ZCE and wrong one

* NightmareFuel: This comic was intended [[WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids FOR KIDS?]]
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: While the original series is widely regarded as Made Of Awesome and even taught in schools in Argentina, the Second Part in comparison is considered inferior by many hardcore fans. The same thing is true for the 2000's in-universe sequels made by Solano López and Pablo Maiztegui, though it was a serious product and sold fairly well, itself a miracle given the Argentine economics.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The series was aimed for kids and teenagers when it was first released. Kids and teenagers... of the 1950s. Not modern kids. Nowadays, an AlienInvasion seems like a good escapist fiction, but not this one. It starts with a disaster that kills everybody but a few survivors, those survivors violently turn against each other, many characters die in gruesome ways, familiar places of Buenos Aires are destroyed in extricated detail, circumstances are bleak and only get even more bleaker, every HopeSpot is crushed... and no, there is no HappyEnding at the end. [[YouCantFightFate Quite the opposite]]. And if you thought that superhero fiction prepared you for aliens, laser, mind control, super-strength and the like, guess again. And if there is a moment of levity here or there, it's just to make the later disasters even harsher.

The valiant small army against a huge and powerful evil army is hardly a left-wing trope. Is Star Wars left-wing? Star Trek? V, alien invasion? Independence Day? Lord of the Rings? The Avengers?

** The original work was also somewhat left wing oriented, having in mind the protagonists are a small army (or guerrilla), fighting a bigger enemy army [[spoiler: which is obeying the villain against its will]]. Even if it's nowhere in the first part, [[WordOfGod Oesterheld's motto for the book]] was "''el único héroe válido es el héroe en grupo, nunca el héroe individual, el héroe solo''" ("the only true hero is the group-hero, never the individual hero, the lone hero)"''. All and all, the First part was a LOT more subtle than the second part (if you can call the it subtle at all).

* HarsherInHindsight: There's some right after the first battle against the ''cascarudos'' (beetles) at the roundabout, when Salvo, Favalli and the rest of the army move along. The narration then proceeds to name some distinctive buildings and locations as the characters pass by them. One of them is the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navy_Petty-Officers_School_of_Mechanics Escuela Mecánica de la Armada]], which was, from 1957 (when the story was written) to 1983, one of the most important military buildings of Argentina, so to speak. Exactly thirty years later in RealLife, the author, [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Héctor_Germán_Oesterheld Héctor Germán Oesterheld]], was carried there during the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proceso_de_Reorganizaci%C3%B3n_Nacional last Argentinean dictatorship]] (then, and now euphemistically, called "National Reorganization Process"), which is infamous for the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desaparecidos#Argentina disappearance of people by arresting them illegally]], [[BodyHorror extreme physical and psychological torture]] and illegal executions. Extra points if you know about the tortures enforced there and in every other illegal detention center: [[FateWorseThanDeath drowning, raping, fusillade simulations, electric shocks to the genitals while tied up to a table, birth and appropriation of babies born while their mothers were in captivity (which didn't earn them any special treatment)]], all to be buried in mass graves afterwards. The very next year, his four daughters, [[ParanoiaFuel which were probably as young as many of the people reading this]], were also illegally arrested, systematically tortured and [[UnPerson disappeared]] like their father, one of them while being pregnant and other while already being mother of a baby. The grandson born in captivity was rescued by Elsa Sánches, Oesterheld's widow, while the other was raised by the father's grandparents.

Fridge Horror has its own page. Example is already there

* FridgeHorror: The whole premise of the travelling through time and space seems really cool from the very beginning... If you don't think too hard on it. this is not a forum, rewrite that as trope.

** I got a major humanist feel from the first one, would barely say it conveyed any left wing message (Not to imply humanist and leftist messages are mutually exclusive).
*** Seconded. It is a common mistake to read his fifties' works through his seventies-late sixties political involvement. It is however true that, in any case, it was that humanism which got him more politically involved, it's all part of a slow process that is, by the way, a very useful example of what happened to many humanist and mildly leftist intellectuals in Argentina after several years of corruption, disillusionment and dictatorship.

* MoralEventHorizon: Despite fighting an extermination war, the protagonists never torture or execute any enemy. As a matter of fact, being common and decent people, they always are plenty of moral concerns regarding their doings, and never think selfishly, even in the most dire situations.
** However, in the DarkerAndEdgier sequel, Salvo makes a FaceHeelTurn, making his disregard to human life somewhat of a shock for the fans of the first part (and even for his comrades in-story).
*** Possible FridgeLogic explanation: those years of deep space wandering really [[CharacterDevelopment took their toll on Salvo]], who used to be a nice and caring family man. The guy is out for revenge.

* {{Anvilicious}}: The Second Part is extremely left wing oriented, showing a group of young [[LaResistance gaucho-type futuristic cave dwellers]] fighting a despotic dictatorship of aliens with Juan Salvo as a Che Guevara-like [[FollowTheLeader charismatic leader]]. As always, YourMileageMayVary wether SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped or not. This doesn't apply for the original first work.
