* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The "HOOPLA!" joke from "Training Video" comes right out of nowhere and is never mentioned again.

The gag became a major fan-favorite, and as such became a popular subject for quotation and parody, often in reference to hyping up other works of media.[[/labelnote]]

** "Not when I shift into maximum overdrive!"[[labelnote:Explanation]]A statement Plankton says while riding a robot-controlled Krabby Patty, before bluntly discovering that "maximum overdrive" does absolutely nothing. The bit not only became common to quote for hyperbolic purposes, but it also achieved popularity as both a snowclone and a subject for edits.[[/labelnote]]

* ParanoiaFuel: "Wet Painters" practically runs off of this. Between Mr. Krabs' threat of debutting [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick should they get the paint on anything but the wall, to Patrick yelling at [=SpongeBob=] to be careful with opening the lid, to the drip falling from Patrick's bucket across the floor, to the first drip on the wall sliding all over the place, to the RaceAgainstTheClock of trying to get the paint off of Mr. Krabs' first dollar, the episode makes the viewers feel extremely anxious just as much as it makes them laugh.

* FridgeBrilliance: Why is it that [=SpongeBob=] is so afraid of a microscopic drop of paint on Mr. Krabs' first dollar that even Patrick can't see? "[[Recap/SpongeBobSquarePantsS3E13NewStudentStarfishClams Clams]]" shows that Mr. Krabs is able to tell the difference between dollars just by their ''feel'', which lets him see through [[SpotTheImposter SpongeBob and Squidward's ruse]], so it doesn't matter that the drop of paint is microscopic; Mr. Krabs would still be able to recognize that something is amiss with his first dollar.

* IdiotPlot: Justified in that [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick ''are'' more or less idiots but even they realized that it makes more sense to take all of the stuff off of Mr. Krabs' wall before painting and only decide not to because in Patrick's not too bright opinion it's too much work for a job they aren't even getting paid for. Mr. Krabs probably realized this when he put them up to the job and only didn't tell them because seeing them try and fail to do so was part of his prank.

* {{Woolseyism}}: In the Spanish dub, rather than POOP (People Order Our Patties), the acronym is CACA (Clientes Adoran Comer Aquí, translating to "Clients Love To Eat Here").
