* NarmCharm: The show is kind of cheesy, but it still works because of the awesome kaiju fights and this continuity's Spider-Man still being true to what the character is about.

I don't know; if my experience with the internet is any indication, people nowadays have a soft spot for this version of Spidey. Heck, even the Honest Trailers people straight up recommended watching at least a few episodes.

* AmericansHateTingle: While western viewers tend to frown on it now, it ''was'' fairly popular in its native Japan at the time. Subverted that there are American fans of the show though, mostly from being curious of the show's premise.

* DancingBear: Most people are aware of this series becuase spiderman now is a HenshinHero who has a GiantMecha.

* SoBadItsGood: Part of the show's appeal to fans is how hilariously hokey it can get at times.

* SoBadItsGood: Part of the show's appeal to fans is how hilariously hokey it can get at times. Also, unlike most adaptations of beloved properties, even the show's sharp deviations from the source material are widely considered part of its charm, precisely because of how ridiculous they tend to be.

Added DiffLines:

* VindicatedByHistory: In a way; while the show ''did'' quickly become a big hit in its native Japan, western viewers who even knew about its existence back in the day tended to regard it as a silly curiosity at best. However, the rise of the Internet has helped raise the show's profile tremendously in the West, especially after Marvel themselves began streaming the entire series on their website in 2009[[note]]Unfortunately, the episodes were later taken down, due to presumably the same licensing issues that had made it difficult for Toei to re-release the show back in Japan[[/note]], culminating in Takuya and Leopardon getting to appear in the actual comics alongside Marvel's main Spider-People (including Peter Parker himself).

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: While it does work almost note-for-note like a typical ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' series, ''Spider-Man'' contains some rather impressive violence for its time. There's blatant murder in the show (see CryingWolf on the main page), shots of civilians being killed on-screen are commonplace, and one particular scene (used in the ''official Website/YouTube trailer by MARVEL'', no less) where a cat gets sliced in half with a katana. While it is true that there is [[BloodlessCarnage very little or no blood in the show to speak of,]] the amount of violence in the show would be rather unsettling for modern child and pre-teen viewers. However, the way they show the cat (which was, to be fair, a murderous cat demon) being sliced in half is by freezing the frame on the cat and having the image split apart on screen. Also notable is the fact that about halfway through, the [[ReTool episodes get noticeably]] [[LighterAndSofter lighter]] and focus more on Spider-Man helping out kids and less on the somewhat unnerving brutality of the earlier episodes.

The link does not work and I haven't been able to find out what "detail" Professor Monster overlooked. Weblinks Are Not Examples.

* FridgeLogic: A good example appears in Episode 3, in which Professor Monster recruits a jewel thief as a Spider-Man impostor... [[http://imageshack.us/a/img194/7562/spidermangag.jpg but seems to forget one very small detail.]]

Old filming techniques =/= bad special effects

* SpecialEffectFailure: Many, many examples.
** How do they show Spider-Man clinging to walls, for instance? By having him jump at the wall and ''freeze the frame when he's touching it''.
** The second version of Leopardon's TransformationSequence actually has one segment played ''backwards'', showing the panels on what become its legs splaying out instead of folding in.
