* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: Dan Slott's take on ''Iron Man'' and Mark Waid's take on ''Dr. Strange'' hasn't been well-received. For Slott's ''Iron Man'', there are fans who are utterly wary of Slott's description of "''WesternAnimation/RickAndMorty'' meets ''Series/BlackMirror''" -- some are assuming that this means we're looking at fantastical sci-fi things the same way we saw Slott's take on ''Silver Surfer'', others have taken this literally and are assuming we're looking at the advent of Pickle Tony Stark. For Waid's ''Dr. Strange'', he's coming off of the popular run by Donny Cates, thus he has a ToughActToFollow. This is also because many fans feel like Waid's been off his A-Game since ''ComicBook/{{Avengers 2016}}'' and ''ComicBook/{{Champions 2016}}''.[[note]] Although his ''Home of the Brave/Out of Time'' ''ComicBook/CaptainAmerica'' work was extremely well received.[[/note]]

** The mere fact that a relaunch is happening so soon after ''Legacy'', which Marvel heavily promoted as the big boost in promotion. Many are angry that Marvel is relaunching ''again'' after a number of attempts all contributed to Marvel's downwards tumble in sales. Additionally, despite being promoted as a "Fresh Start", many of the books still seem to run on the heavy amount of ContinuityLockOut, meaning if they will actually bring in new customers is questionable at best.
** The new numbering system which lists both a new numbers and the Legacy numbers. An attempt to cease confusion over numbering which many agree makes things even complicated.

* BrokenBase: Funnily enough, the rift appears to be between fans, most of whom appear to be happy to see the classic characters return, and retailers, who are sick of the renumbering and fear the constant relaunching will keep people away, as it's been the case with Marvel's previous initiatives.
** If there's a point of contention among the fans, however, they're due to the creative teams chosen for some of the books, in particular Ta-Nehisi Coates on Captain America and Nick Spencer on Amazing Spider-Man.
*** When it comes to Coates, some fans point out they don't want a very political book in Captain America while others point out that Captain America is meant to be political and thus Coates is a good match due to his political activism.
*** As for Spencer, the divide seems to be between those that liked his Superior Foes and Ant-Man runs and those that still resent Spencer for the whole [[ComicBook/CaptainAmericaSteveRogers Captain America]] / ComicBook/SecretEmpire fiasco from the last two years and have sworn him off, though even those fans do admit that Superior Foes and Ant-Man were really good comic books.
