'''You'd Expect''': That Umbradevimon spams his [[FantasticNuke Doomsday Viper]] attack like there is no tomorrow while he is at his strongest.\\
'''Instead''': He just stands there and let the other Digidestineds spam their attacks on him, only lightly retaliating their attacks.\\
'''Result''': The Digidestined managed to found his weakness [[spoiler: by depowering the Digimons that are made up of him]] which result in his own downfall. "Piedmon" completely made sure of that.

* AngstWhatAngst: The Digidestined don't seemed to have any sort of nightmares or signs of PTSD despite being straight-up tortured by Devimon and Darkheart. Shaun ironically subverts this as he is shown angsting a lot, even admitting at one point wanting to commit suicide before changing his mind.

* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** The inclusion of ''Franchise/{{Halo}}'' Digimons such as Elitemon and Gravemon. Some fans believe that they fit into the story, gives the story a layer of politics and diplomacy and since this is the Digital World, many Digimons based on other series can exist. Others believe that they were shoehorned into the story, only introduced during the last two-thirds into the story and does not fit with the MythArc of the Zero 2 universe, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and never called their attack names]].

* CounterpartComparison: 2 and a half years later, another ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' remake is fully established called Fanfic/Digimon02TheStoryWeNeverTold that has a much more cynical and darker version of the canon and follows more closely towards the canon episodes.

** The Digimon Emperor crosses it in the eyes of the Digidestined when he used their Digimons to create a monster as freakish as Chimeramon. [[spoiler: For him to be EasilyForgiven by the same Digidestined later is insulting to the readers]].

** When Demon finally decides to unleash his full power and beats up Shaun, the other Digidestined and their partners show up, and just when you think there will be an epic confrontation, Piedmon one-shots Demon using his soul banishment who then reveals to be [[spoiler: Myotismon]] in disguise who turns out to have powers even greater than that of Zeedmilleniummon only to be defeated in just two chapters. [[spoiler: Try replacing Demon with [[InvincibleVillain Madara]], Piedmon with [[TheDogWasTheMastermind Black Zetsu]], and Myotismon with [[{{God}} Kaguya]] from the ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' universe and you will find a lot of similarities with the act]].
** One of Cody's main trait is learning how to be humble and not be arrogant with pride, which is why he is the wielder of the Crest of Humility. Ironically, in another Anime/DigimonAdventure02 [[FanFic/Digimon02TheStoryWeNeverTold remake]], Cody kept giving in to his pride by completely refusing to believe that Ken is redeemed and is suspicious of him in every way, whether or not he proved his own worth.

* CharacterRerailment: The author did a massive effort in order to make [[spoiler: Myotismon]] a threat again; First, in this story, he has no relation with Oikawa at all, instead he ressurects himself thanks to the Dark Crystal he obtained in the wormhole sectors. He is also stated to have power even greater than Zeedmilleniummon and shows it when he curb-stomps the entire Digidestined [[spoiler: and destroys (Agumon's) soul]]. His [[LotusEaterMachine ''Mental Illusion'']] is changed from revealing the Digidestined's greatest desires into their own worst fear. Finally, he does not get take down by the Children TalkingTheMonsterToDeath but rather by the Digidestined fusing together and fights him head on. [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking And his name is changed from Malomyotismon to Belialmyotismon]] since the author associates Malo with mayonaise, thus making it difficult to take him seriously.

* AngstWhatAngst: The Digidestined don't seemed to have any sort of mental scars despite being straight-up tortured by Devimon and Darkheart.

* BaseBreaker:

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Davis and Cody received drastically improved characterizations to the point that they become a lot more likeable than they originally were.
** Davis primarily has a distinct personality compared to his own idol Tai as well having a lot more characterization and CharacterDevelopment when [[FlatCharacter compared]] to the [[Anime/DigimonAdventure02 original]]. The fan fiction portrays Davis as a intelligent but naive and reckless kid who tries to gain Kari's attention and become a worthwile leader. Also he gains an evil Digivolution on himself into Darkheart due to his jealousy and hatred for TK which changed him from a hot-header kid into a truly competent leader. It helps that the other Digidestined never abandon him or laugh behind his back, such as during the assault on the Emperor's base (Where Davis is the one who gives the idea of infiltrating the fortress) and has his crush Kari treat him much nicer than her canon incarnation.
** Cody is always portrayed as a mature and silent kid but we have a bit more explanation and depth for this. Under Hiroki's advice on not to cry so as to shoulder his own mother Anna's pain, Cody maintains a tough and wise barrier who tries as hard as possible not to break down in tears to become a reliable and humble support in front of everybody. We also see more of Cody's Kendo training the [[ShownTheirWork details and research the author has gone with the style is staggering]].

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: The three most hated Digidestined, Davis, Yolei, and Cody received drastically improved characterizations to the point that they become a lot more likeable than they originally were.

** Yolei is much less annoying compared to how she was portrayed. Her hot temper and headstrong personality is more emphasized here and she never backs down from a challenge (Ironically, the one time she whines about going home, Ken [[ArmorPiercingSlap slaps]] her for it). Her romance and relationship with Ken is given more screentime here and not some [[StrangledByTheRedString cheap pairing epilogue]] like the canon.

* MartyStu: Shaun prior to the Umbradevimon arc. In his first appearance, he single-handedly defeats all 31 of the Emperor's Digimon that are about to kill Davis, knows all about the Emperor's movement, identity & abilities and uses it to help the entire Digidestined, has (Agumon) which is Tai's Digimon, the Crest of Wisdom and a Mega transformation, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and beats up Davis in a hand to hand combat without so much as to flinching]]. While his status does began to slip overtime, it is only after the Digimon Emperor arc ended that his status is subverted eventually deconstructed, [[spoiler: Shaun is essentially a KidFromTheFuture who attempted to time travel to the past in order to stop himself from releasing Demon only to time travel way back into the past; about nine earth years before Anime/DigimonAdventure begins and is stuck over there for 5765 years gaining massive amounts of combat experience and hardships and turning him from an innocent kid into a battle-hardened adult within a child's body]].
