This page details the Successors of ''Code:Vein'', Revenants or Lost that bear pieces of the Queen's body inside of their bodies. ''Beware of spoilers''.
----
[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder:In General]]
* AppendageAssimilation: The Queen Relics that they bear constantly corrode both their physical being and sanity, effectively turning them into new Queens once the assimilation is completed. Holding more than one Relic inside one's body greatly accelerates this process.
* FisherKing: Each Successor was given the ability to alter their Crypt, i.e. the place they'd spend the rest of their unlife hanging out in, to their particular tastes. This was explicitly so they could make it into a place that put them at ease, in order to help maintain their sanity as their Relic tried to break free of their bodies. As they began to lose themselves however, this ability had the opposite effect, spreading their unique corrupted influence to the land around them. A normal mountain range became a unnaturally frozen labyrinth, a once green city became a barren desert after winds spread salt over it, etc.
* HumanityEnsues: Zigzagged. Unlike in the case of [[spoiler:Eva Roux]], whose transformation could be undone since they were only recently turned into a Successor, the rest are permanently stuck inside their new bodies. Their sanity can be restored if the Protagonist purifies their Vestiges prior to defeating them. [[spoiler:In the "Dwellers in the Dark" ending, the Successors' bodies are returned to normal, due to the fact that all the Relics were pulled out of their bodies, and thus ridding them of their transformed selves]].
* ReducedToDust: What every Successor ultimately becomes [[spoiler:if the Protagonist cannot/does not save them, in addition to them dying. Despite all of them being rather large, the resulting ash pile is always tiny by comparison]].
* ResurrectiveImmortality: Much like Revenants, the Successors can come back to life -- albeit ''extremely'' faster than Revenants or any Lost can. The only way to actually kill them is to destroy the Relic inside their bodies, but the Relics are extraordinarily durable and can't be destroyed by conventional means.
* SuperpoweredMook: Some of them are Lost, but they're exceedingly powerful because [[SealedEvilInACan they've been grafted with pieces of Cruz's body]]. The ones that avoided becoming Lost have gained particular powers and abilities based on the Relic they bear.
* SoulJar: Because Cruz was effectively immortal, even though she was killed during Operation Queenslayer [[spoiler: by the Protagonist]], her body had to be separated to prevent her from coming back. The Successors are Revenants possessed a high affinity for the Q.U.E.E.N, making them the perfect vessels for Cruz's pieces. Even after they lost control, the resulting Lost still keep the Relics contained.
* ThemeMusicPowerup: Upon reaching the second phase of their respective boss fight, their original BattleThemeMusic goes away while ''Heir of the Shingai'' kicks in, signifying the Successor is now pulling out all the stops to kill you.

[[folder:Successor of the Ribcage]]
!!Successor of the Ribcage
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ribcage.jpg]]

->Blood Code: Queen's Ribcage

The Successor that awaits in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood. A giant creature with a wolf-like head and four arms and two legs, it stands before the protagonist and company as if to block the door to the cathedral.
----
* AngryGuardDog: Guards the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood, and the door leading to the chamber below.
* BodyHorror: Her humanoid hind legs are facing upwards, in the opposite direction of her torso.
* BossArenaIdiocy: She would be almost unstoppable if her arena didn't have large pillars in it, giving the player cover from her barrages. She attempts to mitigate this in the second phase by casting attacks that go around the pillars, but they still offer good cover regardless.
* ElementalPowers: Can use [[FireIceLightning multiple elemental Gifts]] such as [[PlayingWithFire fire]], [[AnIcePerson ice]] and [[ShockAndAwe thunder.]] In the second phase of the fight, she uses all of them at the same time.
* FrickinLaserBeams: The unique Gift of the Queen's Ribcage Code is Twilight, which fires a powerful electric beam that can burn down enemies from the edge of your lock-on range (and anything in front of or behind them).
* GlassCannon: She uses a variety of powerful elemental Gifts to fight you, but has lower defense and health compared to most bosses. Good luck getting close enough to her to actually hit her in the first place though.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Has four arms and uses them to cast powerful elemental Gifts to attack.
* NonHumanHead: Disturbingly, it has a wolf head with the body of a female human on her back.
* SquishyWizard: The Queen's Ribcage Code has fantastic Mind and Willpower stats at the cost of atrocious Vitality and Fortitude.
* UndyingLoyalty: [[spoiler: Willingly become a Successor despite knowing the risk and effect of becoming one just to protect Karen from harm.]]
* WeaksauceWeakness: In defiance of all logic in a Souls-like game when confronted by a boss with superior firepower, the best way to safely take on the Successor of the Ribcage is to get as close to her as possible. Specifically, she is mostly immobile throughout most of the fight, making it so that the player could sneak up behind the boss and [[GroinAttack literally smack her in the lady parts]] over and over again until she dies. She also has very little in the way of defense, as both of the attacks that could hit a player shanking her behind have obvious telegraphs that could simply be dodged out of the way in an instant.

!!Successor of the Breath
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/code_vein_2019_10_10_15_56_02_07_6_33_screenshot.png]]

->Blood Code: Queen's Breath

The Successor that awaits in the Ridge of Frozen Souls. A large animated suit of armor whose helmet is adorned with large antlers that awaits the protagonist and company among the frozen wastes.
----
* AnimatedArmor: There doesn't appear to be anything visible underneath his bulky armor outside of his glowing eyes.
* AnIcePerson: He uses a lot of ice attacks, such as pulling giant icicles from the ground with his headbutt and creating several homing projectiles of ice that is suspiciously identical to Mia's Guard of Honor. [[spoiler: Justified since his real identity is Nicola, the younger brother of Mia.]] The Queen's Breath Code also imparts several ice-based skills to use.
* CripplingOverspecialization: The Queen's Breath Blood Code has a fantastic A-rank Strength and Mind stat but D-rank in almost every other stat. It compensates for this lopsided stat spread with its own Gifts -- particularly Juggernaut, that lets you swap from a bruiser with average mobility to a MightyGlacier.
* {{Expy}}: of [[Franchise/FullmetalAlchemist Alphonse Elric]] by virtue of being a sweet, self-sacrificing little kid who is closely bonded with his elder sibling and, most notably, has his soul trapped in a giant suit of armor.
* ForcedTransformation: [[spoiler: while he was initially too frenzied to comprehend his transformation into a Lost, Nicola is more than happy to remain a big and burly knight forever if you restore his memories. Talking to him after achieving the "Dweller In The Dark" ending will have the kid express disappointment that his body reverted back to his original, diminutive form.]]
* TheJuggernaut: The namesake of the buff unique to the Queen's Breath Code, which raises your physical defense and stagger resistance -- almost making you ImmuneToFlinching -- at the cost of your mobility and elemental defense.
* LightningBruiser: The Revenant's Ambition passive from the Queen's Breath Code raises your weight capacity, letting you use heavier equipment without overburdening yourself and losing mobility. Play your cards right and you can use some powerful weapons and armor while still within the threshold for Quick mobility.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Wields a large, circular saw-edged shield that is genuinely functional and reduces all damage coming to his left side, but doesn't actively use it for blocking. He will just use it to bash your face in.
* MightyGlacier: Has plenty of health and hits hard but is rather slow. He becomes much faster once he ditches his heavy shield and [[TurnRed powers up]] though.
* MonsterKnight: He resembles a giant armoured knight with four glowing eyes and antlers, giving him a certain nobility. [[spoiler:A consequence of Nicola's desire to grow up to become a strong knight in order to protect his dear sister Mia.]]
* MorphicResonance: [[spoiler:Nicola wore a backpack shaped like a rocket ship, which was incorporated into his Successor form as an functional jetpack]].
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: An armoured knight with four eyes, a sawblade shield, moose antlers and ''a jetpack.'' Justified as it's the creation of [[spoiler: a little boy, who would find this sort of thing cool.]]
* ShedArmorGainSpeed: He discards his shield and begins using his jetpack in the later portion of his fight.
* TheOneGuy: The only male of the Successors that are fought, [[spoiler: until the player runs into the Skull King]].
* TurnRed: Once his health is depleted enough, he will ditch his shield and power up, becoming much faster in attacking with the use of his jetpack.
* UseYourHead: One of his attacks is a quick headbutt. Him having one antler on his helmet gives the attack a bit more reach than it usually would have.

[[folder:Successor of the Claw]]
!!Successor of the Claw
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/claw_8.jpg]]

->Blood Code: Queen's Claw

The Successor who inherited Q.U.E.E.N.'s claws. It has deep red claws that shine like a crimson flame and two tails. Its head is fully masked, meaning that its facial expressions are unreadable, but the prey reflected in its eyes is undoubtedly invited to death.
----
* AbortedDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler: During her memory sequence post-battle, she clearly begins a LoveConfession to Yakumo, but is fully turned to stone before she can finish it, making it an InterruptedDeclarationOfLove. However, if you fully restore her memories to save her, Yakumo will ask what she was going to say. Emily sheepishly declares that she's always loved... his onigiri. Yakumo clearly gets what she was trying to say anyway]].
* DualWielding: Uses a wakizashi and a katana. You get to use the katana itself once you defeated it, which is called "Blazing Claw".
* {{Expy}}: The boss fights a lot like the Dancer of the Boreal Valley from ''Videogame/DarkSoulsIII''; walking on all fours, having fire moves accompanied by a flaming sword which gets used more in a second phase, and ambiguously sexy parts. [[spoiler: Similarly, both were the results of cruel experimentation, the former by Juzo Mido and the latter by Pontiff Sulyvahn]]
* GlassCannon: The Queen's Claw Code has a fantastic spread of attacking stats, both in the physical and magical department, at the cost of atrocious Vitality and average Fortitude.
* MsFanservice: Cat characteristics aside, she has a curvy physique, huge breasts and strikes sexy poses. [[spoiler: Emily Su's human form is also quite the eye candy herself, wearing a near skin-tight top with large breasts.]]
* {{Nekomata}}: Its mask resembles a cat and it possess the distinctive two split tails.
* PlayingWithFire: Wreathed in flames and uses a variety of fire based attacks. The Queen's Claw Code also imparts several fire-based Gifts for you to use.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: A giant gas-masked CatGirl that also happens to shoot fireballs, be a super-agile predator, and also fights like a {{Ninja}}. Compared to the Successor of the Breath, this one doesn't exactly get an explanation [[spoiler: given that Emily Su was merely a Revenant soldier. At best, one could figure she was inspired by Yakumo's likes in an odd way.]]
* TragicMonster: [[spoiler: Emily Su was transformed into the Successor as an experiment by Juzo Mido, who lost control of herself and attacked the party. Thankfully, the Protagonist can intervene and save her, allowing her to regain her sense of self in her new Successor body... or just put her out of her misery]].

!!Successor of the Throat
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/code_vein_2019_10_11_23_40_07_02_2_6_screenshot.png]]

->Blood Code: Queen's Throat

The Successor that was recently sent into frenzy by Mido and awaits at the Crown of Sands. An angelic figure with a flower in one of her eye sockets, purple halo-like appendages sprouting out of her shoulder blade and [[spoiler:Eva Roux's entire human body embedded within its torso, embraced by a second pair of arms]].
----
* ChargedAttack: The Queen's Throat Code can impart Dark Shout onto the protagonist, which dramatically increases the strength of the next Dark offensive Gift they use.
* DishingOutDirt: She attacks primarily by flailing giant sand claws and creating sharp blades from the sand.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: As seen below in HumanityEnsues, they can be restored back to their original Revenant form. [[spoiler: Turns out that in the GoldenEnding, so can the other Successors once the Relics are finally pacified by the Protagonist once and for all.]]
* HumanityEnsues: If the Protagonist restores [[spoiler:Eva Roux's]] Vestiges in time, they not only get their life and memories back, but they're also restored to their former glory as a Revenant, instead of being stuck inside a Successor body. This can be explained as the party being able to provide treatment for [[spoiler: Eva Roux's]] recent transformation much earlier, in contrast to the other Successors who were permanently mutated into their forms by the time they were encountered.
* InPlaceOfAnEye: The Successor of the Throat who serves as the boss for the Crown of Sands area and [[spoiler:who is a transformed Eva Roux]] has a flower growing out of one of her eye sockets.
* ManaBurn: Her attacks cause the Leak status, depriving you of Ichor and the ability to use Gifts.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: She has two pairs of arms, [[spoiler:one of them is holding Eva's body inside her chest.]]
* SquishyWizard: The Queen's Throat Code has A-tier Mind and Willpower scaling, but is D-tier everywhere else -- you'll need a stat-boosting passive to ensure your character can access a good variety of equipment. The Queen's Throat stands out among other caster Codes with a Quick base mobility that lets you become a FragileSpeedster with average-weight equipment (whichever you can use).

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maxresdefault_3_2_9.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''The Virgin Born'']]
The mutated form of [[spoiler:Gregorio Silva]], and the source of the Red Mist separating Vein from the rest of the world. Juzo Mido forcibly introduces more Relics into the Successor's body so as to render him too insane to maintain the Gaol, and under the Queen's corruption [[spoiler: Gregorio]] is reduced to a bloodthirsty beast. [[spoiler:In all endings except for "Heirs", the lupine Lost summons the remaining unclaimed Relics throughout the land and absorbs them all in a last-ditch effort to preserve itself, transforming even further into a nearly-complete Queen.]]
----
* BloodyMurder: After he TurnsRed, his sword swings are followed by blood trails.
* BookEnds: The first Successor the party encountered was the Successor of the Ribcage, which looks like a wolf merged into the body of a woman. The Skull King is a werewolf-like creature. Both bosses are also fought in two phases.
* DualWielding: With a {{BFS}} in each hand.
* EldritchAbomination: The Virgin Born form, owning to its alien appearance.
* FinalBoss: The Skull is the final enemy players need to defeat in order to complete the game. At least for the "Heirs" ending.
** TrueFinalBoss: As the Virgin Born. After the Skull King is defeated, [[spoiler:Silva]] loses control of the Relic of the Brain and draws in countless other Relics, resulting in an EldritchAbomination that [[spoiler:signifies the Queen is dangerously close to being revived]].
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: A minor case, but the Skull King was originally a Revenant who utilized a Type Hound Blood Veil. As a result, he is the only Successor who uses their Blood Veil.
* LightningBruiser: The Skull King is very fast, and can catch unprepared players off guard if they aren't careful.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: The Virgin Born's lack of weapon, greater size, and vastly different skeleton is one reason why it's considered difficult for some, as it's quite different from everything else you've fought up to this point.
* MonsterProgenitor: Zigzagged. The Successor of the Blood was the first Successor to exist, but [[spoiler:Silva was the one who ordered the creation of other Successors, with him being the first and most important to undergo the process of becoming one]].
* NoSell: Both the Skull King and Virgin Born are immune to StatusEffects and highly resist elemental damages. While the Skull King is weak to Fire, Ice and Electricity, the Virgin Born resists all elements, including Blood.
* OneWingedAngel: After his initial defeat, [[spoiler:Silva]] pulls more Relics into his body and turns into the monstrous Virgin Born.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Ironic considering he's [[OurVampiresAreDifferent a vampire-like creature]], but the Skull King looks like a hellish werewolf slash Cerberus monster whenever it uses its Blood Veil.
* XenomorphXerox: The Virgin Born's appearance has elements of a Xenomorph Queen.
