[[caption-width-right:350: Good advice.]]
* AntiHeroTeam: They're basically what you get when a bunch of dangerous and arbitrarily moral antiheroes decide to enforce order on the world their way. The only reason they're heroes is because their enemies are far worse.
* BadassCrew: Individually, each member of the team is impressive on their own but together they are pretty much unstoppable.
* DysfunctionJunction: Personality wise, they're a pretty dysfunctional group, being delusional, apathetic, short-sighted, temperamental, violent, murderous, drug-riddled, perverted or all of the above. The Engineer herself admitted they were an anarchist cell that just happened to save the world from time to time.
* ExpyCoexistence: Happened when they got [[CanonWelding Canon Welded]] into the DC Universe:
** Manchester Black joins the team in ''ComicBook/SupermanAndTheAuthority'' and he was created for an Authority {{Expy}} group called The Elite who clashed with Superman in the story ''ComicBook/WhatsSoFunnyAboutTruthJusticeAndTheAmericanWay''. Now it's said The Elite were imitating The Authority in-universe.
** SupermanSubstitute, Apollo now has to work alongside the actual Superman. He also admits he modelled himself on Supes.
* KnightTemplar: The point of the team is to improve the world through enforcing hard-line order and control whenever desired. They were created by Jenny as a way to protect the world by any means necessary after Stormwatch was disbanded due to lack of government funding and the Changers were brutally dispatched for trying to using more lenient measures of helping the world.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: Jenny assembled the team with the idea in mind that the team together should carry as much weight as the average world-superpower in order to strike fear into nations.
* SketchySuccessor: They are this to the Changers, the idealistic team of metahumans that inspired Jenny Sparks to create the team. Unlike the Authority, they didn't engage in nearly as much dirty business and nastiness.
* SuperheroSobriquets:
** Jenny Sparks -- "The Spirit of the 20th Century".
** Apollo -- "The Sun God".
** Midnighter -- "Night's Bringer of War".
** The Doctor -- "The Shaman".
** The Engineer -- "The Maker".
** Jack Hawksmoor -- "The God of Cities".
** Swift -- "The Winged Huntress".
* TookALevelInJerkass: The whole team did this after Jenny died. Lethal force was no longer just an option, but more often that not, it was the ''only'' one they used; they became arrogant, causally acting unilaterally without regard for the repercussions of their actions and dismissing the valid concerns of others; and at one point, they overthrew the U.S. government.

[[folder:Jenny Sparks]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2160933_jennysparks_001.jpg]]
Team-founder and first leader. She's the ageless female ''Spirit of the 20th Century'' (a person who is reborn every 100 years) embodying that century's—or in past times, era's—central concept - in this case, electricity. She was the leader of Stormwatch's black-ops subteam, and assembled the Authority to continue their job on her terms.
----

* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Of the 20th century. Which comes with the little wrinkle that when the 20th century ends, she drops dead.
* BeenThereShapedHistory: She convinced Hitler to go into politics, not knowing [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII what]] he would [[UsefulNotes/TheHolocaust bring]].
* TheChainsOfCommanding: The second issue of the original series has Jack note that Jenny tends to be more abrasive and loud the more responsibility she takes on. The very next page has Jenny outright tell Apollo that she doesn't like being the leader.
-->Bad things happen when I run teams. And bad things happen when I don't run teams.
%%* ColonelBadass: In the British Space Program.
* ComicBookFantasyCasting: Drawn to resemble Kate Moss.
%%* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass:
* FlatEarthAtheist: She's a metaphysical AnthropomorphicPersonification... who's an atheist.
* KilledOffForReal: As the AnthropomorphicPersonification of the 20th Century, she died at midnight on December 31st, 1999.
* LadyDrunk: She tended to drink a lot. She once joked that the only reason she looks so good at her age is because all of her organs are preserved in alcohol.
* MyGreatestFailure: In the this universe, Hitler's rise to power is due to her telling him to consider going into politics. Needless to say, she ended up regretting this when she sees the result of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: As noted below, one of Jenny's greatest regrets was telling [[UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler a certain someone]] to give up art and inspiring him to go into politics.
* OlderThanSheLooks: By the time of her death, she was nearly a century old, but stopped physically aging in her thirties.
* ShockAndAwe: Jenny can control and absorb electricity but cannot generate it herself.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: She accidentally started the rise of UsefulNotes/AdolfHitler when she suggested that he quit painting and go into politics.

[[folder:Jack Hawksmoor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5782468_7388551162_hawks.jpg]]
Second-in-Command. A vicious man experimented on by aliens who were actually humans from the 70th century who has a symbiotic relationship with cities, giving him the moniker ''The God of Cities''. He was a member of Jenny's Stormwatch Black Team.
----
* AlienAbduction: His whole shtick was how this happened to him which replaced many of his body parts and made him a city empath.
* ExoticEquipment: Whatever became of his genitals after his modifications made one observer vomit on sight.
* FisherKing: His basic powerset is to be empowered by, commune with and control cities.
* {{Jerkass}}: One of the biggest on the team to the point even ''[[AxeCrazy Midnighter]]'' calls him out on it from time to time.
* TheLancer: When Jenny Sparks was around, he was second-in-command.
* SketchySuccessor: The Authority's darker aspects only fully manifested when he took over the team leadership.
* TwoFaced: He spends a large chunk of the 2008 series suffering a deformity that gives him an asymmetrical appearance.

[[folder:The Engineer]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/engineer_wildstorm_comics_authority_spica_2.jpg]]
!!!'''Real Name:''' Angela Spica
Also Known as ''The Maker''. An American woman who replaced her blood with liquid {{Nanomachines}} who serves as the technology and ship technology expert for the team.
----
* AmbiguouslyBi: While fighting the Renegade Doctor, Angie mentions having a "brief lesbian fling" in college.
* [[AscendedFanBoy Ascended Fan Girl]]: She was once [[https://imgur.com/a/zLrKY just a comic book fanatic]] (to the point she had every DC comic since 1956) and computer geek in Brooklyn dreaming of being a superhero who inherited the original Engineer's nanomachines and replaced her blood with them.
* BadassBookworm: Angie is the team's technology expert and is just as capable in combat as the rest.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: She's naked but has no visible nipples or vulva (though she would have visible areola DependingOnTheArtist and is shown with bolts for nipples in the second crossover with Lobo).
* ChromeChampion: She is a silver cyborg.
* {{Cyborg}}: She has nanites in her blood, which she frequently uses to envelope her body with a metallic coating.
* ExperimentedInCollege: She once claimed to have had a lesbian fling when she was in college.
* MesACrowd: She can make copies of herself to carry out various functions around the world.
* {{Nanomachines}}: The source of her powers.
* PowerOfCreation: Angie's most impressive power is ability to create almost anything out of the trace elements that exist in the air and soil that surround her, from machine gun hands to literal clones of herself. There really is no limit to what her machines can do other than her imagination.
* PowerPerversionPotential: She has used her copies to have sex with Jack while maintaining concentration to prevent her other clones from sharing the same feeling during their worldly duties (i.e. having an orgasm while giving a speech to the UN.) It's also pretty much outright stated that her nano-blood basically allows her to indulge her exhibitionist tendencies by giving her a reason to walk around naked everywhere.
* RapeAsDrama: It's implied that during the G7 Authority arc that she was treated as a sex slave during her brainwashing. Likewise, during the Renegade Doctor arc, it's implied he went back in time to when she was in high school to sexually assault her.
* TechnoWizard: Coupled with her MachineEmpathy and natural GadgeteerGenius, she essentially became this for the team.

[[folder:The Doctor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3338331_1075946875_docto.jpg]]
!!!'''Real Name:''' Jeroen Thornedike
Also known as ''The Shaman''. A nebbish billionaire ex-heroin junkie who serves as the mightiest magic-user on Earth and the latest in a long line of reincarnated shamans chosen to defend the planet from danger. He serves as the TokenWizard of the team.
----
* BrilliantButLazy: Between what remained of his former genius-level intellect and the powers he gained as the Doctor, Jeroen could have changed the world for the better all by himself, but usually he can barely be arsed to leave his room.
* CharacterDeath: He is killed off in ''The Authority: Revolution'', with Habib Bin Hassan taking his place.
* CowardlyLion: Admitted to be the strongest member of team, but his crippling self-esteem issues and cowardice cripple his full potential.
* FunctionalAddict: He's an admitted heroin junkie that is sometimes high on the stuff during battle to cope with stress. Albeit how functional he is tends to vary at times.
* LegacyCharacter: He continues a long line of shamans who also went by the title Doctor and is ultimately replaced by a successor after he is killed off in ''The Authority: Revolution''.
* RealityWarper: Everyone who has the role of the Doctor is actually this. In his own words, all he has to do is draw a detailed mental picture of what he wants to happen and reality builds it for him. However, more powerful feats can take their toll both on the Doctor and the planet's ecosystem so he tries to use the full extent of his power sparingly.
* RichKidTurnedSocialActivist: He was a software billionaire. After suffering a nervous breakdown, he gave away his fortune and tried to waste his life in a flophouse. Jenny Sparks convinces him to join her socio-anarchist collective.
* TheStoner: He spends a lot of time high as a kite.

!!'''Midnighter'''
[[quoteright:340:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a82be27ee762efc288f7bf2d2864601d.png]]
[[caption-width-right:340:[[SlasherSmile He's real friendly.]]]]
!!! '''Alter ego:''' Unknown (“Lucas Trent”)
!!! '''Species''': Human
!!! '''First appearance''': ''ComicBook/{{Stormwatch}}'' #4 (Vol. 2) (February 1998)
-> ''"I am not a lover. I am not a father. I am not a friend. I am what I was bred to be. And therein lies the problem.''"
-->-- [[IdentityAmnesia "Lucas Trent,"]] aka The '''Midnighter'''

Described by his creator Creator/WarrenEllis as "Radio/TheShadow by way of Creator/JohnWoo," Midnighter first appeared in Creator/{{Wildstorm}}'s ''ComicBook/{{Stormwatch}}'' #4 (Vol. 2), as a former member of a black ops squadron run by Henry Bendix, aka Weatherman. During his tenure on that team, he met his husband Apollo, a solar-powered superbeing in the vein of ComicBook/{{Superman}} to his own ComicBook/{{Batman}}. Realizing Bendix was going to send him and Apollo on a SuicideMission with their team, the two managed to escape and proceeded to spend years in hiding from Stormwatch. It wasn't until they learned of Bendix's deposition from the new Weatherman --Jackson King-- that the two emerged from the shadows, eventually becoming co-founding members of a new team lead by Jenny Sparks, called ComicBook/TheAuthority.

Midnighter served as a long-standing member of The Authority (and even received his own solo title) in the following years, before Wildstorm's absorption by parent company Creator/DCComics. Following the events of ''ComicBook/FlashpointDCComics'', Midnighter -- along with many of his Wildstorm cohorts -- was imported into ComicBook/New52 continuity, placed on new iteration of ''Stormwatch'' led by ComicBook/MartianManhunter. After a brief ContinuityReboot, reverting he and his Stormwatch teammates back to closer recollections of their Wildstorm selves ([[RatingsStunt in a bid for boosted sales]]) proved unsuccessful, the reset was undone, and DC's ''Stormwatch'' ended at #30.

Since then, Midnighter has showed up in the pages of ''ComicBook/TheNew52FuturesEnd'' and ''ComicBook/{{Grayson}}'' in supporting roles. Starting June 2015 (after ''ComicBook/{{Convergence}}'' and the end of DC's New 52 branding), Midnighter appeared in his second ongoing book, this time written by Steve Orlando and illustrated by ACO. Following DC's ''Rebirth'' relaunch, ''Midnighter'' ended and was replaced by a ''Midnighter and Apollo'' title, featuring Midnighter reunited with his lover, who he had been temporarily estranged from in the previous series.
----
! Midnighter proves examples of:
* AmnesiacHero: Midnighter can't remember anything before he was turned into the perfect killing machine he is, not even if he volunteered for the procedure or not, or his real name. Apollo was in the same boat in the Wildstorm Universe, but in the DC Rebirth version, he has a seperate origin story from the Midnighter and he remembers both [[DarkAndTroubledPast his unhappy childhood and every torturous part of his forced conversion into a superpowered metahuman.]]
* AntiHero: He kills people. A lot.
* AscendedMeme: His chin spike. Eventually explained in-universe after much fan teasing, having saved his life during a scrap prior to the start of his Stormwatch tenure.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Midnighter's enhancements go beyond a mere SherlockScan --- they can detect how a fight will end on sight, not to mention provide possible routes of victory.
--> '''Midnighter''': I've already played this fight in my head, a million times, from each and every angle.
* AxCrazy: He certainly enjoys the violence he commits, especially when he especially hates the victim in question
* BadassLongCoat: Conspicuously missing from his original [=DCnU=] outfit, but currently restored.
* BadFuture: Shown to become a violent, brain-damaged dictator in ''The Authority: Revolution''.
* BatmanCanBreatheInSpace: With a rebreather, he can survive a short time in outer space.
* BatmanParody: Midnighter can best be described as Batman if he were gay, had actual superpowers, and no qualms with killing.
* BreakoutCharacter: Easily one of Wildstorm's best known creations, having made the jump over to DC's New 52 with sporadic appearances across the line.
* BreakThemByTalking: Managed to convince a mercenary to give up and even help him by explaining how little his life matters to anyone and his employer.
* CaptainErsatz: Basically Batman if he was a vicious maniac, and in a relationship with Superman.
* CivvieSpandex: During the Wildstorm era, his costume usually consists of a cowl mask with a leather trenchcoat, logo T-shirt, jeans or combat trousers, and combat boots. In the DC era, it became more of a specialized battlesuit.
* CombatClairvoyance: His whole shtick is that he can see how a battle plays in his head out before making a step and often frightens his opponents by saying he's played out their fight a million times in his head already. Then he tried to pull it on [[FlyingBrick Captain Atom.]] Suffice to say, [[CurbstompBattle Atom was not impressed.]]
* CoverIdentityAnomaly: "Lucas Trent" is known to be a nice guy -- or was, at some point, anyway.
* CrazyPrepared: It's Midnighter's main selling point --- he knows what somebody's next move will be before ''they'' do, and acts accordingly.
* DarkIsNotEvil: DependingOnTheWriter, but broadly speaking he is on the side of the good guys in spite of his black clothes and lunar motifs.
* DependingOnTheArtist: The color and styling of his hair, seemingly switching with every artist --- as of his 2015 solo title, it's currently a dirty blond mohawk.
* {{Determinator}}: Especially in the DCU version. Harm Apollo, and Midnighter will ''literally'' walk through Hell to find you and end you. And he will do anything to save Apollo from death [[spoiler: (''and beyond'')]] or die trying, not even trying to keep back any reserves to get himself back to safety should he fail in the attempt. [[spoiler: (Good thing DCU Apollo is less of a DamselInDistress than in the Wildstorm Universe, and perfectly capable of getting himself out of trouble.)]]
** Though the way he took out the replacement team in the Wildstorm Auhtority series almost single-handedly, all while looking after baby Jenny all on his own for weeks, qualifies as well.
* DirtyBusiness: He takes care of this the most of the Authority roster, considering his spare time is mainly spent going to war zones and killing baddies.
* EverytownAmerica: Apparently Midnighter -- or "Lucas Trent", at least -- is from Harmony, Kansas.
* FriendToAllChildren: Surprisingly enough, given his personality. Wildstorm!Midnighter (and Apollo, too) especially guns for villains who harm children, [[WouldntHurtAChild refuses to kill children himself]] (even if they're destined to grow up to become Hitler), and adopts baby Jenny Quantum, resulting in several BadassAndBaby moments. DCU!Midnighter has this lovely speech to some child hostage victims of an insane gang/cult he just wiped out:[[note]]It's the "This is ''not'' your fault." part that really sells it, because it implies an amazing level of empathy and understanding for how children think, especially from somebody who has hardly any personal contact with kids and can't remember his own childhood.[[/note]]
--> '''child hostage''': Where's Mister Half-beard?\
'''Midnighter''': Mister Half-beard is studying the interior of a ''very small'' box. He and his friends were ''not'' good people. But they're all ''gone'' now. You're ''safe''. This is ''not'' your fault. These people will help you find your parents, or find you new homes. They will ''not'' fail you.\
'''Midnighter''': (more to the adult bystanders) Because if they do, I'll be back to... ''encourage'' them. And ''no one'' wants to see me twice. ''Trust'' me.
* GetBackInTheCloset: A panel depicting he and Apollo kissing was censored, but a later example in his solo book made a point of them kissing front and center.
* GoodIsNotNice / NominalHero: He's ''technically' a superhero...despite all evidence to the contrary.
* HaveIMentionedIAmGay: Midnighter's sexuality was pretty dubious to Apollo, until he explicitly stated it.
* HealingFactor: Part of his package of "combat enhancements" is a high-end healing ability. He mentions during Millar's run that his immune system "is as deadly as every other part of my body," allowing him to recover completely from even chronic diseases over the course of several weeks, and in ''The Magnificent Kevin'', he goes from immobile to walking under his own power in an hour once his powers are back on.
** In ''Midnighter and Apollo'' he channeled the power of an angel for long enough that it should have burned out his body and killed him, as he was warned by the sorceror who bound that angel to him. Not only does he survive (albeit unable to stand and needing Apollo to carry him to safety), but he seems perfectly fine just a few days later.
* HitlersTimeTravelExemptionAct: The first story arc of his solo series. Midnighter went back in time under order of an affluent man to kill Hitler or else he'd ignite a bomb he put in Midnighter's chest. [[EveryoneHasStandards Upon seeing how broken Hitler was, he refused.]] Especially after he found out the real reason his client wanted Hitler dead was to allow his father, a Nazi official, to become a more effective ruler than Hitler, implying he would have replaced Hitler and would have been a worse tyrant than Hitler ever was if Hitler was killed.
* IAmWhatIAm: In all of his solo stories, it's mentioned by Midnighter how much he hates his origin as a man-made killing machine, his murderous impulses, and violent tendencies due to how it makes him little different from the criminals he puts into the ground. His whole career as a violent anti-hero is geared towards pointing those murderous instincts towards targets who he feels deserves it most.
-->'''Midnighter:''' You think I ''like'' how I was made? I can't go back. Can't ''help'' what was done to me. I can only point it in the right ''direction.''
* LogicalWeakness: Midtnighter's fighting prowess comes from numerous cybernetic enhancements throughout his brain and body, allowing him to read his opponent(s) and fight them accordingly. These make him almost impossible to beat in a fight, but they also have a number of logical weak points. Here are several ways he's been beaten over the years:
** If an opponent is simply too powerful for him to fight, as when he fought Captain Atom.
** If an enemy is faster than him, even with his enhancements.
** If an enemy is inherently unpredictable in some way. During one crossover, he had trouble fighting ComicBook/TheJoker, who's simply [[ObfuscatingInsanity too crazy to predict.]] Of course, in that case, it's more of an ''il''logical weakness...
** If his enhancements have been disabled, he's just a normal guy (albeit an extremely fit one).
** In ''The Authority: Human on the Inside'', Midnighter challenged a seemingly normal guy to a fight. Despite the guy's protests that Midnighter would kill him, he agreed. The man then refused to make a move at all, giving Midnighter's combat computer no information and leaving them in a draw. This might not count, as [[spoiler:the man was actually a super-advanced android sent to destroy the Authority from within, so he might have been able to confuse Midnighter's analysis somehow.]]
** Midnighter's abilities border on CombatClairvoyance, but they're just the result of AwesomenessByAnalysis. In his solo series, he once faced a supervillain named Afterthought, who had ''actual'' CombatClairvoyance, and who wiped the floor with Midnighter--no matter what Midnighter's combat enhancements told him to do, Afterthought would see it coming and act accordingly. He beat the guy in their second fight by [[spoiler:doubling the armor on certain parts of his costume, and letting Afterthought--who had no super strength or stamina--wail on those spots until Afterthought was too tired to throw another punch. ''Then'' Midnighter kicked his ass]].
* ManlyGay: A big part of his appeal to readers, especially LGBTQ ones, is that he's a gay superhero who is also masculine.
* MalevolentMaskedMen: The Anthem group -- extremists who supposedly act in the name of peace. [[PatrioticFervor And wear country flags on their face]].
* MoralityChain:
** Apollo to Midnighter. Kinda. Apollo isn't opposed in principle to killing villains, but he disapproves of the sheer level of Midnighter's brutality and unnecessarily painful ways of execution (if more because the gore could traumatize bystanders and the victims they're trying to save, not because he pities the villains). One certainly gets the feeling that if Midnighter ever were to dial it down a bit, it would be to gain approval in Apollo's eyes, though he isn't really ''able'' to change. Midnighter's acceptance of what he is, even though he doesn't like it, in contrast with Apollo's conflicting wishes to accept his lover and to make him someone better, someone Midnighter himself could live with more easily, are a central theme in the ''Midnighter and Apollo'' mini-series. In fact, wanting to be Midnighter's MoralityChain turns out to be the reason why Apollo chose his superhero name in the first place, in this version of canon:
--> '''Apollo''': "Hyacinth, [[UsefulNotes/AncientGreece Apollo's]] lover. He ''knew'' Hyacinth was doomed, but he ''refused'' to let Hades claim him. So he turned him into something better. ...I ''know'' who you are. And even if ''you'' think you're ''doomed'', I refuse to accept that. ''You'', and everyone else in the world who thinks they've fallen too far... I'll always pull you back into the ''light''."
** They even seem to have toned down the PayEvilUntoEvil aspect of Midnighter's protectiveness towards Apollo, in the DC Rebirth version of the character. If you harm Apollo, Midnighter will still go to the ends of the world and beyond to kill you, but he isn't particularly vicious or sadistic about it - especially compared with the RapeAndRevenge incident in the old Wildstorm Authority canon. Then again, RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil and all that...
* NonHeteronormativeSociety: Midnighter learns this to be true of the future, apparently to a point where the term "gay" itself is archaic and out-of-use.
* OneManArmy: Numbers mean little to the guy. He tears through men like a hot knife through butter.
* OnlyKnownByHisNickname: He's only ever known as Midnighter.
* PoliticallyIncorrectHero: Millar's first arc on ''The Authority'' had Midnighter admit out-loud that he was a racist after getting tired of dealing with some refugees the team had taken on. Well, what he said was that the stress of living with thousands of refugees made him catch himself having racist thoughts about them. It came across like he regretted that part about himself. Which is actually a pretty nice representation of how people become better persons in this regard, self-awareness being the first step and all.
* PatrioticFervor: In ''Midnighter'' #2, Midnighter wears a tanktop depicting the American flag on a date in ''Russia.'' Though that may have just been trolling, given he was on a date with a dude, in Putin's Russia.
* RapeAndRevenge:
** [[spoiler: In Creator/MarkMillar's first arc on ''The Authority'' a ComicBook/CaptainAmerica stand-in known as the Commander raped Apollo. The last we see of him, he's on the ground, paralyzed by Apollo, and it's implied that Midnighter intends to return the favor — with a rusty jackhammer.]]
** AttemptedRape and Revenge: Some time after that story, the Authority team got usurped and replaced by new guys with the same powers, who then spend weeks torturing their originals in various ways [[spoiler:- except for the Midnighter, who makes a timely strategic retreat to protect baby Jenny. Apollo gets deprived of sunlight and used as a punching bag by his own and Midnighter's replacement. But just when Apollo's replacement has worked through his homophobia enough to talk himself into sexually assaulting Apollo, the Midnighter shows up to put a construction bolt through his brain.]][[note]]What is it with this guy and power tools as phallic symbols?[[/note]]
* RememberTheNewGuy: Everybody in Harmony, who claim to have known Midnighter back when he was "Lucas Trent".
* TheRemnant: He and Apollo are the lone survivors of an old Stormwatch cell made of expies of the founding members of the Justice League.
* SlasherSmile: As ''beamingly'' demonstrated in the above image.
* SociopathicHero: He's a killer all the way through, and he never pretends to be anything else.
** Though he's not ''fully'' sociopathic. The fact that he ''cares'' about limiting his killing to people who deserve it, and the fact that he truly, deeply loves Apollo and cares about their daughter, are pretty much the only reasons why he isn't a villain.
* TimePolice: Midnighter deals with a few of these while attempting to kill Hitler on a mission. [[spoiler:He works out a deal with them to take out the guy who sent him to the past in the first place]].
* TokenEvilTeammate: He's this for the Authority and that's really saying something for a team of already murderous amoral superheroes. He handles most of the dirty business of the team and has admitted he's a murderous monster and killer, but accepts it as who he is.
* ToughSpikesAndStuds: Midnighter's original outfit has spiked gloves. He has another outfit with spiked shoulder guards.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Which, compared to his Authority teammates, says a ''lot''. While Midnighter mainly just wants ethically permissable targets for his inherent violent urges and is fully aware he deserves to go to Hell someday (see the quote under IAmWhatIAm, above), Apollo has a rather unusual justification for why he often kills villains and does ''not'' feel like that makes him a bad person, even while he disapproves of Midnighter's levels of creative brutality. Basically, its because Apollo thinks their victims deserve to know that their abusers are gone ''and will never come back''. The comparison to ThouShallNotKill type superheroes like Batman or Superman isn't spelled out, but from the context[[note]]Apollo had just been explaining how his father threw him out when he came out as gay at ''age 12''. And then just a year later, aliens abducted him and torturously turned him into what he is now over the course of his teenage years. And after finally escaping, his asshole father rejected him again, now also for being "inhuman".[[/note]], it can be deduced that he thinks that these heroes are simply too privileged (white; straight; filthy rich or having a supportive family; not having been forced into their metahuman status; never having been personally tortured/abused/victimized, or at least not at a time when they were still helpless civilians, instead mostly getting {{Mangst}} type drama about ''other people'' getting hurt) to ever truly empathize with the victims of the villains they're throwing in prison only for them to escape again and again to destroy the lives of more innocent people. Note that Apollo's EstablishingCharacterMoment on the ComicBook/New52 Stormwatch reboot was taking down a child pornography ring, not dealing with some alien threat or a fantastical and crazy villain like most of Batman's rogues gallery.
* WillTheyOrWontThey: With Apollo, until they did in ''Stormwatch'' #18. They separated again following the [=DCYou=] relaunch, but the ''Midnighter'' solo series firmly establishes that, despite his wish to explore more relationships, Midnighter is still clearly in love with Apollo. [[spoiler: By the end of the series, they get back together.]]
* WolverineWannabe: While he has some [[BatmanParody similarities to Batman]], Midnighter arguably has much more in common with Wolverine. He has enhanced strength, speed, agility, and a HealingFactor. He also wears [[ToughSpikesAndStuds spiked]] gloves, [[BloodKnight has an insatiable appetite for violence]], and has a background in black ops.
* TheWorfEffect:
** When the Authority face off against the Erinyes, the ancient Greek goddesses of vengeance, Midnighter leapt at the opportunity to fight them—and was tossed aside in a single panel.
** Midnighter spends most of his issues in ''Grayson'' being somehow beaten by Dick, despite his cybernetic enhancements.
* WouldHitAGirl: Kills female enemies as much as male ones with extreme prejudice.
* WouldHurtAChild / WouldNotHurtAChild: Zig-zagged He hates fighting kids and often refuses to harm them, but push him enough and he'll attack or even kill one if needed. He killed an evil baby twin of his adopted daughter Jenny to stop her from destroying reality once. Teenagers are fair game though, as he once attacked ComicBook/Gen13 for getting in his way and killed many of Kriegstein's teenage metahumans for being baddies.

[[folder:Apollo]]
[[quoteright:205:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/205px_apollox.jpg]]
Also known as ''The Sun God''. An ex-metahuman soldier who became a rebel from a Stormwatch splinter cell before reconciling with the main organization. Lover, later husband, and battle partner to the Midnighter.
----
* ExpyCoexistence: He is a SupermanSubstitute who had to work alongside the actual Superman in ''ComicBook/SupermanAndTheAuthority''. Here he admits he modelled himself after Superman.
* FlyingBrick: He can fly, is incredibly strong and can fire blasts of solar energy.
* GoodWearsWhite: Apollo wears a white and gold outfit. [[PersonalityPowers He has a warm and cheerful personality]] to go with his PowerOfTheSun and is one of the nicer members of the team. Especially when compared to his husband Midnighter.
* HolyHalo: Fitting his title as "[[TheMagnificent The Sun God]]", he's almost always depicted with his head surrounded by a shining halo.
* LightningBruiser: He is as swift as he is strong.
* TheNeedless: Apollo does not require food or drink as his body is entirely sustained by his solar energy. He can survive in anaerobic environments indefinitely (he flies in space, by the simple method of not breathing).
* ThePowerOfTheSun: Like Superman, Apollo's powers are dependent on the Sun needing only exposure or access to sunlight to activate. Unlike Superman however, Apollo's body behaves more like a battery as his powers are far more directly dependent on the sun; whereas Superman's abilities are somewhat more 'internal'.
* RapeAsDrama: During Millar's first arc, it was implied that he was raped by the Captain America stand-in and it almost happened again during the G7 Authority story arc by his own EvilCounterpart, Teuton.
* SupermanSubstitute: He's more or less Superman if he were an anti-hero and gay. ''ComicBook/FinalCrisis'' even acknowledges it by having him be part of a team of Superman's counterparts, expies and knock-offs. When the Wildstorm characters got folded into the DC universe, it's taken even further by having Apollo be a Superman fanboy.

[[folder:Swift]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/swift_wildstorm_comics_stormwatch_authority.jpg]]
!!!'''Real Name:''' Shen Li-Men
A Buddhist Asian woman with the ability to grow wings and claws and superhuman senses. She was part of Jenny Sparks's Stormwatch team and is known as ''The World's Greatest Huntress''.
----
* AmbiguouslyBi: She and Jenny Sparks had a fling back in the 90's, but she also had a relationship with Grunge.
* EthicalSlut: She had an apparent friends-with-benefits fling with Jenny Sparks back when they were both in Stormwatch, and during her time with the Authority, she had a no-strings-attached affair with [[ComicBook/{{Gen13}} Grunge]].
* FastestThingAlive: Swift has been called the "fastest winged mammal on the planet".
* {{Flight}}: Swift is considered the fastest winged mammal on the planet. She has lived up to this claim by flying fast enough to catch up to super-speedsters.
* FlyingBrick: Swift once killed a person by flying straight through them, [[LudicrousGibs causing them to explode in numerous directions]].
* LightningBruiser: Ridiculously fast and strong enough to use that speed as a brute force weapon, turning herself into a missile.
* MartialPacifist: Described herself as being a Buddhist who tossed aside her personal beliefs to do good in the world by any means necessary. However, this reasoning degraded as she started abandoning all the principles of her faith and decided to just give up being a Buddhist or a pacifist entirely.
* RapeAndRevenge: As mentioned below, she was brainwashed into being a sex slave and once she broke free, she attacked her abusers.
* RapeAsDrama: She was brainwashed to be a SexSlave during the G7 Authority arc and killed her abusers.
* SuperSenses: Apart from superior hearing and eyesight, she is able to feel or "read" the air to locate moving things and mentally listen to the bio-rhythms of the planet.
* WingedHumanoid: She's a human woman with bird wings.
* WolverineClaws: Swift can grow claws and talons on her hands and feet.

[[folder:Jenny Quantum]]
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jenny_quantum_02.jpg]]

Personification of the 21st century. After being adopted by Apollo and Midnighter, she more or less takes Jenny Sparks' place as she grows older.
----
* BrainyBaby: She is able to speak in full sentences by toddlerhood and before that demonstrated awareness of her surroundings and being able to use her advanced powers to help the Authority.
* GooGooGodLike: She's had incredible power since she was an infant.
* HappilyAdopted: She has no issues being Apollo and Midnighter's adopted daughter.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: She deliberately ages herself to adolescence in ''The Authority: Revolution''.
* PrecociousCrush: The second crossover with Lobo actually has her express interest in the Main Man in spite of only being three, much to the disgust of her father Apollo.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: She currently takes on the form of a teenager, but is only eight.

!Supporting Characters and Allies
[[folder:Jacob Krigstein]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kirby_krigstein.jpg]]
A tiny, dyslexic genius who helped create America's Cold War-era super-soldier program, and who now runs the Authority's efforts to rebuilt Indonesia.
----
* AntiVillain: Krigstein's goal is actually similar to the Authority's, which is to make the world a better place for everyone and break the stagnant status quo. Swift convinces him to make a HeelFaceTurn by convincing him to use his ideas to help people.
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: He is basically an alternate-universe version of Creator/JackKirby; he is what Kirby might have become if he'd been snatched up by the US Government after World War II.
[[/folder]]

!Antagonists
[[folder:Kaizen Gamorra]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaizen_gammora.jpg]]
The absolute ruler of Gamorra Island (formerly Parousia).
----
* BaldOfEvil: Balding and certainly a nasty old man.
* BeardOfEvil: Has a long and thin beard and he's a despotic tyrant.
* CainAndAbel: He murdered his brothers Sum and Wai.
* EvilOldFolks: A seventy year-old tyrant.
* EvilOverlord: Parousia was remade into an island factory of terror named Gamorra Island under him.
* ForTheEvulz: He may wrap it in lengthy, poetical, emotional speeches, but it's pretty obvious that he commits atrocities like terrorism or genocide purely for his own amusement. When asked directly by a UN official ''why'' is he doing all that, his answer is merely that it's just because he can. And when his headquarters is about to be squashed by the Carrier, his last words are "I just wanted to have some fun".
* MoralMyopia: He sees absolutely nothing wrong in slaughtering people for fun, but holds a grudge towards Stormwatch members because they tried to stop him -- and killed about two hundred of his people on the way. You know, the very same people that [[{{Hypocrite}} Kaizen himself]] uses as [[WeHaveReserves disposable pawns]] and is visibly uncaring about how many of them will die trying to achieve his goals.
* OmnicidalManiac: He tried to carve his insignia ''into the planet'', attempting to destroy several major cities in the process. Why? [[ForTheEvulz Because he can]].
* SlasherSmile: He flashes them quite frequently during his [[MotiveRant Motive Rants]].
* YellowPeril: He's a megalomaniacal dictator of an Asian island, with a long, white beard and long, sharp nails.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Regis Slzfi]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/regis_earth_50.png]]
The warmongering dictator of Sliding Albion, an AlternateUniverse where the city-states of Renaissance Italy made an alliance with an alien race called the Blues, creating a worldwide colonial empire. With the Blues having become sterile from environmental damage to their world, he leads an invasion of the Wildstorm Universe, hoping to revitalize his species.
----
* ArchnemesisDad: [[spoiler:Legally, he is Jenny Sparks' father-in-law; she married his son Lorenzo back in the 1920's in hopes of sparking a revolution against Regis, but this plan failed when she discovered that Lorenzo was just as bad.]]
* AxCrazy: A downright vicious brute with a HairTriggerTemper more than willing to get his hands dirty at the slightest provocation.
* ChildEater: Hints at devouring Windsor's children after killing him.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Seems to be quite fond of this trope. He murders Windsor, the king of Albion (appointed by Regis himself) by crushing his skull -- just because he ''[[HairTriggerTemper verbally disrespected him]]'' (and he wasn't even talking to his face, either -- just making an off-handed comment in his conversation with Yngvi).
* EunuchsAreEvil: Became a eunuch following his confrontation with Jenny, and is one of the vilest foes the Authority has faced.
* EvilOldFolks: He was one of the first Blues to make contact with the humans of his world, way back in the 14th century.
* GroinAttack: Jenny Sparks castrated him during her sojourn to Sliding Albion back in the 1920's.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler:His final fate, courtesy of Hawksmoor.]]
* HornsOfVillainy: Has a pair of massive, ram-like horns atop his head.
* SerialRapist: Roars to Midnighter during their battle about the number of people he's raped and killed during the past half millennium.

[[folder:The Renegade Doctor]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/renegade_doctor_0001.jpg]]
A former heart surgeon, the Renegade Doctor was chosen to be the world's shaman in 1966. This ended up being a colossally bad move, and 18 months later, he'd gone so mad with power that he murdered ''three entire countries'', forcing the world's combined superhero population to team up to kick his ass. Kicked out of the Garden of Ancestral Memory and banished to a jail 20 million years in the past, he spent the next four decades rotting away, until he hatched a complicated plan to force the current Doctor to loan him his powers.
----
* AbusivePrecursors: To say that he abused his powers would be a gross understatement. The crimes he committed were so terrible that every doctor since has had a RestrainingBolt put on them to prevent them from doing the same kind of damage.
* BroughtDownToNormal: After his rampage in 1967, the previous Doctors stripped him of all of his powers.
* TheChessmaster: He manages to outwit the entire Authority to such an extent that they were forced to arrange for him to be released from prison and restored to full power.
* FatBastard: He is an evil man with a noticeably round figure.
* HeelFaceDoorSlam: It takes a while, but the Renegade Doctor's senses finally catch up with what it means to be connected to all life on the planet, resulting in him feeling empathy for the first time. Unfortunately for him, the Authority don't care and kill him anyway.
* HerosEvilPredecessor: Not immediate predecessor, but the principle stands.
* OmnicidalManiac: He completely wiped out the populations of ''three entire countries'' before the combined heroes of the world finally took him down.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: He's racist (he downplays his massacre of 12 million people by dismissing that most of his victims were "Sambos"), homophobic (he addresses Midnighter and Apollo using homophobic slurs) and misogynist (he uses his powers to go back in time and molest the Engineer when she was a teenager, then returns to the present to taunt her over the despicable deed).
* PostRapeTaunt: He went back in time during a fight with the Engineer to assault her in high school, then came back and taunted her.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: It's implied that he went back in time to when the Engineer was in high school to sexually assault her.
* SealedEvilInACan: He spent four decades locked in a prison cell twenty eons in the past.
* TeenyWeenie: Angie suggests that Renegade Doctor is such an asshole because he is insecure about his small penis.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Seth]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/seth_0.jpg]]
A genetically modified hillbilly created by a secret G7 cabal with the purpose of dealing with the Authority for interfering into their affairs.
----
* BookDumb: He comes across as just an idiotic redneck, but he does show some genuine cleverness at times. In particular, when his superiors assume Midnighter and Jenny Quantum are dead, Seth observes that the lack of any remains leaves open the possibility of their escaping -- which is exactly what happened.
* BrotherSisterIncest: Is said to be the resulting offspring from his seven uncles schtupping his mother.
* CardCarryingVillain: Freely admits to the President that he is a "cackling super-villain who gets off on hurting people".
* DeepSouth: He represents almost every negative stereotype of Southern people, and is possibly one of the darkest examples in comics, considering his fondness for violence and implied pedophilia.
* FlightStrengthHeart: In addition to superhuman attributes and telepathy, he has very random superpowers like "[[ToiletHumor nuclear poop vision]]".
* ForcedTransformation: [[spoiler:His augmentations are reversed by Jenny Quantum, returning him to his human form and his final fate is being transformed into a chicken]].
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Seth was originally a skinny, inbred redneck that was kidnapped by the government and turned into a SuperSoldier capable of taking on the most powerful superheroes on the planet singlehandedly.
* InbredAndEvil: He was conceived when his uncles had sex with his mother and is a real despicable piece of work.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: To complete his nature as a laundry list of negative rural stereotypes, he is evidently homophobic and racist, as he mocks Apollo and Midnighter for being gay and at one point says the N-word.
* TheSociopath: A truly depraved piece of work that gets off hurting people as he himself admits.
* SuperpowerLottery: The government spent billions expending money on adding any superpower possible to him, to the point he has superpowers in the quadruple digits.
* WouldHurtAChild: He is heavily implied to sexually abuse children, and the government rewards him with a harem of prepubescent girls after defeating the Authority for them. He also attempted to target Jenny Quantum.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:"God"]]
The BigBad of "The Outer Dark", the entity best described as God is a massive alien lifeform that is the original creator of the planet we know as Earth, having physically created the planet and moved it into orbit billions of years ago to serve as a retirement home for it when it returned from travelling the universe. It is not at all pleased to discover a biosphere having developed on the planet by pure chance, and intends to wipe out all life and return Earth to its original DeathWorld state.
----
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: It never actually communicates in the story, Jenny Sparks even wonders if it can think at all [[spoiler:before she lobotomizes it]], but it's definitely capable of intelligent action, most of which is bizarre.
* EldritchAbomination: It's a gigantic, alien lifeform roughly the size of the moon, so big it's the host of several independent biospheres inside its body that it's not even aware of.
* EmptyShell: [[spoiler:With no way of destroying the being, Jenny Sparks performs a HeroicSacrifice, destroying its higher brain functions while leaving its body alive]]
* {{Expy}}: Of ComicBook/{{Galactus}}, who was concieved as "what if {{God}} was a supervillain?"
* GodIsEvil: Insofar that morality even applies to it, it's planning to wipe out all life on Earth because it doesn't like the biosphere we need to live.
* StarfishAlien: There's nothing remotely human about it, it's essentially a giant, pyramid-shaped living planet. Its body is home to an alien civilization evolved from parasites over millions of years.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:The Americans]]
A team of villains created by Dr. Krigstein. They were ordered to kill Jenny Quantum, Jenny Sparks' reincarnation and then told to capture her when she displayed powers.
----
* AnArmAndALeg: Titan gets his legs blown off by Jenny Quantum when her powers manifest for the first time.
* CorruptedCharacterCopy: The main Americans are evil stand-ins for ComicBook/TheAvengers.
** Commander --> ComicBook/CaptainAmerica
** Storm-God --> ComicBook/TheMightyThor
** Titan --> ComicBook/AntMan
** Hornet --> The Wasp
** Tank-Man --> ComicBook/IronMan
** The Creature --> ComicBook/TheIncredibleHulk
** The rest are similarly stand-ins for other Marvel heroes, including a gender-flipped version of the X-Men and a bigoted Nick Fury.
* EpicFlail: Storm-God wields a morning star attached to a long chain.
* HeelFaceTurn: Midnighter is able to convince Tank-Man to walk away from the Americans just by talking to the guy and being nice to him. The last that is heard of Tank-Man is when he sends a letter to Midnighter, thanking him for showing him a better life and telling him about his new family in Dr. Krigstein's New Indonesia.
* KarmicRape: When the Commander is last seen, it is implied Midnighter is about to repay him for raping Apollo by using a rusty jackhammer to do the same to him.
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** Commander is implied to have raped Apollo. After Apollo paralyzes him with a solar blast, Commander is last seen being confronted by Midnighter who intends to [[KarmicRape sodomize him with a jackhammer.]]
** Angie sends four of the racist Americans to a parallel universe ruled by an African dictator named Adolf X who exterminated every non-black person in his universe.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: The few that do get named are only referred to by their codenames. The only exception to this is Tank-Man whose real name is revealed to be Jose Delgado.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain:
** Commander refers to Apollo and Midnighter, who are gay, as "two sissies".
** One of the Americans, an expy of Nick Fury, states that he hates Mexicans, Asians, blacks and ''especially'' French people.
* RapeAndRevenge: The Commander rapes a depowered Apollo -- only for a recovered Apollo to then cripple him and it's implied Midnighter returns the favor with a rusty jackhammer.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: The Commander raped Apollo and two nurses.
* ShadowArchetype: Like The Authority, The Americans are a team of superhumans who seek to enforce their own agenda. Unlike The Authority, they lack a conscience or even the slightest care for civilians.
* SuperSoldiers: They are Krigstein's latest creations. Unlike the previous super soldiers he created, their main purpose is to serve his goals, not that of any government.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:[=G7=] Authority]]
[[quoteright:191:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/g7_authority.jpg]]
A new, corporate-sponsored, religiously-sanctioned version of the Authority who take over the Carrier after the apparent deaths of the original Authority.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: Rush says that she isn't into guys, has a retinue of young women who shower with her, and some of her interactions with Machine suggest that they are a couple, or at least friends with benefits. However, it's never explicitly said that she's a lesbian.
* AntiVillain: Although they are by no means heroes, they still end up doing some good by the very virtue of being Authority's replacement and fighting villains [[LesserOfTwoEvils even worse than them]].
* BaldOfEvil: Colonel and Surgeon are both bald and completely amoral.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Last Call, who's been using a depowered Apollo as a punching bag, tells him "light me, you lazy bastard" while holding a cigarette, unaware that his powers were restored by Midnighter. Apollo obliges... and burns his whole head off while he's at it.
* BlackDudeDiesFirst: Street is the first of the G7 to be killed by Midnighter.
* CardCarryingVillain: Unlike most real-world racists (who would take offence if called so and come up with [[InsaneTrollLogic some convoluted excuses]] to justify their worldview) Colonel openly admits that he is a racist and fiercely proud of it.
* DefiantToTheEnd: To Colonel's credit, when Midnighter has already killed his teammates and is about to kill him, he is unwilling to go down gently and shouts at the hero to bring it on, calling him a "poofy wanker". Not that it saves him from [[CurbStompBattle going down with contemptuous ease]]. Nor getting a hilarious BondOneLiner in response.
-->'''Midnighter:''' ''[delivering a lethal kick to Colonel's neck]'' For the record, [[InsultBackfire I haven't flogged my log in five years]].
* DwindlingParty: Midnighter (and later Apollo) invokes this trope on them once he gets back aboard the Carrier, killing them off one by one.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: Colonel is British, Machine is Japanese, Rush is Canadian, Street is African-American, Last Call is Italian, Surgeon is French and Teuton is German.
* EvilBrit: Colonel is of a LowerClassLout variety. He's crude, vulgar, obnoxious, wears Union Jack painted on his face like a stadium hooligan, and [[NationalStereotypes has a penchant for calling everybody around him a "wanker"]]. It's hard to tell if he has a Cockney accent ([[CaptainObvious since this is a comic, you know]]), but we may safely assume so.
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: Last Call feels constantly compelled to mention his girlfriend in an attempt to distance himself from his notorious predecessor.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: The first thing the G7 Authority do upon gaining access to the Carrier is dump both living and dead refugees the original Authority were housing in another dimension called Re-Space. The living refugees use Re-Space's power to take the wealth and sources from the one percent and declare war on them.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain:
** Colonel is an openly racist and misogynistic hooligan who frequently abuses his teammates ([[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and overuses the "wanker" word]]). His subordinates include a dim-witted African-American street gangster, a vicious and sadistic homophobe and overly emotional (to the point that he is crying more often than he is not), effeminate, bi-curious would-be rapist. Not to mention the very fact that they were all appointed as Authority's replacement by G7 countries as -- supposedly -- the finest representatives of their respective nations.
** Last Call's homophobia is so great that when Dinh transforms them into the original Authority, Last Call breaks free simply because Teuton/Apollo tried to kiss him.
-->'''Colonel''': Congratulations, mate. Your homophobia saved the world.
* ProneToTears: Teuton is prone to crying, much to the annoyance of his teammates. Last Call is especially annoyed as it adds to the perception that he and Teuton are gay just like their predecessors.
* PsychoRangers: They are for the most part evil versions of the Authority.
* RapeAndRevenge: They're party to Swift and the Engineer being turned into sex slaves and Teuton tried to assault Apollo -- and then they're all killed by Apollo and the Midnighter.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: Teuton, Apollo's evil counterpart, tried to sexually assault Apollo before Midnighter killed him.
* {{Sucksessor}}: Despite being 'replacements' for arguably the world's most powerful superteam, Midnighter kills most of them with little trouble. Best demonstrated with Teuton, who, despite being Apollo's replacement, gets killed by a simple [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captive_bolt_pistol captive bolt pistol]] type weapon to the back of his head, and the Surgeon, who supposedly has stolen the Doctor's earth shaman powers, yet gets killed by a simple blast through the chest.[[note]]In comparison, Swift FLEW through the Regenade Doctor, splattering his upper half Mortal Kombat fatality style, and all he did was pull himself together immediately with all the damage gone in two seconds, while cursing that it had actually hurt.[[/note]]
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: The members of this team don't like each other, to put it mildly. The worst offender among them, though, is Colonel. He is supposed to be the leader, but seems more interested in verbally abusing his teammates (especially Rush and Street) and shows nothing but contempt towards them.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Rush is the only member who actually tries to do good. The rest of the team are only in it for the money and perks.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Madorra Chance]]
Madorra Chance is the owner of Viceworld, a planet-sized gambling and pleasure complex that caters to customers from across the multiverse. She appears in issue #0 of the second volume where she leads an invasion of the Authority's world so people can bet on who will win.
----
* DestinationDefenestration: Midnighter kills her by throwing her out a window.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: An InformedAbility. She claims to have the best gunplay enhancements money can buy. Unfortunately, the only time we see her put these to use is against [[LightningBruiser Midnighter]] who easily evades her shots.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: She has black hair with red highlights. Her first outfit consists of a black suit jacket and pants, and a red bra. She is later seen wearing a red top, a red long coat and black pants.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Reality Incorporated]]
The first fully-fledged multiversal corporation, Reality Incorporated holds billion dollar interests in thirty-six parallel universes. They make their money by invading "less-developed" universes, slaughter their populations and plunder their resources. Reality Inc, has terraformed entire universes for industrial exploitation or created "pleasure worlds" for people to indulge in their basest desires without ruining their reputations.
----
* AtrociousArthropods: The InsectoidAliens the Walkers and the Voyagers merged with serve as their main muscle.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Wade Walker was originally a gangster from Chicago during the prohibition era. He encountered a psionic alien species called the Voyagers who merged with him. The Voyagers had existed without physical form for so long that the sheer, unadulterated pleasure of physical experience corrupted them and they formed the MegaCorp that is Reality Incorporated.
* HumanityIsInfectious: A negative example. The Voyagers were originally a race that spread knowledge and evolution to worlds across the multiverse. But when they merged with Wade Walker, they became corrupted by his greed and decadence.
* InsectoidAliens: The aliens that form part of a triad with the Voyagers and the Walkers are a vicious, predatory race whose name is never given. According to Wade, saying the name [[BrownNote ruptures the ear drums.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:John Clay]]
An actor who founded a religious movement called the Church of Transcendence. He makes an enemy of the Authority due to being an extremist whose actions cause them direct harm, particularly the Doctor, Apollo and Midnighter.
