This overlaps with UnderminedByReality, as the actual John Gotti basically escaped his charges less through covering his tracks or being beloved by the community, and more through threatening and bribing witnesses a lot.

* HarsherInHindsight: The end of the film has John Gotti dying after a two-year battle with throat cancer. Kelly Preston, who was married to Creator/JohnTravolta, was diagnosed with breast cancer around the film was released, and died two years later, with this being the last of her screen roles to be released during her lifetime (her actual last screen appearance was in ''Off the Rails'', which was still sat on TheShelfOfMovieLanguishment at the time of her death).
