"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: While all the books have this to some extent, ''Regarding the Bees'' takes the cake. All of Sam's problems would have been resolved if he’d just ''told his loved ones'' about his hearing loss (his fears of driving anyone away with the news are pretty unfounded given everyone's acceptance of the deaf Sugar Kube), Nader would have been found out years ago if [[spoiler:someone at the spelling bee had noticed the obvious hand signals she was using (even if they didn't know sign language, it would still look fishy)]], and that's without getting into the fact that she's able to successfully accuse someone of ''witchcraft'' in the 21st century.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Close to the climax of ''Trees'', both Angel and Angelo's family recipes get stolen, resulting in the town feud heating up further. Given how he's done little connected to the plot so far at this point, it would have been an interesting twist if it had turned out Justin Case had stolen the recipes in a [[WellIntentionedExtremist misguided attempt to end the town feud]] since it was messing with his "emergency phone tree" plans. Instead, we learn that [[spoiler:Angel and Angelo themselves]] were the culprits in a throwaway line, and Justin remains irrelevant to the plot outside of his ButtMonkey status.

* StrangledByTheRedString: While Sam and Goldie's wedding at the end of ''Regarding the Trees'' makes sense given how their relationship's been built up over the past few books, Angel and Angelo's -- after an entire book of doing nothing but feuding with each other -- doesn't. The author seemed to realize this, at least; in the next book, it's shown that their marriage is off to a seriously rocky start.
