** The original French voices such as Thierry Wermuth (Tintin), Christian Pelissier (Captain Haddock) and Henri Labussière (Calculus) are fondly remembered in the francophone world and instantly recognizable, to the point that fans who watched the series can't imagine anyone else voicing the characters.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The show is famous in Brazil, where it's considered part of the childhood of anyone who lived in the 90's, when its broadcaster, TV Cultura, lived a golden age (in contrast with today's decadence). They were thrilled that the original voice actors of the dub would be reprising their roles in the 2011 film.

** The same has happened to the Dutch dub. Notably, The Red Sea Sharks used entirely different voices, which caused a major break with the rest of the series.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: While the show was toned down compared to the original stories, it still managed to feature a fair amount of smoking, drunkenness, drugs, gun violence, and onscreen murders, some of which hadn't occurred on-screen in the books. In fact, the "Red Sea Sharks" episode was made ''even WORSE'' by replacing Subsaharan African muslims going on a pilgrimage to Megga with ''REFUGEES''.
** Even stranger for American viewers - as it aired on ''Nick Jr.''

''REFUGEES'' who Rastapopoulos is just outright killing instead of selling into slavery. Even stranger for American viewers - as it aired on ''Nick Jr.''

Added DiffLines:

* NarmCharm: In the English dub, the Canadian actors generally do a good job hiding their accents (Dan Hennessey and John Stocker put on London accents to play Thompson and Thomson while David Fox uses a slight Cornish accent playing Captain Haddock), with the exception of Colin O'Meara. Hearing Tintin speak with such a heavy Canadian accent (He even says "aboot") could be jarring the first time if you're not expecting it, but it's charming once you're used to it because O'Meara does such a good job embodying the character.

* MemeticMutation: Tintin is curiously subject to a lot of date-based memes:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB92wFfgBHo Remembering what day comes after the 15th]][[labelnote: Explanation]] Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock have been captured by Incans and sentenced to death. The Incans give them the kindness of choosing the date and time of their execution. Tintin, reading the newspaper, realises that there will be a solar eclipse on the 16th of the month, and uses his (apparent) control over the Sun to intimidate the Incans.[[/labelnote]]

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Some of the {{Bowdlerization}} was done for this purpose - ie in ''The Broken Ear'', Tintin's disguise as a ship employee consists of him wearing a fake mustache and a wig. In the books it was blackface. Which would ''not'' fly in TheNineties.
