* CriticalResearchFailure: Not Savage himself, but Slim Jim's. One of the Slim Jim's commercials showed him in high school in 1974. Savage made his professional debut in 1973, and would have been, at the most, ''22'' years old in 1974.

However, the intensity of said promos was a sight to behold and, even to this day, are some of the most memorable ever cut. Also, he let a (devenomised) cobra bite him on the arm as part of his feud with Jake Roberts.

* DracoInLeatherPants: Any time he was a heel after 1987, the worst he ever got was mixed reactions. He was still cheered as a heel in the nWo or his Team Madness gimmicks.

* OlderThanTheyThink: Wrestling/PamperoFirpo used a drawn-out [[BigYes "OOOOH YEAHHH!"]] as his CatchPhrase long before Savage started using it. Although their versions are slightly different,as Firpo emphasized the "OOOOH" more whereas Savage emphasized the "YEAHHH" more. Savage's brother Lanny Poffo got the idea from an old Pampero Firpo promo and suggested Randy use it.

** His matches in 1999 WCW weren't very good, as age and injuries started to take their inevitable toll.

* DomesticAbuse: Implied in WCW, his valet and RealLife girlfriend Gorgeous George would come to the ring wearing large sunglasses, which when removed would shown makeup designed to resemble a black eye.

* TheLancer: Although they were never part of a traditional FiveManBand, Savage fit the role of Lancer to Hulk Hogan's [[TheHero Hero]] pretty well

* MustHaveCaffeine: Supposedly the biggest consumer of coffee in the history of the sport. Before his match with The Wrestling/UltimateWarrior at Wrestlemania VII, they drank a combined ''five gallons'' of coffee.

* CrazyAwesome: During his feud with [[Wrestling/JakeRoberts Jake "The Snake" Roberts]], Savage actually let himself get bit by a (devenomized) snake.
** Which then turned into a bit of NightmareFuel as the snake would not let go of Savage's arm despite Jake trying to get the snake off of him.
** He reportedly joked that [[TooSpicyForYogSothoth the snake got poisoned from biting him.]]
** His promos were this. He might not have made much sense, but every promo he made had an intensity that few could match.

** The original GorgeousGeorge, Wrestling/GeorgeWagner first used "Pomp and Circumstance" as his entrance music and was actually the first to bring entrance music to wrestling (not the Freebirds, though they did bring rock music to wrestling). Savage actually used the song as a tribute to George, as he was Savage’s idol and also trained his father Angelo. Savage didn’t allow the song to be played at his funeral as he felt guilty that he overshadowed George’s popularity.

* MemeticMolester: There was a wrestling urban legend which claimed that Savage was released from the WWF in 1994 because he raped a then-17-year-old [[Wrestling/StephanieMcMahon Stephanie [=McMahon=]]]. This endured largely thanks to a video Savage put on his website in response to insults thrown at him by HHH.
