** Additionally, his story is one where he is nearly fated to live out, the only glimmers of hope being Radiant Hope and Princess Amore's suggestion he could be good instead of evil, making Sombra TheWoobie for the issue.

* {{Narm}}: In the Tirek comic, he says twice in the span of as-many pages that Scorpan is entirely loyal and would never betray him. It was possibly intended as funny, but comes off as forced and awkward.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The Siren comic. Instead of an interesting backstory we have: the characters engaged in a AmericanIdol contest (in Ancient Equestria!), the Dazzling as bland characters without the chemistria that distinguishes them in Rainbow Rocks and the their banishment unjustified.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: Arguably nothing in the comic is any darker than some Disney films like ''Film/BeautyAndTheBeast'' or ''Film/TheLittleMermaid'', but some of the imagery and tones of the comic are rather scary and frightening for younger readers.

* BrokenBase: The Tirek issue; some like how it shows his personal life, mentor, and family, while others feel it's too rushed and doesn't reveal much. Not helping is the prior issue's ToughActToFollow status.

** Related to the above, but consider that Sombra acts a lot more animalistic in the Season 3 premiere than he is portrayed here even after fully completes his FaceHeelTurn. Those 1,000 not only made him stronger but eroded his mind even further, turning him into a mere shadow of his former self.

* FridgeBrilliance: Seeing Sombras origins explains the traits of his good MirrorUniverse counterpart (living over 1000 years, [[MartyStu improbably attractive and laking in flaws]]. [[spoiler: Sombra was MadeOfEvil in a mortal guise, Mirror Sombra was the same, but MadeOfGood.]]
