** The scene in which [[spoiler: a Protestant radical whose son died because of religious violence rapes Mary as revenge]] stirred a lot of controversy. Some fans absolutely despised it, others thought the writers handled it well, and still others believed the aftermath, [[spoiler: Catherine helping Mary snap out of her HeroicBSOD]], was the only good part. Many people insist that there should have been [[spoiler: a trigger warning for it]], but many others disagree.

And ''really'' not helping was the show's creator stating that they did it to advance character development for ''Francis'' rather than Mary herself.

* IdiotPlot: In season 2, Francis insists on keeping Mary LockedOutOfTheLoop regarding how he killed his father and is now being blackmailed into passing decrees against Protestants, even after he learns that Mary herself had tried to do the same, meaning there's literally ''no'' advantage at all to keeping the secret.

** Given the contortions the story has to go through to keep Francis' historical persecution of Protestants while still keeping him sympathetic, some fans now wish the show would give up any pretense to historical accuracy, since it's not like it's ever made much of an effort in that area.

Taking out my own entry, which has stopped being applicable.

** The introduction of even more supernatural elements in season 2 has the fans pretty well split.

** Also a lot of fans, against expectations, find the older characters, especially Henri and Catherine, far more interesting than the younger ones.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Arguably, those interested in the history of France and Scotland's union or 1500's history, may be disappointed to know that the show is mostly TeenDrama, and romance, which will likely not appeal to history buffs.

I think it\'s a little soon to say it\'s explicit. Bash saw the little girl when he was exhausted and probably half-asleep. And while that nursemaid turning into Henry is freaking weird (sends chills down my spine, honestly), it could just be a symptom of Francis going mad as his father. The historical Francis had a very mundane death, I wouldn\'t be surprised if the show is trying to bring something more interesting into it.

* GeniusBonus: Nostradamus really did serve as Catherine de' Medici's astrologer, and she took his prophecies very seriously. Also, he started out as a physician (and a foresighted one at that, refusing to bleed patients and recommendin cremation for the corpses of plague victims), so he probably did know more than your average Jean about poisons and sedatives.
