with her jumping to a timeline where Noel doesn't exist.]]
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Noel has been accused of being a CreatorsPet due to all her powers and the fetishes involved in her design... but actually, all these qualities put her in positions that the poor girl is ''very'' clearly unfit to handle, her social interactions have suffered quite a bit (ie., [[spoiler:being Jin's sort-of sister was something that Hazama used to manipulate her close friend Tsubaki Yayoi, [[ClingyJealousGirl who's obsessively in love with Jin]], into a FaceHeelTurn]]) while her powers remain unknown to her and get exploited by others for their own gain. (Not to mention how despite being very pretty, she still has low self-esteem [[ACupAngst and a fixation on what she lacks]] rather than [[MoeMoe what she already possesses]]). Noel's character has also had little chance to develop [[UnwittingPawn due to constant manipulation]], resulting in her being a super shy ShrinkingViolet with no small amount of emotional baggage [[BreakTheCutie and no small amount of traumatic things experienced]]. [[spoiler:However, closing her "Eye of the Azure" might have lead to the possibility of [[CharacterDevelopment her becoming mentally/emotionally stronger]] - and if a month with her other best bud [[PluckyGirl Makoto]] is any indication, [[EarnYourHappyEnding things are looking up for her]].]]
* DidNotGetTheGuy: [[spoiler:Because the guy in question is now gone, and was her brother anyways]].
* DitzySecretary: She is this for Major Jin Kisaragi. Played with in that while she has low self-esteem and is quite clumsy and not very bright, during fight she can be cold and effective. This is because her weapon, the twin guns Bolverk is a magical weapon that keeps her state of mind in check.
* DoesntKnowTheirOwnBirthday: A variant. Noel was told by her foster-parents that her birthday was December 25, and that's where her name comes from. [[spoiler:She was actually [[ArtificialHuman smelted]] on January 7th. The other birthday was implanted, along with all memories of her childhood, to disguise her age even from herself. The games imply her friends continue to celebrate her birthday on Christmas because that's ''Noel's'' birthday and ClonesArePeopleToo.]]
* DontLookAtMe: In ''VideoGame/BlazBlueChronoPhantasma'', when Noel faces off against Ragna [[spoiler:in the form of [[{{Stripperific}} Mu-12]]]] she yells at him not to stare at her. He insists that he's not.
* DownloadableContent: Her classic NOL costume is a downloadable costume to her in ''Chronophantasma'' and ''Central Fiction''. Aside of looking different, Classic Noel has access to her old and new Astral Heat.
* DumbBlonde: Combines this with HairOfGoldHeartOfGold and, strangely enough, FieryRedhead. While she's the most emotional of the Three Stooges of Torifune, she has to study extra hard to keep pace with her friends, and even then she tends to run on her impulses instead of thinking things completely through. Needless to say, this causes problems, and [[{{Jerkass}} Jin]] [[BadBoss Kisaragi]] doesn't help at all. But let's be fair to Noel; [[spoiler: [[YoungerThanTheyLook she's only five]] ]]. In ''CP'', while still emotionally-driven, she's no longer (as) clumsy and meek.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: After four games of being put through hell by finding out more and more about who and what she really is and having people swaying her, using her, and hunting her for their own agendas, Noel becomes the true reincarnation of Saya and now lives peacefully with her clone sisters as nuns.]]
* EndearinglyDorky: Noel is shy, reserved, and struggles to keep control over her emotions. Noel is extremely self-conscious, especially regarding her notoriously flat chest. She can be socially awkward at times, but this has actually served as an endearing trait, which earned her Tsubaki and Makoto’s friendship. Because of how shy she is, Noel shops online and attempts to hide away from others. She can become easily flustered at the slightest of remarks. The former Lieutenant regularly writes poems, although she never shows them to anyone out of sheer embarrassment. Noel also has a weakness for things she deems cute or fluffy, such as Lao Jiu or Makoto's tail.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Both in-universe (Litchi and Makoto, to an extent) and in real life (several female Dustloop members seem to be quite interested in her).
%%Don't add Expy here, see ShoutOut/BlazBlue.%%
* FanservicePack: Looks like her time nearly-completely-naked [[spoiler:as a Murakumo Unit]] helped her self-confidence as far as showing off goes. Compare [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120107214119/blazblue/images/9/93/Noel_Vermillion_%28Calamity_Trigger%2C_Character_Select_Artwork%29.png her CT/CS garb]] with [[http://images.wikia.com/blazblue/images/6/60/Noel_Vermillion_%28Chrono_Phantasma_Trailer%29.png her CP threads.]]
* FeetOfClay: Played for laughs in ch. 9 of ''Remix Heart'' where Noel claims that she won't get her eyes stung by cutting onions because she cooks often. Right after that we see her getting teary-eyed from cutting onions.
* FighterMageThief: Of her group of three friends, Makoto is undoubtedly the fighter with the greatest offensive potential, Tsubaki fits the mage best, though her Unlimited version is the toughest of the three (15,000 HP to the other two's 14,000HP according to Website/TheOtherWiki; in normal mode they all get 11,000 according to Dustloop), and Noel the thief noted for her speed, though her reliance on her magic guns leans towards the mage a little.
** It's switched around for [[spoiler:Mu-12 and Izayoi (Noel and Tsubaki's alter egos respectively): Mu is the mage with her powerful zoning capabilities and low health, while Izayoi is the thief with her quick attacks and high mobility.]]
* FightingYourFriend: During ''Continuum Shift'', Noel was approached by a masked officer from the Zero-Squadron, explaining to Noel that she had orders to return to her position. As Noel stated that she must persist with her search for Jin, the masked soldier revealed her mask to greet Noel with the sorrowful face of her best friend; Tsubaki. She had pleaded for Noel to return to her post and let her search for Jin so that Noel wouldn't charged with treason for defying orders. Noel still rejected her orders with intentions of keeping her promise to Jubei, and Tsubaki was left with no other action than to carry out her orders, and force Noel's return, or end her life. And the two would break out in a fight, each bearing emotional pain behind each strikes as they bought sought to avoid the inevitable violence. After a fierce battle embedded with emotions, Noel emerged victorious from the duel. Tsubaki stated that her defeat was inevitable, as she was well aware before the fight had started.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: It's revealed that she's [[spoiler:actually Mu -12-, the predecessor of Nu -13-. Her memories start to fade after her fight with Hakumen, and in her ending, she enters a state of LaserGuidedAmnesia, repeating the words "Who am I?" in a CreepyMonotone, much like her successor. Even creepier when she starts ''acting'' exactly like Nu -13-.]]
* FlashSideways: In some of her CT routes (and a few times in CS) she can apparently see a vision of what happened in another timeline in the same place. This is attributed to her having the "Eye of the Azure".
* ForcedToWatch: In ''Alter Memory'', after [[CurbStompBattle delivering a brutal thrashing]] to Noel and Makoto, Hazama tortures Makoto to enrage Noel and disable her Bolverk's limiter.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: When she encounters Nu in CT, she zones out and starts speaking in unison with her in MachineMonotone and RoboSpeak. [[spoiler: One game later and she's revealed to be her predecessor, Mu-12.]]
** She's mentioned to have very high Ars Magus aptitude, even higher than Jin. [[spoiler:''CF'' reveals that the person she was cloned from, Saya, was one of the children of the 5th Prime Field Device, who has a special ability of infinitely amplifying seithr around her; thus that is partly the reason for such high aptitude.]]
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:As ''CF'' shows, she's actually comprised of 2 soul-halves: one being half of Saya's soul, and the other being half of The Origin's soul (i.e the girl inside Amaterasu). Izanami repeatedly refers to the latter whenever she's talking about Noel somehow "desiring destruction" or "being the cause of the world's events". Doesn't help that she also gets amnesia at that point. In the end, she merges more, with both Izanami (completing Saya in the process) and The Origin's body. This briefly causes her some identity crisis, but Kokonoe tells her to think of herself as Noel and treat all of those new memories as extra information.]]
* GatlingGood: Her DD Zero Gun: Fenrir has her summon a gatling gun and fires it at her opponent. If done at close range, the shots will carry the foe upwards for the finishing shot.
* GloriousMotherRussia: She's born in Ibukido, which is located in Russia.
* {{Going Commando}}/{{Vaporwear}}: It's been wondered if Noel wears anything under her skirt thanks to a Freeze-Frame Bonus that may have just been an artist oversight: during her aerial barrier block, her skirt flaps so one can see up past her hips, with no waistband in sight, which put a new angle on the fact no other sprite showed her panties. Since then, official art and other sources have gone back and forth on the issue, perhaps deliberately.
* GrappleMove: See MurderousThighs below.
* GrewASpine: Her character arc in the franchise. In the early games, she spends a lot of time doubting her own opinions and neglecting to speak up for herself, even when she has an official mandate to do so, leading to her being pressed down a lot by her BadBoss Jin. In the later half of the series she steadily develops more confidence, becoming a lot more self-accepting and secure, and fights for herself so much that in ''Central Fiction'' she tells [[spoiler: Susano'o, a PhysicalGod]] not to underestimate her.
* GunsAkimbo: Wields two, very big, guns.
* GunsAreWorthless: She is the only gun-user among the player characters, and while she's not low-tier, she doesn't exactly do killer damage easily. Her guns can't even reach across the whole screen except with the [[LimitBreak Distortion Drives]].
** Somewhat averted as Noel's guns in-story are Nox Nyctores class weapons; one of ten of the most powerful weapons in the lore. They are also not ordinary guns and are designed to be close/melee ranged. In-story, these guns have the ability to shoot targets behind walls and barriers, although this isn't really executed in game.
* GunFu: Her entire playstyle revolves around this trope.
* GunKata: To such an extent that many of her moves were actually modeled after stances and attacks used by the warrior-priests of ''Film/{{Equilibrium}}'', which was stated during the ''[=BlazBlue=] x VideoGame/GuiltyGear'' panel at AX 2009. This is most obvious during her Astral Heat, which goes through the kata seen practiced in the movie, including the finishing pose holding the backs of the guns towards one another.
* TheGunslinger: Type C, especially with Unlimited Noel's insane speed in play.
* GunTwirling: She does this a lot in her battle animations.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Especially when compared with her blonde superior officer, Noel is sweet and kind to almost everyone she meets.
* HairTriggerTemper: ''Heavily'' downplayed compared to some of the other characters in the series, but the slighest mentions about Noel's [[ACupAngst breasts]] can get her to act ''very'' aggresive to the person that said it. Just ask Bang and Amane.
* HandCannon: The barrels of those guns are especially long; it's almost the same length as her forearms.
* HartmanHips: Blazblue already has a lot of MaleGaze on her butt and thighs, but her official measurements for her guest appearence in ''[[Characters/SpiralChaosCharacters Queen's Blade]]'' gives her a 93cm hip size; one of the largest hip measurements in the series, beaten only by Melissa and Cattleya(and Melona if she decides to shapeshift), and tied with Dora. But even then Noel has a higher Waist-to-Hip ratio than Cattleya.[[note]]Noel's ''W59 and H93'' compared to Cattleya's ''W68 and H99''.[[/note]]
* HappilyAdopted: She loves her adopted parents deeply. She found out about the upcoming banishment of the Vermillion household from the Control Organization and, concerned for the Vermillion family’s future, decided to take the entrance exam for the Military Academy in Torifune. She should officially only be Jin’s secretary, but in reality she would actually be a special solo soldier tasked mainly with intelligence and assassination. In return, the Vermillions’ reputation and rights would be restored. Noel accepted the offer for the sake of her family.
* HeroicBSOD: As soon as she sees Lambda in ''Continuum Shift'', a painful reminder of things she wants to forget forces its way forward and she freaks the hell out.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She has a low self esteem due to the fact that she has to put up with daily insults from Jin, her boss, to the extent that she's internalised that she's useless and (partly) due to her lack of endowment. She also wasn't gifted in school (other than having a really huge Ars Magus proficiency) and doesn't remember any of her past. Fortunately, her best friends are there to liven her life.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: with Tsubaki and Makoto, ever since their academy days.
* HyperspaceArsenal: Either this, or "TransformingWeapon." Where does Noel hide that gatling gun and the rocket launcher? She doesn't. That's just the [[AWizardDidIt Magitek gun]], Nox Nyctores Bolverk, doing its thing.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: In ''Central Fiction'', as seen in her arcade play, her inner desire seems to be just living normally with her parents and friends. This is probably also the reason why [[spoiler:in Mu's Act 1 arcade play, she subconsciously wants Mu to disappear (basically, wanting to be a perfectly normal girl) by warping reality and turning everyone into hating Mu, as Nine puts it.]]
* TheIdealistWasRight: After accepting the belief that ClonesArePeopleToo after undergoing CloneAngst, she also extends this to her fellow clones, Lambda and Nu, considering them her sisters. While Lambda is shown to be developing emotions and is relatively harmless, Nu on the other hand is an AxeCrazy OmnicidalManiac. [[spoiler:Despite this, she along with Lambda still takes care of Nu at the end of ''Central Fiction'' when she was left as a bedridden EmptyShell. However, ''Alternative: Dark War'' shows that their care for Nu actually did succeed in making her more of a normal person along with her genuinely seeing the two as her sisters.]].
* ImageSong:
** Her voice actress sings a vocal version of her theme "Bullet Dance" called "Love so Blue ~Blue Heartbeats~". [[spoiler:She also speaks as both Noel and Nu during the song after the 2nd verse.]]
** While unofficial, her English VA has done one too.
** She also has a collective one with Tsubaki's voice actor, for their vs. theme "Memory of Tears" called "Don't Look Back".
* IncestSubtext: Noel has shown signs of being attracted towards Ragna, especially after the events of ''CS''. [[spoiler:Now add to the fact that she holds a big part of Saya (Ragna's sister)'s soul, and then in the climax of ''CF'', after absorbing Izanami (who has another part of Saya's soul), she becomes the whole Saya. Not to mention Izanami herself can't help but having a bit of attraction towards Ragna because of Saya's latent memories. Although, once the absorption is complete, Noel and Ragna only speak to each other like normal siblings would, without too much attraction.]]
* InformedFlaw: Noel is stated in-universe to be a poor physical combatant with little in the way of athletic skill. In gameplay, however, she's a textbook FragileSpeedster and her fighting style is very acrobatic, with plenty of graceful jumps and flips. Heck, [[MurderousThighs just look at her standing neutral throw]].
* ItsPersonalWithTheDragon: Targeted at Terumi. [[spoiler:As it turns out, not only was Noel the inheritor of much of the original Saya's consciousness, but her "younger sister" Nu-13 reveals that Terumi explicitly made Noel just to fuse with her and become Kusanagi (the fusion would have resulted in the Black Beast, but Kusanagi was his goal); the remnants of Saya within Noel wanted none of that, which stalled the fusion long enough for Takamagahara to abort it via Take-Mikazuchi, which annihilated Ibukido in turn.]]
* IWillFindYou: As seen in Lambda's ''CPEX'' arcade, she goes finding Ragna in the Embryo.
* JapaneseSpirit: Noel definitely has Insight. She has a steadfast belief in her friends and family, which is her primary motivation to succeed. However, since she's a ShrinkingViolet, she doesn't have much stubbornness to keep pushing. She undergoes CharacterDevelopment that helps her develop much stronger abilities to help her.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Her Flash Suppressor special is this with bullets instead of kicks. There's also an Unlimited-only Distortion Drive where she does a more powerful version of it.
* KillTheCutie: In a bad end in ''Calamity Trigger'', Noel gets killed by the Black Beast while she begs for her life. Fortunately, it's not shown how she's killed, but given the Black Beast's reputation and her lack of a weapon, it probably wasn't pretty.
** Also applies in-game to a lot of the Astral Heats when done to her. Ones like Ragna's completely obliterate her body into nothingness.
* TheKirk: To Jin's [[TheSpock Spock]] and Ragna's [[TheMcCoy [=McCoy=]]], also serves as this to Tsubaki's [[TheSpock Spock]] and Makoto's [[TheMcCoy [=McCoy=]]].
* KnightKnaveAndSquire: She's the Squire in both her trios with Ragna and Jin and Makoto and Tsubaki. She's by far the youngest and least experienced of the trios (and the sole individual common to both groups); she mostly let Bolverk do the fighting until combat with Terumi caused their limiter to malfunction, and she's had to adjust to combat in a natural state since.
* LadyLooksLikeADude: [[AvertedTrope Not really]] as she clearly looks like a girl, but there has been two cases where she has been confuded for a boy and both cases ended with her [[BerserkButton attacking who did it]]:
** Bang once refers to her as "Young man" after they slam on each other and pointed out her lacking bosom when excusing himself, this causes Noel to try to arrest him for "public slandering of an officer."
** [[CampGay Amane]] [[DudeLooksLikeALady Nishiki]] calls her the best cross-dresser he's ever seen. Why, she'd be perfect for playing the roles of women in his acting troupe!....[[ComplimentBackfire This enrages her]] and causes [[ArtificialHuman her Murakumo Unit]] [[EmotionlessGirl personality to take over]].
--->[[AC:...Target deemed hostile. Commencing termination.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia:
** For some reason she can't quite remember her past. [[spoiler:It's revealed later that it's because she doesn't have that much of a past to begin with, being an ArtificialHuman.]]
** In ''CF'' she seems to forget the events of past games, like most other characters, though she does at least remember glimpses of it. [[spoiler:Her CF arcade runs imply that she erases her own memories after getting a vision while being inside the Black Beast; in particular she made a point not to remember any of it. The only thing we see, at least at first, is her seeing some kind of gate with someone in front of it.]] In story mode even after everyone else has regained their memories Noel remains amnesiac, something Ragna fixes [[spoiler:by reuniting her with Mu-12 and making her complete again.]]
* LeapAndFire: Her Drive moves involve her jumping and flipping around while firing her guns. Also in her Revolver Blast special where she spins and fires all over her.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Bullet Dance", which seems to have a mysterious yet powerful air surrounding it depicting her peculiar origins. Bullet Dance II has a more wild and forceful feel to it, describing how she isn't as timid and passive as she was before.
* LethalChef: Despite cooking being her hobby along with knowing how to do so, she is an atrocious cook, whose dishes always end up as dark rainbow-colored sludges. Also not helping the matter is her lack of taste and rule to ''never'' taste test it herself. To explain just how foul it is: ''Remix Heart'' revealed that her cooking was used as a ''penalty'', with an [[FinishingMove ASTRAL FINISH]] icon on top of a pile of half-dead students, and in her ''CS'' Gag Ending, Bang '''EXPLODES''' after taking a bite with nearly the entire roster following suit. The only ones that actually enjoy her cooking are Mai, who only tastes Noel's love in it, and Hazama, who is somehow the SoleSurvivor of her ''CS'' Gag Ending.
--> '''(Description of Noel's cooking):''' "What that 'something' was defied description. It didn't sit on the plate so much as squat malevolently, hating all and being hated by all..."
* LettingHerHairDown: In certain scenes in the first and second game, she takes off her beret, letting her (surprisingly long) hair down. From ''CP'' onwards she goes like this by default.
* LikeBrotherAndSister: With Ragna, just listen to any match between them throwing childish insults at each other. Noel even says that talking with Ragna feels like she's talking with a family member. It kind of helps that being a clone of Saya [[spoiler:and having part of her soul]], technically makes them siblings as well. {{Subverted}} entirely [[spoiler:when Noel merges with Izanami and gains Saya's memories, at which point she addresses Ragna and Jin as her brothers.]]
* LimitedWardrobe: Justified; With her own clothes torn to shreds and in possession of odd (if hot) armor, the wanted criminal manages to find a spare NOL uniform in an NOL facility albeit covered by a longcoat. This is then averted in ''Chronophantasma'', where she gets a whole new outfit. It makes sense since she's [[spoiler: defected from the NOL following the events of ''Continuum Shift''.]]
* LittleSisterHeroine: Somewhat, because she's not actually [[spoiler: Ragna's little sister but rather a clone of her. But still, everything else about the trope is played straight. Its heavily implied she has a crush on him, and even if she doesn't, she looks up to him like an actual older brother and the normally withdrawn and antisocial Ragna is fiercely protective of her. Their relationship is a major focus of the series at that. ]]
* LivingMacGuffin: Just as everyone's looking for Ragna in the first game, everyone's looking for Noel in the second.
** [[spoiler:Becomes this again in the fourth game with the revelation that she is the superior Entitled who cancels all of the other Entitled's wishes. This only stops when Ragna devours those desires.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder:M - S]]
* MadnessMantra: In regards to her chest: "[=ITDOESN'TMATTERITDOESN'TMATTERITDOESN'TMATTERITDOESN'TMATTERITDOESN'TMATTER!!!=]" (In one of ''Teach Me, Miss Litchi'' segments.)
* MageMarksman: she has the highest recorded Ars Magus aptitude in the story, and her guns fire magic blasts.
* MagicalEye: At the end of CT, she gains the "Eye of the Azure". This allows her to observe others on extraordinary levels, as she did to Tsubaki to materialize the true form of the Zero-Type Izayoi.. Noel has also gained the ability to see the distant and recent memories of people she touches, as seen with Carl Clover, Tsubaki Yayoi and Lambda-11, but she cannot do it by will. Another power she gained as she awakened was the ability to create the Imagined Landscape - an artificial world that takes on the form of the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi; its purpose is to help Noel with Event Interference. The Successor of the Azure is the only one capable of locating the Master Unit in the depths of the boundary.
* MagicSkirt: As a consequence of constantly fighting in a short skirt, the thing swirls around so much, that it's bred a bunch of rumors of her GoingCommando; official artwork zig-zags between yes and no.
* MarilynManeuver: during Amane's Astral Heat, she suddenly wears a long skirt, and does this pose.
* MindControl: Yukianesa isn't the only Nox Nyctores that influences its master's mind; Bolverk does it, too, but in a more positive way. Instead of encouraging her towards sadism, [[EmotionControl it seems to mute her feelings of nervousness and fear, lending her mechanical efficiency]]. After losing a fight to her, Bang Shishigami notes that he was thrown off his game by the fact that he detected absolutely no hostile intent from her, despite the beating he received. During another loop, Rachel accuses Noel of relying too much on Bolverk to maintain her composure and takes the guns away from her, whereupon Noel collapses into a helpless puddle of tears. [[spoiler: Turns out, Bolverk isn't just muting Noel's fear and indecisiveness in battle; it's also constantly suppressing the subconscious OmnicidalManiac desires attached to her forgotten memories of being a Murakumo Unit. Getting her mad enough that Bolverk's seal breaks is all part of Terumi's plan to make her into Kusanagi, the God-Slayer.]]
* MinidressOfPower: Her NOL uniform pre-CP.
* MinorInsultMeltdown: This exchange happens in ''Teach Me Miss Litchi RELOADED: Episode 1'':
->'''Makoto''': "Are you OK? Do you know who I am?"
->'''Taokaka''': "Uh… I see… three sets of boobies… and one… [[UsefulNotes/{{Pettanko}} cutting board]]…"
->'''Noel''': ''(utterly humiliated, sobbing)'' "C-cutting board?! She actually compared me to a cutting board!"
* MsFanservice: As the games' poster character, this is unsurprising. She's not the only one - or even the best - though.
* MultiRangedMaster: Bolverk can be a pair of pistols, a BFG, and now even a shotgun - all of which she can wield without issue.
* MurderousThighs: Her Muzzle Flitter special.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Noel is a small and petite young woman but keep in mind that she has fought and defeated '''[[MightyGlacier Tager.]]'''
* MysteriousWaif: Only deeper down though, as she isn't presented as being mysterious... at first.
* NamedWeapons: Her guns Arcus Diabolus (Devil's Arc): Bolverk.
* NiceGirl: She can be socially awkward at times, but this has actually served as an endearing trait, which earned her Tsubaki and Makoto’s friendship. Then there’s the soft and unfettered side to her personality that shows compassion to every person and being, and how everyone is being treated. With her job out of the way, she enjoys relaxing with friends and reminiscing, nostalgically. When she cares for others’ well-being, she overlooks her traits and is much more responsible. She is extremely close to Tsubaki Yayoi and Makoto Nanaya, and tries to get on with Jin Kisaragi despite the cruel way he treats her. She loves her adopted parents deeply, joining the NOL to save their name and often worrying about how they are.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Or in this case, Nice job breaking yourself, Noel: "One last thing. Try to stay away from Captain Hazama, OK?" Sure, Hazama would have found his way to her sooner or later, but Makoto was trying to warn Noel that the guy was bad news. If only she paid attention...
* NoRangeLikePointBlankRange: Many of her attacks has her shoot the opponent at very close range.
* NurseWithGoodIntentions: In ''Anime/BlazBlueAlterMemory'', Noel tried to take care of a wounded Ragna. This trope took place. Oops.
* ObliviouslyBeautiful: Because of her low self esteem and ACupAngst, Noel doesn't seem to realize how beautiful she is and acts either surprised or confused when her looks are complimented by other characters. But she is beautiful enough to have [[MsFanservice Litchi]] compliment her on her looks and even [[HandsomeLech Kagura]] shows a noticeable amount of concern and attraction to her. Not to mention all her MsFanservice official artwork.
* ObliviousToLove: Is either confused or outright ignorant of [[HandsomeLech Kagura's]] advances on her. Although it helps that Makoto is blatantly cockblocking him.
** Hilariously, her own object of affection, Ragna, is also oblivious, at best treating her like a little sister. (Considering what she is, it makes sense.)
* OverrankedSoldier: Noel is completely inept at her job as Ministerial Secretary, and her mental profile is equally unsuited for frontline combat. In fact Jin himself lampshades this in one Material Collection story. [[spoiler:Terumi needed her to keep tabs on Jin and eliminate him if he got too out of hand, plus he needs her to help him break the timeloop and destroy the Master Unit, and placing her in this role was ideal on all fronts. Among the other girls who could fill the role, Tsubaki (the ideal match) would be skewered by Nu without a much of a fight, and Terumi wants Makoto as far away from Jin as possible.]]
* ParadoxPerson: Noel [[spoiler: never existed in previous timelines]] (as the result of being an ArtificialHuman AttackAnimal of some sort). [[BigBad Terumi]] is able to use this knowledge (combined with the fact that [[spoiler: that Tsubaki would [[LoveMakesYouEvil have Jin to herself]] and withholding the fact that in the prime universe, she'd be dead and Jin would become Hakumen]]) to MoreThanMindControl [[spoiler: Tsubaki, Noel's best friend]] into a FaceHeelTurn.
* PhlebotinumGirl: After she's mindraped and "tempered" into a AttackAnimal by Terumi, [[spoiler: She gets better thanks to Ragna in the game's true ending]])
* PistolWhipping: Her normal attacks naturally consists of this. She even throws one of her guns like a boomerang in one of her drive moves.
* PlatonicLifePartners: Her relationship with Ragna becomes this over the course of the series. At first, Noel harbored a crush on him but eventually gets over it. [[spoiler:Justified because she is a {{Reincarnation}} of his long-lost sister Saya and incest-based relationships in the ''[=BlazBlue=]'' are a major no-no outside the Yayoi clan, and Noel does get Saya's memories down the line--both regard each other as blood siblings soon after.]]
* PluckyGirl: Although to a much lesser but constantly increasing extent than her friend, Makoto Nanaya, Noel still counts as this trope. She began as a ShrinkingViolet with huge issues, but after the events of ''Continuum Shift'' and leading up to ''Chrono Phantasma'', she seems to have [[TookALevelInBadass taken a few levels in badass]] [[CharacterDevelopment and developed a more assertive but still kind personality]]. And as her best friend, Makoto helped her quite a bit. So yeah, try stopping her from [[spoiler: [[DeclarationOfProtection saving]] [[AlwaysSaveTheGirl her other best friend Tsubaki]] ]]. '''Try it'''.
* PostFinalBoss: [[spoiler: She along with Jin have one last fight with Ragna after the latter slays Terumi for good and before he erases himself from the world.]]
* PowerLimiter: In ''Continuum Shift'', Hazama explained that Noel's Nox Nyctores Bolverk actually functions as a limiter to sustain her emotions, thus when Bolverk broke, Noel unlocked her true form - Mu-12. This only happens because he was riling her up at the time, however. When Rachel takes Bolverk from her in an alternate timeline, she instead loses all self-confidence and dissolves into tears.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Similar to Jin, Noel wears primarily blue colors with red and blue details, and beginning from ''CP'', she also incorporates white into her color scheme. Unlike Jin, she's also a much straighter example throughout.
* RaisedAsAHost: This was originally her fate, being fused with the true Azure, she was meant to be the heart and fuse with [[spoiler:Hazama]], the body, to create a new Black Beast. But was spared thanks to Takemikazuchi.
* RealityWarper: In ''Continuum Shift'', Noel gains the power of "the Eye". Essentially, this means that amongst the thousands and thousands of possible timelines, whatever timeline Noel "observes" becomes the "real" timeline. Essentially, she gets the power to create the default timeline, and everything else becomes a mere possibility.
** Continued in ''Chronophantasma'' where she can make extra-dimensional realms out of her memories and observe things that cannot be observed normally; this also makes her able to locate the Kushinada Lynchpin.
** Continued in ''Central Fiction'' where she can tie out several continuum shifts together and realize her dreams in the Embryo... by eating everyone else's dreams. [[spoiler: This is due to the fact that she has part of Amaterasu's soul within her, which effectively makes her "God".]]
* RedBaron: [[spoiler:"Eye of the Azure", "Calamity Trigger" and "Sword of the Godslayer/The Godslaying Sword". Additionally, Hakumen refers to her as "Child of the Azure", which doesn't sound that impressive until you remember ''what'' the Azure is.]]
* ReiAyanamiExpy: Just like the other two Murakumo Units. Noel is a young women with light hair and skin, draw power from an EldritchLocation, was created by an abusive MadScientist father, is a '''MAJOR''' TheWoobie and is one of the clones of Ragna's (the protagonist) long lost sister. She didn't know she was a Murakumo for years and developed a proper (but meek) personality, initially serving the local StateSec to support her family but eventually breaking away from that to help save the world.
* {{Reincarnation}}: [[spoiler: By the end of Central Fiction, having merged with Izanami and "The Origin", she becomes Saya in all but name but says it feels weird to be called that and prefers "Noel".]]
* RememberTheNewGuy: [[spoiler:She didn't exist in the original timeline, and now that she does, Terumi stuck her in Tsubaki's "original" place, all as part of his plan to use Tsubaki's jealousy as an in-road to [[MindRape mind-raping]] her into a FaceHeelTurn. The fact that (an extra-continuual) Makoto brought this up in her story to him makes him shit his pants as he declared that his plans have been FUBAR.]]
* ResemblanceReveal: At the end of the first game it's revealed that Noel and Nu-13 both look alike...because Noel's a [[ArtificialHuman Prime Field Device]]. Then, in the ''Continuum Shift'' it's reveal that all the PFD look the same because [[spoiler: they're clones of Ragna and Jin's sister]]. Makoto's story mode has an in-universe version when she [[spoiler: looks at the "failed" devices near the cauldron (which shunted her into an alternative universe where Noel was never "born") and finds that they all look like Noel (her best friend).]]
* RollingAttack: One of her drive moves is her spinning vertically while firing her guns. One of her specials is a more powerful version of it.
* PseudoRomanticFriendship: ''Three-way'' example with [[YamatoNadeshiko Tsubaki]] [[LadyOfWar Yayoi]] and [[GenkiGirl Makoto]] [[BoisterousBruiser Nanaya]]. They met in the military academy and watched out for each other, becoming fast friends and helping each other with quite severe issues. The all ended up joining different branches of the [[StateSec NOL]] and don't get the chance to see each other much anymore, but enjoy spending time with each other. Noel and Makoto's main motivation in ''Chronophantasma'' is trying to get Tsubaki back after she was [[MindRape manipulated]] by [[{{Troll}} Terumi]]. Notably, Noel and Tsubaki were originally planned to be a lesbian couple and Makoto has been confirmed to be bi (and felt up Tsubaki's chest in a [[WhatIf gag reel]]). However, Tsubaki [[SingleTargetSexuality only has eyes]] for [[ChildhoodMarriagePromise Jin.]]
* SexyBacklessOutfit: In both of her main outfits, although more prominently in her post-''CS'' one. Especially noticeable in one of her win poses where she turns away from the camera and removes her capelet.
* ShamefulStrip: if Noel Vermillion is caught in Relius Clover's Astral Heat move, she will be seen completely naked and strapped to a machine... before Relius finishes her off, and most likely [[PlayingWithSyringes experiments on her]].
* ShipperOnDeck: Noel is clearly a fangirl for [[OfficialCouple Jin X Tsubaki]].
* ShipTease: Her ''Calamity Trigger'' ending (and the True Ending) has this with Ragna... which gets a bit awkward because she looks like, [[spoiler: and later (fully) becomes,]] his sister.
** The idea of having feelings for him actually crosses her mind at the beginning of her Story Mode in ''Continuum Shift'', followed by a SuspiciouslySpecificDenial.
** In Chronophantasma, after she's [[spoiler: gained control of her Murakumo powers and able to access them at will]] her pre-battle intro with Ragna has her extremely embarrassed at him seeing her [[{{Stripperific}} Stripperifficness]] and if she wins, she shyly tries to cover up. Ragna is the only character she has this reaction to. Perhaps best shown in arcade mode.
-->'''Ragna:''' ''*Dropped from the sky*'' Owww! Goddammit! Where the hell am--Noel!?
-->'''Noel:''' Huh? Ragna...?
-->'''Ragna:''' What the hell are you wearing!? You idiot!
-->'''Rachel:''' Just so you know, Noel...he's the real Ragna.
-->'''Noel:''' Huh? ''*Realization sets in*'' '''EHHHHHH!?''' R-Ragna...don't! Don't look at me!
** Also in CP, in her Arcade ending, she echoes what Ragna said to her in the CS true ending.
-->'''Noel:''' These feelings I have for someone else. That cannot possibly be artificial. What that person told me - "As a human being, as a person, to fight until the very end." It was for my own sake... That sacrifice... That's why I must fight. I want to help others. As a person, as a human being. As... Noel. Until the very end.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Her Spring Raid special, done with her legs.
* ShrinkingViolet: "[[AllThereInTheManual Likes: shopping over the Internet (so that she doesn't have to talk to people).]]" Noel is the definition of this archetype. She is shy, clumsy, and tends to get worked up over the smallest things. She initially had great difficulty with socializing with other people, only being able to communicate because of Bolverk's ability to suppress emotions. In time, she eventually learned to interact with others, being polite, and helpful, yet reserved.
* SignatureMove: Expect to see her Drive moves being used a lot.
* SignificantBirthDate: She was born on Christmas Day, befitting of her kind nature. ''Alternative: Dark War'' even gave her a special Christmas-themed outfit for its holiday event.
* SingleStrokeBattle: One of her Unlimited-only Distortion Drives has her rush through the opponent, then jam the butts of her guns together and the opponent somehow gets engulfed in an explosion.
* SkillGateCharacters: Will overwhelm newbies with her spam-friendly Chain Revolvers. Even lampshaded by Kokonoe in her HMPK segment.
* SlideAttack: One of her drive moves, specifically her 6D where she slides to hit the opponent's low side.
* SmallGirlBigGun: To start off, she wields two pistols that are large and long enough to be small rifles as opposed to pistols. This is taken further with her ''Zero Gun: Fenrir'', which her guns morph into a {{BFG}}.
* SoulFragment: [[spoiler:Chronophantasma seems to hint that the reason why Noel has all of Saya's full memories is because Noel technically have some of Saya's soul within her as she called Ragna "Big brother." This is confirmed in Central Fiction.]]
* SoundOnlyDeath: In her UpCloseWithTheMonster ending in ''Calamity Trigger''. Since it wasn't an actual cutscene in-game, just a view of the helpless Noel looking at the Black Beast, she avoided the GoryDiscretionShot when she was brutally killed by it.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler: Noel's supposed to be dead in the "normal", Phase 0 timeline; as such her very existence messes with the plans of the Takamagahara (and her yanking Ragna out of the cauldron, far more so). Terumi, being one step ahead of everyone, has taken every possible advantage so far, but as of the end of CS, he's also decided he doesn't need her for anything anymore...]]
* SpeakInUnison: In her Act 1 arcade play in ''CF'', in her fight against Nu, they say "commencing extermination of target" in unison before the fight starts.
* SpecialGuest: She appears in ''Anime/QueensBlade'' franchise's game [[Characters/SpiralChaosCharacters Spiral Chaos]]'' as a replacement for [[VideoGame/DeadOrAlive Kasumi]] along with VideoGame/WonderMomo, due to Tecmo-Koei's refusal to allow Kasumi to appear in that game. Cue to potential [[HilarityEnsues hilarity]] when she meets the extremely well-endowed Cattleya along the way.
* SpecialPersonNormalName: She is the Successor of the Azure and one of the most important people in the series' universe. To put her name in context, her allies include Ragna, Jin, Tsubaki, Kokonoe, Hakumen and Iron Tager.
* SpentShellsShower: Everytime Noel attacks by shooting something, shells will eject out of Bolverk. Naturally, the moves what have her firing Bolverk multiple times start to get closer to this trope.
* SquishyWizard: In-universe example. Her evaluation in ''Remix Heart'' states that she has received below average academic and athletic scores from testing, but she makes up for it by having the highest [[{{Magitek}} Ars Magus]] aptitude score ''ever recorded in the history of the NOL Military Academy''. This bleeds over into her armagus synchronization as well.
** The poor athleticism thing seems to be an InformedFlaw, though; her fighting style is very acrobatic, though she ''is'' quite a FragileSpeedster in gameplay terms, so maybe it is true.
* StuffBlowingUp: Her Astral as of ''Chronophantasma''; the recipient is ''nowhere to be seen'' after the explosions. Her Astral in the previous games does this too, but not as extreme.
* {{Synchronization}} / GeminiDestructionLaw: [[spoiler:In ''Continuum Shift'', Hazama established a "life-link" with her, which prevents either of them from being killed unless they both die, and at the same time.]]
[[/folder]]
[[folder:T - Y]]
* TakeMyHand: She does this to Ragna in CT's True Ending to save him from falling to the Cauldron. It breaks the time loop in the process.
* TakingTheVeil: [[spoiler: She and Lambda become nuns at the end of ''Central Fiction'', taking care of Nu.]]
* TeamChef: For the team Remix Heart. Unfortunately, only Mai likes her cooking, the others are pretty much disgusted by it.
* TenderTears: She tends to do this a lot as a result of a lot of the trauma she endures.
** First when saving Ragna from dying in CT.
** Then when he sacrificed his left arm to [[spoiler: bring her back from Mu-12]]
** And finally when [[spoiler: Ragna finishes his plan on erasing everyone's memory of him, including her. She's outright ''begging'' Ragna not to go through with erasing himself from the world while bawling her eyes out.]]
* ThemeNaming: Her special move names start with "Type (Roman number)" and her Distortion Drives has the pattern of "Zero Gun: (names in Norse myth)".
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her Exceed Accel in the fourth game consists of three parts. Though if done while in Active Flow, it becomes 5 parts.
* ThrowingYourGunAtTheEnemy: One of her moves has her throwing one of her guns at the opponent, which flies back to her like a boomerang.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: She flies into a rage and says this to Hazama when [[spoiler:he reveals to her that he was using Tsubaki to greatly and deeply hurt her so much, for his own amusement. She gets so angry that she breaks Bolverk's seals on her emotions, allowing Hazama to turn her back into Mu -12-, the True Successor of the Azure. JustAsPlanned.]]
* TitleDrop: Many of the subtitles of Blazblue refer to her in some way.
** Calamity Trigger describes her as the Successor of the Azure.
** Continuum Shift is a phenomenon of multiple continuums happening at the same time, that she caused unconsciously after awakening her Azure powers.
** Chronophantasma refers to people who are "outside of fate" and thus are immune to Phenomenon Intervention. This includes her, Rachel and Celica.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Between herself and her siblings, [[spoiler: Ragna and Jin]], Noel is this. [[spoiler: Ragna is a wanted criminal with a really bad attitude and a HairTriggerTemper who is motivated by revange, Jin is a sociopathic {{Jerkass}} who cares very little for people other than himself.]] Meanwhile, Noel is a shy and polite NiceGirl who tries to avoid fighting if unnecessary.
* TomatoInTheMirror: She's a lot more than just a simple soldier alright, to wit she is an ArtificialHuman, the Successor of the Azure and Eyes of the Master Unit, and [[spoiler: she and the queen that she used to work for are two halves of the younger sister of the world's most wanted criminal and her commanding officer.]]
** ''CF'' has her getting even more of this. [[spoiler:It's revealed that Noel is subconsciously manipulating the Embryo and denying every other Entitled's wishes with the Azure. She also somehow cast Mu away from herself, becoming separate entities, while apparently "putting all her sin into her". And later Izanami mentions that she (not Mu) is the Original/First Prime Field Device, aka "The Origin", implying that she somehow is/becomes the girl in the Amaterasu Unit (and said unit is currently mentioned to be empty).]]
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Makoto's Tomboy. Noel is a {{sh|rinkingViolet}}y, clumsy {{Moe}} girl that's obsessed with cute animals and writes poems about true love, and Makoto is a [[GenkiGirl energetic,]] childish BoisterousBruiser. Both are BadassAdorable in their own right.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:She can now [[SuperMode freely turn into Mu -12-]].]]
* TownGirls: With Tsubaki and Makoto, even fitting the geographic part. Noel was adopted into a minor noble family, Tsubaki came from a noble family, and Makoto was a squirrel {{beast|Man}}kin who came from the countryside outside the cities.
* {{Tritagonist}}: She's the "Successor of the Azure" and has just as an important role in the story as Ragna & Jin. In particular she's the focus of the second [[spoiler:and fourth]] game.
* TrueBlueFemininity: Being primarily associated with the color blue (what with her association with the Azure), she's also a girly girl who's quite emotional.
* {{Tsundere}}: Yes, even [[ShrinkingViolet Noel]] has this going; she's a Type B case towards Ragna.
* TwoGuysAndAGirl: In covers and promotional ads, Ragna, Jin and Noel are always sided together as the series's main protagonists.
* UnwittingPawn: With the power of her MagicalEye, she unwittingly observes Terumi, causing him to be fully active and kickstart his EvilPlan.
* UpCloseWithTheMonster: One of the bad endings in ''Calamity Trigger'' has [[EldritchAbomination the Black Beast]] staring face to face with Noel.
* WeaponWieldsYou: Noel's [[GunsAkimbo Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk]] apparently does most of the fighting for her, as well as [[MindControl suppressing her emotions]] to some degree. Something of a positive example; it was helping her [[spoiler: keep her OmnicidalManiac tendencies in check]] - when she loses them in the first game, she breaks down in tears and when it happens in the second [[spoiler: (along with a little MindRape from the BigBad) she becomes [[SuperpoweredEvilSide Mu-12]].]] Averted by the time of the third game due to [[spoiler: controlling Mu and Bolverk being broken and rebuilt.]]
* WhatBeautifulEyes: So much that even Hazama is in love with them.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: [[spoiler:Admits that she is a doll created by humans in ''Chrono Phantasma'', but decides that since her feelings are her own she is still an individual. In ''CPEX'', she wants to extend this logic to her "sisters", Lambda for sure and Nu more questionably (mostly because it's unclear Nu would even accept the idea).]]
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Hates bugs, especially ones with lots of legs. Which makes [[EldritchAbomination Arakune]] a nightmare opponent for her. Amusingly, her freaking out causes her to become uncharacteristically violent (perhaps due to Bolverk's influence) and she [[CurbstompBattle proceeds to repeatedly shoot him until he stops moving.]] [[OverlyLongGag And some more, just in case.]]
* WillfullyWeak: At least after she unlocks the ability to use her Murakumo form [[SuperPoweredEvilSide Mu-12]] in combat. This makes her easily one of the strongest fighters in the universe, yet she only relies on it when she has no choice but to use it.
* WistfulAmnesia: She's one of the many who becomes amnesic in ''Central Fiction'', but she can sense that something's missing in her head... and that she can still remember a few bits of things, such as circumstances of her creation.
* YouAreNumberSix: [[spoiler:Is designated Boundary Interface Prime Field Device –No.12-]].
* YouMonster: When she recalls Hazama ordering Tsubaki to kill her and Jin in the CS retelling in CPEX, she implicitly calls Hazama this, lamenting what kind of monster would have a gall of giving Tsubaki that order (knowing that she won't refuse).
* YoungerThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:She has the looks and maturity of a young woman, but chronologically she's only five years old.]] Not unlike Dizzy from VideoGame/GuiltyGear.

-> This is the form that Noel takes after being converted to her original Murakumo Unit form. She is being mind-controlled by Terumi and her hatred for the world has now increased. Seeing as how she is the TrueFinalBoss of Story Mode, she is a secret character who can be unlocked by beating the True Ending or by downloading her via the Platform/PlayStationNetwork Store or Xbox Live Marketplace.

-> Confirmed as a returning character in ''Chronophantasma''. It has been revealed that Noel has willingly allowed herself to be transformed back into her true self by Rachel in order to save Tsubaki.

-> Her Arcade mode playthroughs are named, in second and third game respectively: ''Wrath Blade'' and ''cloudless sky''.

-> Her Drive, '''Steins Gunner''', allows her to create small orbs of energy that can be used to fire lasers everywhere. Her Overdrive is '''Steins Gazer''', which makes her orbs fire lasers constantly until the Overdrive duration ends (or until she detonates them).

-> In the fourth game, her Exceed Accel '''Tsuchi Ikazuchi[[note]]Lit. "Earth Thunder"[[/note]]/Pillar of Light''' has her stun the foe with a slash, then multiple swords revolve around the foe and proceeds to [[ReverseShrapnel impale the foe from all sides,]] creating a big explosion right after. Her ''CS'' Astral Finish, '''Sword of the Godslayer''' traps the opponent in a crystal as she conjures up her sword, Kusanagi, which is engulfed in flames. She then slices the crystal prison in half, with the opponent still inside. In the third game, it has a different animation: After trapping the opponent in the crystal, instead of lifting them and slashing them once she spreads her Murakumo petals and they transform into 8 Kusanagi swords that are supercharged with energy. The swords converge around the crystal and explode, reducing the surrounding area to a nuclear wasteland.
----
[[folder:Tropes involving Mu]]
* ArcSymbol: Her symbol is also the ''CS''' logo.
* ArtificialHuman: Like Nu and Lambda, she's one of the Prime Field Devices slash Murakumo Units who are created in a lab.
* AttackAnimal: When Hazama created Mu [[spoiler: by brainwashing and forcefully transforming (or [[ArtificialHuman upgrading]] [[RobotGirl her]] without the "[[RestrainingBolt safeties]]" on if you look at it that way) [[FaceMonsterTurn Noel Vermillion]]]], he more or less wanted her for this. Even referring to her as his "sword".
* AttackDrone: Her Drive's function in a nutshell. She can also fire a laser to the drones to damage the opponent, or detonate them.
* AxCrazy: In her debut, she wanted little more than to destroy everything, [[spoiler:thanks to being corrupted by Terumi]]. Anyone who stands in her way is a threat that she will coldly execute without remorse or hesitation. In some moments, there was a glimpse at insanity as she manically laughed while indulging in her power. Once she regains her senses she sheds this completely.
* BadassAdorable: After Noel gains control of Mu in ''Chronophantasma'', she has all the power from before with her [[CuteClumsyGirl person]][[ShrinkingViolet ality]] still intact.
* BareMidriffsAreFeminine: Just like Noel.
* BeamSpam: Fighting her is the equivalent of a BulletHell.
* BecomeYourWeapon: She's normally separated from her weapon. In order to access her battle form, she merges with it.
* {{BFS}}: The sword on her back, appropriately named Kusanagi. She can also summon one giant sword to cut the helpless enemy (CS) or ''8'' (CP) in her Astral Heat.
* BigNo: Lets out an anguished one in her ''CF'' Act 2 arcade ending where [[spoiler:she realizes that, somehow, "Noel" created the Embryo, brought the world to ruin, separated herself from Mu and [[TheScapegoat blamed everything bad that's happened on her - and makes everyone hates her]].]]
* BilingualBonus: While it's part of the Greek alphabet ThemeNaming, check out [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu_%28negative%29 what "mu" means in Japanese]]. Her idle quote while standing completely still during ''CS''?
--> ''"[[CreepyMonotone I don't need]]...''[[NothingIsScarier anything]]''."''
* BoobsAndButtPose: [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/blazblue/images/d/d2/Mu-12_%28Chronophantasma%2C_Character_Select_Artwork%29.png/revision/latest?cb=20170129005133 Mu-12's art from ''Chronophantasma'']]. The designers certainly didn't hold back with [[ChainmailBikini that outfit]]. She [[ACupAngst doesn't have much to show on the front though]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In ''Continuum Shift''
** HeelFaceTurn: In the true ending of ''Continuum Shift''. Persists into ''Chronophantasma''.
* ButNotTooForeign: Being that she's a clone of [[spoiler:Saya[=/=]Noel, who was born from the 5th Prime Field Device, implied to be based off of Saya Terumi, who is Japanese]].
* ChargedAttack: She can hold the Drive button to summon a drone that fires a delayed, stronger laser.
* DarkActionGirl: Mu is one of the most powerful entities to have ever existed. As the perfect fusion of a portion of Azure with a Boundary Interface Prime Field Device, Mu boasts power stronger than that of the Black Beast. She can freely enter the Boundary and is capable of fighting off present-time Hakumen, then both Jin and Ragna the Bloodedge at the same time. However before Noel is able to control this form, all Mu wants is the destruction of the world
* DeathSeeker: While under Terumi's control, some of her quotes seem to point to this. "[[SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum If the world dies so will I!]]"
* DeflectorShields: One of her moves makes a diamond-shaped shield around her that acts like Hakumen's counter drive. If the opponent hits her, they get blown across the screen.
* DifficultButAwesome: Somewhat; due to how her Drive works, one must know well where to put the drone and when they start shooting, as one wrong move can make the pressure stop.
* DontLookAtMe: When facing off against Ragna in ''Chronophantasma'' she yells not to stare at her in their pre-battle banter. He insists that he's not. Her reaction makes sense considering it's actually Noel in control now and she's [[{{Stripperiffic}} hardly a stone's throw away from being naked.]]
* DoomyDoomsOfDoom: Her character theme is, appropriately enough, Sword of Doom.
* DownloadableContent: That is, if you don't bother playing Story Mode.
* EnergyBall: Her Arrows of Heaven move throws these.
* EnergyWeapon:
** Her Drive lets her create [[AttackDrone laser turrets.]]
** Her Totsuka Blade move lets her fire a laser that [[ReflectingLaser jumps from drone to drone before flying towards her enemy.]]
** Her Blessed Mirror/Yata no Kagami DD is a stronger version of the above.
* EvilIsEasy: It appears that Mu, when under the influence of her hatred, is far stronger than when Noel is in control.
* EyeColorChange: Noel's eyes are originally green. As Mu they turn blue.
* FinalBoss: Of ''Continuum Shift'''s story mode.
* FlyingFirepower: Downplayed: She only [[PowerFloats floats]], but she's well-known for her firepower.
* FlyingWeapon: Much like her "sisters" before her, [[RazorWings the floating 8 blades]]. She doesn't use them as much, however.
* FragileSpeedster: She moves quickly like other Murakumo units, but have little health.
* GlassCannon: Much like the other Murakumo units, she can potentially deal high damage, but have little health.
* GoodWingsEvilWings: Much like the other Murakumo Units, Mu has magically levitated sword-wings, but hers can also transform into a [[{{BFS}} Big Fucking]] LaserBlade when she swings them in unison. In case you haven't been clued in yet: Mu-12 is world-destroyingly evil, has the power to pull it off, ''and'' fully intends to go through with it.
* HihiIrokane: Her armor is made of the substance. Unfortunately, [[ArmorIsUseless it does little]] [[GlassCannon in way of defense.]]
* IKnowYoureInThereSomewhereFight: Her fight with Ragna in the true route of ''CS'' is about him trying to restore her into the Noel he knew. Rachel points out that it's nigh impossible, but Ragna proves that it can be done, though he needed to [[AnArmAndALeg sacrifice his left arm]] for it. Cue lots of "Baka/stupid"s and Takamagahara getting shocked at such a feat (which [[spoiler:allows Terumi to sneak into them and infect them with Phantom's special virus.]])
* {{Invocation}}: Her Astral Finish during ''CS''. "The seven celestial gods! The world created by the hands of the gods. Everything is false! Everything is a lie! The final days have come! Now, let everything be destroyed!"
* KillTheGod: She was made to kill Amaterasu, an actual god. [[spoiler:Ultimately, [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu she kills Izanami, the Goddess of Death]] (or at least her vessel)]].
* LaserBlade: Her swords [[PowerGlows glow]] in most attacks, giving the impression of this.
* {{Leitmotif}}: ''Sword of Doom'', a sinister piece that describes her hate for the world. ''Sword of Doom II'' kinda flips the script, fans jokingly call it ''Sword of Salvation''.
* LeotardOfPower: Unlike the other two Murakumo units, who wear unitards, Mu wears a leotard, and a rather skimpy one at that.
* LightIsNotGood: Wears a primarily light outfit, and has various [[LightEmUp light powers]] like a PillarOfLight transformation, {{Laser Blade}}s and tons of [[EnergyWeapon Frickin' Laser Beams]]. And is motivated to destroy the world.
** LightIsGood: As of ''Chronophantasma'', where the kind-hearted Noel becomes able to command this form.
* LiteralSplitPersonality: [[spoiler:According to her Act 2 ''CF'' arcade play, as well as Noel's own, Noel has separated herself from Mu, apparently because Noel had done something very, very wrong and blamed it on her. They even meet each other in Mu's Act 3 arcade play.]]
* LongRangeFighter: she's this, with the help of her Drive.
* MadnessMantra: After being defeated by Ragna.
--> "''Hate! Hate! Hate! Hate! HATE! HATE! HATE! Destroy the world! Destroy '''everything'''!''"
* MaleGaze: Noel already had some for her hips and thighs. Mu, with her outfit, has it for her [[https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/blazblue/images/d/d2/Mu-12_%28Chronophantasma%2C_Character_Select_Artwork%29.png/revision/latest?cb=20170129005133 butt]].
* MindControlEyes: While under Terumi's control in ''Continuum Shift'', her blue eyes are completely devoid of pupils. Even after Noel gains full control of this form, her pupils are noticeably duller when compared to Noel.
* MisanthropeSupreme: The Imperator stated she's an instrument of humanity's destruction, with Mu expressing hate for all living things.
* MotiveRant: Her alternate Astral Finish quote before her HeelFaceTurn.
--> ''"Why...? The world you have wished for... is filled with pain, agony and despair. It will continue to collapse upon itself. That kind of world is unnecessary!"''
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: ''Kusanagi the Godslaying Sword/Sword of the Godslayer''. Additionally, "Mu" can mean the twelfth letter of the Greek alphabet (μ) or the original state of nothingness in Japanese.
* TheNicknamer: Never calls anyone by name, instead using titles that reflect their role. Thus, Ragna is "The Black Beast", Jin is "The Endbringer", Terumi is "The True Evil" and so on. Annulled in ''Chronophantasma''.
* NotHyperbole: Her "Sword of the Godslayer" title is not just for show. [[spoiler:''CF'' shows it by her being able to slay Izanami, the Goddess of Death (with Ragna's help, but still).]]
* OccultBlueEyes: Her blue eyes contrast with the green eyes Noel Vermillion had before she was "tempered".
* OminousLatinChanting[=/=]ImageSong: In addition to the former in her theme, there are also vocals sung by the opera vocalist from Awakening the Chaos, Nu's theme. In ''Chronophantasma'', the vocalist is replaced with a new one.
* OneWingedAngel: Canonically, against her will, Mu is this for Noel.
* OptionalBoss: If you do not continue and get at least 3 Astral Finishes throughout ''Continuum Shift II'', a special cutscene occurs where Terumi decides you're worth being a test subject for her battle capabilities. This results in you fighting her [[SNKBoss Unlimited form]].
* OrbitingParticleShield: Her Unlimited self in ''CP'' gains a new DD that involves her drones spinning around her and hitting anyone who comes close multiple times.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Her Astral calls down several ''skyscraper sized blades'' to decimate both her opponent and the surrounding area. In story, Hakumen at 30-40% of his power couldn't do any lasting damage to her, she [[CurbStompBattle effortlessly defeated]] Jin after he spent ''Continuum Shift'' [[TookALevelInBadass recovering and getting even stronger]], and it took Ragna after he gained the Idea Engine to defeat her.
* PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep: Throughout the series, Noel is a generally harmless girl, though a competent combatant (mostly thanks to her weapon, the Bolverk), with a high and girly voice. When she's forced into the form of Mu-12, which harnesses the power of [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Kusanagi, the Godslayer]], her voice plummets several octaves. Crosses over with EvilSoundsDeep, and even once she gains conscious control of the transformation and joins the heroes again, using her Murakumo form still causes a noticeable difference in tone.
* PrimaryColorChampion: Just like her original counterpart Noel, she wears primarily blue and white with red and yellow details but when she was introduced, she was brainwashed by the BigBad into destroying everything. After Noel gains full control of this form, she becomes a straight example.
* RedBaron: Has a variety of nicknames depending on who is talking to/about her. Notably "Sword of the Godslayer" and "Girl of Distortions"
* ReflectingLaser: Her Totsuka Blade special and Blessed Mirror DD has her firing a laser towards her drones which then reflects to the other ones before reflecting towards the foe. [[SituationalDamageAttack Depending on the positioning and the amount of the drones active,]] the moves can deal a few or a lot of damage.
* RoboSpeak: Mu's post-battle quotes in ''CS'' all sound like something out of a computer program.
-->'''Mu:''' [[BadassNormal Target]]'s resistance to seithr exceeds established parameters... Executing research protocols...
* SexierAlterEgo: For Noel.
* ShouldersOfDoom: Appropriately enough, and thankfully so, too, else even less of what she's wearing would count as "clothes".
* SignatureMove: Her Drive moves.
* SplitPersonalityMerge: [[spoiler:Partway through ''Central Fiction'' Noel accepts Mu as a part of herself again and regains her memories as a result.]]
* TheStoic: While she was under Terumi's control.
* StrawNihilist: She wants to [[OmnicidalManiac destroy the world and everybody in it]]. During her Astral she even rants about how corrupt and evil the world is and asks why her opponent resists. [[spoiler:This is due to Terumi's influence; in ''Chronophantasma'' she sheds this trope completely.]]
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Mocked in one podcast by composer Daisuke Ishiwatari:
--> "Armor is protective gear, right? What is this protecting?"
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in ''Chronophantasma''. When fighting against Ragna, Noel is overcome by embarrassment and yells at him not to stare at her while he insists that he isn't.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: To Noel at first, but becomes just plain old SuperMode in ''Chronophantasma''.
* ThemeNaming: Most of her moves' names are [[ReligiousAndMythologicalThemeNaming references to Japanese mythology.]]
* TheyCallHimSword: Aside from being a Murakumo Unit, she's also called "Sword of the Godslayer, Kusanagi" (Kusanagi in Japanese myth is Murakumo's alternate name).
* ThreeStrikeCombo: Her DD Wisdom of the Divines in Overdrive has her summon 3 sets of swords to impale the opponent as opposed to just one.
* TransformationSequence: In most of her intros, she changes her outfit from a long robe to the Murakumo armor.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:Terumi uses Mu and Ragna's fight as distraction to hack into the Takamagahara System.]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:The moment Ragna defeats her after she has already defeated Hakumen and Jin, repeatedly saying "Hate hate hate hate hate!" over and over, right before Ragna sacrifices his left arm to turn her back into Noel.]]
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Underneath the mechanical coldness or moments of madness, Mu is lonely and feels isolated from the world. Her hatred for the world is only matched by her hatred for herself. Mu only considers herself a doll - something less than human.
-->''"I'm not human. I'm a doll. A doll. A doll."''
** Moved past in ''Chronophantasma'', since Noel is in control and has realized that a doll with thoughts and feelings is still a person.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: In ''Continuum Shift'', the manifestation of all of the traumatic moments Noel has been put through. It's no longer the case as of ''CP''.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: No one has stood on an even ground with Mu without having sustained life-threatening injuries - Ragna himself was shot by one of her Steins and lost his left arm to save Noel's soul from her transformation into the original Mu. Even a victory against Mu means having to make large sacrifices.
* YouAreNumberSix: Is designated Boundary Interface Prime Field Device –No.12-.
