* TooBleakStoppedCaring: Among the criticisms the fic receives is that it is a constant struggle and misfortunate laden tale where the main cast are constantly thrown into new situations to make them miserable with little in the way of pay off to make the suffering worth it.

* [[SugarWiki/CrowningMomentOfAwesome Crowning Moments Of Awesome]]:
** [[HeroicSacrifice Elsa Maria holds her own against four Void Walkers long enough for Oktavia to escape the island with an unconscious Kyoko]].
** A villainous example, but Nie and Arzt proving that their adoration for Nikki is more than just a fad by defending her from Reibey. They fail, of course, but at least they tried.
** The snowball fight in ''Gift of the Puella Magi'' is MundaneMadeAwesome incarnate. Six immortal magic-users going up against each other using ammunition made of snow becomes absurdly over-the-top real quick, especially when Mami enters the fray with ''snowball-loaded muskets!'' Credit also goes to Charlotte for succesfully outsmarting Akane, Shizuku, ''and'' Mami despite having no magic of her own.
** The first glance of Cloudbreak, a floating city so awe-inspiring that Kyoko decides on the spot that she wants to move there.
** The ''entire chase sequence starting in chapter 14 and going into chapter 15''.
*** It ends up as an UnconventionalVehicleChase between Void Walkers and Mami and Charlotte. The Void Walkers are trying to get away on an Elysian airship after [[spoiler:kidnapping Kyoko and Oktavia]], Charlotte [[BadassDriver is the one steering the swifter to keep the airship in the line of fire]], and [[ImprobableAimingSkills Mami, sitting behind her wife on the same swifter, is shooting the airship engines with magically conjured]] SniperRifle.
*** At one point, Mami hangs from the Elysian while Charlotte's swifter is disabled and disappears into the cloud. Mami nearly falls to despair over having lost her wife, at which point Charlotte, in a desperate hail-mary attempt, blindly throws out her own [[spoiler:golden strings]]. ''And Mami catches them with her ribbons!'' It's as sappy as it is awesome!
*** Mami and Charlotte are climbing up the side of the Elysian to reach the hatch, at which point a ''whole ass trainwheel'' flies through the cockpit window and Nikki goes with it. After momentarily being confused, Charlotte can do nothing but grin when she realizes what that means.

** During the wild witch attack, Charlotte and Oktavia, without even having to say anything to each other, get ready to protect their unconscious loved ones with their magic that they've had for less than 48 hours, despite both being utterly exhausted.
** The unnamed member of the Wayhouse who [[spoiler:avoided being brainwashed by Lily first by cutting off her own ears, then by attacking her and securing a sample of her soul vapors for study]]. Even Nie and Arzt are impressed, and the sample became vital in developing a counter.
** The climax of the Etherdale arc:
*** Annabelle Lee is told that the wild witches of Etherdale seem drawn to the wayhouse, as if they can sense that the people there want to help them. At the climax, [[spoiler:this is proven true as the wild witches come to their rescue, swaming the leechers in the thousands]].
*** Mundy the Vaskergoros demonstrates exactly why no one wants to mess with her kind when she uses her magical girl weapon, a chain, to ''pull an airship close enough for her to jump on top of it, then rips out the engines with her bare hands''. Mami is a suitable mix of terrified and impressed. She proceeds to tear her way through the leechers with no one having a ''prayer'' of a chance to stop her.
*** When Nikki and another girl Annabelle Lee befriended are shot down by [[spoiler:Lily's gunship, she wastes no time abandoning her previous plan to escape in favour of ''tearing Lily from the sky'']].
*** [[spoiler:Lily's demise comes at the hand of Arzt Kochen and Hungry the wild witch. Hungry distracts her by savagely tearing into her and defying any attempt by Lily to get rid of her, while Arzt uses the opportunity to get close enough to inject Lily with some of the compound made to combat her influence, paralyzing her and putting her at the mercy of someone who has not a shred of sympathy for her]].
** During the ''Monsterland'' arc, Kyoko and Charlotte together manage to fight off an entire pack of valks for a long time, killing all but two of them before being cornered. Valks are extremely dangerous apex predators who are easily a match for a magical girl ''alone'', not to mention that Charlotte is deeply traumatized by an earlier encounter with them, making the feat all the more impressive.
** At the climax of ''Monsterland'', [[spoiler:Kyoko and Charlotte are cornered by a couple dockengauts. Just as they're thinking they'll never see their loved ones again, a ''legion'' of calliopes appear, protectively circling around them while a border guard helicopter threatens the dockengauts into leaving them alone]].
** In the Monsterland intermission, Mundy gets to show he rguts once again, this time by staring down a dockengaut without showing an ounce of fear (even though she's ''terrified''), and being ready to fight it and certainly suffer a horrible death if need be.

** Oktavia ranks Charlotte as having the best butt, followed by Mami and then Kyoko. Kyoko, while annoyed at being in third place, has to agree that Charlotte and Mami look good.

* {{Adorkable}}: Oktavia von Seckendorff. A girl who looks like Sayaka Miki and was effectively born yesterday, she is boundlessly excitable and curious about the world she finds herself in, and is always the first to express interest in new things, and finds wonder and amazement in everything. Her innosence and friendly nature has made her companions care about her deeply, and she in turn loves them and sees them as her family.

** Just how many of the timelines Homura reset, and thus turned the afterlife back, had Mami and the other find themselves in as happy of a place as Mami is with Charlotte? How many shades were content and peaceful until they suddenly lost it all?

* Mami apparently dreamed about meeting Kyoko again through FlorenceNightingaleEffect. While she denies that there were any romantic feelings in the matter, Kyoko does not seem to mind the idea of it.
* Through ItMakesSenseInContext, Mami ends up sitting in Oktavia's lap, leaving the mermaid's face pressed into her cleavage, much to Charlotte's annoyance.

* LesYay: Mami apparently dreamed about meeting Kyoko again through FlorenceNightingaleEffect. While she denies that there were any romantic feelings in the matter, Kyoko does not seem to mind the idea of it.

* RainbowLens: Many fans pick up on the similarities between the psychological and moral issues that arise from using a witch's old name and the concept of deadnaming, frequently drawing parallels in the comment sections of both Resonance Days and Walpurgis Nights.

* ValuesResonance: Chapter 26 has Annabelle Lee use statistics to support a toxic viewpoint on the afterlife at large in an attempt to give Mami a BreakingSpeech. The chapter was originally released in 2015, and when it was released for Archive readers in 2023 several were quick to note how in the eight years since the original version the writing choice gained new weight as this became a more prevalent hallmark of many hateful and damaging arguments since, including against trans individuals, creating an interesting and unplanned synchronicity with the trans parallels among the afterlife's witches.

* CompleteMonster: [[spoiler:[[ArcVillain Lily the Fairy]] is a witch with a [[CompellingVoice potent ability to brainwash anyone into becoming a perfectly loyal and obedient follower with nothing more than a week of casual conversation]]. Lily has used this ability to build a following over a thousand strong, and makes her living as a leecher, kidnapping the wild witches of Etherdale to drain them of soul vapors for drugs, let them heal, then drain them again in an eternal vicious cycle, making sure to keep them just hopeful enough to stay insane and not become {{Empty Shell}}s. She is opposed by the Wayhouse, a humanitarian organization, and she happily turns any of its agents into her unwilling servants, making them smile while committing the most inhuman, vile crimes imagineable, and intending on turning the wayhouse into a pile of burning rubble to stop them from helping the girls she uses as livestock. When the heroes arrive at her compound, Lily subtly brainwashes them same as she has done with everyone else, making Mami and Charlotte unknowing enforcers of her evil, and convincing Kyoko and Oktavia to go against everything they believe in and hand themselves over to the void walkers.]]
