Context Characters / DragonForceBozackNation

Go To

Living deep within the jungle, the beasts of Bozack have become totally self-sufficient since the attack of [[BigBad Madruk]]. Before, they relied heavily on the surrounding nations for their necessities, but that changed forever after Madruk destroyed much of their lands. Now, they have very few dealings with their neighbours, [[FantasticRacism and trust no one.]] Bozack, unlike other nations, tends to be more of a democracy rather than a monarchy. However, its people still look to their leader, [[BarbarianHero Gongos,]] for direction.

The forestry and agricultural industries are Bozack's main sources of income. Bananas are one of their chief exports. With the exception of manufactured items, there is little need for the import of other products. [[BarbarianTribe The beasts tend to live in a rather anarchial society;]] [[NobleSavage however, they do obey the laws set out by their monarch...most of the time.]]

Located at the south-west part of Legendra, Bozack is surrounded by the ocean to the east, west, and south. The only route out of the country is to the north. This, combined with dense forests, severely limits the possibility of a surprise, land-based attack on its capital.

[[folder: Gongos]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dragon_force_2.png]]
->'''Class''': Beast
Despite his diminutive appearance, Gongos rules the jungles of Bozack with the strength of a thousand beasts. [[NobleSavage He is a very generous and chivalrous person who hates crafty strategies and unnecessary plunder.]] He is held dear by his subjects, who have named him "The Guardian of the Forest".
----
* {{Angrish}}: When captured in anyone else's scenario.
* ArtificialStupidity: When controlled by the AI. If you attack him with melee troops, he'll often place his own troops in the "breach" formation, where the vast majority will be clustered around the middle rows of the battlefield. If you have a general with Sonic Wave (hits the centre 3 rows), or Sonic Blast (hits the centre 5 rows), you can easily decimate his army with just 1 or 2 spells.
* BarbarianHero: "The Guardian of the Forest".
* BigDamnHeroes: In Teiris' campaign, he and his team actually leave for a brief moment after Wein pulls ''his'' BigDamnHeroes moment (see Highland's character page). Later on, when [[spoiler: Goldark challenges Teiris, Gongos and his team return to intercept him. Gongos then forces a battle with Goldark. Fortunately, [[TacticalRockPaperScissors Beasts have an advantage over Cavalry.]]]]
* BoisterousBruiser
* ButtMonkey: As a comic relief character, Gongos is often subject to this. Of note, Teiris does not reciprocate his [[InterSpeciesRomance amorous advances]], and runs off with [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Wein]] at the end of his campaign, and [[spoiler: Scythe even ends up forgetting that he exists (intentionally or otherwise) during the Forest Shrine encounter, where he, Teiris, and Reinhart go looking for the Sun Bracelet.]]
* ClusterFBomb: Mild compared to other examples, but Gongos stands out as one of the characters who will let off an ''impressive'' stream of swear words when captured.
* DumbMuscle: Especially when compared to the rest of the Dragon Force.
* FantasticRacism: ''Hugely'' subverted by Gongos. The Elves and Beast Men really don't get along, probably because of past events concerning the previous Dragon Force, but Gongos [[LoveAtFirstSight falls head-over-heels for]] Teiris (the Elf-Queen), going so far as to ''propose'' to her in the epilogue of his campaign! [[spoiler: he doesn't get her in the end; [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Teiris marries Wein.]]]]
* HotBlooded: By Astea, ''yes''. Doubly so with his [=PS2=] voice acting.
* InterspeciesRomance: Gongos attempts this with Teiris. [[spoiler: It doesn't take.]]
* ItAmusedMe/ SelfImposedChallenge: According to his prologue, Gongos starts out wanting to take over Legendra ''for shits and giggles''.
* LoveAtFirstSight: Again, with Teiris.
* LoveTriangle: With Teiris, against Wein. It's a benign one, though, and [[spoiler: one-sided on Gongos' part.]]
* PeltsOfTheBarbarian
* PowerFist: Can equip the Sun Bracelet from the Forest Shrine.
* TribalFacePaint
* WolverineClaws: The other type of weapon male Beasts can use.
* VerbalTic: Occasionally, he will end his sentences with [[WesternAnimation/BeastWars "Yesss..."]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Nirutaba]]
Nirutaba keeps Gongos informed on the war. He also helps to plan military strategies.
----
* TheGoodChancellor
* MissionControl
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Rygar]]
->'''Class''': Beast
As Gongos' childhood friend, Rygar and Gongos have a close friendship, said to be sealed in blood. He is the eldest of his family, and is noted for his calm demeanour and clear thinking abilities.
----
* TheLancer: Gongos' second in command.
* TribalFacePaint
* WolverineClaws: The other weapon Beasts can equip. Displayed in his battle sprite.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Baghib]]
->'''Class''': Beast
Baghib lacks the mental discipline of a trained soldier. [[TheBerserker He tends to fly off the handle at even the most minor annoyances.]] [[HairTriggerTemper Due to his quick and violent temper,]] he feels that he is unstoppable in a fight.
----
* TheBerserker: Described as such.
* HairTriggerTemper: His dialogue emphasizes his constant state of anger.
* LonersAreFreaks: When he enters battle without any troops, he yells "I'm alone and pissed off at the world!"
* TheNoseKnows: He will sometimes say something about the smell of his opponents in the pre-battle dialogue. For example, he will notice that [[spoiler: Scythe]] smells like a demonic creature.
* TribalFacePaint
* WolverineClaws: The other weapon Beasts can equip. Displayed in his battle sprite.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Katt]]
->'''Class''': Spirit User
Katt has a deep respect for her two older brothers; however, they tend to stick her with the responsibility of caring for [[BrattyHalfPint Yuni.]] With her quick temper and magic skills, she makes for a fearsome opponent.
----
* CatGirl/ CuteMonsterGirl
* DamselInDistress: Captured by Ryskim in his second encounter in Gongos's campaign.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Summon Reaper could be considered this. See HpToOne below.
* {{Fanservice}}: Her black LeotardOfPower looks like a one-piece swimsuit.
* HotWitch: An attractive dark skinned girl with long white hair, red facial markings, that wears a tight leotard that accentuates her curves, who can use very powerful spells.
* HpToOne: Katt's tier 3 spell, Summon Reaper, has the unique gimmick of reducing the enemy general's HP to 1, allowing for an easy kill. The catch? It reduces ''her'' HP to 1 as well.
* MysticalWhiteHair: To emphasize her mystical background among the rest of her more brutish kinsmen.
* PlayingWithFire: Flame Cannon.
* TheSmartGuy: She appears to be Gongos' shaman.
* SecretArt: Played Straight ''and'' inverted. Katt is the only character in the game that learns Summon Reaper, and once of the two that learns Summon Golem. However, she's the only Spirt User in the game that can't learn Dark Vortex.
* SummonMagic: Aside from Summon Reaper, above, Katt is the only character (other than Scythe) who learns Summon Golem.
* TribalFacePaint: Her markings make her look [[PunnyName even more like a]] [[CatGirl cat.]]
* WolverineClaws: In her sprite. Par the course for a Beast, though she's actually a Spirit User general, and thus ''can't'' equip this kind of weapon.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Yuni]]
->'''Class''': Beast
Yuni is the baby in her family and is used to getting what she wants. She tries to make herself a dangerous fighter; however, [[BrattyHalfPint she still tends to act like an immature, spoiled brat.]]
----
* ActionGirl: While boastful and not as strong as she thinks, she can kick ass.
* AssKicksYou: Par the course, when female Beasts use [[DeathFromAbove Sky Driver]] and Cross Rush.
* BrattyHalfPint: Especially compared to her siblings.
* CatGirl/ CuteMonsterGirl: Very, ''very'' much.
* TagalongKid: Possibly the youngest character of the entire game, yet she's a playable general.
* TribalFacePaint
* VerbalTic: "Mew!"
* WolverineClaws: She is not exempt, despite her age.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Gunner's army (Gunner, Rykker, Norse, and Silva)]]
->'''Classes''': Beast (Gunner, Silva), Knight (Rykker), Fighter (Norse)
Exiled by Gongos' father for trying to take Bozack's throne for himself, Gunner is ambitious beastman who wants to be King of Bozack, thinking that Gongos' family are weak monarchs. The descendant of Leviathan, a former Bozack King and member of a previous Dragon Force.

Silva is his partner/right hand woman. Norse and Rykker are merely mercenaries who don't share his ambitions or ideals.

* ActionGirl: Silva.
* AmbiguousGender: Rykker, thanks to his portrait. Remedied in the [=PS2=] remake, where he is confirmed to be a (rather flamboyant) male.
* AssKicksYou: When Silva uses [[DeathFromAbove Sky Driver]] or Cross Rush.
* DeathFromAbove: When Gunner and Silva use Sky Driver.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Rykker, again.
* DuelBoss: Gunner, possessed by the spirit of Leviathan (Gongos' ancestor from the previous Dragon Force), vs. Gongos in Gongos' scenario.
* FlashStep: Gunner and Silva's Cross Flash. Rykker is one of the few Knights who can also learn it.
* TribalFacePaint: Gunner and Silva.
* WolverineClaws: Gunner and Silva, the Beast generals.
