"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait. Renamed one trope.

* IdiotPlot: Most of the conflict revolves around a misunderstanding: [[spoiler:Sagawa had no intention of harming Juri's family. All that he wanted was the Stone in order to become [[TheWatcher an immortal observer of the flow of time]] (and it's not like the Heralds would let any harm come to them anyways). If they had just given the Stone to him like he first wanted, he would have let them leave. However, his crazy cult members and hired thugs repeatedly disobeyed his orders and caused the family to believe he wanted them dead. Even after he's finally [[YouHaveFailedMe gotten rid of his subordinates for their incompetence]], gotten his hands on both Stones, and has no reason to go after the family anymore, they hunt him down based on Shoko's (false) presumption that he'd attempt to kill them once he obtained godhood. [[SelfFulfillingProphecy Which results in him trying to defend himself from their attacks and making it appear like he does want them dead]], and they don't end up finding out the truth until it's a little bit too late for that. [[SubvertedTrope And then Juri tries to kill him anyways]]]].
* LesYay: Shoko wants Juri to [[spoiler:retrieve her family's corpses]], but that isn't revealed for several episodes. So her demand that Juri be caught alive, the ending theme's focus on the two of them together (set to lyrics about falling in love, no less!), and their ForgottenFirstMeeting all seem pretty romantic.

* SignatureScene: While the anime itself got a mixed reception, the opening credits, set to Miyavi's "Flashback," have been praised by some as the best thing about the show.

** Being pursued by henchmen of the Genuine Love Society may also be quite disturbing as most of them are hired thugs that show a serious case of LackOfEmpathy.

* AssPull: An almost literal example of DeusExMachina: [[spoiler:Juri has sent everyone home, at the cost of being forced to spend the rest of her life trapped in Stasis. As she nearly goes insane and becomes a Herald on account of the realization that she's the only person in this dimension with no way to leave it, the "God" of Stasis shows up out of nowhere and sends her home]].
* DesignatedHero: Juri cares a lot about her family, but often this manifests as a remarkable LackOfEmpathy for anyone outside of it, including refusing to even accept good things former bad guys do for her because they opposed her family in the past, [[spoiler:not acknowledging her part in Shoko's past and problems]], and [[spoiler:hunting down Sagawa even after he has no reason to oppose them anymore, attempting to flat-out ''kill'' him when he's no longer and trying to talk it out with them, and then actually doing it (if not for him reincarnating)]].

* StrawmanHasAPoint: Takafumi is generally made out to be [[TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong a bumbling, whiny idiot who should butt out of serious matters]] whenever he speaks up. That said, he brings up some very valid points. His father not telling the family about the secrets of the Stones ended up putting them in danger, and their plan to fight a {{Cult}} with more members than them, who are very willing to kill them, to get Tsubasa and Makoto back is beyond reckless.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Some feel this way towards Tsubasa. He's an irresponsible shut-in who was set up to not only be an important character, but get some good CharacterDevelopment too. However, [[spoiler:he's expelled out of Stasis earlier on.]]

Sagawa is not a scrappy, he's actually a appealing anti-villain.
