** UnfortunateImplications: The roaches bear an uncomfortable resemblance to racist, exaggerated caricatures of people of African descent. And when one of biggest weapons against them is a blue-eyed, blonde-haired white man [[spoiler: who is the product of several generations of eugenics]] and the black Earthling characters are either [[FlatCharacter inconsequential]] or, in Victoria Wood's case, an [[OpportunisticBastard opportunistic traitor]], it paints a rather unseemly picture.

* UnfortunateImplications: As a good few people have pointed out, the roaches bear an uncomfortable resemblance to racist, exaggerated caricatures of people of African descent. ** The fact that the majority of the Chinese characters are opportunistic schemers has also raised more than a few eyebrows, especially given the racism towards Chinese people that's still prevalent in Japan today.
