* DifficultySpike: The last couple missions in both stories really ramp up the difficulty greatly with big confusing maps, [[TheComputerIsACheatingBastard opponents that have access to more units they could possibly ever have,]] and starting you off with weak armies that need to grow quickly or be crushed. The bright side is that the [[IdiotAI game's AI never really gets smarter.]]

Wizards become especially important and you better hope you got some that can help with your resource gathering and/or sabotaging the enemy. * GameBreaker: Perhaps the most useful combinations of wizards in the game is Sweat Wiz and Ninja Wiz. Neither can hurt enemies, but their abilities give you access to unmatched industry: Ninja Wiz can make any friendly unit invisible to the enemy until they attack. Meanwhile Sweat Wiz increases the speed your worker units gather and deliver resources. So with these two wizards your work force will be both incredibly efficient and, after being made invisible, completely unstoppable since workers never attack units without you telling them and since invisible units are can't be hit by ''any attack'', there is nothing your enemies can do to stop them.

This strategy can make nearly every story mission in the game a joke, [[NintendoHard though it really only evens the playing ground for the endgame missions.]]
** Dragons are most likely this intentionally: they can fly over all obstacles, their fire attack kills all units in one hit, and they can only be hit by arrows and magic. Given warriors are generally more useful and cheaper than archers and wizards are a valuable unit (and sometimes can't even attack), sometimes an entire army will be completely unable to deal with the dragon unless they planned ahead and had extra archers. Though there are three things that balance out the dragon: their fire attack is quite slow, you can only get them by finding dragon eggs on the map, and there can be only one full-grown dragon in your army at a time.

* NarmCharm: The game uses a large amount of digitized speech, but it is so hammily acted it is more charming than annoying.
