* ArchivePanic: There's quite a lot to catch up on at this point. Luckily, [[http://www.antarcticpresslibrary.com/ Fred Perry has posted the first 199 issued of the comic for free online.]]

* IdiotPlot: Tirant's plan in the Arms Master Tournament only worked because no one involved in the tournament asked themselves why Julia, a barbarian princess and wealthy wife of an Archmage, would want to give up her prestigious title and her reputation for a small bag of gold. Also, G'nolga was able to turn the masses against Julia and was allowed to become the new Arms Master, despite the fact that if Julia really had been bribed to take a dive in their fight then G'nolga would also have to be in on it since she was the one who went out of her way to challenge Julia in the first place.
* LesYay: Plenty between Crush and Xane. Mostly on Crush's part. For Crush, it seems to be a matter of IfItsYouItsOkay for Xane. That said, Crush does it ''on purpose'' because she likes flustering Xane.

* BestKnownForTheFanservice: No matter how detailed the story gets or how big the cast gets, ''Gold Digger'' will always be best known as one of, if not ''the'' most {{Fanservice}} filled comic (both normal and furry) on the market since 1992. The author created Rule34 and annual swimsuit specials do not help. However, unlike a lot of examples of this trope, the fanservice compliments the already excellent story rather than carrying it.

* CrossoverShip: Brittany is often paired with [[Manga/RanmaOneHalf Ranma]] despite the fact she's a [[CatGirl werecheetah]], meaning [[WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes he could never face her wereform without snapping]]. Then again, several of them not only acknowledge this fact, but proceed to use it as part of the process to remedy his phobia of felines.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: A few

* LesYay: Plenty between Crush and Xane. Mostly on Crush's part.
** For Crush, it seems to be a matter of IfItsYouItsOkay for Xane. That said, Crush does it ''on purpose'' because she likes flustering Xane.

* {{Rule34}}: ...with some of it drawn by Fred ''himself''.

* StrangledByTheRedString: Brianna and Zan's relationship. They go on a few dates and Brianna finds out she's pregnant and she's totally fine with it, and she tells Zan and he's totally fine with it, and suddenly they are totally in love and engaged in a blatant example of BabiesMakeEverythingBetter. It really sticks out when compared to every other relationship in the series, some of which developed organically over several years.
** They do get more chemistry built in their dynamic in later issues, but the order of events do stand out.

* ShoutOut: At this point there's so many it's starting to seem as if Fred's trying to see how much he can get away with before someone hits him with a C&D.
* TheScrappy: Averted with Tiffany. She may be a ChildProdigy but she also often makes mistakes and typically doesn't accompany Gina and Britanny on their adventures.

* PopularWithFurries: Given that a good chunk of the cast consists of ([[AmazonianBeauty Well]]-[[Hunk Toned]]) Beast folk. Is it any surprise that many fans of the comic are furries?

* CultClassic: While it isn't necessarily on the levels of notoriety as the heavy hitters on the market. The Comic has sported an admirable 30+ Year history with collections worth of spin-offs and reprints, and it has consitentley remained one of it's [[Creator/AntarcticPress publisher's]] Best selling comics. (If not the best selling.)

** Brianna, Ayane, and Sheila (and to an extent Her brother, Gar and the rest of The Edge Guard.) As evident by the fact they got [[AscendedExtra expanded roles]] in the main comic and various spin offs.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Is Agent M InnocentlyInsensitive or a BitchInSheepsClothing. He’s [[CreateYourOwnVillain created two different villains]]. During the funeral of Tirant’s parents instead of comforting him M told him to [[TakeUpMySword Take Up Their Sword]]. He later left Array to be tortured due to [[LawfulStupid Lawful Stupidity]].

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Good lord, Issue 259. It doesn't so much get crap past the radar as it detonates the radar and runs away laughing. Gina and Nez are transported into the bodies of expies of Megatron and Optimus respectively, and first find themselves 'uplinked' in vehicle mode, with Nez's 'plug' in Gina's port. Judging by their reaction, Fred just showed two cars having sex.
** It gets better. Nez never puts away his 'plug' in robot mode, and the 'Seekers' are visibly in awe of said plug. Nez is walking around with his dick out through most of the issue.

* MagnificentBastard: Dreadwing, Gothwrain

** They do get more chemistry built in their dynamic in later issues, but the order of events do stand out.
* JustForFun/SurprisinglySimilarCharacters: Gina Diggers and [[WebComic/GirlGenius Agatha Heterodyne]], although ''Gold Digger'' was first released nearly a decade before ''Girl Genius''.

* ArcFatigue: The first one hundred issues of the color series were fairly serialized. The story lines were typically five to ten issues long and were often woven together as part of a larger narrative. However, after the time skip, Fred Perry decided to go for a LighterAndSofter feel for the comic. Story lines became two to three issues long and they often don't add much to the ongoing narrative. And while big reveals and large story lines still happen, it can take months or even years for the larger plot to make significant progression.

* CreatorsPet: A minor case with Gina, as she is presented with many flaws and problems. However, she still has a personal army of nearly invincible robots, as well as countless other seemingly unstoppable weapons and inventions. All her friends and family are expert fighters and powerful mages. All her enemies are either dead, indisposed, are now her allies, or are comically disadvantaged against her. As such, it's hard to for the comic to have tension when it seems almost nothing can threaten her.

* TearJerker: As many awesome moments as there are, there are also just as many heartbreaking moments.
** In its own way, the downfall of Dr. Peachbody. Once a dangerous villain, he's forced to fuse with first his pet boy Benji, thrust into the ancient past, and then fused with [[CompleteMonster Dreadwing]], who promptly takes full control of the fused body. By the time Peachbody had encountered Dreadwing, Benji's personality has seemingly died, leaving only a lonely, mad Dr. Peachbody who doesn't seem to realize that Benji is gone. The shredded remnants of Peachbody's soul are eventually forced out of his body, left adrift on the astral plane. By the time Gina encounters him again to [[DeaderThanDead finish him off]], it's more of a MercyKill...
** Ayane's entire life. She's a warm, friendly, loving individual who adores cute things and desperately wants to be a FriendToAllChildren. However her eyes are so scary and evil that even many of her closest friends can't look her in the eye without being frightened, to say nothing of how children react to them. She's managed to form friendships over the years, and there are some characters (like Brittany) who can look her in the eyes without ill effect, but she also has no memory of her family. In addition, she did have a brief moment of happiness, love, and respect when the Prince of a kingdom of evil [[CharlieAndTheChocolateFactory Oompa Loompa]] expies kidnapped her and made her his queen. When her general friendliness started to actually reform the Prince and his people, the Prince's [[EvilChancellor witch]] sent Ayane back and mindwiped everyone, Ayane included.
** Former dragon queen T'Mat. Brutally raped and tortured by Dreadwing, she's clearly a PTSD-ridden mess who's desire for revenge against Dreadwing causes her to take actions that nearly have tragic results. Her daughter is forced to dethrone her (non-violently) and take over, doing what she can to care for her mother.
** Calandra the werelioness. She hunted Ash deer for the high bounty on them, only to get slapped with a huge fine when she was caught. She found out she got off VERY LIGHTLY, as Ash deer are actually Ashlander infants who were [[BalefulPolymorph changed]] to counteract their power incontinence. Calandra is so [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone horrified]] by what she did that she throws up, and nearly takes a swan dive over the DespairEventHorizon.

* HeartwarmingMoments: This series has lots of action in it. But for every awesome moment, there's also a WAFFy moment as well.
** The ecstatic, overjoyed reaction of Brianna's wildman boyfriend when she announces that she's pregnant.
** Everyone's reaction when Brittany finally comes home after her year-long exile to another dimension.
** Gina and Ebenezer Sleake's 'nerd-flirting.'
** After saving her daughter's life from two deadly Pawns and getting hospitalized in the process, Brittany declared Ayane to be her BFFL (best friend for life). Tiffany is also seen at Ayane's bedside in a flashback, showing her supporting Ayane despite her fear of Ayane's eyes...

* NightmareFuel: For a WorldOfBadass filled with badassery, magic, comedy, and more cheesecake and beefcake than you'll find at a Golden Corral, there's a lot of scary stuff going on.
** [[CompleteMonster Dreadwing]], for example. He's a rapist, a murderer, happily exploits everyone around him, and has committed so many atrocities overall that the entirety of Jade hates him, along with a sizeable-chunk of Earth-based heroes.
** The [[EldritchAbomination UMBRA]]. It wants to basically EAT reality. It creates alternate worlds by siphoning off the main one to weaken it, EATS these realities and, sparing only a few from the realities it consumes, lying to them and saying it can save their worlds if they help him devour the main one.
** One-shot villain Snuggy. She's an amazon breeder (and as such extremely sexy), a powerful mage, an easily tricked nincompoop, and extremely silly, but she's also more dangerous than you might think. Not wanting to go through nine months of being pregnant, she discovered a spell that allows her to give birth instantly once impregnated. This spell does this by sacrificing nine months of the father's lifespan. There's a glitch in this spell, however, that sometimes results in nine centuries being taken instead, instantly reducing her lovers to bone dust. Since being exiled, she's taken up kidnapping, turning local fauna (including an [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Abyssalisk]] and a [[KillerRabbit Wabbit]], two of the most dangerous animals on Jade) into handsome, anthropomorphic young men which she then brainwashes to provide her with an endless array of children. And she has a literal army of children, all of whom have inherited her natural talent for magic. Her stupidity and lack of ambition are the only things keeping her from being a deadly threat to every handsome dude in the realm.
** Someone has been designing hyper-elaborate deathtraps disguised as ancient ruins that make anything Jigsaw has ever come up with look like the old Mousetrap board game. And said designer is escalating, turning entire pocket dimensions into death traps. (One realm was essentially a giant shopping mall where high end fashion items were available at dollar store prices. Everything that shopaholic Brittany bought started turning into bombs.) It's later implied that the designer is making these traps specifically to kill the Diggers sisters...
** While investigating old ruins, to discover where lost superpowerful evils had disappeared to, Gina and two rivals are trapped in a LotusEaterMachine by the pacifistic entity guarding the temple, where they experience nothing but success over and over again, all their dreams coming true... with no effort whatsoever. Gina escapes, thankfully. She then encounters two of the missing warlords, one of them a [[VideoGame/StarCraft Kerrigan expy]], the two of them having given up on escaping the temple, having grown bored with the constant success the guardian offered them. While watching TV, the two casually talk about their horrific atrocities, mistaking Gina to be an evil warlord as well, one of them forming a television out of the souls he's devoured. They accidentally tune into Gina's memories of how she escaped the guardian's Eternal Success fantasies, and come to the conclusion that the journey is what matters for them as well, each gaining a horrific SlasherSmile. Both try to escape with Gina, who manages to ditch them. But there's still Gina's two other rivals for them to use. Two of the deadliest, most powerful warlords in history, are motivated to do things again...
** FRICKEN ABYSSALISKS. Imagine [[BonusBoss Yiazmat]] from FinalFantasyXII times a billion. These things scare the crap out of [[BigBad Dreadwing]], and the presence of just ONE on the battlefield is enough to cause a MassOhCrap in an army of powerful warriors and mages.

** FRICKEN ABYSSALISKS. Imagine [[BonusBoss Yiazmat]] from FinalFantasyTwelve times a billion.
