* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Klaus is presumably intended to be a TragicMonster, but his backstory is treated as merely an afterthought, and as such he comes off as being little more than a mindless brute. In addition, the flashback scenes are shot in such a way as to make it unintentionally appear that he suddenly decided to eat his wife and son for no real reason.

* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The aforementioned head in the bucket aside, the makeup and gore effects are among the most spectacular ever featured in a low-budget exploitation flick. The fetus-eating scene in particular was so convincing that the filmmakers had to repeatedly assure the authorities, including the BBFC, that none of it was real.
