* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: Colonel Kubritz is a US government official who detains and captures "illegal aliens" without trial or jury, imprisoning them indefinitely with the paper-thin pretense of protecting the country even if it comes at the expense of actual legal citizens. She also dismisses all evidence to the contrary (even from her own allies), doubling down on her decisions and siding with an Authoritarian figure everyone else says is untrustworthy. It does not help that Krel - one of her two biggest targets - has a human form deliberately made to look latino.

** In the previous series, Claire's mom, as soon as she finds out Trolls exist, wants to warn the mayor about the impending apocalypse underneath Acadia because the mayor has a duty to protect the city, and the people of Arcadia should know they're in danger. However, the Trollhunters talk her out of it because if the masquerade breaks, then the Trollmarket refugees and the humans of Arcadia will be imperiled by this sudden change in status quo, especially with Gunmar on the way and humans lacking the necessary firepower, [[StrawmanHasAPoint despite the very good points Mrs. Nuñez brought up about getting as much help as they could to fight Gunmar and Morgana]]. When the Tarrons find out that Morrando is planning on invading Earth, they immediately decide to alert the Earthan Authorities and recruit as many allies as they can despite the threat of Area 49-B because they know they can't take on Morrando's army alone.
** Some characters who were underdeveloped in the previous series were given greater depth in this one. The most notable being Uhl, who went from being an unsympathetic overly stern teacher to a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who becomes fiercely protective of Aja and Krel.

** Kubritz crosses it in the SeriesFinale. Before, she at least had some standards about Earth not getting killed. "Idiot Plot" and "What an Idiot!" are now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot:
** The reason why the whole show happens is that [[spoiler:Vex actually believed Morando would stage a bloodless coup and no one would get hurt in exchange for getting the chance to avenge his family. Thanks to that action, he gets dozens of aliens killed and starts a power vacuum. He does try to make up for it by keeping the kids safe but has to do so on a "mud planet" where his warrior behavior makes him look like an unfit guardian to the local authorities and bounty hunters can come at any time. It even gets lampshaded in the show itself when Aja and Krel find out and are beyond furious to know their suffering could have been avoided]].
** Colonel Kubritz with her Area 66 management turns her subplot into this. While targeting Aja and Krel for breaking into her facility and making her men look like fools is understandable, [[spoiler:releasing an electric being who claims the two are wanted fugitives with a huge bounty isn't after he caused a city-wide power outage and was supposedly attacking civilians]]. And of course, there is the bit where [[spoiler:she works with General Morando to capture the royals and not realizing that he's genocidal, xenocidal, and power-hungry. The Arcadian locals when they find out tell her that she's no better than the alien betters she's supposedly fighting. Eventually, Kubritz pays for the betrayal of Earth-- with her life]].

* WhatAnIdiot: Considering that Seamus's father was being outwardly racist towards Krei and implying that a brown-skinned kid new to the country couldn't be good at math, he has no leg to stand on for accusing him of cheating. Therefore, Senor Uhl should have said as much since comments like that in real life can lead to rather controversial court cases. Instead, he and Miss Janeth agree to humor Seamus's father and have the boys participate in a math duel. Varvatos himself comes off as the most reasonable one when he threatens to skin Seamus to get new curtain drapes since he takes none of the nonsense.

* DiagnosedByTheAudience: Eli has shown many hints that he may be mildly diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder, as he's ''obsessed'' with proving the existence of the supernatural and usually suspicious to anyone who disbelieves his evidence. He was even paranoid that Aja and Krel were aliens that have come to destroy humanity (which he later learns he was wrong and was just way over his head).

* CatharsisFactor:
** While it's a NoSell on Kubritz, Eli shows no fear when [[spoiler:she grabs him with her superpowered armor and he proceeds to pelt her with ninja stars. When it doesn't work, he merely admits that [[CasualDangerDialogue he needs to upgrade his weapons]]. He exposes Kubritz for being a giant power-hungry bully while refusing to give up his new best friends]]. This motivates the rest of the townfolk to lie where the Tarrons are, and then tell her off for threatening innocent children. [[spoiler:Aja and Krel proceed to lead her away while everyone else cheers. It's revealed that this convinces Nancy to give Varvatos a chance; she gives him TheBigDamnKiss and says when Toby is ready for college, she wants to move to Akiridion with him]].
** In addition to being a GutPunch, [[spoiler:Morando's death via supersonic cannon is "Glorious!" in Varvatos's words. Considering the royal parents sacrifice their cores -- and their lives-- to ensure Aja and Krel don't have to make that choice, it's satisfying that he goes "POOF!" like that]].

* MoralEventHorizon:
** The Zenon Brotherhood crosses it by kidnapping Varvatos in season 2 after his attempted SuicideMission and gloating about how they're going to deliver him to Morando for eternal torture.
** Kubritz crosses it in the SeriesFinale. Before, she at least had some standards about Earth not getting killed. To emphasize how bad this is, Agent Costas turns himself into the Akiridions and explains he can't side with her on her scheme to lure out the Tarrons: [[spoiler:by taking everyone in Arcadia hostage under the guise of "martial law". To show she's snapped, she starts firing at innocent civilians at the screening of Toby's movie, who at first mistake it as AllPartOfTheShow. Then she rounds them up and threatens to murder them all if they don't give up the Tarrons, taking up Eli in a NeckLift when he fires ninja stars at her. Detective Scott refuses to recognize her word as law, since JurisdictionFriction doesn't begin to cover her war crimes against the people he's sworn to protect]]. It's no surprise that [[spoiler:though Aja convinces her that Morando is going to destroy the Earth anyway, no one mourns Kubritz when Morando crushes her with a car and blows her up to boot]].
