Akari is the main heroine and Ruby and Labra's human partner. She is 12 years old (after episode 17) and a student in the 6th grade of Winston Academy. She's a shy but gentle girl understanding of those around her. Because of her older sister's popularity, Akari has an inferiority complex and is jealous of her sister.

She meets Ruby who tries to convince her to come with her to the Magic Academy. However Akari is hesitant, as she doesn't believe she can be friends with someone like Ruby. When they come to understand each other better, a Jewel Charm materializes in Akari's hands. She then enters the Magic Academy and becomes a student there, with the goal of winning the Jewel Star Grand Prix. Her main dreams are to be with Yuuma and to become a manga artist.
----

* ClassicalAntiHero: She's very insecure and has instances where she just wants to give up being a magician.
* ColorCodedEyes: It's fitting that the hero with an enormous magical potential should have such a rare eye colour as green.
%%* CuteClumsyGirl
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler: Played with: She ends up getting possessed by the Battest in episode 51 after it passes on from Alma to her, but she faints right after. And she is shortly revived by Fealina’s smile spell after, so it’s unknown if her personality would had been affected or not.]]
* EvilCostumeSwitch: [[spoiler:Gets possessed by the Battest in episode 51, turning her outfit black and gaining black wings. However, she falls unconscious instead of developing an evil personality.]]

* HeightAngst: In the opening sequence, Akari scrambles to cover her height (153 cm), but this is never addressed in the series proper.
* TheHeart: As the most emotionally-sound member of the group, she tries to make sure that her classmates acknowledge and resolve their problems and that everyone gets reasonably along, particularly when it comes to Miria and Sara.
* HowDoIShotWeb: When she started out at the Magic Academy. She gets better as she obtains Jewel Stones.
* IdiotHair: She has a cowlick that stands prominently atop her head.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: She has an inferiority complex because of her famous older sister, so she feels like she's distinguishing herself by attending the Magic Academy.
* IntergenerationalFriendship: With Judy, who's 12 years older than her.
* InTheEndYouAreOnYourOwn: [[spoiler:In the end, she is the only one who can save Alma from the Battest. Her friends try to lend her some outside support by protecting her with their magic, but it doesn't do much good.]]
* IWillWaitForYou: [[spoiler:At the end, she's waiting for Ruby to come back from her quest and come see her again.]]
* LateForSchool: She misses the ''entire first period'' on her first day of school thanks to Ruby's antics.
* MeaningfulName: 'Akari' can mean 'light'.
** LightIsGood: And as the typical heroine, she is very kind and understanding, even bothered to
* MessianicArchetype: [[spoiler:She never stops believing in Alma's inner goodness, even when it leads to her getting physically possessed by the Battest.]]
* MightyWhitey: She's the only explicitly Japanese student in the Magic Academy; she enrolled rather late and utterly fails at spell-casting in her first attempts, but she has an enormous talent for it and has become the most powerful wizard come the end of the series.
* MotorMouth: Sometimes does this when she's particularly nervous, especially when it's about Yuuma.
* NaiveNewcomer: She's initially completely out of her depth when she comes to the Magic Academy. Of course, she didn't even know magic was real or that Jewel Land existed until that day.
* PersonalityBloodTypes: A - has a hard time talking to people but is very understanding of their problems.
* PinkHeroine: She has pink as part of her everyday outfit and transformation ensemble.

* RedIsHeroic: Has reddish-brown hair, is the hero of this season.

* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: Not as much as Sara, but she's still pretty reluctant when Miria dresses her up in a bikini and a cheerleader outfit.

* TheUnfavourite: Constantly obfuscated by her sister (she thinks).
* UnwantedHarem: In episode 45, five boys accidentaly come under the effects of a love potion and fall for her, which makes her uncomfortable to say the least.
* YouAreNotAlone: [[spoiler:Delivers this speech to Alma in episode 51.]]
* YoungestChildWins: Her big sister Monica is a celebrity, but that's nothing compared to going on an adventure of self-discovery in a magical land.

Miria is Garnet's and Sango's human partner. 8 years old, Miria is an American girl who lives in Hollywood and loves anime, manga and dressing up. She considers herself a "Kanzen Muketsu Bishojo", (translated in English as "Knock-out Marvelous Beauty") and has a crush on Leon. Miria often brags about her magical skill, and can sometimes be a bit irresponsible when using her magic (though she does learn from her mistakes). She misses her parents, a singer and a manager who are constantly away due to work. She dreams of becoming a pop star like her mother.
----

* CosplayOtakuGirl: She constantly wears cat ears and likes manga.
* CuteLittleFangs: To underline her haughty personality, and they go with her cat motif in general.
* DeclarationOfProtection: To the whole school when it's endangered by her haywire spell in episode 4.
* DisappearedDad: We never see him, though he is mentioned.
* DumbBlonde: Downplayed; she's stubborn, unwilling to listen to others and shows that she doesn't study a lot, but is more than capable of holding her own throughout her magical studies, and gets to reach the Jewel Star Grand Prix quarter-finals for it.
* {{Eagleland}}: She's from America and has the stereotypical loudmouth attitude.
* ExpressiveAccessory: Her cat tail twitches when she's in an excitable mood.
%%* FunPersonified
* GenkiGirl: Miria is the most energetic out of the main trio.

* InnocentBlueEyes: Blue eyes and one of the heroes.
* InSeriesNickname: KMB. Or "Kanzen Muketsu Bishojo".
* JustAKid: Sometimes, she's condescended upon by Sara for being a kid.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Little Twinkle Star"
* LethalChef: Her food looks good, but is really ''freaggin''' terrible.

* TinyTyrannicalGirl: Downplayed; she's bossy and assertive for her age, but doesn't use physical violence, and she tones down the act as the show goes on.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: Her mother is a singer who seems to always be on tours. Also the case with her father, even if he's only glossed over. Their prolonged absences generate much of Miria's angst.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Literally hates snakes.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sara]]
!!Sara
!!!Voiced by: Azusa Kataoka (Now Azusa Enoki)
[[quoteright:309:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sara_jt.png]]

Sara is Sapphie's human partner. 13 years old, she's an Indian girl with red eyes and blue hair who is considered a prodigy in the Magic Academy. She takes a scientific approach to magic, and sometimes comes up with never-before-seen spells by experimenting. She lives away from her parents and doesn't talk much, which makes her come off as aloof. Both Nicola and Miria think she's weird, but Akari thinks Sara is a nice person inside, although she doesn't show it. Nicola considers her both a rival and a potential LoveInterest, though Sara is ignorant of this. Her dream is to be a famous scientist and to see her parents again.
----
* AbsurdPhobia: She has an odd fear of mushrooms and completely spazzes when she sees one. This is the same girl who thinks snakes are cute. She's very afraid of mushrooms because of the little gills under their caps and will invariably do a WildTake if she sees one.
* AmbiguouslyGay: She blushes a lot around Akari and has shown literally zero interest in guys, not even realizing Nicola's feelings for her.
* AwesomeButImpractical: She invented a defensive spell that can change the nature of dangerous offensive spells to harmless ones. She uses it in her fight against [[spoiler:Laiya]]; however, her magical resilience is pathetic compared to Laiya's, which, added to the heavy toll that the spell takes on her, means that she can't keep the spell up for too long and eventually she loses. That said, she's buying time for Akari and not aiming for the win.
* BadassBookworm: She's a genius scientist and a high-level mage at the same time.
* BespectacledCutie: She's a smart and introverted CuteBookworm who wears glasses.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: She's the quiet kid of the Magic Academy, but she's no doormat and she has high levels of intelligence and magic.
* BlueMeansSmartOne: Sara is a TeenGenius who likes science, especially chemistry, physics, and inventions, and is constantly reading magic books. Her magic and knowledge are the highest in Akari's class. She has blue hair, her magical girl outfit is blue and her Jewelpet is the blue-themed Sapphie.
* BollywoodNerd: She's the class genius and, according to a piece of AllThereInTheManual info, is partially Indian.
* ButNotTooForeign: She's half-Indian, half-Japanese.
* ColorMotif: Her magical girl outfit is blue, her hair is blue and she's associated with the blue-themed Sapphie.
* CuteBookworm: She's a cute young scientist who loves reading magic books.
* DeadpanSnarker: She makes sarcastic remarks sometimes, the most frequent target of it being Miria.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She starts becoming more sociable once Akari breaks through to her.
* DeterminedDefeatist: [[spoiler:She knows she can't win against Laiya, but chooses to fight instead of forfeit in order to weaken her and give Akari an advantage.]]
* EmotionallyTongueTied: In her own words, she doesn't know how to say sorry.
* FriendlessBackground: She coops herself up in a laboratory all day both in the human world and in Jewel Land, and never cared about making friends until Akari came along.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Nicola. He sees her as a rival, but they're on friendly terms.
* TheGlassesComeOff: She doesn't wear glasses as a magical girl.
* IdiotHair: {{Inverted|Trope}}. She has a cowlick atop her head, but is TheSmartGirl.
* ImprobablyHighIQ: She has an IQ of 240 according to the text seen in the OP.
* IneffectualLoner: The teachers say that while she's a genius academically, she can't reach her full magical potential because of her lack of friends.
* InformedFlaw: The Japanese website calls her clumsy, but in the anime she gives no signs of being such.
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: She prefers to do research in her personal laboratory instead of hanging out with other people.
* ItWasAGift: She got a pot of flowers from her parents.
* ItsAllJunk: She throws the pot of flowers she got from her parents out since the fact that the flowers are dead causes her so much pain. Akari retrieves it and tries to figure out a way to revive them.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: She's a TeenGenius who is usually seen wearing a lab coat.
* TheLancer: While Miria is on equal footing with her in the team dynamic, Sara is the better foil and complement to Akari due to being closer in age and having the "darker" personality. She even compares herself to the villain at one point.
* MinorLivingAlone: As a result of her parents leaving for a long time with barely a word, she chose to live by herself.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: After being abandoned by her parents, she tries to have no emotional attachments so she won't get hurt again.
* NightmareFetishist: She pets a snake while commenting on how cute it is.
* NotSoStoic: Her emotions occasionally slip through her stoic mask, especially around Akari.

* RedEyesTakeWarning: Subverted, she's a good girl despite her aloof exterior.
* RedOniBlueOni: The calm, intelligent to Miria's loudmouth and stubborn red.
* ReiAyanamiExpy: A young stoic girl with a SugarAndIcePersonality who has short blue hair, red eyes and pale skin.
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: The Grand Prix competition forces her to wear Merry's fanservicey clothes. Also, Miria got her into a cheerleading outfit and a bikini by way of magic.
* ScienceWizard: She's expert on using magic with chemistry and magical physics.
* SheCleansUpNicely: She usually dresses in discreet clothes plus a lab coat. When she's put in one of Miria's dresses, the other characters comment on how beautiful she looks.
* ShipperOnDeck: She supports Akari/Yuuma.
* ShyBlueHairedGirl: She has blue hair, although she's less shy than she's introverted and incapable of relating to people (until Akari came along).
* TheSmartGirl: With her absurd IQ, Sara manages to be not only the most intelligent girl in her little circle of friends, but also the whole academy.
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses: The glasses are an appropriate attire for TheSmartGirl of her team who is considered a prodigy at school.
* StoicSpectacles: She's the calmest and most collected of the main characters, and also the only one who wears glasses.
* StoneWall: Her defensive spell renders her completely stationary and unable to attack, relying on the opponent depleting their magical power.
* SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic: She treats magic like science.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: She's very coolheaded and reserved, making others see her as coldhearted, but she reveals her warm and sweet side to Akari.
* TeenGenius: She adores magical physics and has the maximum grade in every test.
* TsurimeEyes: She has slanted eyes to match her aloofness.
* WhenYouComingHomeDad: A particularly extreme example as she hasn't seen her parents in ''years'' because they work abroad. She clearly wants to see them again, even if all those years have left her so jaded that she won't admit it.
* WildTake: She doesn't often showcase the typical anime reactions, given her serious demeanor, but get her near a mushroom...

Leon is Dian's human partner and the oldest student in the Academy, at 15. Hailing from Austria, he has high awareness skills through magic and is an excellent swordsman, a skill which he combines with magic. His pen turns into his sword and he uses it in every battle. Miria has a crush on him and he admires Akari's determination in her magic studies. His past is tragic due to the loss of his dog, Roger, during his childhood, just before he met Dian. Dian encourages him to cheer up and never become depressed or shameful in front of the grave of Leon's departed pet. Leon's dream is to be the leader of Jewel Land and improve the relationship between the human world and Jewel Land.
----
* TheAce: He's the most well-balanced among the students; great at magic, swordplay, academic, is mature, reliable and gets along great with everybody. He's even the first of the group to get all 12 Jewel Stones.

* CanineCompanion: Had one who died to save him. He met Dian shortly after.
* IneffectualLoner: The Fountain Dragon says this is what's keeping him from getting his 12th Jewel Stone; he's just so well-rounded that he never ''needs'' any help, and therefore doesn't truly know the feeling of trusting his comrades.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Modeled after this ideal with his blonde hair, blue eyes, TheAce status, and BadassCape as a cherry on top.
* LovableJock: The most physically-minded of the students; he's also a very NiceGuy.
* MagicKnight: Impressive magic skills combined with sword-wielding proficiency.

Nicola is Titana's human partner and the youngest of the students. He's a genius pianist from Russia and a smart aleck who annoys people with his boasting and condescension. He believes only Sara can measure up to him in magical knowledge.

He has a bad relationship with his mother, an elitist who demands that he do nothing less than his best lest he embarrasses her in public. After another bad encounter with her, Titana showed up on his piano and complimented his skills, causing Nicola to cry with joy that someone appreciated his work and accept his offer of attending the Magic Academy. His dream is to be recognized as a famous pianist and to make his mother proud of him.
----
* AllThereInTheManual: His being from Russia isn't mentioned in the show proper.
* AlphaBastard: Until he became sympathetic and supportive.
* BrattyHalfPint: He's an annoying and arrogant kid with an "I'm so much better than you" attitude.

* DisappearedDad: His mother is behind a lot of his motivation but his father goes unmentioned.

* InsufferableGenius: He's among the best students and likes to rub it in people's faces.
** TooCleverByHalf: Despite that, he is still the season's ButtMonkey. He's also the first to lose in the Grand Prix.
* ItsAllAboutMe
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Nicola is a real jerk in the first episodes, but as we discover more about him, he reveals himself to be sympathetic and supportive of his friends.

* MouthyKid: He's a brat, but he's still among the smarter characters.

* UnknownRival: Considers Sara his greatest rival. She doesn't acknowledge it.

Judy studied in the Magic Academy 12 years before the start of the series. Akari met her in episode 8 when she time-travelled to the past through the magic of the Academy's bell, which Judy used to ring. Judy's insecurities were very similar to Akari's, and they inspired each other to do their best in the Jewel Star Grand Prix. And so Judy became the champion of her year. Her Jewelpet partner is Prase.
----
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Her lack of confidence makes her a mirror of Akari.

* PhenotypeStereotype: Blue-eyed blonde, probably hails from Europe.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Only appears in episode 8, but was such a source of inspiration for Akari that her presence is felt throughout much of the season.

Akari's family is composed of, aside from herself, her parents and her older sister Monica. Her father is a ship architect and her mother is the chief editor of a magazine. Monica attends the same school as Akari and is student council president; additionally, she has a job as an idol.
----
* TheAce: Monica is seemingly great at everything she does.
* BumblingDad: Akira at first seems lazy and unattentive.
* CoolBigSis: Monica is very kind and proper, concerned about her sister and admired by all of her schoolmates.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Episode 11 for Akira, episode 30 for Marie, episode 33 for Monica.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Some female students at Winston Academy have this reaction to Monica.
* HenpeckedHusband: Marie has a tendency to order Akira around to which he complies.
* HiddenDepths: Despite how he is at home, Akira's episode reveals that he is quite the competent and beloved worker.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: None of them are aware of Akari's adventures in Jewel Land, and think Ruby and Labra are normal pets.
* {{Nepotism}}: Monica had a lot of help from Marie's position at a magazine in becoming an idol. She is aware that it gives people in the business certain ''impressions'' of her and she tries to break out of them by doing her absolute best at any job she's given, as shown in episode 33.
* NiceGirl: Monica. Becoming famous hasn't stopped her from working for the improvement of her school, and she worries that she's not able to spend time with Akari.
* ParentsAsPeople: Akari perceives her mother as neglectful of her. As the series goes on, it is shown that this is not really the case; Monica's career needs high-maintenance, but that won't stop their mother from caring for Akari when she's truly distressed.
** Akira seems to be pretty much emotionally absent from Akari's life, though that can probably be partially blamed on the fact that he's the least developed character in Akari's family.
* ThemeNaming: The mother and the eldest daughter have foreign names (Marie and Monica) and the father and the youngest daughter's names are anagrams of each other (Akira and Akari). Also, alliteration.

Fealina was [[TheArchmage one of the most powerful magicians]] in Jewel Land. She made a wish to Jewelina to go to the human world and meet a human with strong willpower. Jewelina warned her against it but allowed her to go. Fealina fell in love with a man of the human world, married him and had children with him. In order to stay in the human world without dying, Fealina attempted to use the Battest to take away her magical nature and turn her into a normal human. She couldn't control it and had to sacrifice herself to seal it again. Her resting place is in a dimension adjacent to Jewel Land. Fealina's Jewelpet partners were Opal and Angela.

* MissingMom: [[spoiler:She's the mother of Yuuma and Alma, and died when they were little.]]
* PosthumousCharacter: She died in the show's backstory. [[spoiler:Fortunately it's reversible.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: Strongly associated with purple, having purple hair and eyes, she was one of the most powerful magicians in her time.
* SilkHidingSteel: She's a motherly and soft-spoken type, and also one of the most powerful mages ever, having risked her life to stop an artifact containing all the Dark Magic, and succeeding.

Alma is Diana and Opal's human partner and the main antagonist. Alma watches over Akari from the moment she steps into the Magic Academy. For some reason, greatly resembles Yuuma.
----
* TheAce: She's good at everything she tries to do in the OVA. In the series proper, she throughly ''destroyed'' Leon and Hilde, in the Jewel Star Grand Prix.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Was shunned in the human world for showing her magical powers.
* AntiVillain: [[SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains Type II.]] She's not a horrible person, she's just saddened and enraged at her destiny; the only times she's genuinely evil are when she's possessed by the Battest, which is a sentient, but not rational, ArtifactOfDoom.
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Looks exactly like Yuuma, but under the boyish clothes is a girl.
* BigBad: Is one of the series.
* BirthmarkOfDestiny: The key to the Battest is sealed in it.
* BraidsOfAction: Wears her hair in a braid when masquerading as a boy.
* BrokenBird: Being forced away from her family and learning about her mother's death left her bitter, asocial, aggressive and vengeful, but deep down she's still a good person.
* BrokenTears: Several times - Opal's death, Yuuma's refusal, Diana's death...
* ButNotTooForeign: Half Jewel-Landian.
* CastFromLifespan: Some of her more powerful spells are stated to shorten her lifespan.
* CombatPragmatist: In the Jewel Star Grand Prix, she doesn't hesitate to use harmful spells on her opponents even though it's specifically forbidden to do so.
* DarkMagicalGirl: She's a jaded and slightly evil but tragic magical girl, in contrast to the heroic, naive and unsure Akari.
* DeathGlare: Occasionaly. The most noticeable instance is in the OVA, where she scares off a group of students who were badmouthing Akari.
* DemonicPossession: Gets possessed by the Battest and becomes more powerful, even injuring Leon during the Jewel Star Grand Prix.
* DePower: Loses her magical powers at the end.
* DespairEventHorizon: Lost her mind and will to live when Diana died, thus letting the Battest do as it pleased.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: The opening of the OVA suggests this of the female students of Winston Academy. Doesn't happen in the OVA proper though.
* FelonyMisdemeanor: In the OVA, hearing the other students criticize Akari's drawings causes her to go on a misanthropic tirade.
* FreudianExcuse: You wouldn't be happy either if you were forcefully seperated from your family and learned about your mother’s death.
* FriendlessBackground: Alma was bullied as a child in the human world, and when she was moved to Jewel Land, she was unsocial to her classmates, only trusting in Opal and Diana. After she moves back to the human world (OVA), she has trouble making friends besides Akari since the past is still hurting her.
* GenderBender: She spends most of the first and second arcs donning male clothing and styling her hair to be boyish. This is all accomplished through magic. Admittedly, it's not clear if her ''anatomy'' changes, but it is stated that she prefers going like a boy because she feels safer that way.
* GoAndSinNoMore: Jewelina punishes Alma by taking away her magic and telling her to go live in the human world with her family.
* HalfIdenticalTwins: As Yuuma's twin sister, she is similar to him in looks.
* HumansAreBastards: She says in the OVA that she can't stand how humans trample each other's feelings and that she'd rather not interact with them.
* IcyBlueEyes: Become OccultBlueEyes when she's possessed by the Battest.
* KnightOfCerebus: The tone of the story becomes darker and sadder whenever she's around. Averted for the OVA, since she's not a villain in that, not anymore.
* MeaningfulName: The name she uses while hiding her identity, 'Laiya', sounds like 'liar'.
* MementoMacGuffin: Opal might as well be one from her mother.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Has this reaction when the Battest is let loose and it starts destroying everything in sight.
* MysteriousWatcher: Keeps watching Akari's progress before fully revealing herself in episode 23.
* NoSocialSkills: In the OVA. Understandable since she spend most of her life up to that point in almost total solitude.
* OrphansOrdeal: The loss of her mother drives her entire arc.
* PersonalityBloodTypes: AB - has more emotional peaks than Sara, but otherwise shares the coldness and the evasiveness.
* PoweredByAForsakenChild: Her DemonicPossession by the Battest can also be seen as this, as it’s stated multiple times that it’s feeding off her negative emotions, her magic and her very life force. Her going over the DespairEventHorizon due to Diana’s death is what allows the Battest to fully emerge, almost covering Jewel Land in darkness.
%%* PowerGivesYouWings
* PromotionToOpeningTitles: In the second version of the opening.
* PurpleIsPowerful: She's scarily powerful and dresses all in purple, in addition to having purple hair.
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: Her original motivation is to defeat Jewelina, goddess of Jewel Land, as revenge for her mother's death.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Thinks Jewelina is responsible for her mother's death, so she's out to get her. The truth is that Jewelina warned Fealina about the danger; Fealina went and made a mistake that was ultimately her own.
* SamusIsAGirl: She first appears in her boy form, then Opal turns her back into her true girl form.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Akari/Yuuma, in the OVA. She does sympathize with it in the series proper too, but her revenge and general propensity to antagonize everyone get in the way.
* SupportingProtagonist: The OVA is her story, but it's Akari's point-of-view.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Late in the season, due to MotiveDecay from the Battest's influence, she decides that she's going to rule Jewel Land and Earth.
%%* {{Tsundere}}: OVA.
%%* TsurimeEyes
* WalkingSpoiler: It's very hard to talk about this character without ruining the series for new viewers.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: During her time as Laiya, as her mind is possessed by the Battest.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Has understandable and sympathetic reasons, despite being the series' main villain.
* YourPrincessIsInAnotherCastle: In episode 38, she decides to go to someplace faraway where she can be alone with Diana, making you think this is the last time you'll see her. She comes back for the Jewel Star Grand Prix.

!!Battest
A forbidden tome containing all the dark magic born from the negative emotions of human beings. Fearing that the dark magic might destroy both worlds, Jewelina sealed it away in the book and banished it to an unknown location. Fealina attempted to unseal it to use a spell that would take her powers away, and nearly caused a catastrophe. She then reformed the seal into the birthmarks of her children, using up all her power in the process and falling into an unending sleep as a result. The main conflict of this season concerns Alma attempting to unleash it for her own purposes.
----
* ArtifactOfDoom: Beware the dictionary-looking thing.
* DemonicPossession: Possesses Alma during the Grand Prix arc.
* EvilWeapon: In its sword form.
* GreaterScopeVillain: It's the greater evil of the series because it contains all the Dark Magic, but since it's an inanimate object, it can't do much by itself, having to rely on psychic possession and such.
* SealedEvilInACan: It's Dark Magic in a book.
* TomeOfEldritchLore: Its primary form is a book, since that's what Jewelina sealed Dark Magic into, but it can change shape.
