* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Orchestral arrangement of Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer" is a delight to listen to, and the light playful mood of the piece fits perfectly in the lovable scamp con artist mood.

** The Best Actor nomination went to Creator/RobertRedford over Creator/PaulNewman, who didn't even get a Best Supporting Actor consideration either.
* FridgeBrilliance: Music/MarvinHamlisch's adaption of Creator/ScottJoplin's ragtime music may be an odd choice for the score since they're from the turn of the century and out of fashion by the time of the movie's setting, 1936. However, it was the music of the younger days of older con men like Luther, Walter Gondorf and the other members of the team. The jazz of the more "modern" gangster wouldn't fit. On top of that, it fits with the wire con that the main characters are running, which they chose specifically because it was old and no longer in style.

* WTHCastingAgency: Hollywood MrFanservice Creator/RobertRedford's LoveInterest is rather plain. And is not like she has a intriguing personality or something like other movies tried to address, she is a random diner waitress [[spoiler:though she is actually an assassin]]. Which is a nice case of FridgeBrilliance: she seems just the kind of unimportant, tertiary character you'd never suspect of having any relevance to the story. Plus, it makes it more believable that she'd be into a random, shady guy whose name she does not know just for his attractiveness.
