* AccidentalAesop: Spongebob's motivational speech to rouse the other Bikini Bottomites into helping Squidward pretty much carries the message of "If someone you don't like asks for your help, you should pretend that they are someone you do like so you can be motivated to help them." Of course, this isn't exactly a bad Aesop per se, but the manner in which it is delivered somewhat cynically demonstrates that most of the other Bikini Bottom citizens didn't care enough about poor Squidward to actually help them out of the kindness of their own hearts until Spongebob called them out on it and made them pretend he was someone else.

YMMV can't be played with.

* DemographicallyInappropriateHumour: Squidward's comment about the music rental clerk not knowing, "an oboe from an elbow," is a play on the expression, "...doesn't know his ass from his elbow." Downplayed in that Squidward's pun makes just as much sense without knowing the original expression.

* FountainOfMemes: The "big meaty claws" moment is already subject to MemeticMutation (as seen below), but the whole scene is memetic in and out of itself in Latin America, with not one but four quotes from that scene being distinct memes.
-->"¡Grandes tenazas carnosas!" Big meaty claws!\\
"¡¿Qué dijiste, estúpido?!" What did you say, punk?!\\
"¡Estas tenazas no son solo para atraer pareja!" These claws ain't for just attracting mates!\\
"¡Acércate, viejo! ¡Acércate!" Bring it on, old man! Bring it on!

* JerkassWoobie: Squidward. The episode is kicked off by his successful rival Squilliam calling him on the phone to tell Squidward that he's living his dream of having a band play at the Bubble Bowl, just to rub it in his face. Squidward tries to save face by getting a band together, and his efforts to teach his band meeting with failure at every turn. The whole thing leaves the poor guy in tears as he gives up. Even worse is that Squilliam shows up at the Bubble Bowl so he can watch Squidward fail.
