** The Mask is also this as well with him being too strong toward any girls he comes across but his sweet nature, his kind heart and his charisma personality helps him win them over eventually and is very well liked and loved by the people of Edge City because of his good hearted nature toward them.

* {{Awesome Ego}}: The Mask is this with him having an ego and loves to taunt his enemies about how he managed to outthink all of them with his quick thinking and using his trolling ways to trick them into thinking he is dead or defeated only to show up at the last second to defeat them and coming out on top as a result showing that he does have a good reason for having an ego as he is genuinely very smart despite his quirks and protecting Edge City with his most outlandish and bizarre ways and breaking the egos of his enemies in the most magnificent way possible and will not let everyone forget that.

* CrazyIsCool: The Mask is a {{Cloudcuckoolander}} who likes to spend a lot of time at the Coco Bongo and he is very lazy as he spends half of the time having fun instead of fighting crime and he's a troll as well but he is very effective at being a superhero and he does fight the supervillains with his most outlandish and bizzare ways which does defeat the supervillains and he is very clever as well tricking his enemies into thinking that he is defeated or dead only to reveal himself to them at the last moment and able to put himself at the top in the end showing why his enemies become afraid of him and he tricks them again by posing as Dr Neuman as well and did a brilliant good job of acting like Dr Neuman until the real one calls and even though he's exposed he defeats all of them in just a few seconds and puts himself on top again and showing why he is feared by his enemies.

* EvilIsSexy: Inverted with The Mask and Eve who are very easy looking and The Mask has a very charismatic personality which helps him win girls over despite his inappropriate behavior putting them off at first while Eve has a very attractive appearance with a red dress, blue eyeshadows, jewelry, a necklace on her neck and earrings on her ears which are squares and high red heel shoes as well but both of them are superheroes who are good hearted people and who genuinely care about their dogs, their friends and the people who live in Edge City.

** Eve is very well liked by fans due to being a female version of The Mask and having the accent and personality of a southern american woman and showing herself to have a good heart like The Mask as well with her love and care for Stanley.

* FoeYayShipping: In "Bride of Pretorius," Pretorius shows a disturbing admiration for the Mask's abilities, even telling him "If you were a woman, I'd marry you." This [[{{Squick}} squicks]] The Mask out about as much as it does the audience. Later on in the same episode after Eve survives all attempts to kill her, Pretorius decides to offer her to marry him as a last resort but Eve [[{{Squick}} squicks]] out just like The Mask did and rejects him instead preferring to be with Stanley the man she loves and who she genuinely cares about rather than be with someone like Pretorius.

* {{They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character}}
** Evelyn and her alter ego Eve show themselves to be the female versions of Stanley and The Mask with Evelyn being sweet, kind and nice like Stanley while Eve being crazy, wacky, kind, polite, nice, heroic, and brave like The Mask but they don't appear other than just one episode which could have been interesting to see them in other episodes and what will happen if The Mask meets Evelyn or Eve.
** Masked Dr Neuman shows himself to be an {{Evil Counterpart}} of The Mask as he shows himself to be funny, polite and nice but scary and terrifying as he shows the worst sides of insanity along with him willing to be a supervillain unlike The Mask which also could have been interesting to see as well and the fact he only appear in one episode leads to more disappointment as it could also show how The Mask deals with someone who is the opposite of him.
** Masked Peggy Brandt shows herself to be someone interesting as she is not evil but not good either as while she does genuinely cares about Stanley but is egotistical as she cares more about checking on her appearance than rescuing someone but she only appears in one episode as well so it is disappointing that she did not appear in more episodes.

** The Mask though very well liked and loved by the people in Edge City still has no better luck with women because of him being too strong or because of interference of his enemies. However, thanks to his charisma charm and his sweet personality he manages to bring girls over to his side. The Mask knows he can’t be with them forever, but he makes the most of it and though he knows that he could keep his face on and live on forever, he decides to take his face off because he cares and loves Stanley very much knowing that will erase him. So even though his time is short, he makes the most of it as possible. Just like Stanley he can have a case of bad luck. The Mask lets Stanley out because he has a life of his own and therefore lets himself become lifeless so that Stanley can live his own life.
** Evelyn is a shy, sweet, kind and nice girl who meets Stanley and they both agree to go on a date so while at Stanley’s apartment throughout it all she gets nervous and decide go to the bathroom to clear her head but then loses her glasses when she opened the closet and when she finds them they are attached to the Mask of Loki which it then wraps around her head and since it’s the first time she put it on she ended up remembering being in a laboratory unaware that her alter ego took control of her completely and when they get back to the apartment she and Stanley break up because their dogs could not get along which would have gone better eventually but decided that’s enough reason to break up which can you make feel bad for her since she’s going to wonder what happened on her date with Stanley but hopefully when she meets Stanley again she will get her answer from him.
** Eve is a wild, crazy, good-hearted, nice, polite and kind woman who genuinely cares and loves Stanley very much but unfortunately they can’t be together because of the fact that Evelyn needs to be let out eventually and Stanley got scared of her first because of her wild, unpredictable and lustful nature but he does see how much of a nice girl she is which makes it heartbreaking as he take her face off so that The Mask can save the world from being destroyed by a comet that is heading towards Earth which also can make you sad as well since she would have done it anyway and if Stanley asked her to make another mask so that he can wear it to save the world then those two would have got along like a house on fire but since she only appeared once and Evelyn and Stanley decide to break up which can make the possibility of her coming back unsure but it’s likely she will come back eventually.

** The film is considered a cult comedy film in France. This has a lot to do with the European French dub of the film, especially Creator/EmmanuelCurtil's hilarious performance as Stanley Ipkiss/the Mask (some even argues that [[SubbingVersusDubbing the dub is better than the original]]). * ChaoticNeutral: The Mask itself is this, with any further alignment coming from the nature of its host. In the hands of someone nice like Stanley, it causes goofy chaos without actually hurting anyone, and will occasionally stop actual bad people. In the hands of someone evil like Blackbeard, it will straight-up ''murder'' people.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: There's a rather dedicated following of fans from Japan, as despite how The Mask is a representation of anarchy, which Japan [[AmericansHateTingle typically dislikes]], Japanese fans tend to view Stanley as an EscapistCharacter due to his relatable position as a beleaguered {{Salaryman}}, viewing The Mask as symbolic of venting out frustrations that Japanese workers tend to not get the chance to do.

** Kellaway *also* only gets chewed out by the Mayor because he shoves the man aside with a rude remark on his weight, only to start grovelling as soon as he realises who he's talking to.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: [[HeroicDog Milo]] has a ''major'' fan base for his cuteness, intelligence, and loyalty to Stanley.

* HarsherInHindsight:

*** Speaking of ''Son of the Mask'', "Baby's Wild Ride" dealt with a baby putting on the Mask and the expected chaos that ensues. "Son of the Mask" has a similar premise but with the baby's Mask powers being internalized rather than the result of putting the Mask on.

* FanficFuel: The very concept of the Mask invites one to speculate who could find it, what they would become if they put it on, and what they would do with the power. Imagine if the Mask washed onto the shore of another television show, or your favorite cartoon, or another comic character's hometown...

* OneSceneWonder: The stone-faced policewoman during the "Cuban Pete" scene makes quite an impression when she's under the Mask's influence.

* IdiotPlot: The Mask repeatedly performs clearly superhuman feats in front of numerous eyewitnesses, and even gets caught on camera moving at superhuman speeds once. Despite this, it takes half the movie before it occurs to anyone other than Stanley that The Mask might not be a normal human, and nobody ever considers that his powers might allow him to become ImmuneToBullets or escape from handcuffs. This even includes people who are ''currently'' watching him flagrantly defy the laws of physics. While it's understandable that people might not want to readily accept an outright supernatural explanation for the Mask's powers, you'd think they might at least make some attempt to figure out how his tricks work before trying to attack him. This may be somewhat justified in that while Stanley had the mask, he was using it to make everything like a silly golden age cartoon. In the movie, the mask can affect reality beyond its user, which means that while Stanley had the mask, the world became like a cartoon with everyone becoming part of the act. Notably, it's only when Dorian takes the mask that people are legitimately terrified of what the mask and its user can do.

* HilariousInHindsight: The episode "Broadway Malady" centers on a disastrous musical made from the "Mad Monkey" movie series, much like the ''[[Theatre/SpiderManTurnOffTheDark Spider-Man]]'' musical would years later.

** During the climax, Ipkiss hands a gun to Charlie to help the hostages escape. Richard Jeni who played Charlie shot himself 13 years later.

** In the movie and the animated series Stanley and the Mask are this with Stanley being too shy while the Mask comes on too strong but both of them are sweet, kind and the Mask is very well liked by Edge City partly because of it while Stanley has a few friends and a couple of girls drawn to him also because of it as well. In the comics? Not so much.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: "Cuban Pete." A dance number in the style of a Spanish flamenco dance with Stanley using the Mask's powers to start a full-scale song and dance number. Afterwards, Stanley escapes the police, and never mentions it again. Although, Kellaway and Doyle are heard grousing about it later as they're leaving the station (and before Stanley gets dumped in front of them by Dorian's henchmen).

*** A lot of songs are this for the entire soundtrack: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9nY1M2o4zc Let the Good times Roll]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFgVrEjS47s Hi De Ho]], and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etjDpCIztdA Bounce Around]] are just some of the best songs on the album. A lot of the songs go from old-school Jazz to R&B, and Hip-Hop. The [[NeoclassicalPunkZydecoRockabilly mixing of genres]] in some songs makes it an easy ear listener.

** When Stanley/The Mask is getting arrested in the park, he remarks "Where's a camcorder when you need one" in a joking matter when some police officers grab him rather roughly. Now with the rise of PoliceBrutality and [[DirtyCop Corruption]], everyone is being advised to record their encounters with cops.

* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Bizarrely enough, ''the dog!'' His comic takes are uncannily human, especially the way he pauses when prison guard stirs as Milo is stealing his keys.

** In the OscarBait scene, The Mask references ''Literature/AChristmasCarol'' (among other things). Fifteen years later, Creator/JimCarrey starred in ''A Christmas Carol''.
** In this movie, Jim Carrey wears a green mask, years later, he'd do it again for ''Film/HowTheGrinchStoleChristmas''.
** An adorkable protagonist wears something that makes him act wild, culminating in a dance number. Also included is a love interest who sings and a love rival who turns into a monster when he wears said item. ''Film/SpiderMan3'' would run with this exact same plot.

** Or the last time Creator/JimCarrey gets powered up with a [[Film/SonicTheHedgehog22022 enchant green energy]].

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Not including deleted scenes, Dorian Mask only gets one real use out of his powers. Fortunately the character is so intimidating, you might not notice.
* TrailerJokeDecay: The trailer featured most of the [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments crowning moments of funny]] of the movie, so those who saw the trailer first were left unsatisfied by the end of the movie. Averted with [[spoiler:Milo getting a chance to don the mask]], which didn't turn up in the pre-release trailers.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The effects of The Mask still hold up to this day. It helps that they aren't spectacle so much as necessity, as a live-action movie about a man turning into a living cartoon character can't really be done without these kind of computer graphics.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: The film certainly has as Saturday-morning cartoon feel, but given its inclusion of not-so-subtle adult humor and a rather crass [[ToiletHumor toilet gag]], it's not hard to see why it was given a PG-13 rating. It also aired on Creator/CartoonNetwork, though the version that aired on Cartoon Network was a PG-edited version made for network TV viewing and was once released as a family-friendly alternative to the PG-13 version.

%%* {{Iron Woobie}}: The Mask, like Stanley, is a lonely being who knows that he will remain lifeless forever if something happens to Stanley, but he takes it all with a smile and calmness showing that unlike Stanley he is willing to go back to being lifeless if it means to bring happiness to Tina the woman who showed him and Stanley kindness.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Everything about Cookie [=BaBoom=]'s assassination plot in "Flight as a Feather" stops being funny due to 9/11, the Janet Jackson WardrobeMalfunction fiasco in 2004 (well Cookie's ShamefulStrip is still a ''little'' funny even after that), the UsefulNotes/BillClinton - Monica Lewinsky scandal (though the idea of a corrupt city politician having an affair with a woman who has a job in the sex entertainment biz is more reminiscent of Eliot Spitzer, which wouldn't happen until the late 2000s). and an incident in which a man named [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Wells_(bank_robber) Brian Wells]] robbed a bank with a bomb strapped to his neck (not as outrageous as a suicide belt bikini, but the principle's the same) and died when it detonated. To put it in simple terms: There's ''no way in Hell'' a sequence like that would even be considered suitable to air on anything that's not PG-rated (at least in America), as America has gotten more squeamish over content on TV between the 1990s and the 21st century (especially if it's sexual and/or is considered "in bad taste" due to a recent tragedy).
