** Any character can temporarily take on the Woobie mantle for an episode to engage the audience's sympathy: examples include Twilight Sparkle in "Winter Wrap-Up", Rarity in "Suited for Success", and Rainbow Dash in "Sonic Rainboom." (Twilight in "Feeling Pinkie Keen" and Applejack in "Applebuck Season" don't count, because they're being punished for their own hubris.)

to:

* EnsembleDarkhorse: [[FanNickname "Derpy Hooves"]], a wall-eyed background character has attracted a huge number of fans despite having no part or relevance in the plot to date. Not bad considering her googly eyes were just a random joke thrown in by one of the animators.

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: Although in this case, it couldn't be helped. According to Lauren Faust herself, Hasbro had lost the rights to most of the 1980s pony names. As a result, new names had to be created. The only exceptions are Applejack and Spike (the latter of whom was never a pony at all).
* {{Squick}}: One pony at the party in "Call of the Cutie" drinking straight from the punch bowl instead of using the ladle provided.
