So, is the WTH supposed to be that they're B-list? That doesn't sound right. Or is it that they are in a kid/teen targeted sitcom instead of an adult targeted sitcom? That hardly seems like a stretch to me

This was actually acknowledged in universe by the show in Spring Fever and he realized how shallow he was being and realized he liked her regardless, a lot of fans' perceptions changed after that moment

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: After two seasons of Cookie rebuking Lisa's efforts to date him and displaying no interest in her, his sudden all-consuming desire to date Lisa after her aforementioned UnnecessaryMakeover only makes him look incredibly shallow. There were very few rooting for him to win over Lisa.

* CriticalResearchFailure: In "Reading", Ned tries to give an oral report on ''Literature/GreenEggsAndHam'' to cover for how he didn't actually read a book for English class. In it, he claims that Sam doesn't like the titular food. However, Sam likes the food, and the story's about him trying to convince the unnamed man to give it a try. This is possibly a deliberate case however due to Ned's dislike for reading.
