Context Characters / DigimonWarriorTen

Go To

The Warrior Ten (十闘士 -- ''"Juttoushi"'') are a group of ten Digimon that battled Lucemon when it rebelled in ancient times. In defeating Lucemon, they themselves lost their lives, but they were able to seal Lucemon away and their power lived on in the form of the "Human" and "Beast" Legendary Spirits. Futhermore, their traits were inherited by many different Types of Digimon that came after.
----
!!Tropes that apply to more than one of the Warrior Ten or the group as a whole:

* AdvertisedExtra: Despite their importance in ''Frontier'' and its related media, their actual role in the anime itself is largely relegated to flashbacks and even [=AncientGreymon=] and [=AncientGarurumon=], the only ones who make an appearance, only do so in ''Island of Lost Digimon''. The only two that appeared in an anime after ''Frontier'' is [=AncientVolcanomon=] as a minor official of the Bagra Army and [=AncientSphinxmon=] as a random MonsterOfTheWeek and a servant of ''Pharaohmon'' in ''Digimon Ghost Game''. On the other hand, the enemy they're fighting, Lucemon gets vastly more appearances in subsequent media than them and is a BreakoutCharacter of his own right.
* BadassCrew: The ''original'' Badass Crew in the Digimon mythos.
* DeathByOriginStory: Their deaths are the origin story for the Legendary Spirits (and consequently all Hybrid Digimon) as well as the different Digimon their abilities were passed on to.
* ElementalPowers: Each one and their respective spirits represents one of ten elements. In some cases, however, they overlap, as is the case with [=AncientGarurumon=] and [=AncientMegatheriummon=], and [=AncientGreymon=] and [=AncientVolcanomon=].
* GhostMemory: ''Anime/DigimonFrontier'' depicts their wills living on in the Spirits themselves, and in the end, they gain a form of {{Reincarnation}}.
* HeroicSacrifice: Every one of them, except for [=AncientGreymon=] and [=AncientGarurumon=] gave their lives to seal Lucemon away. The latter two would eventually pass on under undisclosed circumstances, but lived long enough to seal away Ornismon too.
* MonsterProgenitor: Each one passed their abilities onto different kinds of Digimon, thereby affecting the forms and abilities they have today.
* PosthumousCharacter: Each of them gave their lives to protect the Digital World, and are all long since dead.
* PrecursorHeroes: They serve this role to the Legendary Spirits.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: [=AncientKazemon=] and [=AncientMermaidmon=] are the only two feminine Digimon in the group.
* TheWorfEffect: Their profiles stress how each of them was incredibly dangerous, or powerful, or smart. They were still hopelessly outgunned by the ''Rookie-level'' Lucemon (an AlmightyJanitor that's way stronger than his level suggests), which killed all but two of them before going down.

Possessing the attribute of "Flame", it is one of the legendary Ten Warriors Digimon that saved the ancient Digital World. An Ultimate who existed only in the distant past, it is told that its strength surpasses that of current Ultimates, and it is certainly an "Ultimate" being. [=AncientGreymon's=] abilities were later passed on to the "Dragon Digimon" of the Greymon-species. It is said that in the previous crusade, it survived to the end alongside [=AncientGarurumon=], and sealed away Lucemon.

* MixAndMatchCritters: [=AncientGreymon's=] appearance is a combination of various details from the Human and Beast Hybrids of Fire, Agnimon and Vritramon. 39* NonMammalianHair: Has some behind its mask.
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: One of two "Greymon"-type digimon portrayed as a quadruped.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: An "Ancient Dragon" digimon. As the various kinds of Greymon are usually depicted as Dinosaurs, this overlaps with DinosaursAreDragons.
* PlayingWithFire: The element that he represents and also the element that almost all Greymon would use.
* ShoulderCannon: It has Vritramon's "Rudriya Darpana" weapons on its shoulders.
* SphereOfDestruction: How "Omega Burst" is described in its profile.
* TornadoMove: "Gaia Tornado", naturally.

It is said that in the previous crusade, it survived to the end alongside [=AncientGreymon=], and sealed away Lucemon.
----
* {{BFS}}: It's dual greatswords which it uses in it's "Sharpness Claymore" attack.
* DefiantToTheEnd: It and [=AncientGreymon=] were the last ones standing in the battle against Lucemon and ultimately defeated him, even after the others had apparently fallen.

* FusionDance: The ''Digital Monster Card Game'' shows that it and [=AncientGreymon=] are able to fuse into Susanoomon.
* HolyHandGrenade: Its "Absolute Zero" attack completely stops the electron movement in its enemy's body with a cold air and a ray of light.
* AnIcePerson: Despite "ice" being under the purview of [=AncientMegatheriummon=], [=AncientGarurumon=] has ice-based powers too; its "Absolute Zero" attack involves him halting the movement of electrons with super-cold air and a ray of light, to freeze its opponent whole.
* LightEmUp: Which is both the Element he represents and used in his "Absolute Zero" attack.
* MixAndMatchCritter: [=AncientGarurumon's=] appearance is a combination of various details from the Human and Beast Hybrids of Light, Wolfmon and Garmmon. 70->'''Attacks:''' Calamity Thunder, Tera Blaster

Possessing the attribute of "Thunder", it is one of the legendary Ten Warriors Digimon that saved the ancient Digital World. An Ultimate who existed only in the distant past, it has an appearance fused from many insects such as the Rhinoceros beetle and Stag beetle. Its shell has a hardness rivaling that of Chrome Digizoid, so the falx on both of its arms can cut through anything, and it can easily lift up objects hundreds of times its own weight. [=AncientBeetlemon's=] abilities were later passed on to the "Insect Digimon".
----
* AbsurdlySharpBlade: The falx on its arms are capable of cutting through anything.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: The aforementioned falx.
* DubText: Its dub name makes it out to be an ancient version of Beetlemon, the Hybrid that evolves using the Human Spirit of Thunder that's known as Blitzmon in the original version. The Japanese name makes no such connection due to the fact that it uses Blitzmon for the Hybrid form.
* EyesDoNotBelongThere: Its eyes are on its lower body, on the part that resembles the head of a stag beetle. In other words, on [=AncientBeetlemon's=] ''crotch''.
* HostileWeather: "Calamity Thunder", which causes thunder and lightning on the level of a "super disaster".
* JapaneseBeetleBrothers: Its upper body inherits its motif from the Kabuterimon family, while its lower body inherits its design motif from the Kuwagamon family (and indirectly from Stingmon, who gave [=GranKuwagamon=] the same exposed muscle coils shown on this digimon's legs).
* KamehameHadouken: How it's depicted firing "Tera Blaster" in the second ''VideoGame/DigimonBattleSpirit'' game.
* MixAndMatchCritter: A humanoid rhinoceros beetle's torso mounted centaur-like on a stag beetle's body.
* OurCentaursAreDifferent: It's a beetle-centaur! That's got to be a new one.
* ShockAndAwe: Its attacks are themed around thunder and electrical shocks.
* SuperStrength: [=AncientBeetlemon=] is able to lift objects hundreds of times its own weight.
* ThunderBeetle: Chronologically, it's the franchise's very first electrogenic beetle monster. This is particularly notable as, since [=AncientBeetlemon=] is said to be the ancestor of all future insect Digimon, the prominence of ShockAndAwe powers is future lines of beetle Digimon is likely directly caused by [=AncientBeetlemon=]'s association with electricity.

* ShoutOut:
** [=AncientWisemon=] resembles a Black Mage from the ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' series.
** "Laplace no Ma" is a reference to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laplace%27s_Demon "Laplace's Demon"]], the first articulation of determinism to be published, which was put forth by Pierre-Simon Laplace. Its Special Move "Elder Sign" is a reference to the "Elder Sign", a magical symbol created by the Elder Gods as a form of protection against the Great Old Ones in Cthulhu Mythos.
* TheSmartGuy: Due to its SuperIntelligence, it can be classified as this to the Warrior Ten.
* SuperIntelligence: Stated to be the wisest person in the Digital World, with not a single thing that it doesn't know.
