* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Dan Slott created Silk during his Spider-Man run, but it would be hard to find a fan of the character that prefers his take on the character. Under Slott, Silk got a lot of flak for basically having all of Spidey's powers but better, and instantly becoming Spidey's new love interest thanks to said powers causing FantasticArousal. But as soon as she got her own solo series under writer Robbie Thompson and artist Stacey Lee, she became far more liked; they toned down her "superiority" to Peter (tweaking her power set to make her the FragileSpeedster of the Spiders), her Fantastic Arousal powers were retconned out (changing her dynamic with Peter from love interest to LikeBrotherAndSister), and her personality was completely overhauled from a smug and cocky woman with a serious case of NeverMyFault, to an adorkable Womanchild rookie with anxiety issues (making her something of Marvel's counterpart to DC's Jessica Cruz).
* SleeperHit: ComicBook/Silk launched right before Marvel were planning the above-mentioned All New revamp, starring a controversial Spider-Man character who was considered TheScrappy and a CreatorsPet at best. Despite a lukewarm amount of hype before release, the series ended up being surprisingly really good, succeeding in allowing Silk to be RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap and connecting to audiences thanks to the titular character's battle with anxiety. It became a modest seller (by no means one of their highest-selling books, but enough that it got to stay on as part of the All-New revamp, and maintained decent sales all throughout its run), and by the time it ended, was considered one of Marvel's best Spider-Man-related books being released at the time.

* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: When Comicbook/Silk first launched, MSNBC ran a report that cited the character as Marvel's first Asian-American superhero. Keith Chow corrected them by pointing out that characters like Kamala Khan predated Silk, and that DC's 2000}} Cassandra Cain was technically the first Asian-American superhero to have her own series. And if we expand the umbrella to cover Asian superheroes rather than specifically Asian-American ones, Marvel's Comicbook/ShangChi predates both Silk and Cassandra Cain by a great deal, having debuted in 1973 before receiving his own solo series the following year.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Dan Slott also introduced a scrappy of his own, ComicBook/Silk, during his Spider-Man run. Silk got a lot of flak for basically having all of Spidey's powers but better, and instantly becoming Spidey's new love interest thanks to said powers causing FantasticArousal. But as soon as she was moved to her own comic under writer Robbie Thompson and artist Stacey Lee, she became one of Marvel's most-liked superheroines. Largely they toned down her 'superiority' to Spider-Man (she's the fastest of the Spiders, but she's notably not as strong and her spider-sense is fickle, making her the FragileSpeedster of the bunch), and her Fantastic Arousal powers were completely retconned out, to the point she went from being Peter's love interest to being more LikeBrotherAndSister, and her personality was completely overhauled, turning her into an Adorkable rookie with huge anxiety issues, making her something of Marvel's counterpart to DC's Jessica Cruz.

* MyRealDaddy: The Spider-Man character ComicBook/Silk was created by Dan Slott and was very much hated by fans for numerous reasons: from the UnfortunateImplications that arise from her pheromone situation with Peter, to her effectively being the cause of several deaths in ComicBook/SpiderVerse, to her existence being a retcon of Peter's origin story. It was Robbie Thompson's solo run of the character that rescued her from the scrappy heap by reinventing her as being a bit of a Womanchild who works as TheMole for S.H.I.E.L.D.
