* TakeThatScrappy:
** The TropeNamer's picture is seen in "Uncle Dickie's Happy Sunshine Children's Hour" on a bulletin board labeled "Bad Cartoon Characters". Subverted in that Scrappy bites back by swapping his spot with Dick. The ensuing chaos that results from the main characters trying to get back in the networks' good graces could well explain his motive.
** Any time something bad happens to I.Q. could be this for anyone who doesn't like him. Acknowledged in-universe in "What A Wacky Development This Is" with I.Q.'s name in the sitcom parody.
** Subverted again: In "Double Trouble", Dick Dastardly's CuteButPsycho fan fires the TropeNamer out of a cannon in order to attack her opponent. He is implied to have promptly died shortly afterward, and some applause can be heard off-screen...only we find out a few seconds later that Scrappy ''survived'', which the audience would have seen. They were congratulating Scrappy for being MadeOfIron.

* OlderThanTheyThink: The show moving less from racing and more on subplots unrelated to racing may seem off, but this is actually a more faithful version of ''Film/TheGreatRace'' than in the original series. In ''The Great Race'', the main characters at one point stop the race to watch an old west show and get into a bar fight, get stranded on a iceberg for a few days, and get roped into a big conspiracy involving the villain getting involved in a silly PrinceAndPauper plot. These are all things that places the race itself as more of a side story, much like in this show.

* UnexpectedCharacter: With all the Hanna-Barbera cameos throughout the series, it’s doubtful anyone expected a cameo of [[WesternAnimation/TwoStupidDogs The Chief from Super Secret]] WesternAnimation/SecretSquirrel.

** The TropeNamer's picture is seen in “Uncle Dickie’s Happy Sunshine Children’s Hour” on a bulletin board labeled "Bad Cartoon Characters". Possibly subverted in that Scrappy bites back by swapping his spot with Dick (supposedly-we only see the culprits paws, which are the right size and color to be his). The ensuing chaos that results from the main characters trying to get back in the networks' good graces could well explain his motive.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The episode "Cave Racers" takes place in prehistoric times, but doesn't feature the Slag Brothers from the original series in any capacity.
** Same for Lazy Luke and Blubber Bear not showing up in "Smokey and the Racers", despite featuring hillbilly bears at the start.
** This is addressed in "Under The Rainbow", where two leprechauns (after being covered in hair) hit each other with sticks while hiding behind a racecar-shaped rock. The other racers, besides I.Q., reminisce about the Slag Brothers. WordOfGod said they intend to use the Slag brothers in that episode, but were later told they couldn't because of rights issues.
** The absence of the Ant Hill Mob and other original racers is acknowledged in “Signed, Sealed and Wacky”, where Dick Dastardly mentions in a [[TakeThatAudience rant to the people who haven’t watched the show]] that they didn’t receive a pay cut for the new series. This is accompanied by a scene from the original show’s intro where the old racers are replaced by static outlines.

** The show's lesser emphasis on racing and heavier focus on comedy are either done poorly, shouldn't have been done at all, or are just fine.

What a relief!

* AlternativeJokeInterpretation: For those who like Scrappy and aren't content to leave his appearance (and possible death) in "Double Trouble" as just a one-off joke, there are many questions about how he got into Dick Dastardly's cannon. Did he actually realize (instead of being tricked by Dick's creepy opponent's cutesy persona) that said opponent was a bad guy and snuck into the cannon to try to take her down for good?) Or, more darkly, as he's explicitly an outcast in this world, was he DrivenToSuicide? (especially considering in real life, he's {{Misblamed}}) Was the audience applauding because they hate him that much, or did they thought it was just part of the show, or they thought he was trying to sabotage Dastardly and were applauding not because he died, but because they saw it as a DyingMomentOfAwesome?
