[[folder:Kaito Ayatsuji]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AtsushiOno (Japanese), Luis Galindo (English)

A normal human who is famous for being able to match Blazers with just pure swordsmanship.
----
* AmazinglyEmbarrassingParent: When he finally wakes up from his coma, he immediately asks Ikki to marry Ayase and take over the dojo. Ayase immediately issues a DopeSlap.
* BadassNormal: Unlike Ikki, who at least has some minor physical enhancing abilities; Kaito is a true example due to being an ordinary human who is able to fight Blazers with his own swordsmanship skills.
* BloodKnight: Being a RetiredBadass, he doesn't get to participate in many sword fights. When he fights Kuraudo, he's actually thankful he can fight once more.
* CounterAttack: His swordsmanship is based on countering the enemy.
* GoodParents: One of few known examples in the series, while Kaito trains Ayase in order for her to takeover the dojo, he is nevertheless a caring father towards her.
* HandicappedBadass: Is still able to land a hit on Kuraudo despite his heart disease which has been severely weakening him.
* HiddenDepths: Although his sword style is for the purpose of protecting others, he's been longing for a WorthyOpponent.
* MasterSwordsman
* RedBaron: Is known as "The Last Samurai", which is appropriate in the setting of the story.
* WeakButSkilled: The ultimate example due to being an ordinary human.
* WorfHadTheFlu: Downplayed. Even if he was in his prime, beating Kuraudo might be out of the question due to the latter's insanely fast reflexes.

The strongest Blazer and swordswoman in the world, as well as an invincible criminal. [[spoiler:She's also one of the strongest Desperados.]]
----
* AffablyEvil: Subverted. If it weren't for her temporary alliance with Rebellion, it'd be hard to tell that she was a rogue Blazer rather than an ideal knight. Although, she couldn't care less about their plans and is just returning a favour. She's not exactly evil, per se. She just happens to be a criminal.
** Outside of battle, she's actually a nice person. It really makes you wonder what exactly happened 15 years ago that made such a person become the no. 1 criminal in the world, [[spoiler: considering she actually let Ikki, Stella and co. stay at her cottage when they went looking for her.(After she put them in a contract that is.)]] and one of her hobbies is making sweets during her free time. On the other hand, she's probably killed a lot of people for varying reasons. And when asked why she took up swordsmanship, her answer? She needed it for diet. Yep, you read it right people, the Best Swordsman in the World picked up the Way of the Sword because she was getting fat as a kid.
* BeatThemAtTheirOwnGame: When Ikki tries a Vibroweapon technique on her, she sees through it and uses a stronger version of that technique, meaning she essentially used [[AwesomenessByAnalysis Blade Steal]] on ''him''.
* CurbStompBattle: Delivers one to Ikki, who knows he can't win and only tries to stall her so Shizuku can save Alice.
* CurbstompCushion: [[spoiler: Ikki not only manages to survive her strongest attack, he actually manages to wound her. A few drops of her blood are found on the pavement where she stands.]]
* TheDreaded: Even Kurono is terrified of her.
* DualWielding: She wields two swords gracefully, giving her the illusion of having wings.
* LightningBruiser: Even Ikki can't follow her movements, despite being able to see through the techniques of some A-rank Blazers.
* MasterOfYourDomain: Her swings are faster than most people can perceive because she moves all her muscles in a specific way. Just partially copying this technique allowed Ikki to become achieve SuperSpeed without Ittou Shura.
* MasterSwordswoman: This is an {{understatement}} considering Ikki could only scratch her at best.
* MeaningfulName: Edelweiss (Leontopodium alpinum) is a white flower that grows in the Alps and is a symbol in that location.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: While she's not evil, her favor to Rebellion causes her to fight Ikki, which resulted in him learning her swordplay and muscle techniques. [[spoiler:Several of his opponents would have been impossible to beat if it weren't for these skills.]]
* NobleDemon: She actually doesn't care about Rebellion's agenda and is only helping them out because of a favor they did for her. She offers to let Ikki and Shizuku retreat because they have no hope of winning.
* RazorWind: She can create damaging vacuums in space with nothing but strength and precise swordplay.
* SuperpowerLottery: Zigzagged. [[spoiler:She's a Desperado, but her Noble Art doesn't enhance her combat ability.]]
* SupremeChef: Her pastry skills are good enough to impress Ikki, who normally doesn't like sweets.
* SweetTooth: A very big one. [[spoiler: In fact, the reason why she picked up swordsmanship was because her family was worried she was getting fat because of all the sweets she ate when was younger.]]
* VillainRespect: Edelweiss uses her strongest technique to defeat Ikki, out of respect for his swordsmanship and determination. [[spoiler: He manages to see through it, survive and draw her blood.]]
* WeakButSkilled: Downplayed in comparison to other [[spoiler:Desperados. Her Noble Art can only make death contracts, which have little application in battle, meaning she can only rely on her swordsmanship and powers common to all Desperados.]]
* WingedHumanoid: Takes on metallic "wings" as part of her ultimate attack.
* WorldsStrongestWoman: In terms of wielding a sword, though it's unknown if she's the strongest Blazer period.

[[folder:Prime Minister Tsukikage Bakuga]]
The current prime minister of Japan.
----
* AffablyEvil: Nobody who meets him in person would ever think he'd be a man who would side with terrorists [[spoiler:as part of a convoluted plan to join the Union]]. Even Kurono, who has hard evidence, found it hard to believe. He uses this to his maximum advantage to give Akatsuki good PR.
* CrystalBall: His device is a crystal ball that can see past and future events.
* DevilInPlainSight: He happily acknowledges his horrific behavior, but nobody believes him until it's too late.
* EvilOldFolks: He was Kurono's teacher when she was in the Blazer academy.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:Despite Akatsuki's loss, he's hopeful that Ikki's potential as a Desperado will increase Japan's chances of surviving the next world war.]]
* InsaneTrollLogic: [[spoiler:His plan hinges on the unlikely event that the Union welcomes Japan despite his collusion with Rebellion, a terrorist organization.]]
* KnightTemplar: He is so absolutely convinced in Japan's utter superiority to the rest of the world that he truly believes igniting world war three by engaging in horrific criminal activity is truly in the best interests of Japan and its citizens, going so far as to say the territories conquered by Japan in world war two (Hawaii, the Philippines, and large swathes of Chinese soil, among other things) are Japan's territory by birthright. He is then completely incredulous when anyone points out the obvious flaws in this world view. (Like the fact that the "Japanese strength" he's boasting about is actually the strength of an international group of terrorists, most of whom aren't Japanese to begin with, and that the "weak" students who were brutalized were the very Japanese, he boasts are superior.) [[spoiler:This is a facade for his true goal of getting Japan to join the winning side of the next World War, though he fails to see a [[InsaneTrollLogic major flaw in his plan]].]]
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Played with. He's less personally antagonistic towards the protagonists compared to the Kurogane Clan and [[EqualOpportunityEvil doesn't discriminate based on rank]], but his plan does have some dark ramifications, [[spoiler:since it would result in Japan joining the imperialistic Union for the sake of minimizing their casualties in the inevitable world war]]. He's also more willing to work with terrorist organizations like Rebellion to get what he wants. In contrast, the Kurogane Clan just wants to maintain the [[OrderIsNotGood social order]] of Japan, but brutally oppresses low-rankers out of fear that any success on their part could disturb that order.
* ObliviouslyEvil: He can't begin to comprehend how ordering a terrorist attack on a school in his own country, and on students composed almost entirely of his own citizens is a bad thing. He does acknowledge that it's unpleasant to be attacked but completely fails to see how the attack itself is wrong.
* PresidentEvil: He was elected Prime Minister, and Kuruno points out in volume 5, chapter 1 that his personality is exactly the same as Prime Minister as it was when he was her teacher.
* ShutUpKirk: Pulls this on Kurono when she confronts him regarding his plans to ignite world war three by using Rebellion and Akatsuki to commit terrorist acts.
--->'''Tsukikage Bakuga:''' "Things have reached the point where I can not be stopped by a simple school teacher like you. Know your place, and do your duty as a school teacher should!"
* StoicSpectacles: He wears glasses, and does not show emotion.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:His Noble Art predicted that the Union and League would go to war, resulting in the Union winning and destroying Japan. By forming Akatsuki, he hoped to ditch the League and join the Union to prevent Japan's destruction.]]

An A-Ranked Blazer in the League of Mage-Knight Nations and also a former fourth-ranked in KOK A-League known as the Black Knight. She's also Or-Gaule's sister.
----
* CainAndAbel: She's the Abel to Or-Gaule's Cain, wanting to put an end to her brother's evil.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Like her brother, she has white hair. [[spoiler:She's also a Desperado who has broken the chains of fate, granting her far greater magic power than even the strongest of normal Blazers.]]
