** Stolitz, the pairing of Blitzo and Stolas. While some had lauded their relationship for being flawed and complicated (especially considering it was a homosexual relationship, which isn't common in animated shows), those who disliked it had a laundry list of why the pairing was terrible: from the power imbalance, the way Stolas treated Blitzo and other imps, and the full moon deal (which was an entire beast on it's own). This sentiment only grew with season 2, as detractors took umbrage with how much the writers were pushing the relationship (some arguing that it had taken over the focus of the show) and how it seems to ignore all the issues that were shown in season 1, especially regarding Stolas.

Added a Broken Base entry on Stolitz, cause it is a major point of contention in the series. I apologize if it does not fit, but I had seen many people argue for or againsst it, and with Full Moon coming out soon, I feel it's only going to get worse.

* BrokenBase: Does the show not focus enough on the assassinations I.M.P. carries out? Some people say that I.M.P come off as a borderline case of ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything, and that since it's the premise of the series, there should be more episodes dedicated to the company pulling hits in the mortal realm. Others argue that doing so would run the risk of making the show [[StrictlyFormula overly formulaic]], while the more scattershot approach to episode subject matter lends itself well to {{worldbuilding}} and CharacterDevelopment. Furthermore, episodes that focus on I.M.P.'s assassinations such as "C.H.E.R.U.B." and "Unhappy Campers" tend to be among the show's most polarizing.

* AngstDissonance: Loona tends to be [[BaseBreakingCharacter rather divisive]] as a result of this. On paper, she has plenty of reasons for her angst to be justified. Being part of the race considered the ''lowest'' class in all of Hell, stuck in an {{orphanage|OfFear}} more akin to a kennel till she nearly aged out resulting in her being very emotionally closed off, gaining an adoptive father figure who she both loves but is also annoyed with him being so clingy, and having no real friends while her coworkers she's in an antagonistic relationship with while treating her as ''just'' a Hellhound. The problem comes from the fact very little of it is shown from ''her'' perspective, but instead everyone ''else's'' perspectives. Blitzo is shown to be extremely loving towards her, making her treatment of him come across as ungrateful, particularly in "Seeing Stars" where she kicked him in the groin unprovoked right after she had just convinced Octavia to give Stolas a chance to do right by her. Her relationship with Moxxie is depicted as being solely antagonistic on her end, such as mocking him for allegedly being fat, which is what in turn earns her Millie's ire. Her backstory wasn't revealed until the second episode of Season ''2'', and not even from ''her'' but rather from Blitzo's end to justify his overprotectiveness, and the idea of Hellhound's being treated worse than Imps is something not really focused on compared to the social stigma Imps get. This, combined with her being the [[OutOfFocus least focused on main character]], just results in her detractors seeing Loona as a {{wangst}}y [[UngratefulBastard ungrateful bitch]].

** The introduction of the Helluva Shorts. Some feel that they are completely pointless and the team should strictly make new episodes. Others gladly welcomed the shorts, feeling they are a great way to bridge the gap in-between new full length episodes and it would be nice to see what the characters get up to outside of the central plot.

*** Loona. Despite being as prominent as the rest of I.M.P in the pilot and taking up a good portion of the series poster, only three episodes ("Spring Broken", "Truth Seekers", and "Queen Bee") gave her extensive focus, while most of the time she contributed almost nothing to the overall story; and even then, two of the episodes still focus more on other characters (Blitzo's rivalry with Verosika and Blitzo and Moxxie's capture, respectively). Made even worse is as of "MAMMON'S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MIDSEASON SPECIAL (ft. Fizzarolli)", Loona has only had a single focus episode that season, and is otherwise OutOfFocus, [[TheVoiceless not even speaking]].

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Striker. On first appearance he was a competent hitman hired by Stella to assassinate Stolas as revenge for his cheating. It was revealed that Striker didn't much care about Stella, he just wanted to kill Stolas due to him being a royal, since royals/Overlords treat imps as an underclass. While initially portrayed as antagonistic due to being willing to hurt Millie and Moxxie while on the job, Striker later undergoes VillainDecay, becoming less of a credible threat with each appearance, with Blitzo even going as far as referring to him as a supremacist. While Striker showed unmistakeable internalized bigotry against imps in his first appearance (calling Moxxie weak, etc.) he [[StrawmanHasAPoint basically had a point about royals and Overlords in Hell]]. Nearly every time we see imps outside of I.M.P they are servants or waitstaff and they are frequently treated as the lowest on the totem pole of Hell with one demon calling Blitzo what was implied to be [[FantasticRacism a slur]]. Striker's assessment of Blitzo's relationship with Stolas is also dead-on: he is [[SexForServices forced to sleep with Stolas in order to keep his business going]], Stolas has treated him like a plaything and when kidnapped by Striker in a later episode, Stolas immediately mocks Striker for being poor and makes sexual comments about Blitzo, effectively proving Striker's point about him and his attitudes towards imps. Striker's [[WeCanRuleTogether recruitment speech to Blitzo on his initial appearance]] was effective because of how much truth there was in it.

*** "OZZIE'S" also ends with Blitzo calling Stolas out for using him as a sex toy constantly. This was presented as a major falling out and led to Stolas having a MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment.
