But he actually becomes an integral character to the story, operating unseen in the background as events take place. He saves Temari during the attack on Gaara's wedding meeting, influences events from the shadows, and then appears at the end to help with a solution to end the entire matter. His reasoning is he wanted to be of help to his future brother-in-law.
