** Other than that, a few people were quite upset that Sasuke was DemotedToExtra in this film. On the flip side, other people were OK with it, since this is supposed to be Naruto and Hinata's love story, and unlike Sakura (whom Naruto previously had a [[LovingAShadow one-sided shallow crush]] on up until [[ShipSinking Chapter 469]]), Sasuke was never part of that particular equation. Yet more people very much ''appreciated'' it, since Sasuke is such a BaseBreakingCharacter himself.

Reverting change as per this ATT thread, as editor who made the edit relinquished their side of the argument by declining to discuss it

** Sakura's speech caused controversy among the Fandom, both among shippers and non-shippers. A certain sector agrees with her, another thinks that she is wrong and that Naruto actually loved her, and a third group agrees with her in part, but considers her a hypocrite because they consider that her feelings for Sasuke were just as superficial as Naruto's.

I decided to change it, because this controversy is also common among non-shippers.

For all we know Naruto and Hinata are sealed away unconscious, outside of time, so it's not such a bad fate for them as it is for other people

* HarsherInHindsight: Naruto's oath to Hinata during the final moments of the movie becomes this after chapter 77 of the Boruto manga. In fact, ''the entire movie'' becomes a '''lot harder''' to watch knowing what fate befalls the main couple.

Suffice to say, the fact that Hinata's dream featured a still-alive Neji, even though he ''died'' to save Naruto and Hinata in Chapter 614, and then everyone, including Hinata, woke up from their dream and attended Neji's funeral in Chapter 699, plus the subsequent releases of ''LightNovel/NarutoHiden'', ''Manga/{{Naruto Gaiden}}'', ''Anime/BorutoNarutoTheMovie'' and the sequel manga ''[[Manga/{{Boruto}} Boruto: Naruto Next Generations]]'', not to mention [[WordOfGod Kishimoto's own statements in several post-series interviews]]--statements that are heavily supported by the fact that this movie was confirmed '''with''' Kishimoto's approval and direct involvement ''two years'' before the manga ended--have {{Jossed}} this theory to hell and back. Currently, only a few [[DieForOurShip militant shippers]] still take this theory with any grain of seriousness.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Many fans found it odd that Naruto never talked to Hinata about how she confessed her love for him, even after they began to have [[UnresolvedSexualTension significant]] [[HoldingHands moments]] [[MindlinkMates together]] in the [[WarArc Fourth Shinobi World War Arc]]. This movie reveals that [[WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove Naruto does not understand the concept of romantic love]], thinking that Hinata's love for him was like his love of ramen. Considering that he never had the unconditional affection that most people had with their families due to being both an orphan and the village pariah for most of his childhood, [[FridgeBrilliance this actually makes a lot of sense]].

* LesYay: While the movie is about Naruto and Hinata becoming a couple, it doesn't stop Sakura's CoolBigSis role from creating tender moments with Hinata, and that leads to thinking about her and Hinata as a couple.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** Hinata gets hit by a vision that reveals to her that she is the only one that can destroy the Tenseigan and subsequently save the world. She doesn't know where the Tenseigan is located but she knows that [[BigBad Toneri]] is going to eventually come to pick her up in order to take her to his castle and marry her because he believes [[EntitledToHaveYou it's his destiny]].\\
'''You'd expect:''' She confides this bit of important information to ''somebody'' on her team, preferably the commanding officer with an IQ of over 200. The group then forms an effective plan in order to trick Toneri, track down and infiltrate his castle, locate and destroy the Tenseigan, save Hanabi and prevent the world from being destroyed.\\
'''Instead:''' She remains completely silent and opts to make a scarf instead until Toneri shows up to pick her up. She goes on to attempt to locate and destroy the Tenseigan alone in a fortress surrounded by enemies.\\
'''Result:''' Naruto gets seriously wounded and [[NotGoodWithRejection his heart gets broken]] thinking that Hinata betrayed him and stopped loving him. He then goes into a four-day HeroicBSOD giving up on everything, and is only able to snap out of it after being told by Sakura that the rejection was obviously an act, and that [[SingleTargetSexuality Hinata's feelings for him would never change]]. Meanwhile, Hinata gets caught red-handed by the BigBad trying to destroy his WeaponOfMassDestruction, and [[HypnotizeTheCaptive she gets turned into one of his puppets]]. And THEN it turns out that [[DidntThinkThisThrough her power alone is not enough to destroy the Tenseigan anyway]]. Really, it was arguably only because of a bit of ContrivedCoincidence that the world didn't get destroyed. Of course, it's possible Hinata feared that if she told anyone her plan then they would try to stop her, but the plan she went with was likely even more risky.
** Toneri's Tenseigan is fully activated. He captures Hinata and [[DamselInDistress puts her in a cage]]. The only thing that stands between him and completion of his plans is Naruto.\\
'''You'd expect:''' He uses the same successful tactic ''he used previously in the movie''. He [[ManaDrain drains Naruto of his chakra]] and kills him while he is completely powerless (of course, this assumes Naruto would fall for the same attack).\\
'''Instead:''' He goes into a big CockFight with Naruto while he is at full strength, [[VillainBall wanting to demonstrate to Hinata how powerful his Tenseigan is]].\\
'''Result:''' He suffers a humiliating defeat.
