* CreepyAwesome: Alvis's sect, the "Scarbacks," are into self-mutilation as part of their rituals. Alvis himself is intense even by their standards: he creeps ''everyone'' out, from Pree down to local security. D'avin even lampshades it.

** Alvis is quite popular among fans.

Also, Pree. He is may be comic relief, while giving but he also gives good advice.
%%** Doctor Pawter.
%%* FanPreferredCouple: Doctor Pawter
** Pawter, even more so after she [[TookALevelInBadass takes a level in badass]] following the bombing of Old Town.
* FanPreferredCouple:
** Some prefer Pawter/D'avin over Pawter/Johnny, and/or Dutch/Alvis to Dutch/D'avin.
** There are some who choose to interpret Johnny
and D'Avin.Dutch's relationship as romantic rather than PlatonicLifePartners. [[spoiler:The delusion the Lady puts the Quad under in season 5, where they are a married couple, certainly helps.]]
** Dutch/Delle Seyah is also a popular pairing, largely because of the LesYay described below.
* FanonDiscontinuity:
** Some fans of the series disregard [[StuffedInTheFridge Pawter's death]] in "Johnny Be Good," to the point where a number of them decided not to continue watching the series after it.
** In a similar vein, Alvis' death in "Reckoning Ball" is often also ignored, particularly by those who ship him with Dutch and/or Johnny.
** A small portion of the fanbase chooses to ignore anything after the first two seasons due to the GenreShift.

* LesYay: Seyah Kendry is really, ''really'' interested in Dutch, so much so that Dutch half-jokingly calls it stalking. In episode 7, she even tells Dutch that she loves rescuing damsels in distress. Not to mention the way she looks at her. This is further played up in the season finale, where at one point she asks Dutch to help lace up [[OfCorsetsSexy her corset]]. Even John is smirking at the obvious tension. And then there's this:

** If it wasn't clear before the season 2 episode ''Schooled'' confirms it with their climatic moment: a interesting twist on the KissOfLife trope involving biometrics, followed by an interaction that can only be described as "dialog with heavy flirty undertones".

* MoralEventHorizon: Seyah Kendry deals with the truth about the Wall being revealed by Pawter by attempting to make a deal with Old Town for their independence. However, when signing the treaty, she instead stabs Pawter and orders the Scarbacks with her to kill everyone else in the room. The leader for Old Town also dies thanks to her actions. Meanwhile, she is spearheading a plan to turn people in the Quad into Sixes.
* RomanticPlotTumor: Dutch and D'avin. Every time the series decides to explore the WillTheyOrWontThey tension between them, the episode grinds to a halt.
