* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Due to the character dynamics being driven by misunderstandings and idiosyncratic character traits, their personalities are open to a lot of interpretation within the fandom:

* IdiotPlot: A lot of the misunderstandings wouldn't go on for as long as they do if the characters would just ''talk to each other'' instead of constantly making assumptions. Of course, given that the said misunderstandings drive many of the jokes, they rarely do - and even when they do make attempts to talk things out, [[ComicallyMissingThePoint the point tends to go over each other's heads for some reason or another.]]

* EightPointEight: WebVideo/{{Arkada}} gave this one a "Skip It" rating. Many people were not amused, since the rating was based on the premise that it's a {{shoujo}} series.[[note]]Which was a bit misjudged, since it's techically a {{shonen}} ''about'' shoujo rather than a shoujo outright, but it would seem the presence of shoujo elements at all netted it the "Skip It".[[/note]]

* AlternativeJokeInterpretation: In one strip in Chapter 52 - the one where Nozaki, Chiyo, and Mikoshiba play a mystery game - the three of them all toss out final theories for who the culprit is immediately before the reveal that it's [[spoiler: the game's protagonist]]. None of them visibly react to this reveal at all, and all three casually claim it's obvious despite all three of them having accused someone else only one panel ago. Is the joke that all three of them are trying to look smart by acting cool and pretending to have gotten it right? Or are they so checked out due to the amount of confusion the game has put them through that they don't care anymore? ''Or'' have they spent so much time building up a completely made up image of [[spoiler: the protagonist]] to cover for their own mistakes that they barely even recognize the real character exists?

** Some fans noted Sakura's strange resemblance to Paras from ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' and [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/parakura_9140.png ran with it]]. Her [[IconicItem ribbons and their white-on-red polkadot pattern]] have also achieved memetic status as well. She's also been associated with ''VideoGame/KanColle'''s rendition of Prinz Eugen (see: Characters.KanColleSix) due to Creator/AriOzawa voicing them both, as well as some similarities in appearance. The extra chapter 84.5 [[FandomNod nods]] at this since a flashback of a middle-school Chiyo shows her with a hairstyle exactly like Prinz Eugen.

** Blue Ribbon Chiyo. In a certain imageboard, fans made up a {{creepypasta}} story featuring Sakura with blue ribbons instead of red. Blue Ribbon Chiyo is depicted as a {{yandere}} HumanoidAbomination that isn't afraid to kill the entire cast just to get Nozaki, and can even possess normal Chiyo. The story got so memetic that every conversation about the series will inevitably have someone bring up this topic.

** Mikoshiba aka Mikorin... Both Nozaki and Chiyo think that he's absolutely adorable.

* MisaimedFandom: {{Main/In Universe}} example from Nozaki, who is annoyed that Seo is chickening out when talking to Wakamatsu and potentially deepening their relationship, so she starts singing to put him asleep. He decides to similarly characterize the character he based on her (Oze) as a coward who is just as humorously evasive around his LoveInterest, which he also did in response to people finding the Oze character cool. To his ambivalence, Miyamae told him that they've come in first in the results on a survey...with lots of people praising Oze as being very cute.
