* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Conan the Cimmerian hanging with anitheroic wizards and warriors of the modern Marvel age. Too bad they didn't have him encounter other individuals connected to the Hyborian Age such as Selene and Elsa Bloodstone, who both could even be good fits for the first Savage Avengers team. Besides living through the Hyborian Age, Selene was also a personal enemy to Kulan Gath during those times and she's not beyond working with the X-Men or other hero teams when it suits her. With Elsa Bloodstone, besides being one of Marvel's pre-eminent monster hunters and a tad unscrupulous, her father was actually a Hyborian Age barbarian himself.

Not ymmv

* SleeperHit: When the series was announced, a lot of people dismissed it as an edgy cash grab because of its cast and the lack of any real reason for the team to exist beyond just being yet another edgy take on the Avengers, and randomly including Conan at that. It didn't help that ComicBook/Strikeforce was announced close to it, and had a more eclectic cast (and newer name). However, after it began, its humorous approach, fun stories, self-awareness and good characterisation resulted in it outlasting Strikeforce by a mile, and becoming generally regarded as one of the better ancillary Avengers titles of recent years. In fact, it's done well enough that a new series has been announced for 2022.

* WolverinePublicity: A lot of popular or fast-rising characters appear in this series, including Kang who's importance in the MCU is going up with his involvement in the Loki Disney+ series.

* CompleteMonster: Johan Richter, the Priest of Sickles, is Kulan Gath's most evil and zealous servant. A UsefulNotes/WorldWarII pilot whose capacity for evil was so great that Kulan Gath made Johan his servant on the spot, the Priest sacrifices countless people in Kulan Gath's name, filling up an enormous bowl of blood with which he uses to bring the monstrous Marrow God down on Earth in Kulan Gath's name. Kulan Gath's perfect servant, the Priest traffics in countless women; distributes a drug that leads to those who take it being possessed by Shuma-Gorath; murders his own minions; and finally helps to bring about the reign of Kulan Gath on the Earth, personally slaughtering hundreds of innocents with glee.

* UnexpectedCharacter: The Night Flyer is a D-list mercenary who's only had a few appearances and hasn't been around since 1981. This particular Night Flyer appears to be a LegacyCharacter (the current one is black with facial hair while the original is white and cleanshaven). With the exception of Daimon Hellstrom (though his stock is rising) and Doctor Voodoo, everyone else in the series is A list or B at worst.
