** The sequel actually devotes a scene to people quibbling over the rules. What ''would'' happen if a Gremlin was eating on an airplane that changed time zones?

* UglyCute: the female gremlin in wedding dress.

* TheProblemWithLicensedGames: The Atari video game based on the first film is rather badly done.Likewise,the Game Boy adaptation of the second fil wasn't well received.

* {{Narm}}: Kate's story about [[spoiler:how her father died in the chimney as he tried to climb down it while dressed as Santa Claus]] may have been intended to be creepy and/or sad, but the simple absurdity of the situation can also make it a little hard to take seriously. (And the creators apparently recognize this and [[SelfParody makes fun]] of it in the second movie where this time Kate starts narrating why she hates Lincoln's Day and she gets interrupted by Billy who tells her they don't have the time for it.)

*** When the conversation between Dr Catheter and Billy begins to skip, slow and distort, then revealing Gremlins [[CelebrityParadox in a theatre showing the film]] playing ShadowPuppets. A woman comes out to complain to the theatre manager, then the projectionist, looking bruised and bloodied, comes down, stating he is not performing that task without heavy compensation.Then, the theatre manager goes into the theatre and speaks to a patron, who turns out to be Hulk Hogan, and manages to get the movie running again by threatening to beat up the pesky Gremlins.

** Poor Gizmo grieving the death of Mr.Wing.Gee,everything [[BreakTheCutie Gizmo is sad]] in both films will make you feel like this.

* {{Squick}} / UnfortunateImplications: Forster's smile at his "bride" at the end of the second film.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids - This movie, along with ''Film/IndianaJonesAndTheTempleOfDoom'' led to the creation of the PG-13 rating.

* CompleteMonster: Stripe/Mohawk. Unlike the rest of the Gremlins who are more tricksters than villains, he is more sadistic and fiendish. Even as a mogwai he is extremely mischievous and sinister, at one point trying to bite the index finger of Billy Peltzer's friend Pete Fountaine.

* HilariousInHindsight: John Glover plays Daniel Clamp, an honest, likeable Millionaire who subverts many of the stereotypes about corporate executives. Ten years later, he played [[{{Smallville}}} Lionel Luthor~~ who may just be the trope codifier for the CorruptCorporateExecutive.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: One particular Mogwai, stated as Earl in official media, is hinted in the film and novel as being one of the few Mogwai blessed with a more docile personality similar to Gizmo, [[spoiler: that is until he is taken to the university to be experimented on and then happening on that sandwich, destining him as another psychotic Gremlin and to the same ill fate as all his other bretheren.]]

* ArtisticLicenseBiology: The twin scientists in the sequel guess that Gizmo is some kind of rodent, yet he lacks the buck teeth that all rodents share; if anything, he looks like a prosimian primate.

** Mrs Deagle as well. She takes a gleeful delight in threatening to kill dogs, abusing carol singers and, in her most heinous act, takes sadistic pleasure in evicting poor, starving families from Their homes on Christmas. She is the only other person the Gremlins directly kill (apart from perhaps Billy's teacher) and, by jove, did she have it coming to her.
