!!COA
[[folder:General Tropes]]
* ForGreatJustice: COA's ''raison d'etre'' is for the sake of enforcement of justice. This sentiment is shared across all of the playable characters affiliated with them so far, although to different extents.
* GuileHero: All of the playable characters have the brains and wits to help them with their line of work to solve cases and deliver justice. Given that in Cetie's case [[spoiler:he is a Cardinal Vestige agent and his true employers work solely based on cold logic]] and in Isuka's case [[spoiler:her ArchEnemy brother is an internationally wanted criminal prone to CriminalMindGames]], it's pretty much a necessity.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakuyaSato (Japanese), Michael Bodie (English)
An agent working for the Elzion Judiciary. Cetie is a smart man with a strong sense of justice and self-confidence, using his skills in data analysis to help his investigations. He's often seen with his two pods, Clock and Retro.
----
* AloofOlderBrother: An inverted, non-blood related example. [[spoiler:He actively rebukes Hardy's attempts to wrestle him away from Cardinal Vestige, and does not seem to appreciate his adoptive older brother's concern for him.]]
* AntiMagic: The gimmick of Cetie's standard form, as his Valor Chant and mainline skills are designed for INT debuff.
* ButNowIMustGo: Subverted on two accounts in "Forward Unto Dawn" sidequest. First, [[spoiler:following his betrayal against Cardinal Vestige, he decided that he no longer needs to become the Administrator's observer for them and promptly resigns from COA. However, an accident caused by a COA intern renders his resignation letter invalid, and the Administrator asks him to resubmit it if Cetie wishes to... although he would rather have Cetie remain both in COA ''and'' as his observer. Cetie seems to be okay with the arrangement]]. In addition, [[spoiler:in order to keep up TheMasquerade of Cardinal Vestige's existence to prevent KMS from completely taking over the time layer, Midnight Curio asks him and Biaka to continue acting as his agents. Given their shared views regarding humanity, Cetie accepts]].
* CharacterTics: Both Cetie's standard form and Another Style have poses with him swiping his bangs sideways[[note]]as his IdleAnimation in his standard form, and in his battle stance in his AS[[/note]], befitting his character as the "cool agent" type.
* TheComicallySerious: Has shades of this, especially when Cetie's pods are involved. This is cranked even further in his Another Style quest, with him trying to be as professional as possible only to be ruined by his pods (especially Macaron) constantly making fuss.
* CoolBike: He uses one in battle with his Another Style. He even performs one of his unique skills by ramming it into the enemy!
* CustomUniform: Despite the similar design in their overall appearance, Cetie wears a suit and red shirt instead of COA agents' standard white longcoat and black shirt.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: [[spoiler:Cetie's father was a politician who was imprisoned for allegedly involved in a corruption case and died in prison, forcing Cetie and his family to move into slums afterwards. [[ClearMyName Clearing his father's name]] becomes the main motivation on becoming a COA agent in the first place.]]
* {{Determinator}}: He is described by the Administrator as someone who never backs down from a fight in "Forward Unto Dawn", which is also shown in his third character quest where he [[spoiler:resorts to upload falsified traffic data to stop the criminal in said quest, even if it risks ''him'' getting jailed instead should things go wrong]]. Borders on worrying levels considering that [[spoiler:he is more than ready to give his life away if it can accomplish his goal -- whether by taking a possibly poisoned antibody with no cure (it isn't) or becoming the new Cardinal Vestige (meaning that he would be reduced to BrainInAJar and cease existing as person), much to the chagrin of Hardy who just wants to keep him safe.]]
* EasilyForgiven: By the Administrator in regards to [[spoiler:him being a DoubleAgent for Cardinal Vestige and have also worked against the Administrator's goals]]. Justified; [[spoiler:although he gave detailed account of his actions in his resignation letter, with the letter being rendered invalid due to an intern's clumsiness, the Administrator formally has no way of knowing the full account unless Cetie decides to resubmit his resignation, which Cetie decides not to by Administrator's own request for him to stay]].
* {{Foil}}: To Hardy. Both of them grew up in the slums and almost always accompanied by their respective [[RobotBuddy Robot Buddies]] during their mission, and both of them are dedicated to the pursuit of justice. However, while Cetie upholds justice by becoming part of law enforcement and [[spoiler:is a member of Cardinal Vestige (if a reluctant one)]], Hardy is (technically) a criminal who has no qualms on doing shady works, and he [[spoiler:openly rebels against Cardinal Vestige]]. [[spoiler:Which makes sense, given that they're adoptive brothers of sorts.]]
* AFriendInNeed: If the "One Monster Machine" sidequest, Cetie doesn't hold it against Aldo when he unintentionally botched Cetie's undercover mission to capture a modified Turbocharger illegal trader in the sidequest and instead thanked him for helping with the mission still. He also gives Aldo his own personal Turbocharger without second thoughts -- all because he hears Aldo's "friend" (that Cetie ''doesn't know personally'') is a motorbike enthusiast.
* GatheringSteam: The gimmick of Cetie's Another Style skills, even more so after his AS Manifestation is mastered. "Force Assault" deals pitiful amount of damage, but the former is required to gather his Photon Acceleration stacks and charge him with offensive buffs which require three stacks to reach full power. Reach the maximum charge, however, he can possibly wipe the battlefield by using the fully-powered "Blast Drive".
* HeroOfAnotherStory: "Forward Unto Dawn" sidequest reveals that [[spoiler:he, Biaka, and Hardy play their own share in stopping Cardinal Vestige, and it is thanks to them that the Midnight Curio and Isuka ultimately survive -- which allow them to take over the Dawn Cardinal Vestige's role after it was killed by Dawn Curio.]]
* TheMentor: He is one to Isuka while she is interning for COA.
* MiseryBuildsCharacter: [[spoiler:This is the reasoning Cetie gives to Cardinal Vestige to convince them to stop the memory implantation operation towards the orphans in his character quest. As he puts it, just because the children have awful past does not mean their future needs to become awful too, and if anything, the pain can become a fuel to drive them to become better. After all, Cetie himself can become one of Cardinal Vestige's top agents because he has his dark past to temper him, and it would've been a loss for Cardinal Vestige in the long run if they decide to continue with the false memory implantation because the children wouldn't have the necessary qualities to drive them to become better. Given their alleged goal of "for the good of humanity", the Cardinal Vestige accepts his reasoning alongside his proposal to open his own orphanage as the more ethical alternative to the false memory experiment.]]
* NotSoStoic:
** Cetie generally appears calm and collected, but when Clock [[spoiler:gets hacked by the security system of old KMS building]] and proceeds to call him "annoying blonde" in "The Closed-Off Open World and the Azure Rebel", Cetie looks taken aback for a moment. If Retro's comment about the maintenance afterwards is anything to go by, the comment apparently leaves quite a sore spot for him.
** He generally appears indifferent to his pods' antics, but as his Another Style quest and the first chapter of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales" reveal, even they can be a bit ''too'' much for him and he finds himself drained from their antics.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Renri notes in Chapter 5 of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales" that Cetie never takes paid leave during his work. So when she said that he actually did in the chapter and noted the oddity of it [[spoiler:around the same time the Twilight Time Layer's version of Sapient Complex -- which is run by Twilight Cardinal Vestige -- appeared in the Dawn Time Layer, it not only indicates that he (and Biaka) got roped into their work as Cardinal Vestige agents, but also serves as subtle hint that the Dawn and Twilight versions of Cardinal Vestige are in cahoots with each other]].
* OddlyShapedSword: His Manifestation weapon "Crimson Bolt" shapes like a huge, irregular-looking lightning bolt.
* PrettyBoy: He is outright referred to as "pretty boy" in Mistrare's second character quest, and certainly has the looks.
* RedIsHeroic: Cetie primarily has red color theme in his design - his standard form's Manifest weapon is named "Crimson Bolt", while his AS form is named "Crimson Ray". He is also depicted as one of the more morally upright characters in the story.
* RousseauWasRight: In "Forward Unto Dawn" sidequest, [[spoiler:when questioned by the Midnight Curio whether he is going to kill Cardinal Vestige or not, Cetie firmly states that it is only as a last resort, and instead believes that they should atone for their crimes by doing good to make up for their misdeeds. Midnight Curio theorizes this was why Cetie was chosen as an agent of Cardinal Vestige, since such stance exemplifies human virtue that they seek in their vision of ideal human]].
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: Cetie's third character quest has him disobeying Administrator's order to suspend investigation on a child who is a victim of false memory implantation and human trafficking, [[spoiler:since the entire thing is masterminded by [[GreaterScopeVillain Cardinal Vestige]]]]. He proceeds anyway and [[TurnInYourBadge gets suspended for his trouble]], though not before leaving crucial clues for the Administrator to do the rest of the work.
* SharpDressedMan: Rocks a fancy black and white suit.
* SupportPartyMember: Cetie is built to be both damage dealer and defensive support in both of his NS and AS forms.
** In his standard form, several of his skills and his Valor Chant inflict big Intelligence debuffs. If his Manifestation weapon is mastered, his "Vigilant Lance" skill will also grant additional supports such as increased type resistance to the entire party.
** His Another Style is built to deal huge damage to all enemies while also safeguarding the party -- "Force Assault" can heal 15 MP when charged, and "Blast Drive" increases physical resistance of the party while dealing area-wide damage to the enemies. If his AS Manifestation is mastered, he gains ''50%'' PWR, SPD, and critical damage boost on himself when using "Force Assault"[[note]]capping at ''100%'' at maximum stack for his PWR and SPD, meaning that his stats are doubled[[/note]], in addition to the MP heal increased to 15% and maximum HP increment by 1000. "Blast Drive" is also enhanced further to give 50% boost to defense and type resistance to the entire party, in addition to firepower boost that increases its multiplier and hit count.
* SwitchOutMove: His Another Style has a unique skill that triggers when switching with a reserve party member, which transfers both of his active buffs and debuffs to said member.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler:The end of Cetie's Another Style quest reveals that he used to be close to Hardy and was (and for the latter, still is) a foster brother to him of sorts. Right now, though, they're on the opposing sides of the law.]]
* WrongSideOfTheTracks: He grew up in a urban ghetto where crime was rampant, motivating his goal to become a cop.

!!! Tropes that apply to Cetie's pods:
* ActionBomb: Retro's purpose most of the time is to be detonated into Cetie's enemies as SuicideAttack, which becomes part of Cetie's skill. Since its data is located in a central server elsewhere, Cetie can always deploy [[BodyBackupDrive another unit]] afterwards, although Retro will complain about being used in such attack.
* BrainsAndBrawn: Clock's spec is fitted for data analysis, while Retro is more fitted for combat.
* ButtMonkey: Retro, in line to being his main role as ActionBomb. Aside from Clock's frequent insults towards him, Retro often becomes the receiver of many physical violence that certainly would result in AmusingInjuries if he had been human. It doesn't help that Aldo seems to be the only one showing concern for him on regular basis.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Cetie has another drone, Macaron, which is introduced in his Another Style. She constantly fawns over him and proclaims her love for him. When she gets wind that Cetie works with Renri, she immediately becomes territorial.
* DramaQueen: Retro, to some extent. In Cetie's first character quest, it declared dramatically to Aldo that "it was nice knowing him" before charging and blowing itself up in what seems to be a HeroicSacrifice. It's dramatic enough to make Aldo think that Retro is gone for good... until a new body appears shortly afterwards.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Clock may be the "smart guy" of the two and seem to be reasonable at first glance, but as Cetie's Another Style quest reveals, Clock can be petty and competitive upon learning that Macaron has superior specs. In the first chapter of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales", he is also not above to descending into InsaneTrollLogic when Retro throws back his usual "scrap metal" insult back.
* RobotBuddy: Clock and Retro (and in Cetie's AS form, Macaron) serve as this for Cetie.
* SitcomArchNemesis: Clock and Retro do not get along with each other, to say the least, with Clock not above threatening to [[MakeItLookLikeAnAccident sabotage]] Retro at one instance. Their constant bickering also serves as comedy source in Cetie's character quests and "The Closed-Off Open World and the Azure Rebel" episode, contrasting their more serious owner.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: Clock and Retro fit this trope to some extent, with Clock as the straight man and Retro as the comic relief.
* SuperPrototype: Macaron is this for both Clock and Retro, having combat and data analysis specifications those surpass the former two's specs. Just to highlight her superiority, she manages to fly ''all the way'' from Elzion Airport to Nilva by herself in Cetie AS quest.
* UndyingLoyalty: If the ending of Cetie's Another Style quest is anything to go by, all three of them have this towards Cetie, as they declared that they will follow Cetie anywhere.
* VolleyingInsults: Clock and Retro regularly throw insults at each other. Clock always calls Retro with the term "scrap metal" due to its sole purpose as ActionBomb, while Retro always pokes fun at Clock's humorless nature and the fact that Clock is less fitted for combat.

[[folder:Renri]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101030091_base.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:[[labelnote:Click here to see AS Renri]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101030091_s2_rank5_base.png]][[/labelnote]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuriYamaoka (Japanese)
An inspector of the Elzion Judiciary, Renri is a hardworking lawbringer who wants to ensure a fair and impartial justice over the world. Despite her glowing record, her ironclad principles put her at odds with her superiors sometimes.
----
* BadassInANiceSuit: Either she gets fashion tips from Cetie or the black and white suit with a red tie is the standard uniform for COA agents.
* CoatCape: She wears white coat over her shoulders in this way, which gives her classy look befitting an agent.
* TheComicallySerious: She's stern and inflexible even by Elzion Judiciary standards. It makes for ''interesting'' interactions with the fabulously eccentric family of Ciel.
* CriticalHitClass: Renri's Another Style form skill, "Blazing Dance", gives the entire party (including herself) 100% critical rate for their next physical attack when empowered with Flare Passions. Since both of her AS skills hit multiple times, massive damage can ensue when played right.
* ElementalPowers: Renri is the first DPS character to avert this, having an almost fully NonElemental skill kit. This makes her very polyvalent as a damage dealer, at the cost of a lower damage output than her specialized colleagues - although this is rectified if her Manifest weapon is mastered. Her Another Style, however, is specialized in dealing fire damage.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Renri may be obsessive about the rule of law, but even she agrees that [[spoiler:Ciel's family timeline, where ''not looking exactly like everybody else'' and anything cultural is a crime]], is not okay.
* TheFettered: Renri continues to believe on upholding justice despite the system is completely stacked against her. Although on small scale, it all paid off in the end of her third character quest, as [[spoiler:she is able to convince the COA chief to reopen the case of Frontier Dome Incident, and even restores a bit of her boss' former self before he became jaded by how the case initially turned out]].
* GirlishPigtails: Wears her hair like this in her vanilla and Another Style forms, which is probably to exemplify how she is viewed as a naive youth by her superiors.
* KnightTemplar: Renri upholds the rule of law and justice above everything else, circumstances be damned. However, she is more sympathetic than most other examples, as she does it genuinely for the good of people and has numerous PetTheDog moments throughout her quests to ensure that the justice is delivered as it should be.
* InjuredVulnerability: If her Manifest weapon is mastered, Renri's final skill "Lasting Scars" will deal increased damage if the target is afflicted by Pain, and the damage will be amped further for ''every'' debuff inflicted on the enemy, capping at five debuffs to be taken into account. To support this, the upgraded "Lasting Scars" has been given the ability to inflict guaranteed Pain, and her upgraded "Judgment" skill will deal attack, intelligence, AND speed debuffs on the enemies.
* InspectorJavert: She is this in Ciel's Other Tale, being firmly convinced that, despite their quirks, Ciel's family have some skeletons in their closet and won't stop until they're exposed. [[spoiler:Once the truth is revealed, she decides to cut them some slack and help them cover their true origins since they didn't do anything illegal in ''her'' timeline]].
* IWasJustPassingThrough: At the end of Ciel's Other Tale, she decides not to report that [[spoiler: Ciel's family are refugees from another timeline]], on the grounds that it's only her job to report criminal activity. She then insists that she'll stick around to catch them if they do anything illegal, meaning that Ciel's family won't have to deal with a different COA agent moving in.
* PointyEars: It's hard to tell, but the clips she wears on her ears evoke this.
* SweetTooth: To the point one can wonder if her COA colleagues didn't bribe her with pastries to accept the Garden Island assignment.

!!KMS

[[folder:Krervo]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kervo.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuichiNakamura (Japanese)
A young man who is always looking to put his theories into practice. Krervo used to work for KMS, but saddened by the loss of nature in the world, he retired. He now works alone to try and revive the nature that was lost.
----
* CoversAlwaysLie: His artwork represents him throwing vials full of colored liquids, but he's a standard staff user in gameplay.
* GentlemanAndAScholar: Generally acts proper and dignified, while being a scientist that is trying to restore lost nature.
* GreenThumb: He is part of "Natural" research group that is dedicated on the restoration of the surface world, and in general is quite knowledgeable about plants.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: He calls himself a crappy scientist because his research doesn't yield as much results as he would like.
* StatusBuffDispel: His skill "Release" removes all status buffs and debuffs from party members.
* StoicSpectacles: He wears narrow glasses that match his calm and intellectual demeanor.
* WhiteMage: Not as potent as the others, but he's the only healer able to remove debuffs.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nonold Wellstein]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101000211_base.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MitsukiSaiga (Japanese), Claire Morgan (English)
A narcissistic scientist who considers himself a genius. He looks very young, but he was employed by KMS as a researcher until recently. He acts like an insolent child, though it could just be teenage angst. It's certainly true that he is a top-class scientist...
----
* AlwaysSecondBest: He couldn't get better grades than Krervo back in school, causing him to latch onto him as his rival. Downplayed in that while Krervo had better grades, he admits that Nonold was a better genius who was more knowledgeable in numerous fields of study.
* FountainOfYouth: [[spoiler: He's actually the same age as Krervo, but had his age regress due to his experimenting.]]
* GivenNameReveal: Surname, to be precise, in chapter 3 of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales" Mythos.
* ImmortalitySeeker: His goal is to gain immorality so he has time to study all the mysteries of the world. Currently, he can only do it for plants.
* InsufferableGenius: He is both a genius scientist and a smug brat.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his insufferable attitude, he translates in his first quest [[spoiler:the dying words of a cat to his beloved owner.]]
* ProfessorGuineaPig: [[spoiler: He tested on himself on his quest to gain immortality.]]
* ShaggyDogStory: Decides to engineer a formula that makes a flower immortal to a friend of his...only to lose when Krevro just hands her some basic seeds of cloned plants while telling her the beauty of the flower comes from them living for a short time.
* SignatureLaugh: Something around "Ehee-hee-hee-hee!". Apparently, the laugh is creepy enough that Aldo can immediately recognize Nonold's presence in "The Closed-Off World and the Azure Rebel" just from hearing it alone.
* SitcomArchNemesis: He ''loathes'' Krervo to the point you wonder how he manages to breathe the same air than him without having a fit. His hatred dates back to their school days. [[UnknownRival Krervo couldn't care less.]]
* TeenGenius: Despite being a teen, he used to work for KMS. [[spoiler: He's also OlderThanHeLooks.]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/FumikoOrikasa (Japanese)
The eldest sister of Ciel's family, Shannon is a marketing genius who leads KMS's advertising department. Despite her skills as an executive, she is known as a carefree individual once out of her office.
----
* CrazyCatLady: She adopts any stray cat she finds, resulting in her owning a dozen of them. It's no surprise she has the "Cat lover" trait.
* KnightTemplarBigSister: She's fiercely protective of Ciel, both because she thinks she has to as his elder sister [[spoiler:and because Ciel is the only member of the family born outside of the BadFuture where his family comes from]].
* InternalReformist: [[spoiler:At the end of her third character quest, she decides to continue investigating the ones responsible behind the KMS "Disciplinary Scheme" from within, not willing to let them have their way to control the population as they please.]]
* LovedByAll: In her AS quest, the EGPD worship her. They see her logo for the EGPD -- something Aldo said that it looked like a cat walked into a bottle of ink and walked over it -- as amazing, and her giving encouragement to find a bomber is represented as them getting an attack boost, defense boost, ''and'' a Regen! This is even highlighted in the artwork for her Fashion Police job as there are a few EGPD officers rooting for her.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: She's as much as a nutjob than her parents and siblings, but she's also a top ranking KMS executive and a fierce warrior, [[spoiler:handles the machinery of Garden Island, helps the resistance efforts in her home dimension, and seriously considered murdering Renri if she found and outed her family as time-travel refugees.]]
* RoseHairedSweetie: Played with. While her natural hair color is blonde and she can act as [[BewareTheSillyOnes anything but sweet]] when the situation demands it, she is otherwise a playful and amicable individual. Appropriately, her Manifest weapon is named "Sweetheart".
* {{Squee}}: This pretty much sums up her reaction towards Ciel and her own cats.
* WeNamedTheMonkeyJack: She named one of her cats after her younger brother, Ciel.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Xianhua]]
A genius scientist from KMS who vanished a decade ago... or at least, someone by the same name. Though knowledgeable about KMS's inner workings, she rarely speaks about it. Laser-focused on Synth Human and machine life research, she has little interest in almost anything else... aside from gambling.
----
* TheGamblingAddict: A hobby of hers is betting on drone racing. She makes calculated bets on who'll win... only for something unexpected to happen that makes her lose it all. She also ropes Aldo and Galliard into helping her upgrade a bike simulator for a racing minigame under the pretense of "probability research."
* {{Irony}}: She repeatedly emphasizes how emotions can cloud humanity's rational judgment and part of the reason she created Synth Humans was because she seeks to create "perfect" human body free from their physical limitations and emotional influence. [[spoiler:Except as the final part of "A Paradise of Imperfections" revealed, it was her who ultimately caused Proto Eden's mainframe routine to go haywire -- way back from since almost two decades ago -- because she commanded it to finalize the Paradise Project execution in order to save the original Helena from DeathByDespair when the mainframe showed how the scientists caught in the phase shift accident forgot their ultimate goal and descended into infighting in the brink of their deaths.]]
* NonElemental: To illustrate the changes to how the game distinguishes Type Resistance buffs from Magic Resistance buffs, Xianhua specializes in dealing non-elemental magic damage and has a Magic Resistance buff/debuff skill to match.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: She supposedly lost her memory during her time in [[spoiler:Proto Eden, likely due to the phase shift failure that killed everyone except her and the original Galliard]].

[[folder:Melissa]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101020131_base.png]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/AoiYuuki (Japanese), Amy Anzel (English)
A Synth Human developed in secret by KMS. She is a Synth Human that uses many organic parts and is extremely close to a living thing, but her expressions, words, and actions show little sign of humanity. When she has some trouble, she can deploy [=B00=] bee type bits to assist her. \
\
She made her debut during the global version's second anniversary, making her the first playable character to be released ahead of the Japanese version.
----
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:As she treads the line between life and death in her final character quest, Melissa is confronted by apparitions of her growing self-awareness over the fellow Synth Humans she had betrayed and killed, one of which lamented that she should have been the one who died. In the end, after talking with Aldo, she calmly accepts that she will have to pay for her crimes towards her brethren one day, but decides to travel to "find the meaning of life" before that happens.]]
* AlphaStrike: She's designed for this playstyle -- her unique Flash Strike Stance only takes effect on the very first turn of combat, but gives ''every'' attack a significant boost and Another Force bonus, making it possible to crush bosses by unleashing Another Force on '''turn 1'''[[note]]provided they do not have AF stopper, that is[[/note]].
* AnimalMotifs: Bees. Her design is likened to a queen bee, and she can deploy various bee drones to assist her in combat and hijack machineries and Synth Humans alike.
* DamageIncreasingDebuff: Melissa's mainline skills inflict the unique "Break" status that increases damage landed on the target for one attack. If the Break-inflicted enemy gets hit by her mainline skills again, the hit will be a guaranteed critical hit.
* DarkerAndEdgier: According to the interview with the developer, Melissa's character was created with this in mind, which is also helped since she is designed by [[VideoGame/Drakengard3 Kimihiko Fujisaka]]. For starters, her character quest is the first one to openly show ''dismembered Synth Humans'' on-screen, and in her second quest, [[spoiler:the audience is presented with TheFarmerAndTheViper scenario where the "viper" is ''the player's side'']].
* ADayInTheLimelight: Exaggerated -- Melissa's character quests are completely focused on her going about her missions with no [[ChronicHeroSyndrome intervention or support from Aldo]].
* EmotionlessGirl: Described as showing little sign of humanity, and during her quests, she is presented to be nothing but mission-minded. Even as she is killing her fellow Synth Humans, she remarkably lacks any signs of malice.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: As noted above, Melissa is intended for dishing as much damage as possible - if not downright finishing the combat - on her very first move. [[spoiler:Sure enough, in the battles she doesn't finish in one shot in the cutscenes, she gets beaten up...]]
* HunterOfHerOwnKind: She is developed by KMS for the sole purpose of extermination of Synth Humans. [[spoiler:Doesn't matter whether they are hostile or pacifistic towards humans - if they are within her sights, they are as good as dead. She'll even have her bees hack into Synth Humans and brainwash them, to give her an excuse to execute them.]]
* ICannotSelfTerminate: [[spoiler:When her maker orders her to terminate herself, the player is given the prompt "Execute Final Order". She fails to pierce her core multiple times as her subconscious sense of self-preservation forces her to miss.]]
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: Her, of course, in her third mission. But, also Eddie, the Farmer in the above...turns out? She missed a lethal blow.]]
* OneWomanArmy: She is presented as one in her first two character quests, killing massive number of Synth Humans by herself. To support this, unlike other character quests, Aldo is not present with her and she is the only one involved story-wise.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler:As Melissa gradually develops a sense of self, her maker discards her so that he will not have to deal with an AI sentient enough to defy his orders. Thus, as a "show of loyalty", he orders Melissa to destroy herself. He's done the same to all her predecessors.]]

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MarinaInoue (Japanese), Hermione Corfield (English)
An elite female member of a special task force under the direct supervision of the Administrator. Their primary mission is to safeguard Elzion from Synth Human attacks. She is specialized in the use of a massive hammer and yet still leaves her male colleagues in the dust even in situations that require high mobility. All the while keeping a cool and nonchalant attitude. She has a nickname from those who respect her...
----
* BigSisterInstinct: Towards the recurring [=NPC=] child in her quests.
* DeadpanSnarker: She can be pretty snide with her comments, as exemplified with her interactions with [[spoiler:Cetie]] in "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales". In "Forward Unto Dawn", [[spoiler:she snidely asks Cetie whether he is taking his resignation letter from COA back after being late, while also calling him out on his stubbornness.]]
* EmbarrassingNickname: Her "Limit Breaker" title is a RedBaron for others, but it is this for her. She repeatedly asks others to stop calling her with the nickname.
* FugitiveArc: Biaka's Another Style has her becoming a fugitive following [[spoiler:her supposedly betraying against SMU -- namely, by destroying important data related to neural chip manufacturing that will allow its users to control others.]] As it turns out, [[spoiler:it is more of her taking [[IDidWhatIHadToDo rather extreme measure]] to avoid tipping off the villain in the quest, since there is a possibility the villain had implanted {{Manchurian Agent}}s in the SMU. Since there is no way knowing of who had been by the neural chip, [[UnspokenPlanGuarantee Biaka decided that it would be best not to tell anyone of her true plan and play villain]].]]
* GratuitousGerman: Her five-star class and several of her strongest skills are all in German.
* HeadbuttingHeroes: She initially doesn't get along with Helena at all (albeit due to some antagonizing on Biaka's part), though they bury the hatchet by the end of the episode. By "Forward Unto Dawn", they seem to be amicable enough for Biaka to comfortably call her a "friend".
* HidingBehindYourBangs: Half of her face is covered with her bangs, and due to her line of work, she has deceptive traits which is best shown in her Another Style quest.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: What she's hoping for with [[spoiler:Galliard]], whom she met when she was a child. It's made especially obvious if you cast her as Cloe in the Theatre, where she may or may not be projecting onto the role...
* StealthExpert: Her Another Style allows her to enter "Active Camo" state that not only buffs her attack, but also allows her to be targeted less by single-target attacks.
* SuperStrength: She's the [[RedBaron Limit Breaker]] for a reason. To hammer the point down, the end of her second and third character quests has her sending the enemies flying ''literally several kilometers away to the sky''.
* TragicKeepsake: She holds a crystal piece as a reminder of her sister who was lost in the war with the Synth Humans. It also serves as a SecurityBlanket for her, as she has difficulty performing without it. It gets shattered when a Synth Human tricks her to doing it in exchange for a young girl she befriended, but she learns to move forward from it.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Natsumi Hioka (Japanese)
A performer who hails from Nilva and the youngest of five children, Ciel sings soprano and plays the harp. People say that he may be magically gifted at music.
----
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: He's the youngest in his family and makes Aldo his honorary older brother.
* BigBrotherWorship: Even if they're not related, he treats Aldo like this.
* ADayInTheLimelight: "Foreign Skies and the Ship to Freedom" is an Other Tales episode focusing on his family and home life, and rewards supplies used to unlock his 5-star upgrade.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: He looks feminine, dresses in a feminine manner, likes cute dresses and has a higher-pitched voice, but is actually male.
* GirlishPigtails: Crossdressing aside, Ciel sports these in his Another Style.
* TheHeart: Ciel's third character quest reveals that he more or less serves as this [[spoiler:for his own parents. As Shannon reveals at the end of his quest, their parents actually get into huge arguments a lot over the silliest things, but Ciel never saw them fight because his presence alone has a calming effect for both of them]].
* InformedFlaw: His character bio claims he can act rather spoiled due to being the youngest of the bunch and his father also noted that Aldo "must have the patience of a saint" for being able to put up with Ciel all the time, but he never comes across that way in game.
* InstantFanClub: He accidentally formed one for himself in his Another Style quest while singing in Rinde and Unigan due to his singing ability.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: His Other Tales reveal that both his parents and at least one of his sisters are as eccentric and flamboyant as him. His dad is a fashion designer who wears giant butterfly wings as his daily outfit.
* MagicMusic: His singing voice is implied to help people fall in love or feel powerful emotions. He isn't aware of it.
* MeaningfulName: Ciel is from the flying city of Nilva and, according to his parents, the sky was bright blue without any clouds on his birthday. "Ciel" is the French word for "Sky".
* ScaramangaSpecial: Transformable version in the case of his Signature weapon, Apollo's Harp, which can also be used as a longbow.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Renri initially believes that the "real" Ciel was kidnapped and replaced by an imposter, with utter shock that no, Ciel is actually crossdressing and everyone has known this the whole time.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Ciel has no qualms with dressing in female clothing, for professional or personal reasons.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Much like Amy, Ciel is terrified of ghosts. When he caught wind of a possible ghost appearing in the mansion in his Other Tales, he immediately goes crying to Shannon.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MinoriChihara (Japanese)
A woman educated at a magic school who has a deep understanding of many topics from theory to stories. More than just a hobby, she seems to have a special connection to books in particular. As an aristocrat, she has a subdued demeanor, but she can wield a large sword and magical abilities with ease. Not many people in the world know the place that she calls "home."
----
* BigSisterWorship: Though they're not related, she truly looks up to Sophia whom she considers as her sister and will do anything to help her.
* CrazyPrepared: [[spoiler:She stocked up her own ''3 million'' ROC from selling relics of her own lost kingdom in events of whoever bidding for The Shiny People tome decides to play dirty and prevents Sophia from winning it.]]
* EarlyBirdCameo: She appears in Claude's Another Style character quest, five months before she becomes playable.
* ElementalPowers: While her default element is Wind, her signature skill has the distinction of changing its element to match an elemental Zone, which lets her function on nearly any team. Her Ability Board even bestows her resistance to all elements instead of just Earth like the other Wind-based characters.
* FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling: Generally acts as the "foolish sibling" to Sophia's "responsible" in "The Lost Tome and the Silver, Unfading Flower" episode, as she tends to charge head-on and initially assumes the worst of strangers Sophia is with until the latter clears it herself, which Sophia tends to get exasperated at. This is occasionally flip-flopped in the episode, though, as Sophia's desperation also to get the tome tends to drive her to do reckless actions... at which it is Cynthia's turn to call out on it.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: [[spoiler:Cynthia slaps Sophia when she got trapped in her tome again and is on the verge of giving up, reminding her of the time when Sophia saved her even though Cynthia was on the verge of giving up herself back then.]]
* TheGlomp: Does this to Sophia several times in the story.
* GuileHero: She shows off great deductive reasoning ability in her quests. Examples include figuring out where Macminal's runaway drone went after gathering as much information as she could, and why a magical book went around seemingly consuming random townsfolk.
* HotBlooded: Contrasting her graceful appearance, Cynthia is... very energetic, to say the least. She frequently zooms away and rushes into things the moment the lead that can help Sophia appears, much to the latter's annoyance.
* IOweYouMyLife: Basically why she is so eager on helping Sophia. Sophia rescued her from the nothingness she was trapped in sometime before "The Lost Tome and the Silver, Unfading Flower" episode, so now she gives everything to help her.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: wears an ankle-length fancy gown at all times.
* MagicKnight: A downplayed version -- One of her strongest skills gets bonus damage based on her Magic Attack stat, which is otherwise irrelevant for physical attackers.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: She doesn't trust Hardy at all when he just shows up and offers to help Aldo and Sophia in their treasure-hunting, constantly believing that he is up to no good towards Sophia.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: She beats herself up for having a tendency to mess up. Even so, things manage to work out anyways.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: "The Lost Tome and the Silver, Unfading Flower" reveals that she was trapped in a grimoire before Sophia rescued her in the same way the latter did, but unlike Sophia who is clearly been around since at least the Antiquity era, Cynthia's presumed age range is around hundreds of years.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TsubasaYonaga (Japanese), Rasmus Hardiker (English)
A young boy who uses nanotech installed inside him to turn the moisture in his body into steam. He is able to weaponize this steam by manipulating its pressure. However, the process puts a lot of stress on him - he'll lose control if he becomes overwhelmed. He seems all too aware of the fragility of humans.
----
* BrokenPedestal: Regarding the doctor who saved his life as he finds out that [[spoiler:he was merely one of several thousand test subjects being used for callous experimentation to discover who could survive the bonding process with nanomachines.]]
* CannotTalkToWomen: Dewey... is very shy around women, to say the least, to the point he easily gets overwhelmed by his nanomachines whenever he is complimented by them. He also ends up ''passing out'' when Shannon adores him in the chapter 3 of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales" Mythos.
* CharacterDevelopment: Goes through one between his third character quest and his Another Style quest. Not only is he more assertive, he is able to find purpose as HopeBringer to children who are in the same position as he had been, and he is able to gain more nuanced view over the professor who saved his life.
* DelicateAndSickly: [[spoiler:He used to have severely weak constitution to the point of being frequently hospitalized before being cured by Professor Zekir's nanomachines. Because he used to live under the constant fear of his time awake being potentially the last, this contributes to his understanding on how fickle life is, as well as his ability to appreciate it.]]
* FingerGun: As pictured, this is how he forms projectiles from his steam.
* GoldenSuperMode: His 5-star portrait depicts his hair flaring up and turning yellow as he fires a powerful shot. [[spoiler:In his third character quest, this happens as he forcibly overrides the Professor's control over his powers.]]
* HighPressureEmotion: When he's flustered he emits a large cloud of steam. When lovestruck, he emits heart-shaped wisps of steam as well. [[spoiler:The girl he saves in his third character quest also does the same after she successfully bonds with her nanomachines.]]
* {{Nanomachines}}: His nanomachines let him create and manipulate steam, [[spoiler:and they were infused into him as an experimental treatment for a debilitating illness that he suffered from.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: He is frequently mistaken as a pre-teen or a child in his early teens [[spoiler:due to his inhibited growth from his illness]]. He is not amused by it.
* OtherMeAnnoysMe: [[spoiler:He doesn't get along with the Red Clad Flamemancer, criticizing his cold demeanor and his sharp tongue. That said, Dewey still tries to befriend him, even if the Flamemancer actively rebukes him.]]
* PrecociousCrush: He has a crush on the nurse who took care of him in the hospital.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: Dewey is one of the shorter male characters owing to his stunted growth. He also has the "Bookworm" personality, and his AS character quest shows that [[spoiler:he has enough smarts to be able to save Professor Zekir from dangerous situation while utilizing what he has in his arsenal]].
* StraightMan: He often takes this role for Suzette in "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales", being the one who tends to comment on her antics.
* SuperMode: His Another Style has the unique Burst Clock state, which allows him to land guaranteed CriticalHit in ''five'' turns since its activation, as well as additional perks on his skills.
* TearsOfJoy: His AS quest shows that let out one in his past [[spoiler:upon finding out that he truly had been cured from his illness, instead of being discharged due to no longer having chance of recovery as he initially thought]].

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/erina.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShihoKikuchi (Japanese)
Despite being a shaman with strong supernatural powers, Erina will only use them to help others and seems not interested in using them for her own gain. She has been seen at times just talking to thin air. Despite being born into a wealthy merchant family, she's not so good at managing her finances.
----
* BigSisterWorship: She completely adores her dead sister, and always looks up to her for advices.
* ISeeDeadPeople: She's can see ghosts, and is accompanied by the ghost of her dead sister.
* LifeDrain: She stands out from other healers as her main method of attack also heals the party.
* MySisterIsOffLimits: Amusingly, this is the grounds for her banning Aldo from seeing her sister's spirit, since she is worried that Aldo will fall for her sister and Erina does not want to share her sister's love with anyone else.
* RichInDollarsPoorInSense: As mentioned in her bio, she's not that good at managing finances despite her background. She has trouble understanding why it might be a problem that someone is being conned into buying pottery they don't need.
* SimpleYetAwesome: While she may be only a 4-star, Erina's method of healing the party also damages the enemy, thus allowing her to contribute to Another Force extension.
* StatusBuffDispel: One of the few characters who can erase an enemy's buffs and debuffs.

A gunslinger who performs black-ops operations against a dark organization within Elzion. The dog-model robot, Gray, is his one and only true friend. He also goes by the name "Watchdog" due to his desire to guard society against evil doers. He likes to gamble and is particularly fond of card games. People say he cheats all the time which makes him a pretty bad player...
----
* AlphaStrike: Hardy's Another Style is the second unit that can deploy Flash Strike Stance after Melissa, and his kits are meant to maximize use of Another Force on first turn. The effect of "Gray Assault" is doubled while the zone is active, while the damage of "Desperado" is increased further based on AF combo rate.
* AnimalMotifs: He has very clear-cut motif of dogs. He is called as the "Watchdog" and has canine RobotBuddy, and he has certain degree of loyalty towards the organization he belongs to. Unsurprisingly, in a game full of cats as its prominent feature, he is treated by distaste by some characters in the story.
* BigBrotherInstinct: [[spoiler:What motivates Hardy's rebellion against Cardinal Vestige is to free his adoptive brother Cetie from their clutches.]]
* CanineCompanion: Doubling as RobotBuddy, his cyborg hound Gray is this for him, and they have been together since he was a child.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Like Melissa, Hardy's AS quest has him running around by himself without Aldo.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He made his first appearance in Cetie's Another Style quest before making his proper debut in "The Lost Tome and the Silver, Unfading Flower" episode.
* {{Foil}}: To Cetie.
* TheGamblingAddict: He likes to gamble, which probably contributes to his constantly money-less state. Even the otherwise loyal Gray is not amused at this fact, since it will constantly pounce on Hardy every time he mentions about gambling ''despite this trait not being written in its AI''.
* TheGunslinger: Hardy uses gun in battle. Although mechanically he is classified as a Fist-user, this is reflected in some of his skills those have piercing attributes instead.
* HiddenDepths: He is a SweetTooth, surprisingly. He can also be seen hanging out in La Vie En Rose.
* HostageSituation: [[spoiler:His final character quest reveals this is why he rebels against Cardinal Vestige among others, since Cetie is being forced to work with them and he wishes to release his brother from their grips.]]
* LaResistance: [[spoiler:He is one of those who openly rebels against Cardinal Vestige.]]
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Similar to Felmina, despite being classified as Fist user that normally has blunt-type attacks, some of Hardy's skills have different attack type (piercing) to reflect his gun usage.
* StatusBuffDispel: A variant. He is one of the only two characters with ability to remove active Zone so far, the other being Anabel AS.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: [[spoiler:At the end of AS quest, he muses about taking some time off to visit Garulea Continent, and definitely not because he is curious about the well-being of the girl she was supposed to guard in said quest. Nope, definitely not the case.]]
* SwitchOutMove: Like AS Cetie, Hardy's Another Style also has a passive skill that allows him to transfer buffs and debuffs to reserve party member when switching with them.
* WeUsedToBeFriends:
** [[spoiler:As noted above in Cetie's entry, Hardy and Cetie grew up together in the slums and Hardy considers Cetie as his adoptive brother of sorts. As it is now, though, they're on the opposing sides of the law.]]
** Talking to him in La Vie En Rose reveals that he and Gord used to be close and they used to have sweets together in La Vie En Rose regularly, but they drifted apart after Gord fell from power.
* WrongSideOfTheTracks: Like Cetie, he grew up in slums where he had to resort to everything to survive. Unlike the former, however, this fuels his distaste for authorities, as the authorities do not care about slum dwellers since they're not registered to Elzion's system anyway.

While she is a simple person with a calm personality, she has also been gallant and brave since she was young. She gained these characteristics from the training and lesson taught to her by her father, a martial artist. However, her father left for some reason six years ago... Now Kikyo lives on her own making a living by doing various jobs here and there.
----
* BlowYouAway: Her skills are Wind-based.
* CoolBike: She uses one in her Another Style. In her AS quest, she uses it to transport [[spoiler:the former test subject woman who was about to be auctioned in Elzion's Auction House]].
* DisappearedDad: Kikyo's father disappeared sometime in her childhood, and his whereabouts gained quite a focus for a good part of Tales from the East Part II.
* DoppelgangerAttack: Kikyo's mainline skills allow her to create a copy of herself that not only strengthens the power of said skill, but can also be used as SingleUseShield that takes damage for her before disappearing.
* LoopholeAbuse: Played with. In her AS quest, [[spoiler:after delivering the subject woman to her client, the woman requested to hire Kikyo for a job to rescue her. The client remarked that she was still under his contract which means she can't accept her job as a professional, to which Kikyo said that she already delivered the cargo and hence free to take on other jobs. After the dust is settled though, she admitted that said client was right and the job wasn't properly done. So, that while saving the woman was the right thing to do, she still failed as a jack-of-all-trades.]]
* RingsOfDeath: Her weapons. Due to the standardization of the weapon classes, however, she is classified as an axe wielder instead in-game.
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:After learning what happened to her father and had him die in front of her when they were finally reunited at last, Kikyo holds Delamair responsible for his death. 346An athlete from an Eastern plate who idolizes samurai. A recent grad, he can still be immature, but he's skilled enough to have won several championships in the East. Highly sociable, he has plenty of friends, but the real challenge comes from accepting his... unique sense of taste.
----
* BizarreTasteInFood: As his first character quest shows, Oboro has ''extremely'' bizarre preferences for food, often combining spices ''with sweet desserts''. To note some of his self-admitted favorite foods: sausage with chili mayonnaise sauce and ice cream, chili udon with red bean paste and soybean flour, mustard mayo mitarashi and pepper bean jam, and herbal chocolate sorbet. [[NoJustNoReaction Aldo reacts accordingly.]]
* AFriendInNeed: Doesn't spare second thoughts to help Aldo's party and Kikyo [[spoiler:to infiltrate the KMS Eastern Underground facility]] despite the potential punishment, simply because they're his friends.
* GadgeteerGenius: His RobotBuddy are constructed by Oboro himself, with Nyanmaru being the first he constructed while he was a child. Justified, since robotics class are mandatory for children in Eeza.
* HeroicBSOD: The end of his second character quest has him falling into a huge one after [[spoiler:the samurai girl that he has a crush on decided to go through with her family duty as daughter of a rebel and willingly gets executed after she failed, with Oboro cannot do nothing but watch as she dies in his arms. He spends most of his third character quest questioning whether his dream of becoming a samurai amounts to nothing, before he finally snaps out of it when being faced by a terrorist in Satellite Stadium who wishes to bring back the MightMakesRight value.]]
* LightningBruiser: Oboro is neither the strongest nor the fastest in terms of stat, but his kits give him buffs those ensure that he can go faster and packs bigger punch. Combined with Thunder zone playstyle, this means he can hit his target ''a lot''.
* NonIdleRich: "A Paradise of Imperfections" reveals that Oboro's parents are important officials of Sky Fortress Eeza, and he certainly has no qualms on helping people out.
* OddFriendship: He manages to befriend [[spoiler:''[=Lea-BAK=]'']] of all people, for a certain degree of "friend" given the latter's personality.
* RobotBuddy: He is always accompanied by three cat-shaped flying drones named Nyanmaru, Nyansuke, and Nyankichi, although he is mainly seen with Nyanmaru.
* ShoutOut: Named Oboro with a RobotBuddy...hold on, Oboro isn't short for [[VideoGame/LiveALive Oboromaru, is it?]]
* {{Squee}}: If the player has Stellar Awakened him and he is in the party while interacting with a cat, he will loudly proclaim how cute they are (in Japanese) and photograph the cat (in both Japanese and English).
* ShockAndAwe: He has Thunder affinity and also a Zone deployer for it. His kits also encourage having awakened Thunder zone, since they deal even bigger damage in it.
* {{Unishment}}: In "Coexistence" sidequest, he is given task to lead PR campaign of the Synth Humans' technology from KMS Eastern Division as punishment for [[spoiler:helping Aldo's party to infiltrate the KMS Eastern Underground facility and botching Delamair's plan]]... except it doesn't seem much like a "punishment" given that his status as the son of Eeza officials means KMS can't do much to punish him. Probably helps that he himself seems to be enjoying the work.

* AnthropomorphicPersonification: [[spoiler:Philo is not actually human - rather, he is a spirit born from the World Tree based on its specific memory regarding Benedict. The World Tree mistook Benedict's repeated attempts to cut it down as his way of communicating with it, so Philo was birthed by the tree to carry the (misunderstood) will to bridge communication between humans and the World Tree.]]
* AmbiguousInnocence: Philo has childlike nature both in terms of appearance and his train of thought, and with Aldo occasionally having to point out certain things to him suggests that he is quite sheltered. However, in the end of the third quest, he declares without hesitation that he will cut down those who get in Aldo's way, calling into question just how much the concept of innocence applies to him.
* DifficultButAwesome: Philo's Another Style is capable of hitting like a truck, and this is also helped by him having natural base PWR at whopping '''311''' -- making it the highest in the entire game so far. However, maximizing his damage requires rather complex setup that necessitates him to not only stack his personal buff (which grants additional PWR by 25 for each stack), but also meeting specific conditions during the battle.[[note]]Discounting his personal buff stacks, damage bonus of "Monde Enlisant" delays his attack and requires him to ''not'' get hit until his turn, and bonus for "Branche Coupee" requires the AF bar to be at 100%. Said conditions also rely on the player using him outside Another Force.[[/note]] Pull it off, however, and he can wipe the entire battlefield by himself -- "Branche Coupee", in particular, can gain multiplier up to whopping '''60x'''.
* HeroicWillpower: In his Another Style quest, [[spoiler:he manages to withstand the darkness from a dying ogre and even makes it a part of him instead of corrupting him. Yes, the same darkness that corrupts the World Tree into the Tree of Woe ''for several thousand years'']].
* LikeCannotCutLike: [[spoiler:The reason why he constantly fails to cut down actual trees but can cut tree-like ''monsters'' just fine in his quests. Being an AnthropomorphicPersonification of the World Tree itself, Philo is similarly bound to the rule of nature to not harm fellow plants.]]
* MakingASplash: Philo's skills are water-based.
* MeaningfulName: Philo's 5-star class name, "Ameretat", is the Avestan language name of Zoroastrian divine concept of immortality. [[spoiler:It hints to his nature as the AnthropomorphicPersonification of the World Tree, known as the Tree of Eternity in the Future era - or at least a certain fragment of its memory.]]
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Despite his small stature, Philo can swing an ax as long as his height is with ease. His character quest reveals that he can lift ''his own grandparents'' without trouble. This is emphasized even further in his Another Style, with him having the highest base ATK to date.
* SupportPartyMember: Like Cetie, NS Philo is half this and half DPS, as half of his skills will grant various buffs to the entire party such as increased critical rate and type resistance while also dishing out damage. Furthermore, if his Manifest weapon is mastered, his "Gran Arbe" skill gives guaranteed critical to all party members at the start of the turn and his "Fruits of Desire" skill increases damage of characters wielding Slash-based weapons.

[[folder:Pom]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pom_350.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Hisako Kinmoto (Japanese)
Pom is a researcher from Elzion that invents potions and tests them on other people without their permission. In particular, she's trying to develop a love potion.
----
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Pom is, for all intents and purposes, a brilliant researcher especially when it comes to potions (after all, one of her medicines is used as part of IDA School clinic treatment). The problem is that she is a bit ''too'' obsessed with playing cupid, and if it's not for the fact that her quests are PlayedForLaughs, her tendency to test her medicines on her unwitting friends is worrisome.
* HarmfulHealing: Her Profane Medicine skill heals HP on top of bestowing a simultaneous Intelligence boost and magic defense penalty. It also affects everyone (including the enemies), turning them into a magical GlassCannon. This crosses with DifficultButAwesome - if Pom is given enhanced Power of Pain/Poison and casts Profane Medicine, she can actually apply Poison/Pain to her own party members on command. While normally this can be bad, it sees use in certain strategies where teammates are equipped with "When user poisoned/in pain, damage +50% equipment" that can cause DPS to skyrocket. It is also worth noting that the Pain and/or Poison inflicted by her can also act as "shield" to prevent the enemies from inflicting their own version of Pain and Poison towards the party, many of which has large enough fixed damage to wipe out the party in post-game contents.
* HospitalHottie: Pom can be considered this, since going through IDA School Part 2 (indirectly) reveals that she has huge cult-like fan club, with her uniform as attributes related to said fan club.
* LoveFreak: She's obsessed with love, and helping other people develop it. Except instead of being hopelessly naive like normal for this trope, she's a mad scientist.
* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: As noted, she tends to use her friends (Aldo, in this case) as (unwitting) test subject for her potions. While her character quests end in positive note, the fact that the potions have rather extreme effects those could have gone wrong[[note]]in the second quest, for instance, has her making potion to put the subject into ''temporary death-like'' state[[/note]] stands.
* SayItWithHearts: She likes to pepper her dialogue with heart symbols.
* UnwittingTestSubject: Since no one would ever agree to do her tests if she told them about it, she tends to to present her concoctions as something mundane, like medicine or water.
* WhiteMage: Most of her skill set is devoted to healing; she only has one attack skill.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101050111_base.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukariTamura (Japanese)

A girl who was seriously injured in an accident and most of her body was mechanized. She says her brain has been severely damaged and the "auxiliary brain" implanted at that time is creating the current premature personality. It is said that the current personality disappears when the original personality wakes up...
----
* {{Cyborg}}: Much of Premaya's body is mechanical. This includes an auxiliary brain with an AI in it to drive around the body if need be.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Premaya starts out aloof and even warns Aldo not to get too attached to her due to her mission - and even seems to pay no mind about her impending deletion. By the time of her third quest, however, [[spoiler:she has fallen for him and wishes to continue living to make new memories with him, and also vows to raise the alternate Premaya responsibly because she sympathizes with her other half instead of merely fulfilling her mission]].
* DishingOutDirt: Her offensive skills have Earth affinity.
* TheDogWasTheMastermind: That glob of liquid metal that Premaya sometimes sends out [[spoiler: actually contains the consciousness of the man who turned her (and Rovella) into a cyborg into the first place.]]
* MirrorBoss: [[spoiler:The playable Premaya has to fight her other personality by herself to stop her from crashing the Elzion to the surface at the conclusion of her third quest.]]
* ServileSnarker: In her second quest, Premaya willingly go along with Aldo - her self-designated "Master" - to help the NPC in that quest, but not without giving him some ribs regarding his meddling nature.
* SupportPartyMember: She can be fitted into one if necessary, as half of her skills include various buffs to strengthen other party members (e.g. MP regen).
* WaveMotionGun: Premaya's second-to-last skill "Annihilation" is one, forming gigantic laser beam that deals piercing damage to all enemies but also (normally) preventing her from taking action afterwards.
* WomanChild: The alternate Premaya. Whenever she emerges, she clings onto Aldo, calling him 'papa.' [[spoiler:Doubles as [[PsychopathicManchild Psychopathic Womanchild]] in Premaya's third character quest, as she is a little ''too'' eager to complete the Professor's experiment - even if it means killing the main Premaya and crashing the entire Elzion plate to the surface.]]

[[folder:Rovella]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rovella.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HirokiYasumoto (Japanese)
A "professional" who takes on jobs with his electronic bow, Rovella is a former soldier who got discharged after a battle with Synth Humans. Equiped with cybernetic augmentations to boost his aptitudes, he will do whatever it takes to finish a job.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: In Premaya's third character quest, [[spoiler:he showed up just in time to temporarily disable Premaya's other personality when her powers caused massive outage in Elzion and threatened to crash the entire plate to the surface]].
* {{Cyborg}}: As he puts it, he's technically half human, the rest being cybernetic.
* DeathSeeker: In Chapter 5 of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales", [[spoiler:he charged by himself to the Twilight version of Sapient Complex with the apparent intent of finally dying. Premaya calls him out for it, especially because he previously told her to live as human.]]
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Aldo thinks he has one. Rovella viciously denies it.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Rovella would kill anybody, family and pets included, as long as someone is willing to pay him the right price.
* PetTheDog: Despite his gruff appearance, he seems to deeply care for Premaya. In chapter 5 of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales", he tells Premaya to live her life as a human [[spoiler:before making his intended death march to the Twilight version of Sapient Complex]], and a mini-event available after completing the Mythos has him comforting her when she questions how much of her humanity remains.
* VenturousSmuggler: Since he'll do any job if the price is right, he does a lot of smuggling missions.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rufus_17.png]]
-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ToshiyukiToyonaga (Japanese)
Rufus is a self proclaimed hero from Elzion, whose fists burn with justice. He gets wrapped up in all sorts of trouble while pursuing heroism.
----
* AscendedFanboy: He modeled his combat style and uniform after his favorite character, and his inspiration for being a hero.
* HeroicWannabe: As he will quite loudly proclaim.
* {{Manchild}}: It's not lost on those around him that his attitude is befitting of a little kid. On the bright side, children think he's cool for that reason?
* StockShonenHero: Has the attitude, being HotBlooded and always proclaiming that evil will never win. He and Aldo get along famously.

[[folder:Sophia]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/101030141_base.png]]
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/RieTakahashi (Japanese)
A woman who came to the Auction House in Elzion in search of specific book. She speaks with a hint of indifference and rarely shows her emotions. Where her left eye would be grows a silver flower. Though she can appear cold and aloof, she has a bit of an attitude when it comes to books. She has been traveling for an unknown amount of time and has learned many things across uncountable eras. Yet, little is known of her origins.
----
* AndIMustScream: She spent ''at least 20,000'' years being trapped in the nothingness within her book before she somehow broke free sometime before the start of "The Lost Tome and the Silver Unending Flower" episode.
* CoolBigSis: Although they are not related, Cynthia certainly looks up to her and is devoted to her cause to reclaim her stolen book.
* LastChanceHitPoint: She can give the "Hold Ground" buff to the entire party, which will allow the party to survive an otherwise fatal attack. She will also start with the buff active during combat.
* LivingMacGuffin: The flower in her left eye socket is one of the reasons why she had been sought after for her powers, as the text written using its ink allows to rewrite reality to certain extent.
* MeaningfulName: Greek for "wisdom," her name is befitting for someone who has lived thousands of years and is knowledgeable about many things across multiple eras.
* MysteriousWaif: The most clear-cut example of this trope in the entire game so far. Even after the conclusion of her episode, much of Sophia's origins remain unclear other than she has penned "The Flower Girl" books the player came across throughout the game, and the flower is related to her long life and its ability to rewrite reality.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: She has been around since at least Antiquity era.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Despite appearing uncaring, she has plenty of moments of kindness. Notably, despite her annoyance at Cynthia's tendency to rush into things, she also deeply cares for her.
* SupportPartyMember: Much like Mana, she only has one minor attack skill, while the rest of her skills are dedicated to heal and buff the party.

-->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SumireUesaka (Japanese), Creator/SkyeBennett (English)

Suzette is a young girl from Elzion who is supposedly a reincarnated spirit from the demon realm and the possessor of a "cursed" eye that lets her sees the supernatural. She can be foul at times, but will always aid others in need.
----
* AnimeHair: Suzette's hair is styled in a pair of large twintails. Her Another Style instead ties it into a huge, curly ponytail that resembles a tornado.
* BioAugmentation: [[spoiler:She's the result of Project Eugenes, an experiment done by Lab 2 of Sapient Complex to tamper with genetics in order to develop superhumans. Her mind couldn't handle the experiments and her growing powers, causing her to break free, burning the lab down in the process.]]
* BirdsOfAFeather: [[spoiler:Despite the rough start thanks to Suzette being, well... Suzette, she eventually gets along well with Tiramisu in the latter's Another Style quest due to their love for sweets (i.e. puddings) and their own nature as powerful warriors, to the point she calls Tiramisu as her "soul-sister".]]
* ChargedAttack: Her Another Style allows her to inflict multiple Wind stacks on one enemy, then spending them all with another one. The resulting damage is so high AS Suzette can alone wipe even bosses in a few turns.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: She thinks quite highly of herself. There's also the issue of her supposed origin as the dark princess of the Netherworld [[spoiler:which is both a coping mechanism and an excuse she made up for the genetic experiments done on her]].
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: [[spoiler:She spends the entirety of AS Tiramisu's character quest being firmly convinced that she has walked into the filming session of a movie based on Tiramisu's story in the Future era instead of being thrown into spacetime tear and ending up in Antiquity. She is also firmly convinced that the Tiramisu she met is an actress and believes her to be unworthy of such standing, much to Tiramisu and Aldo's exasperation.]]
* DarkIsEvil: PlayedForLaughs. When her AS quest concludes with her being cast as the villain, she's perfectly fine with it, despite Aldo's concerns, as evil suits her Princess of Darkness image better than good.
* DualWielding: As shown in her Extra Style illustration, she dual-wields ''hammers'' in said form. Said hammers can also be combined into one during her EX attack.
* EdibleThemeNaming: [[spoiler:The scientist who created Suzette named all of her subjects after desserts - Madeleine, Blancmange, Stollen, etc.]]
* ElegantGothicLolita: She wears a very frilly, elaborate dress. Her Another Style trades it for a luxurious kimono.
* EscapedFromTheLab: [[spoiler: She had a meltdown and destroyed the lab she was being experimented on as a child.]]
* HeroicBSOD: PlayedForLaughs in the first chapter of "The Apex of Logic and Cardinal Scales", where she is rendered catatonic upon hearing the newest cake in La Vie en Rose is out of stock. It takes [[NotSoAboveItAll Isuka]] [[LargeHam calling out to her using summoning ritual-like chant]] to snap her out of it.
* InjuredVulnerability: With her vanilla version's True Manifestation mastered, Suzette's "Dragon Assault" skill hits much harder on enemies inflicted with Poison or Pain. To support this, her "Demonic Thrust" skill is upgraded even further to inflict guaranteed Poison AND Pain, which also last for five turns.
* LargeHam: She can't help but act overly dramatic.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: The end of her main quest reveals that [[spoiler:she didn't lose her memories again, but she pretends that she did to make Aldo happy]].
* RightForTheWrongReasons: She ''is'' special. She just isn't what she thinks she is.
* SweetTooth: Can't resist the temptation of sweet things. Her first quest has her riled up when hearing her favorite pastry shop is out of business due to delivery issues. It's something she got from her creator.
* TheStoic: [[spoiler:Once her BioAugmentation kicks in, she becomes this and tries to go back to KMS until her "normal" personality takes control again when she is about to kill Aldo.]]

Yazuki is a member of the Sea Cats, a sky pirate crew who engages in cat burglary. She has faced off against the Elzion guards many times. She goes at full speed all day every day and will stop at nothing to get to whatever she wants.
----
* FashionableAsymmetry: She wears a black stocking on her right leg and a knee high sock on her left, [[AmbidextrousSprite unless she’s facing right]].
* JustLikeRobinHood: She considers herself to be like this, although she acknowledges that most pirates aren't heroic.
* SkyPirate: She used to be one, but her group disbanded due to advances in teleportation technology making sky piracy unfeasible.

[[folder:The Mass-Produced Robots]]
A group of eight combat androids with unknown origins and only faint memories of who they are.
----
* ComMons: They're the Future set of 3-star characters. They have little to no use expect padding the roster or filling a gap in your party until you can get a 4-star character to replace them.
* PaletteSwap: They use the same sprite, with only their weapons, color and the shape of their heads varying.
* StoryBreadcrumbs: Each of the robots has a different line of the same story stored in their database, which can be viewed in their profile.
