** Kuroki is also well liked.liked, to the point that he was brought back for Godzilla vs. Destroyah, making him and Miki Saegusa the only human characters to appear in more then one Heisei movie.

* NightmareFuel: During their second fight, one of Biollante's tendrils pierces Godzilla's hand. While it may not necessarily be as scary for adults nowadays due to knowledge of his HealingFactor, Biollante wounding Godzilla in that manner can be quite frightening to see if you're a child, considering up to that point, no other monster had managed to wound Godzilla in that kind of way. And that's not even getting into how frightening Biollante can look [[OneWingedAngel in her second form]].

* BrokenAesop: Shirigami's tampering with Godzilla genes, which resulted in the creation of yet another giant monster, is portrayed as unquestionably wrong and he himself [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone laments it]] in the end. This is somewhat undercut by the fact that the list of Biollante's crimes essentially comes down to 1) killing [[KickTheSonOfABitch two spies]] 2) visciously fighting Godzilla, which is [[NotSoDifferent exactly what humans are doing as well]], just [[RedshirtArmy more effectively]] and 3) looking absolutely terrifying. It seems creating giant monsters is not ''that'' bad, [[FantasticAesop provided you have a soul of your good relative bonded to them]].

* OlderThaTheyThink: Shinichiro Kobayashi (the dentist who came up with the script) actually first wrote the script when he was 16. It was pitched to Creator/TsuburayaProductions as part of a contest to make your own [[Franchise/UltraSeries Ultraman]] episode. It won and went on to become Episode 34 of ''Series/ReturnOfUltraman'', "The Life that Can't be Forgiven" where Ultraman Jack battles Leogon, a giant {{Planimal}} created by a scientist.

* VindicatedByHistory: While the movie was something of a box-office disappointment (necessitating the return of the old favorite King Ghidorah in [[Film/GodzillaVsKingGhidorah the next film]]), it's gone on to be very fondly remembered. When fans and movie critics rank the best films in the series, ''Godzilla vs. Biollante'' often makes the top ten.

** The opening gun fight is ridiculous with no one stopping to fire at targets that are just ten feet in front of them. On the bright side the Saradian Agent's boring but practical methods of ambush and sniping are far more effective.

* TearJerker:
** The loss of his daughter is what causes Shirigami to create Biollante. Especially since it's not a Kaiju attack that kills her, [[AdultFear it's a terrorist bomb and he's too far away to save her]]. It's even more heartbreaking in the first battle between Godzilla and Biollante in FridgeHorror terms. As Biollante is burning, he is basically watching his daughter die again, only this time it's right in front of him.

** VindicatedByHistory: Back when it was made the film didn't do quite so well, prompting the return of Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and Mechagodzilla in following films. Nowadays its considered one of the absolute best of the Hesei films alongside vs. Destroyah, and one of the best films in the franchise overall thanks to the high quality of the effects.
