* MostAnnoyingSound: The stupidly loud high-pitched scream skeletons make when dying. It doesn't help that this is the first sound you hear every time you run the first game.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: The Blade of Del Duio in the first game allows the player to sprint around the screen and makes the game significantly more enjoyable, but in the second game it only has this trait [[SetBonus if combined with]] the Duds of Del Duio. What's more, the plan was for the player to be able to only be able to choose one of the two after beating the game and so then [[BraggingRightsReward you'd have to beat it twice to get the bonus]].

* GoodBadBugs: The Blade of Del Duio in the first game is supposed to lower Rovert's defense, but the game only runs this check when a room first loads.

** In the sequel, the map screen is a playable shooter of sorts with enemies and obstacles flying around. Asteroids tend to appear from nowhere, sometimes right on top of your ship, which requires money to be repaired.

* SoOkayItsAverage: The first game has a lot of heart but is rather amateurish and features various examples of [[FakeDifficulty unreasonably difficult]] mechanics.

* ScrappyMechanic:
** Save points don't heal and healing items are automatically used when you collect them (and you will collect them on sight since they're required for 100% completion). The sequel is only slighty less harsh about this.
** Certain mandatory items are sold for big amounts of cash, but the game isn't very friendly with money grinding and you'll likely spend a lot of it on healing items from time to time. In the sequel, you pretty much have to know where the hidden treasure rooms are to buy the most expensive upgrades without much hassle.
