* WhatAnIdiot: The Cartel soldier with the machine gun who fires through a wall at the team but aims well above their heads giving them plenty of time to duck and running out of ammo before he can lower the weapon down enough to hit them.

* MagnificentBastard: [[NominalHero John "Breacher" Wharton]] is the leader of a DEA raid squad who desires revenge on cartel hitman Brujo for the murder of his family. To this end, Breacher masterminds a scheme to [[PayEvilUntoEvil raid a drug lord's safe house]], stealing $10 million of his money, only to find the stolen money gone. In truth, Breacher had taken the money for himself to be used to bribe the Mexican police for Brujo's location. With his crew getting murdered one by one for the stolen money, Breacher is able to track down the killers and take off with the money, escaping police custody in the process. With his plan ultimately paying off, Breacher finds himself mortally wounded after a bar shootout, using his last moments to drink and [[OneLastSmoke smoke his final cigar]].

* DesignatedHero: Breacher and his entire team consists of [[ClusterFBomb foul-mouthed]], crass, drunken '''''[[{{Jerkass}} assholes]]''''' who argue with each other and are abrasive to almost everyone they run into. ''Including'' a detective who is only trying to get their side of the story. Even when the team starts to die, their attitude remains the same, and some of them shrug their teammates' deaths off with ease. And to top that off, they ''start'' the movie off by stealing ten million dollars worth of drug money with little hesitation. [[DarknessInducedAudienceApathy And we're supposed to care that someone is killing Breacher's team...why, again?]]

* JerkassWoobie:
** Grinder. He's the only team member who [[spoiler:spilled his guts to Brentwood and tried to atone for his sins after realizing that Breacher's team had fallen. Just when he starts to become a [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold sympathetic character]], [[BoomHeadshot Bang! He gets his brains splattered all across the canvas]]]].
** Monster as well, especially after he finds out that [[spoiler:Lizzy is cheating on him with Sugar]]. He's the only team member who's actually scared and doesn't want to die.
** And then there's Breacher. While he is a DeadpanSnarker and a shameless asshole, the man did lose his wife and child and had their body parts sent to his home. And had to watch as they were brutally tortured and killed. No wonder he's so messed up.
