* BrokenBase: The relatively chaste nature of the main couple's relationship. Detractors complain that this is unromantic at best and at worst, is indicative of archaic trends in manga that show unnaturally "pure" same-sex relationships between women. Fans, however, argue that the emotional aspect of Kurumi and Ruriko's relationship matters more than the physical one, and their increasing closeness over the course of the series is more meaningful than simple gestures of affection.

*RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: Rio started off as a BaseBreakingCharacter, in part because of her role in the story, since her detractors were afraid that she would drive a wedge between Kurumi and Ruriko by serving as a romantic rival for the latter. The debate on this front was settled relatively quickly when Rio was soon revealed as more of a "daughter" to Ruriko and Kurumi.
